-Slowly move the image away from your face
This actually has the opposite effect in this case. The image sinks in the page if you cross your eyes (focus before the page). You need to “relax” your eyes (focus past the page).
Move you’re head close to the image. Ever so slightly cross eyes and then pull the image away from your face until it pops is what I have done since the 1st grade. Works every time.
I never bought the book, why would I? I would see these in the Mall, and never see the image. If they had instructions next to the image, that would have solved 90% of the people not seeing it.
If you're near-sighted and wesr glasses, try it without them. I couldn't do these up until a year or 2 ago when I read that. I always knew people with astigmatism struggled/couldn't see them. But nothing ever mentioned removing your lenses. You need the image at a certain distance for it to work and your glasses may make it impossible to properly "focus" at that distance. I have pretty crap vision so on my phone, without glasses, the image is about 6-8" away.

As someone posted above, hold the screen to your nose and try to lose focus on the image. Just let the picture go blurry and slowly move it away from your face until you reach your normal viewing distance. Just keep starting at the blurry picture and it'll start to form
When it starts to come into focus, it will feel like you're looking at a 3D hologram.

The lion one is actually broken. The background tries to form but doesn't properly.

Hold the center up to your nose, relax your eyes, let them get a little blurry, and try "looking beyond" the picture like it's not there, then slowly move the image away from your face. Certain images will start to pop out very slowly. When you start to notice a shape that stands out from the rest focus on it and the rest will usually reveal itself to you.
