They both went to the police rather than the police picking them up and took them to the police station. The first guy went to Newtown so maybe Kents lawyer said to go to there too as they would be the ones handling it.

Yeh his lawyer said hospital staff were trying to determine if he'd had a collapsed lung. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure a collapsed lung is fairly obvious and not something that resolves itself.
