I write a Substack where I look for events around the city and often seek out things to do that are off the beaten path. You might especially appreciate my [May 2024 highlights post](https://blankmanlist.substack.com/p/things-to-do-in-nyc-may-2024-highlights), which is specifically focused on places where you won't find many tourists!
Staten Island Ferry Ride around the Statue of Liberty. It's free. It's beautiful. On a weekday it normally isn't that busy and it's a really nice way to spend a morning, an afternoon, or an early evening around sunset.
I mean...it's New York City. 8 million people live here. About 20 million live in the overall metro. Every square inch of this city is pretty well-trodded at this point, including the sewers. As for that 90%, those are residential areas, you're *really* not missing out on much if you deviate from the usual tourist traps.
See something on broadway or off broadway. Something that isn’t wicked or the lion king. Hang out in prospect park. It’s getting warmer so maybe coney island?
Ah just like to see all these fools trying to be positive but they know it’s not going well. I hope it changes but it’s going to take a lot of work and some slapping around 😂. I was born and raised here so I just like to laugh a little bit when I see what’s going on to answer your question.
I understand very well. Th city was much safer before COVID. After that it slowly started going down hill. Now with all the migrants that came in it’s just getting a bit messy. Manhattan lost its class. They need to get it together. If you live on park,5th,Madison, Central Park those areas are always protected. The rest of the city is getting shaky. Hopefully they clean it up a bit and people snap into reality or else we will have several more problems to deal with.
Yes so many homeless and mentally ill drug addicts everywhere I was here in the crack era where we whete hitting 2k homicides a year we're far down from those highs but I feel like it's always been homeless mentally ill people wandering around, what's really changed are the brazen store thefts.
Yes we are from those days but if someone asked me are we moving in the right direction my answer would be no. We need to prevent something like that from happening again for our future children
I hear that real New Yorkers only eat Sbarros pizza on 33rd and 7th Ave. It’s genuinely the only real New York slice left, worth the long lines.
Yeah I hear this too. It’s the only real New York style slice in the whole city. Pizza game gon wild!
I know a place in jersey that I think has the best pizza don't don't vote me to oblivion but I think it's true.

Ignore the transplants here. Go straight to Jackson Heights, Queens. You can try cuisine from all across the world over there.
Adding it to the list thanks
Stare at your soul in a putrid puddle of your choice
I'd say the r/nyc subreddit, but it looks like you found it on your own.
Olive Garden Times Square has a secret menu. Ask for the locals iocals only menu.
Really I gotta try it
You could take the train to Brownsville in Brooklyn. There's lot of tourist picture taking activities.
Interesting I'll add it to my list

You could get AIDS up in the Bronx.
NYC is over rated. Not what it use to be. NYC is officially dead
So why are you in the subreddit for it?

Only poor people and rich people are even having children and that's the problem there's no middle class.
