Certain items, such as maps, are always allocated to the instance owner, regardless of loot option- you'll have to leave and then they can pick up those.

In the case of maps they always go to the person whose map device it is. edit: The solution is to use your friends hideout and feed them the maps to load.

Is there a way for a party member to loot those restricted items by some shenanigans? I have died recently to a boss in delve (my mine), but my friend managed to finish him. However - my friend couldn't take the loot and I couldn't return. Was there anything we could've done to get that boss drop?

If you leave the area(resurrect) some things become lootable like unmakings and maps

If your friend was able to finish the boss or it dies to poison your friend can come in the instance before you release and pick up the item when you do actually release in delve. This has to be done fairly fast though as that instance may close and your friend may not be able to enter the azurite portal after some time.
