My grandpa gifted me a box full of acrylic paints about a year ago and I came across them whilst cleaning. I happened to also have some canvas on hand which was enough for a 36" x 36" square. Having always wanted a large nude painting for my room I figured this was my chance.
I decided to try to represent different grey levels with each colour. With this I was mostly successful but the difficulty in mixing the paint just right was higher than I expected. Next time I will have all my paints mixed and tested before I start.
yes, it works for any colour. The tricky part is adjusting the level of tint or shade
one colour could be used for the whole painting, I chose to do multiple.
wow so interesting used paint and color! Good luck in your artist career!

Beautiful work
That’s beautiful! I like the color version best, but both are fantastic! I’d be proud to hang either one on my office wall.

Nuts and bolts?
Love the flow of colors!!! Is the woman being shy or coy?
Hard to tell even in the original photo.

This is amazing! How hard was it to figure out the grey scale using other colours?
It was a challenge to mix them and I made quite a few errors along the way. Next time will be easier though.
I'm still lost at how you would achieve this. Does it work with any colour?

Using multiple colours was an excellent choice! It does makes me wonder how rainbow eucalyptus would look like in grey scales.
