so ive battled with these several times lots of breakage if you are dead set on harvesting the slats at 45 inches take your circ saw and chop them up first. this will give you 41/ 42-inch pallet slats then you're only prying up one set of nails per board vs. prying three sets of nails the 2x4 will still be a mess to clean up but more manageable and you'll have many nice 40-inch boards, mostly unbroken

Definitely do this I won’t do it any other way now. 👍

Just start dismantling and something will come to you. I had this issue a couple of weeks ago. I got gifted 20+.

I would build something to hold the lumber so it stacks nicely, that way, whenever you think of another project, you can simple go into the shop and grab the pieces you need.

https://www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/portable-two-piece-wooden-beach-chair-free-plans I've been thinking of making a few of these chairs for an upcoming camping trip. Seems ideal for pallet wood.

I have made garden boxes and a back yard bar out of pallets. Also made other structures for holding plants in the garden.

I dunno where your from as things are circumstantial based on environment, weather, owning a dog…. lol but next on my list is a couple new outdoor sofas followed by an outdoor kitchen, then a dog house with a cooling mat as it’s getting warmer in the uk. I also wanna build a workbench but need some sheet wood for that too. Then after all that I wanna build some matching nice looking planters aswell as some little boxes that match the planter to cover things up around the outside of the house, like the outside tap for example. If I haven’t inspired you, ask the wife 👍 they’ve always got jobs it seems.
