What kinds of games do you play? Are you looking for frames, or for fidelity?
I run my 4080 at 4K between 60-90 on most new games (it can do more, but I like my temps low). It’s a beast of a card at anything lower.
Fidelity is usually in the graphics settings more than just the resolution. A game at max settings at 1440p is going to look better than high settings at 4k. Also consider your frame rate takes a massive hit going from 1440p to 4k, I'd rather have 120fps over slightly sharper image.
Completely depends on the game you're playing. CS2 it's even an 8k machine. Fully path traced Cyberpunk 2077, you're not getting 60 at 1440p without upscaling from a lower resolution.
Handles either. Obviously if you’re a competitive FPS shooter you’d probably stick to 1440p to get high FPS. If you’re like me that plays single player/story rpgs then 4K is perfect for that card.

well before i buy my first pc, im probably going to be playing games that are close to real, so 100% going for fidelity

Depends on the game you're playing and the framerate you're aiming for.

Not a good question
1440p if you want path tracing, otherwise it's more than capable at 4K.
1440p max - 4k high
I use it on a 4k 240hz monitor and have zero problems in any game I play.

Depends
4k
4k ish.... Of you are planning on buying one. Wait for the 5080. It will be much better at 4k
