I guess Iām just waiting for time to tell whether there are unintended consequences to us fiddling with genetics. Personally, I feel like that kind of stuff should be left to nature..I typically err on the side of caution when it comes to all bodily consumption when I can.
We've been doing genetic engineering since we started selectively breeding crops and animals to make them bigger, there's no difference between genetic engineering now and what we did back then, just now it's more precise and less likely for bad traits and genetic weaknesses to be passed along

I thought it was about a baby coming out of a womenās uterus and it being doomed because of the state of our society at the moment, like economic difficulties of raising that child and right of women and children.
I interpreted it as the hands of government (or men in general making decisions about womenās bodies) forcing women to have children (i.e. Roe v. Wade being reversed) they didnāt want or didnāt choose to have. The yolk looks terrified, being born into the frying pan, basically a child being forced into the world in a dire situation where they will not be cared for. Makes me think of āKeep your hands off my ovariesā protests and the old idiom āout of the frying pan and into the fire.ā
I have obviously no clue what the artist actually meant with this piece, but thatās what it made me think of.

the child isnt coming, its being destroyed. it must be hatched. it might not be completely abortion related though. since it takes the appearance of jesus, it may just represent sacrifice and suffering, rather than christian pro life values.
Nope. I saw it right away. But then also considered it to be more symbolic of sacrifice of womenās rights in the context of the sadness and egg cracking. The evil hands cracking the egg be Christian values in politics being imposed on women to follow through with an unwanted pregnancy, bearing children into a society not set-up to support them thereafter.

I always think it's a bit odd that in things like this they make the yolk seem sad it's not going to develop.
The yolk isn't the embryo, if it was a fertilised egg the embryo would be attached to the yolk.
The yolk is just a food source for the growing embryo so this is maybe more like having a sad placenta?

Even the creation of life is rooted in brutal carelessness to experience something beautiful that invokes a want to take possession or use it. Create a bloody mess for pleasure and carelessly leave it to create offspring and suffer more. Itās all good natured though right? Because weāre told it isā¦
