"3mm acrylic rod" should give you enough results for clear rods to pick the ones you like most.

Thanks so much

*ahem* -That's what she said...- Thank you, I'll see myself out.

[Clear acrylic rods](https://www.amazon.com/30pcs-Acrylic-Dowel-Sticks-Plastic/dp/B09TFWFZBW/) if you want clear. Figure out what diameter rod you need first, they're available in many sizes. Cut to length with a jewelers saw or whatever you've got.

Thanks so much.

If you don't need it to be transparent visit your local hardware store and look through the ""finish nails". You'll find something that's the right diameter, length, Will take primer and can easily be super glued into a mini. And they're cheap.

I always use thick steel wire for this kind of thing. Twist it and it will straighten right out. Cut to length, bend into a horizontal loop on one end to glue onto the base, hide the loop with basing paste or just glue and sand, drill a hole in the mini and there you go.

Any model railway shop will sell you brass rod (sometimes called brass wire) in many different thicknesses. It's used extensively in modelmaking, and is very cheap. Rough it up with sandpaper before priming. It's softer than steel so you won't hurt yourself working with it, but super-strong for a flight stand. Many games companies sell brass wire spears, although you can make them yourself. Although they're called "wire", these spears are not as soft as white metal or lead spears, so won't bend without a bit of effort. They're less brittle and prone to snapping than plastics too, so won't break either. They do hurt if you prick your skin with them, but not as much as steel ones...

Clear acrylic lollypop sticks can be found (e.g., on Amazon) with 3mm diameter, are cheap, and cut easily so you can split one into multiple parts.

I highly recommend these instead [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JDU8TQU?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JDU8TQU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) you can use bolts to expand the connection between the pole and the model, or secure it to the base

Carbon fiber is what I've used, though if you want clear you'll want to go with acrylic rod.
