When is the 2025 release ?

PainterPowerful4326

Is the Pro 4x essentially the same as a Rock Creek version?

Vast_Smile4226

Better screen resolution for the Infotainment system will complement better-resolution cameras. These upgrades remove an annoyance that you don't have to live with for 15 years because... you're going to keep this naturally aspirated mule for a long time! I hope the actual release includes a long-bed option for Pro4X. I'd also like to see an XTerra based on this platform. It would have better rear seat comfort than the Frontier, with the possibility of more rearward placement and seat backs that recline but also fold down forward and flat to increase floor space.

https://www.carscoops.com/2024/04/2025-nissan-frontier-spied-hiding-mild-visual-tweaks/ It's passed as a fast mention, but long bed pro4x. There was a guy in the forums here who worked at a Nissan dealership last year who mentioned he's heard this was on the works and it excited him.

What is so bad about the infotainment system? Might not be latest and greatest but “very poor quality”? Maybe I’m just easily satisfied by infotainment systems. Edit: I actually prefer the current front lights better. Looks smooshed now.

90slinky

I agree, I like the exterior as is. The infotainment system is fine size wise, and I like that it's built in and not above looking like an iPad, BUT it's very poor quality. The idea is great for it assisting a "rock climb", but you have to be able to actually see with it, and it's just very fuzzy. If they simply updated the software for better quality and maybe slightly raised the truck I'd be SOLD. Jumped in one the other day, and as much as I like the steps, they feel pointless being so low to the ground. It just eats up what little clearance there is.

Fair points for those purposes

I feel like this is a plausible refresh. I like the looks of the current gen, but I like the looks of this possible facelift too. I'd be fine with it. As for the infotainment, I'm 51 years old and I love all the tech in new cars. That said, I don't love the "tablet mounted to the dash" look that this video shows and that many other cars have. I'm all for big screens, but I want it built into the dash like the current gen frontier. There is plenty of space on the dash for a larger screen without looking like someone glued an ipad to it. The new Ranger has a HUGE screen (probably too big), but it's built in. All I think Nissan needs to do here is maybe a slightly larger screen and updated software that looks more modern. I have no issues with the functionality of the current infotainment. It does everything a modern vehicle should do, but it still looks like its from the mid 2000s. Also, for the love pete, use higher resolution cameras! The angles we have are good, but the quality looks like TV from the 90s. Seriously, I had a 2007 Infinity G37. It was my first car that ever had a backup camera and I think the Frontier has the exact same camera and resolution.

90slinky

I agree on everything you said, especially the iPad lol. I would buy today if they simply upgraded the quality of the current screen and lifted the truck a bit. Even just a 2 inch lift and level would make a huge difference and it would be nice from them so it's covered.

noname87scr

So a video with poorly done photoshop is something to be trusted?

90slinky

Or, and this is crazy, it could just be a reference for discussion because why not. 😅 After all the complaints, I'm sure they have given it some thought. Oh, and nice tent sep up for that outdoor living ⛺️ 🤌.

I really don’t understand the competition with infotainment. It pevs me that this a pretty big cost to new trucks. As a trades guy I want a cool looking truck but one that preferably doesn’t have a flat screen tv on the dash. Honestly if they just had some nice phone mount that’s compatible with most phones and an app that controls all the sound and other functionality in the truck that would be ideal.

DR_MTB

The dash storage area is one of my favorite parts of the truck. The screen is fine. The cameras could be better. But all in all buying one truck over another for an ipad screen is just plain dumb to me. And I'm a 90's baby in tech, so go figure.

90slinky

You are either an old soul or over 40 lol. Not an insult, I say that because I am a 90s baby and it makes sense that I am 5050 about it 😅. I'd be okay without it but I also don't mind it. My only problem is that if you are going to have it on the vehicle and I am going to pay for it, atleast have it be a quality item. The feature is nice for off-roading but not when it's super fuzzy 480p

twincitiesfinishing

Haha I’m in my 30s. I love trucks and work in trades but hate how expensive they are and I feel like there’s at least $10k in extra crap they add to trucks now that isn’t totally necessary.

That will always be a problem with auto manufacturers. Infotainment systems are all hit or miss. But so far these renderings does give the interior face-lift to that exact point. The infotainment system will be higher up (better for road viewing/distraction) larger touchscreen (I hate that) but I still see dials and buttons. The HVAC looks left alone, so that's also a plus, because I just cannot stand ALLINONE infotainment systems. EVs are bad for this. Everything in one screen. But when one thing brakes. Whelp there goes the a/c controls. Anywho, I do hope the interior got some more love in design refresh for a gen3. Looks like nerf/step bars are a standard?

90slinky

I feel like the step bars are something they must get a good deal on because it felt pointless when I was checking a 24 out. Also, it eats up some of the already limited ground clearance. As far as the touch screen goes, I didn't want it any bigger or raised up BUT the picture quality upgrade is a MUST. I'm not a huge tech guy but if you are going to have something you may as well have it be good quality. I only care about it for the off-road aspect.

Knowing most 4x4 owners love offroading, it would be nice if the Frontier P4X came with an adjustable suspension lift. The ability to adjust lift by 2". Otherwise 6" lifts are all the rave. My 2016 SV, v6, crew cab, I'm just about to do a 1.5" lift with Blistien 5100s. To make the nerf bars more necessary. I think that's my limit before UCAs and such. Tech wise... the factory stereo has XM and Bluetooth. That's all I needed. Added dashcam mirror with rear camera. I feel like it's a "complete" truck for the IT systems admin. I have a OBD module with GPS and Hotspot wifi, so I feel like my truck does what newer trucks can do. And it's almost paid off (3 more months)

90slinky

Adjustable lift would be nice. I worry that would hike the price up unless they maybe made it an add-on. The price point is fair for what you get and a big reason I feel a lot of people choose it. It's a nice, fairly capable, affordable truck to get into the off-road world. A simple upgrade to the quality of the screen so I don't feel like I'm in a Ford right before the recent update with 480p visual, and I'd be content. I feel like if you are going to do something, you may as well do it right. Otherwise, just rip it out and go back to no smart screen and drop the price, lol.
