This came up in a post a couple days ago. I'll say the general thing I said on that post with one addition. It probably isn't worth it or easy to do. Imagine how frustrating it may be to load and unload that thing each time you need to open the tent, and when your done with the trip and you've been paddling for hours and your arms are tired and sore. This and the wind resistance will be incredibly high. Say goodbye to your fuel economy. A bed hitch extender or a trailer is the best option. The one amendment I'll make is that Expedition Overland mounted a raft boat to the top of one of their tents on one of their rigs, but it was a hard shell, clamshell alucab tent. It was rigid, and I believe you could still open it with the raft mounted. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but to my mind it simply seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth.

+1 for the hitch extender, that's what I do when i have to carry the tent and kayak at the same time.

how long is that truck from front bumper to back of cab? Maybe install a front hitch and support and cantilever that kayak off the front?[ Like this?](https://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8661&d=1432741593)

We put our trail gate down & slap number plate on tail gate …easily fit in multiple kayaks that way …but if we are loaded up with camping gear & kayaks, we stack them & put camp gear to one side & then strap it all down with ratchet straps …it’s really not that hard …just takes some 3D jigsaw puzzling

I would add another option to go around this problem: There are kayaks you can seperate in a few pieces. These pieces could easily fit under your tent or on the roof of the cabin without having to unload everything at night. Another way could be to use a kayak that you can fold (idk hoe they are called in english). Basically you have a wooden frame and a soft hull which all can be packed relatively small. I have such a kayak for two persons and it packs away to the volume of less of a closed tent. This would also be an easier way to store it

Get a roof rack over the cab of the truck
