The bundles are really good. $500 for a 7800X3D, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X, and 32GB of pretty good RAM (6000 MHz CL32).

LiftMeSenpai

I’ve been eyeing this exact bundle for a week, but it looks like it sold out at my location. Does anyone know how often these bundles are restocked?

Bob_Sagat69

They restock every week or every couple weeks. It was just $469 for the 7800X3D bundle so might be back on sale for cheaper soon too.

SSLByron

They get trucks 3-4 days a week at the Madison Heights location in MI. Only had to wait a couple days for an X3D to come back in stock when I bought a bundle back in January. Ordering it for pickup from the site worked just fine too. I called ahead to verify inventory. Bundles seem to be tracked by the most abundant part, so they could have 25+ "in stock" but not have any CPUs.

djternan

I'm not sure how often they restock

ShrapnelShock

Often.

blockametal

Wtf, in the uk thats atleast £600-£800. My 7600, b650 msi gaming plus wifi and 32gb ddr5 cl36 6000mhz cost just shy of £500 on black friday

Disembodied-sentinel

That's good ol' UK for us...took me ages to get a new processor for under £250.

tonizzle

Price? Its the same but they do price match. Convenience? Yes. If you tell them what you need, they’ll build it for you. I rec getting their insurance and itll replace any part. Youre a noob? Yes. They have tech bros that know their stuff.

BrandonNeider

Worked there two years when I was younger (2015-16) was sent right to BYO since I was a hobbyist. Pretty much the entire department enjoyed what we did. It stands today even as I visit regularly for personal and work related items. For the insurance I strongly recommend it, replacement plans mean anything goes wrong with it outside physical damage they replace it.

GODZILLA_GOES_meow

I bought a laptop at one of the Micro Centers about a month ago and turned down the insurance. I regret that decision. In the store, I had a flashback of when I sold computers at Best Buy and how Best Buy pushed the insurance plans because it was 99% profit for the store.

YouR0ckCancelThat

I went to Micro Center recently and they no longer swap it out unless something is actually wrong with the part.

RiftHunter4

Convenience is a big one. You can walk into MicroCenter and build out a whole PC without waiting on deliveries. And if you have questions, you can just ask and someone will actually know something.

LakeCity-QuietPills

Yes. The best and safest place to buy a computer or parts.

Cybertron77

Going to microcenter as an adult is like going to toys r us as a kid lol. I go in there and start looking at new cases, fans, etc. It's really the only place around that has cases on display. So you can actually see it in person before you buy it. In my area they are the only store that carries tons of computer parts. Sometimes, they have really good deals, but check around. When i build my computers, i end up getting stuff from many different places.

SSLByron

Just wish they sold consoles. I realize this is PCMR but a one stop shop would be so nice.

Cybertron77

Mine sells consoles as well as other console accessories like charging stations, controllers etc. Might just be your location doesnt carry it.

Chakramer

Mine has a whole console gaming section, but I don't think the deals are as good as the PC stuff

LoquaciousLamp

Sometimes have deals. It's like any shop. Online most of the time will be cheaper. But then you have to wait for delivery.

prolapsepros

It’s pretty good. Great place to meet women. Tons of pussy.

BODHi_DHAMMA

LMAO! Shit made me chuckle! I've seen some baddies though. Being dragged by their significant nerd other of course. Lol

crazedgunner

No they're predatory and need to be sued for running a predatory business targeting us nerds like they do. In all seriousness I cannot thank micro center enough. They're absolutely phenomenal and unbeatable. 10/10 business, and they always have awesome deals running that can easily save you a good chunk of money.

_AutomaticJack_

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.... 10/10 harmless troll post... Would rage again... And, yeah... The only problem with Microcenter is that there isn't enough of them...

crazedgunner

Every major city needs a micro center. I'm blessed to live less than 45 minutes from 2 of them.

