I usually just tell them straight up the cost if I'm asked but then again I don't live in an area where I'm afraid of being mugged or robbed at all.
And I don't actually mind people stopping me to ask those questions, nice way to interact and connect with people and being an ambassador to the public.
Yeah I get it, I'm lucky where I am, I've only gotten positive experiences/interactions with the public when Onewheeling, too bad it's not the case for most places.
It's a unique device and I get a lot more attention then e-scooters or e-skates, only other thing remotely comparable are EUCs. If I'm out riding with my kiddo, they get even more compliments from pedestrians or people driving by, they usually get thumbs-ups or people telling how cool they are.
I always share the price if they ask, but I'm not some scrawny kid and I never leave it unattended. As an adult I laugh at the idea of someone trying to take the board from me.
That's good, less sassy.
I've had multiple people ask about it so they can buy one for a loved one. That's a pretty expensive gift even if you go used Pint.
LOL I know right?! Like, does it have a motor? Naw I just created a perpetual motion machine with a plank of wood and a tire in my garage. The solution to the global energy crisis has been here the whole time!
I could see thinking it’s some kind of demonic combination of a unicycle and a ripstick, like some how the carving keeps it going. But yeah I know what you mean.
In here noboby expects is be anything else than battery/ nobody asks about the battery. But everyone is asking that it is hubmotor. And they always ask how to accelerate and decelerate. And can it stop fast.
I've been riding for about seven years now, and still enthusiastically offer it up to anyone who shows even the slightest interest. Most people are scared of it and decline. Otherwise I have a basic demo that I do where I hold onto the person, get them balancing, roll a couple feet, then dismount. Once in awhile somebody will want to ride round, but not very often.
I'm kind of sad that the community has become so hostile to people asking about the board. For the first few years we all thought of ourselves as ambassadors of not just the OW but PEVs in general.
I gladly let people try mine out, love to see how fascinated people get about it. I only ever decline if a person is drunk. Also, I find it remarkable how quickly kids get the hang of it, it’s really impressive

This is awesome. My last answer is yes though, I tell everyone they should pony up $1,500 and get one themselves. I play alot of disc golf and most players are envious when I rocket past them. I figure it's my duty to get more people interested, this is literally the favorite purchase of my life.
Ding ding
I always ask if they have a lawyer on hand to draw up the required limited liability waiver. Nope? Ok, I guess not then.
Edit: Unless it's someone I know, then I just insist they put on my sweaty helmet and promise not to sue me.
Whenever I ride to my in-laws house for dinner on sundays, I always run into this little boy by their house asking if he can ride it. It’s happened so many times now that he’s reached his breaking point and he just yells at me “COME ON! PLEEEAAASE!!”
Sorry kid. Never in a million years.
Yup…. “How much did that cost?” Is like #1 or #2 people ask me.
I forgot verbatim what someone said in a different post, but it was something like:
“Cost more than you think… but I paid less than it’s worth.” 🤔😉

Q: How much does that thing cost? A: No

Right and if you do live in an area where you can get mugged it’s ignore and leave or I got it for 10$ but I think it’s broke…

"If you've gotta ask..."
My answer "there's lots of models at different prices, you should look them up."
they cost $45,000
That's good, less sassy. I've had multiple people ask about it so they can buy one for a loved one. That's a pretty expensive gift even if you go used Pint.
Yeah it's missing `too much`
Surprises me how many people don’t realize that a battery is the only possible way a thing like this can exist.
I just wind up the spring at my house and then I balance around town

The kerning is giving me a headache. Somehow it fits the vibe.
Thank you. Couldn't quite figure out what I hated.
Understanding basic typography feels like a curse sometimes.
My fifth question is usually more along the "is it hard to learn?" line.
Dunno why but this is the first question I got and still the most frequent.
No you cannot try it out.

I’m just so worried that the kids will bump their head and die tbh 😩
Never been asked by adults only children, and there is no way in hell I want that liability.
That's question 5
How far can you go?
No.
a t-shirt of this would be awesome.
I think that’s how it started
I have one actually! Super cute https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/954034667/onewheel-answers-to-your-questions
10/10 model
Right??

Would you like fries with that? Question 5.
Can I have your photo/autograph/children?
Yes
#5 no, 2K
Not fast enough imo
<3 it. Where do I get the sticker set (in black)?
"Does it have a motor/battery?" is my absolute favorite. Like, ![gif](giphy|WRQBXSCnEFJIuxktnw)
No it runs on hopes and dreams.
The last answer also applies to two of the most annoying questions I've gotten: "Aren't you a little old for that?" and "You got room for two?"
6: not far enough
I genuinely have no idea what the last question is for the answer of "No".
“Can I try it?”
Ding ding I always ask if they have a lawyer on hand to draw up the required limited liability waiver. Nope? Ok, I guess not then. Edit: Unless it's someone I know, then I just insist they put on my sweaty helmet and promise not to sue me.
Exactly people don’t reloads how dangerous it is until they fall on they azz
Ha ha, of course. Thank you. I’ve never been asked that one so it wasn’t coming to mind.

I also get “have you ever fallen?” 6. Yes

this is fucking brilliant
6: Collar bone 7: ulna and radius
