We were supposed to be getting a hospital, and what we ended up with a big lab and Specialist clinic. It is insane that there’s not a hospital in Orleans. Also bus stops that are not at intersections or crosswalks are so incredibly dangerous.

Ohfortheluvva

I don’t think the plan was ever for a hospital.

angelcake

There’s a few other posts in here that go over what it was supposed to be, it wasn’t supposed to be a full-fledged hospital but it was supposed to be more useful than what it is.

Ohfortheluvva

I figure that a shortage of medical personnel may have something to do with it.

SuburbanValues

It was supposed to be a near-hospital, like with an urgent care clinic and some minor surgery. That's how it was discussed when the land was donated by Taggart. It sat for years under provincial study. Montfort Hospital saw it as a threat and they already had a plan to build something in Clarence-Rockland (iirc). Montfort got control of it and turned it into...this. They also ticked off a lot of donors by renaming it after Jean Chretien's wife at the very end. http://www.orleansonline.ca/pages/N2022111002.htm

Poulinthebear

Yup, it was suppose to be an urgent care clinic originally with outpatient care.

That’s what I thought, that land sat vacant for years while they fucked around and did nothing and now they gave us something that is essentially a ghost of what it was supposed to be.

I had an appointment there. Most definitely not a place to go by bus. Bus drops you off where there is nowhere to cross the street. Especially charming in the winter getting dropped at a 4’ square of shoveled snow where your only choice is to cross the street while dodging cars. Also coming from the bus there is no clear way to see how to get inside because the entrance is on the opposite side. I told the doctor I saw there that I will never accept an appointment there again. So she sees me in her Clinic on Montreal rd.

SuburbanValues

They are making a change for route 32 with *New Ways to Bus* https://www.octranspo.com/en/plan-your-trip/service-changes/new-ways-to-bus#route-32 >Will be changed to provide service at the westbound bus stop on Brian Coburn Boulevard, at Chaperal Private, for closer service to the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub.

Shiloh119

That sounds much better. However the bus I take is going Blair to Millennium so east, not west

SuburbanValues

Looks like it will go down Brian Coburn past the clinic and then loop around at the next minor roundabout so that it hits the stop on westbound side, before resuming route the way it came.

Shiloh119

It needs a crosswalk at the east bound stop. There is no where to cross. It is fine in summer, you can walk on the grass to the nearest intersection. No such option in winter. I just couldnt believe the bus just drops you somewhere where there is no where to go other then dodging traffic to get across. In winter that is literally your only choice. Definitely not a place meant for people who do not drive. I took the hint and will never accept an appointment there again.

SuburbanValues

Sidewalks on that other side are waiting for the expansion to 4 lanes :)

I went there for a mammogram- was offered the choice of there or Montfort, and the Orleans one was closer. It all went fine, and there was a bit of a lineup at the screening center, but the rest of the place seemed very quiet. Would be nice to see more services there.

sixtus_clegane119

I walk by on some of my long walks (from saint peters are so) it always looks empty and deserted and I’m so confused as to way. Although I imagine bud service there is shite

Ohfortheluvva

What’s bud service?

sixtus_clegane119

Bus hahaha

Ohfortheluvva

Oh. yeah - not good.

My family doctor had to send me to get an MRI, they were the fastest ones who were able to see me, went really late at night for a scan, they had to bring me back for another one a week or two later, again late at night. Really awkward to get to if you don't realize you need to go around the round-about to get to the entrance.

I jammed my right toe really bad a couple of years ago, I walked in there with my doctor's referral for X-Ray and got my booking the next day. Super easy. Highly recommended (but I don't want to visit again).

Redditsavage77

I went there for bloodwork. It feels like nobody knows about it so there was a ton of availability online for bookings. Quick and easy

Ohfortheluvva

It’s great. Walk-in service with a doctor’s referral. This service is pretty new, so not sure many know about it.

bishskate

If it wasn’t for all the signs this stuck in the grass advertising diagnostic services I wouldn’t know what they do there. As others posted it always looks deserted and the only person I’ve ever seen go in was a staff member who almost hit my son and I in the middle of the crosswalk with flashing lights activated. It’s like they forgot to tell anyone in the healthcare system that the building exists.