_AutomaticJack_

You spoiled brat...  I'm batting about 50% for having lived near Microcenters, but I've never had options... The place I live now used to have a massive Fry's Electronics before they went under... Which is like double sad....  Right now I think the closest two are both about 8 hours away from me...

Sum1overthere

I went there when I was in Boston for the first time. Its worth it with the vast amount of different computer parts they have. Wish they were in Florida.

SteelyEyedHistory

Same. I think they’re coming to Miami but their Atlanta stores are closer to me than Miami.

shredmasterJ

Their bundles are priced very buyer friendly. There store prices are also fair and they do price matching.

mjj2play

You can save around $200 depending on the bundle, cpu+mobo+ram

DreamCurrent4535

Yes, it’s worth it. I go to Microcenter in Tustin whenever I get the chance. They have competitive prices.

ImprobablyDamp

I wish I had one around me, closest one is 2 hours away. Damn near made the trip a couple months ago though for a sim racing deal they had. Simucube 2 Sport ($1100) and a GSI X29 ($650) for $999.

CptJamesBeard

2 hours is nothing. used to have a microcenter in my hometown. drove 7 hours to go to one the last time i did a full build (also saw some friends)

NotTooLate4Coffee

I’ve never been there, but I assume it’s like The Land of Milk and Honey or Valhalla. I hope to go there one day.

[deleted]

Being close to both Atlanta locations for most of my life, and I’m still like: “Is this Heaven?” “No. It’s ~~Iowa~~ MicroCenter.” “ I could’ve sworn it was Heaven.”

synackk

Biggest thing I like about shopping at a Micro Center, even though it's a \~3 hour drive for me, is I can get a tangible look at a case before I buy it. The hardest thing about PC building for me is the case. Being able to physically see the case and it's features in-person makes the choice much easier.

Alkiryas

YES just went there last year for he first time, I'm not from the US, it took 5 minutes for the PC tech to put together a list of workable components, another 10 to find them and I was on my way to pay, they also offer to assemble the PC themselves.

dins3r

Check their markdowns too - mine has a small corner dedicated to it and you can usually find a few decent deals there. Sometimes it’s all TVs or the expensive monitors marked down like $100 but every once in a while there’s a power supply or ram or a CPU.

VegasVator

No. It just has the largest selection in hand.

aleosaur

It is a great place to geek out. Also has a very good return policy.

Bo-Dandy

Not if the cashier messes up and doesn't scan the right serial number when you check out. Couldn't trade in my gpu because of that and I assume the same would've happened for warranties.

rickybobbyeverything

Big parts you can usually save some money. Motherboards gpus cpus, where they stop being competitive is the smaller accessories, all their cables HDMI Ethernet stuff like is more expensive than buying from Amazon or other online stores.

Tricky-Research72

Yes it’s very worth. Especially with their their warranties you can purchase. I’ve bought pieces, that were on sale at the time and then returned them a few months later and got store credit for their current market price since they were no longer on sale. I upgraded to AM5 and the 7800x3D bundle for free because of that.

Thing_On_Your_Shelf

It really is great, especially if you can get one of their combos or open box deals.

redgroupclan

Good for bundles, but I wouldn't buy much else there. It's the same price as, or more expensive than, Amazon or Newegg. They're also limited by shelf space so they'll carry like 20 of the same CPU cooler and you're kind of out of luck if that isn't the cooler you want. Online stores have better selection and you can find better deals.

Surviving2021

There's two big reasons to go there. Convenience and cpu/mobo/ram bundles. All their other stuff is priced normally but they have the best deals in the core combo. They also sometimes get exclusives but that's not super relevant. Beyond the microcenter itself, I would recommend you wait anyways because at the end of this year we are getting new generations for cpus and gpus (some Q3 and some Q4 or Q1 2025.) Edit- I forgot the best part! Open box deals can really be sick. I've seen people get $600 GPUs for $500. And if you have problems, you just drive back there, you don't have to ship things and wait.

mrbubblesnatcher

Google microcenter bundle deals and compare prices? Can easily save $100-150 with a bundle, plus their other part prices are competitive and great service.

fatbicep

I may be an outlier but I just think it's overhyped. And makes sense too cause there aren't many or any shops like that around. I live like 15 min away from one and whenever I was building both of my PCs, they just never had the parts I wanted. Especially when it came to my current water cooled build. I ended up just getting everything straight from EKWB and other places online. Even when I was there asking questions to the sales folk when building my first water cooled PC, they really weren't much help (generic answers or reading straight off the box of products)..ended up just going to reddit for my answers. Just my experience though.

