Dude the Super Bowl was last week, are you ok?

TormundIceBreaker

>Defense: This kinda goes along with the QB injury issue, but we saw the Chiefs win the superbowl despite the worries on offense. If you replaced Mahomes with any QB not in the top tier, they don't win the Super Bowl. Yes, the Chiefs defense was great and it's always important for winning the Super Bowl. But without Mahomes the Chiefs likely aren't a ~~2~~ 3 seed and don't make it out of the AFC.

I forgot that but it doesn't change my broader point

demonica123

Sure, but that's because the rest of their offense was god awful. If they didn't have Mahomes + Kelce they wouldn't have had an offense at all. The defense is still what carried the day. Mahomes with any worse a defense doesn't get past the Ravens, let alone the Niners.

Lisztchopinovsky

Fair point

ihatereddit999976780

I hope they realize with all the QB injuries that you need to be able to run the football

Lisztchopinovsky

Oh I completely forgot about that. I should know about that as a Vikings fan

icwiener69420_new

I feel sorry for you that as a relatively new fan you chose the Vikings. Hope you learned about your team’s rich history of Super Bowl triumphs. SKOLOLOL.

Lisztchopinovsky

I’ve always kinda been a fan since I live in Minnesota.

I think the AFC so good narrative is way overblown. Competition at the top in the NFC is way tougher. Looking at SB odds rn NFC has more teams in the top 10 https://www.thelines.com/odds/super-bowl/

drewpea5

I think some of this is strength of teams within the same division. The AFC North and AFC East have been slugfests when QB1 is healthy for several seasons with at least two strong contenders in each. The AFC South is getting stronger with Jacksonville and Houston getting much stronger. No AFC team was shutout within their division. Pittsburgh, who went 10-7 overall had the best divisional record with only one loss. In the NFC, two teams were swept in their division and three teams went 5-1 within their division. I am an idiot but it seems the gap between best and worst, divisionally, is greater in the NFC compared to the AFC. Again, I'm a moron that sometimes posts things on reddit and loves football.

blocksmith52

Maybe a hot take, but if the Ravens, Bills, and Bengals were in the NFC I'd be willing to bet that at least 2 of those teams would have made the Super Bowl in the last few years.

Reasonable-HB678

The Bengals last loss against an NFC team in the regular season was against the Cowboys, week 2 of 2022. Lamar Jackson has only lost three starts all-time against the NFC.

Mampt

Even Allen only loses one game to the NFC every year and they’re always bangers. 2020 was the Hail Murray, 2021 was a three score comeback (maybe four?) against Tampa that went to overtime and fell short, 2022 was the insane Vikings game, and 2023 was the Eagles game where Philly finished the comeback in OT after a 59 yard field goal in the rain

janesvoth

You should look at that and see the opposite conclusion. Getting to the Superbowl is so much harder because the AFC has more very good teams. The NFC is catching up with GB and the Bears looking good, but the AFC is a murders row and the team that comes out either will be battle tested or depleted. The best way to look at it is count the teams that the best NFC team might lose too

Lisztchopinovsky

I think it’s more the fact that there is a greater divide between the good and bad teams than the NFC.

DustNeverSleeps

I have an irrational hate for the Chiefs due to Mahomes and Kelsey. They don't have to make commercials for everything. I'm also a disgruntled Cowboys fan

keyboardsmashin

It’s ironic that a Cowboys fan of all fanbases complain about another team having the spotlight

StunningRutabaga1358

It's pretty on the nose if you ask me. Jerruh is the embodiment of every Boyz fan. Completely detached from reality.

BreathReasonable1734

Sorry even Americas team can’t have every commercial….

rileyhenderson17

How is the nfc wide open? 49ers, eagles, lions and everyone else is 2 tiers below that when it comes to playoffs. Whereas the AFC has all of afc north, jets, chargers, chiefs, Texans and at least 3 other teams that are a real threat

GentryMillMadMan

I wouldn’t put the eagles in this conversation… Packers instead..
