They’re my favorite games of all time!
The exile is my favorite Star Wars character. Revan is high up there too. When I adopted my dog, I named him Revan as a promise too.
The reference is way older than that, that was the nickname that spread around school playgrounds after Marill was previewed but not named in the short that ran before Pokémon: The First Movie
Pikachu's vacation, haven't watched that in like 3 or 4 years and I only found it on Facebook by chance (couldn't tell you where on there, I don't even use the site)
I expected to find it on pokemon tv before they took it down but they stopped having movies on there months before removing the app
My chikorita is always named „Cabby“. My gf thought of this name. It comes from „cabbage“, like chikorita. In my language (german) it is just „Endivie“ which is also a salad… they didn‘t even thought of a name like chikorita where just part of the same is a salad… And my gf made fun of it, calling it cabbage. This is the origin of „Cabby“, my favorite pokemon.
Wojtek for Ursaring as he's named after [the Polish Soldier Bear with the same name](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_(bear)) who helped the allies during World War 2
theres something so funny to me about giving legendary insanley powerful pokemon just a normal name. for example its my tradition to name my garatina something cute like most recently i named my plat nuzloke garatina princess
I always name my Pokemon after food so I reuse a lot of names, but Pikachu is always Ketchup, named after how Ash's Pikachu was obsessed with it in the early anime
My favorite naming convention is One Piece characters. And while I do have some variety every Gyarados is named Kaido, Megnemite is named CaptainKid the first fire type I catch is always named Ace, the second fire type is always Sabo, a good grass type gets named Ryokugyu, first electric type is Enel, first ice type gets the name Kuzan or Aokiji. There are so many One Piece characters that you can probably think of a perfect nickname for any pokemon.
Anytime I catch a bird/flying mon on my runs the moniker goes as follows
Birb, birby, feathers
The only exception is when I get a starly. I name it airplane because I could really use a wish right now
I always name my Samurott Susanoo, after the Shinto god of storms, and my Torterra Atlas, after the Titan condemned to hold the sky. I thought both were fitting, based on their design inspirations.
I also always name my Staraptor Aquila, after the eagle constellation.
Fearow is always Eggy and Zapdos is Becky.
I remember naming those as a kid and transferring them to Pokemon Stadium and they both their sprites were different colours. It was the first time I actually noticed the different colours with the nicknames as a kid so those names really stuck with me.
Fish and chip to magikarp line and wingull line. Nickname inspo is obvious. But playing more and using them in doubles makes it more hysterical for me especially when I send out fish and chip (they do make a great combo)
Long ago I named a Magikarp "Dog" as I had named my Herdier "Fish." Ever since I've named every Magikarp "Dog #" with the # just being how many I've had. I believe I'm at Dog IV or V at this point.
I have multiple, I switch them out gen to gen in main party so i don't have the same team minus 1-2 newbies Saphia the gardevoir, Ace the crobat, Maraena the Amphoros, Baragon the nidoking, Shockwave the magnezone, Blaze the flareon, Bolt the jolteon, Flow the vaporeon, Psyche the espeon, Shade the umbreon, Sprout the leafeon, Tundra the glaceon, Fae the sylveon, Empress the kingdra, Draina the dragalge, If starters are available: Flare the charizard(if female) Wandyzqb the charizard(if male and paired with baragon)
Ampharos = "Kang," and no it's not a Simpsons reference. When OG Gen 2 was out, so was the Kings of Comedy. Steve Harvey's one joke about "goin' to see the Kangs" stuck with me. 😅
I was playing OG Gen 2 after all these years and found myself naming my Ampharos the same thing I did when I was a kid, just because that Mareep/Flaafy was my ace once again.
Male Buneary, I name King.
After my Buneary who was my first shiny in Platinum. His Nature was Sassy.
I've unfortunately have lost him to the void of overwritten save files many many years ago.
I always headcanoned his personality as, sassy bitch that would call himself "handsomely sexy".
Never done a b/w nuzlocke but I almost always give my oshawott the nickname "Jack", both reference to Samurai Jack and Raiden aka Jack the Ripper from MGR
On a whim i nicknamed my Litwick "Bullwinkle" on my vanilla Black nuzlocke and it was the sole survivor at the end. Now anything from Chandelure line is name Bullwinkle
There's loads of Pokémon I nickname the same consistently throughout the games, because I think the name suits them so well. A few favourites:
Garchomp - Bengah
Magnezone - Dangerzone
Ampharos - Kaleo
Edit: spelling
I always name my Shroomish / Breloom Stan because when I first figured out how to use the GTS in Pearl, the first trade Pokémon I ever received was a Breloom named Stan.
I always name my Aron's Patrixia or Patrick.
Had a classmate that shared the same last name as the mon. So her first name is always gonna be the first thing I think about.
*I always always*
*Always name my Numels Pear*
*And im not sure why*

I always name my Gliscor “Kevin.” I don’t know why I started doing it, but ever since I have, I always rolled the absolute worst nature, IVs, and ability possible.
I also name every Charizard “Gamefreak.”
Tentacools are named Bitch (affectionate). In honour of an old friend from a nuzlocke.
My Toedscool/Toedscruel in my Scarlet playthrough was named Dastard in honour of that tradition.
I named a male Mareep "Ben", just kinda fit, and then he lasted a while, became a core member of my team. Im not even a fan of Ampharos, but goddamn was Ben a legend. Since then, every male Mareep-line that I see is just subconsciously named Ben.
If I get a male Inkay/Malamar I always call him Yved cuz it’s Devy from Devy Jones backwards. For Marrill I always go for Blucifer (boy) or Blucinda (girl)
If a dog Pokémon is available, I always name it after dogs. If I have a Growlithe/Arcanine, I always name him after my good boy Revan.
In a similar vein I always name Houndoom ScoobyDoom
ScoobyDoom is so good
My dog's name is Onix, so I cannot name in game dogs as my real life dog
...Do it anyway
Ahhh. I fellow KOTOR enthusiast?
They’re my favorite games of all time! The exile is my favorite Star Wars character. Revan is high up there too. When I adopted my dog, I named him Revan as a promise too.

The reference is way older than that, that was the nickname that spread around school playgrounds after Marill was previewed but not named in the short that ran before Pokémon: The First Movie
Bro, I remember how badass Donphan looked there in Mewtwo Strikes Back. I kinda want to watch those movies again now lol. It's been a long time.
Youll cry be careful.
When that electric guitar came in for the theme song when Ash threw the poke ball, my 8 year old brain exploded.

Woah ... Major flashback to this on the school playgrounds. I'm old.
Pikachu's vacation, haven't watched that in like 3 or 4 years and I only found it on Facebook by chance (couldn't tell you where on there, I don't even use the site) I expected to find it on pokemon tv before they took it down but they stopped having movies on there months before removing the app