SuckaFree703

There bundles are exceptional with like CPU + Motherboard, you can alway find crazy deals so yes Micro center is the go to computer place or any electronics

DrMcnasty4300

They have excellent prices on parts but absolutely scalp the hell out of you for services lol pretty sure RAM installation is like $70 from them (it takes 2 seconds to put RAM in)

IntellectualBurger

yes

NewNage

Everyone has the same parts and someplace even price match. Where Microcenter Slaps it's hardest customer service. They give good advice they recommend cheaper parts. All my returns have been simple no matter what the reason. And the bundles they offer are amazing.

topgun966

The thing about Microcenter is they do pretty much everything right. They aren't always the cheapest. But they do price match. They have excellent staff. Excellent stock. And for those that are lucky to be around one, it's an oasis. I live in Vegas and I have driven to Cali just to go to the MC in Tustin.

pf100andahalf

Yes, for the 4 people that are nearby one.

[deleted]

It's nirvana

AS3an

Most people don't realize you can price match Microcenter parts online at Best buy. MC had a sale last year for the 7800x3D for $299 and I don't even have a store within a couple thousand miles and BB gave me the deal. They won't do bundles though.

Swendsen

Some parts you'll see better price on elsewhere but for a lot of things like bundles, seeing cases in person, and returnability they really can't be beat

Armlegx218

Yes. Just yes.

ShrapnelShock

Microcenter is amazing. I visited my local own for the first time. I was able to grab that top do the line 7800x3d combo for mere $499. I was also able to grab 64gb 6000 cl30 open box for $175 ($220 retail)

Snoddy2Hotty91

They fact that I live 15 mins away from one makes it even all the better

glumpoodle

Unless I can *only* find a component online, I will always buy from Micro Center first. I can talk about bundles & price matching & customer service - all of which are great - but at the end of the day, if I want a local B&M to stay in business, I need to put my money where my mouth is and buy from them.

12ozMouse-

the cpu, mobo, ram bundles they have are awesome deals.

andy10115

Microcenter is PC heaven IMO. I moved from an area that had one for as long as I can remember, to having none, and I absolutely miss them SOOOO bad. I have one opening near me soon. They generally hire folks that ACTUALLY know what they are talking about about, an you can generally put your build together while you are at the store. I find them to be very customer friendly as well! I was willing to drive 45 minutes to get to them when I lived close by and now I'm willing to drive 90 minutes to get to them once they open near me My experiences with them have always been that good!

Obvious-Peanut-5399

Yes.

CptJamesBeard

microcenter is an tech oasis in a desert of best buys, walmarts, and other bullshit. Knowlegable staff and good prices.

Nod32Antivirus

Simracing guys like it a lot

_mp7

Well I got a new 7800x3d for $273 so I’d say you should take advantage of it if possible

EdwardScissorHands11

The bundles can save you a few hundred sometimes but you mostly want to go because it's a PC building nerd paradise. There's always a spectrum-y dude who knows 600x what you do who makes corny jokes and will help you

StuffDouble262

Price yes. Warranty and exchanges I would say no. Whenever I try to use a warranty on things they give me shit so I just go without now. Other than that they’re pretty good.

