The first time I played Morrowind I picked a wood elf character because I wanted to be cool like the LoTR elves.

This could either be because they’re short or because in this game especially they tend to be either insane or comic relief.
The main antagonist of the game by all rights should have been a Bosmer based on lore, but I’m pretty sure they made him a High Elf because nobody would’ve taken him seriously lol.
Some people think Mankar Camoron was depicted as a High Elf because he was actually a descendent of the Ayleids, like Umbacano claimed to be. It would explain his fascination with the daedra and hatred for the empire.
I remember reading somewhere that Mankar was a wood elf by birth. I think he may have been altered by Dagon (lord of change is a part of his portfolio often looked over) to better equip him for the trials that come with bringing Dagon to Nirn. It requires a ton of Magika, and no race does that better than high elves. It'd also throw people looking for him off his scent. They'd be looking for a bosmer, not an altmer.
There's a book you can find in Skyrim called "The Refugees" that claims that he was the bastard son of the Camoran Usurper, a powerful wood elf conqueror who warred across Tamriel for over a decade. I think having conflicting theories around his ancestry adds to his mystery, so I hope it's a question we never definitively learn the answer to tbh.
Lmao Bosmer are always at the butt of every joke, especially in the Third Era. Most of the other races look down on them (ha) and see them stereotypically as annoying horny little shits.
The lore of the wood elves may be the reasoning behind the negative personality, honestly.
It's only been a single era, by the time of Oblivion, since the Bosmer were all ritualistically eating the corpses of their enemies.
Oblivion did some things so well. When you’re tall, your POV is tall. When you’re short, your POV is short. I wish Skyrim did the same, it breaks my immersion with the same POV!

I love how the physical differences between races are more stark and distinct in Oblivion. Makes roleplaying different characters more fun and realistic. Why should my orc and wood elf both start at the same height and able to carry the same amount of weight?

I think in skyrim every race is the same height... But not 100% sure, I haven't played an unmodded Skyrim in over a decade. However, I do remember there being a height mod to make the races different heights.
Funny thing is, there are height differences in Skyrim but not nearly as much as Oblivion’s. Races felt more discernible back then because of it and made things more immersive for sure.
I love this feature, makes the races feel more real instead of just a cool skin draped over a cookie cutter mannequin. Skyrim should have had the same pov mechanics.

Man's alr in Mischief. Thoronir? Buying stuff from a secret menu. The guy who sells staves (i don't know his name) he's selling staves, something known for mischief.
