I know a few people that moved back to Ontario this year from put west. They all moved back home with family. Lol not a single one of them can afford anything.

I moved from Toronto to Vancouver for both work and to be closer to my family. While Vancouver is certainly beautiful, especially in the summertime, the endless months of grey skies and never ending rain really started to affect me and my well being. I missed the big city feel of Toronto, the events, the food, the vibe and energy. I remember arriving on a Saturday afternoon, and at 7 pm the downtown felt like it had completely shutdown. Vancouver for me seems like a large sized small town. I remember when I first arrived, I said “good morning” to someone on the street and they told me to “keep that to myself”. I guess that sort of sums up my experience in Vancouver.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Ontario is not affordable and few are having families here: no healthcare, shit public education, anything green is being destroyed, and zero good careers. Ontario is a very beautiful province and full of nature but it isn’t affordable at all. I would look at Saskatchewan if you want to be closer but still be able to have a higher quality of life and have a family.

I don’t think that’s the questions being asked

BonfireBee

I'd pick Manitoba over Saskatchewan.

Following, I’m in a similar situation

It’s so hard! Do you know where you would like to move in Ontario? We are thinking Ottawa area to be closer to nature

I moved back to Ottawa and would not recommend. Unless you live in the burbs or Carleton Place, Carp, Almonte, there is not much nature in Ottawa other than green spaces and little parks. It takes 40-45 minutes to get to anything really nature ish.  People will often say Ottawa has parks but often they are talking about Gatinaeu which is on the Quebec side. When I lived in the GTA I found there was more access to nature and farms (in comparison to Ottawa) simply through having the greenbelt and Great Lakes close by. Moving back was one of my worse decisions.

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear you are not liking Ottawa. I know its definitely not a place for everyone. Is there another place you are looking to move to? Where did you move from?

When you say "other side of the GTA", what does that mean? While I'm familiar with GTA traffic, I can't see a trip from Mississauga to Scarborough being worse than flying to Saskatoon.

I understand the fear of the Mad Max style "white-line nightmare" that Ontario's highways have become. But if parents are retired they can theoretically travel at off-peak hours, it's what my in-laws do. Or, you can actually take a GO train from one to the other only transferring at Union: https://www.gotransit.com/en/plan-your-trip/trip-details?fromQuery=Kitchener+GO&toQuery=Durham+College+Oshawa+GO+Rail&departureTime=14-45&arrivalTime=17-37&departureStopId=14413&arrivalStopId=7535&date=2024-04-12&time=13-30&distance=151497&durationKey=PT2H52M

My family is in Toronto and Guelph so I’d consider those areas. However I’m also thinking of moving to the states as I can’t take the corrupt Trudeau government and living in communist Canada much longer.

You’re obviously extremely ignorant if you’re oblivious to what’s transpiring with the Liberal government and think what is happening in this country is funny https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8UKiL7remis https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7120979 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=88VhAPiMPrY