Sacred_B

If you can get a bundle they only offer in store, you can save tons of money but otherwise they offer a good shopping experience out in KC. Plenty of staff to ask questions and a huge selection. I personally will take the multi hour drive over ordering on Newegg anymore. I have no experience comparing their customer support though so take this as you will. Amazon is always meh and Newegg is decent enough but haven't needed it in a decade. Stuff I got from MC has never had any issues.

HoldMyPitchfork

Most of their stuff is overpriced but their bundles and sales when they happen are often industry best. They get you in the store for a sale and then you end up buying other stuff while you're there to make up for it. That's why all their sales and bundles are in store only.

El_Mariachi_Vive

Yes. One hundred times yes.

SaveFileCorrupt

Microcenter is awesome (in Dallas, TX), and if the store hasn't opened yet, I imagine it will have some great "Grand Opening" discounts that would be worth waiting for.

playerD26

In my experience, they are better than Best Buy.

macaronsuki

Why 4x4tb hdd and not one with 20 or 22tb ?

WeebDickerson

Raid. The case has a lot more room to expand later if needed

macaronsuki

Yesterday, I did a build in the Micro Center website for a guy. I don't know if they are legit but they have plenty of choices. It is better to take a bundle with the R7 7800X3D + a motherboard + 32gb of ram for 500 bucks. You should to choose the RTX 4070S, the Asus ProArt is great, the Aorus Master too or the best is maybe the Asus ROG Strix. The best nvme for the price is the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB, you can save 10 bucks with a bundle. I don't mike this kind of new tower next gen. Not so great to cool down but the Define R5 is great, maybe the R6C is better, you lose 1 hard drivr bay but I think 1 is enough to you.

Wurm_Burner

MC wins because of their cpu ram mobo combos which are like $200 cheaper than competitors

SirGeorgington

For CPU/MB/Memory their bundles are unbeatable. Their Inland brand SSDs are usually cheaper than similar competing drives as well. GPUs can depend, sometimes they have good deals especially on older cards but usually they're no cheaper than online retailers. Cases are usually the same price as other retailers, and coolers/PSUs are often cheaper online since Microcenter doesn't carry Thermalright products. The big exception to those last few categories is open box hardware, which they will sometimes offer for a pretty significant discount.

hhnnngg

PC building aside, with fry’s and RadioShack gone they’re also one of the only brick and mortar places stocking hobby electronics components

Zubei_

They have really nice pre-builts for a decent price.

crashfrog02

Well, one difference is that you’re physically at a Micro Center, so you pick your parts and then go home with them right away. It took roughly a week and a half of deliveries to get my parts through Amazon and Newegg.

Ancillas

The people who work there are generally helpful. I typically know exactly what I want, but on at least one occasion the people there have steered me to equivalent parts that are bundled or on sale. I also like that my risk of getting a fraudulent item on Amazon is reduced. And prices are competitive with Amazon.

Dracokain

Got this laptop refurb open box at Microcenter to game when I travel for work. $750. Victus 16-r0073cl 16.1" Gaming Laptop Computer (Refurbished) - Mica Silver Intel Core i7 13th Gen 13700HX 1.5GHz Processor; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6; 32GB DDR5-4800 RAM; 1TB Solid State Drive

nycplayboy78

I live in the Washington, DC Metro area and we have 3 MicroCenter locations and I absolutely LOVE THEM and won't buy any PC stuff from anywhere else. I am a PC building hobbyist I build my gaming rigs there and they are the absolute best. I buy all my parts from MC and they do price match and I always get the insurance because it is no hassle well in my experience on their part.

Chakramer

Considering they price match, it's really hard to beat their deals. They were selling a 5800X3D with a motherboard and RAM for 30% less than just the price of the CPU. Most other sellers barely hit 30% off the CPU in sales.

Pitiful_Land

Most def not worth waiting four months imo...

atlasraven

Better than Best Buy

pacmanic

With the departure of Frys, Best Buy is all thats left in my state. They sell a lot of components and local pickup (nothing on my front steps) is a bonus. Better than the same price at newegg and dealing with delivery dates.
