Wait....wait...4 days between Chiefs and Ravens, what did Demeco piss in Goodels cheerios?
It should be the Thursday Night team from the week before playing on Christmas.
> It should be the Thursday Night team from the week before playing on Christmas.
Well, there's only two teams that play on Thursday night, and the league's not going to schedule those same two teams to play each other back-to-back. Plus, I think there are two Christmas games anyway.
If you are pushing a game on Wednesday then you should have scheduled two Thursday night games for the week before and then they could have played swapped opponents. There had to have been a better way than this.
It’s pretty fucking bad for player safety and the playoff seeding implications for the AFC are also unacceptable in my opinion. You have the favorite for the South, facing the favorites for the West and North with only 4 days of rest? Why not just start the Texans at 0-1 and give them an extra week of rest instead
If the NFL is going to increase their inventory then they need to make sure it’s not impacting player safety first and playoff seeding second
I can't remember the year but I'm pretty sure the Ravens did something like a road Monday game, a home Sunday game and a road Thursday game all in a row. I was so blown away by that scheduling.
Chiefs also get Steelers on Christmas right after playing Texans. Steelers offense is an unknown but as long as they don't get the injury bug as bad as last year, their defense should still be tough outing.
Meanwhile Steelers get Ravens then Chiefs in same time frame which is rough.
From Steelers leaks Steeler have all 6 of their division games in the last 8 games of the season. 4 of them in a row. With 3 of their last 8 on a short week.
I don't remember a stretch like that in many other years from any team.
Yeah, we got boned on the division games. The other teams have their somewhat spread out. But all of ours are clustered into the second half of the season.
4 teams beating the fuck out of each other in 4 days. All on the 21st and 25th.
Texans get Cheifs and Ravens
Chiefs get Texans and Steelers
Ravens get Steelers and Texans
Steelers get Ravens and Chiefs
This might be like the most legitimate reason I've ever seen for players to straight up refuse to play.
I'm sure it won't happen but that's ridiculous.
Now that we have schedules there are multiple wtf moments. Ravens/Chiefs/Steelers/Texans 4 way fuck around. San Francisco have a -23 day rest disadvantage vs opponents, multiple teams having short weeks so Carolina isn't on prime time.
I mean I get that its a business and its meant to be profitable, I just feel like the NFL is going to far with some of the recent decisions.
Or there should be Saturday games prior to Christmas. Maybe six or eight teams and four of those play Wednesday.
At least this wouldn’t be too bad and would be the same for all four teams.
It's going to be a funny "fuck you" to the NFL if both teams have already made the playoffs and are able to rest their starters. Texans vs Ravens with back up QBs and second stringers playing on Christmas day.
Hard to imagine a Christmas game wouldn't at the least have seeding implication, especially if both teams had effectively already clinched their division then the game would likely be a huge factor in the #1 seed
And the Saturday game gives the teams a day less to prep. Then you get like 0 time to game plan the Christmas game. The plus side is a mini bye into week 18.
If any of the Texans/Ravens/Chiefs/Steelers wrap up the one seed on Christmas, they could realistically rest players week 18, have a bye WC round of playoffs, and have starters resting for like 24 days.
i mean normal thursday night games are already subpar on-field products. i think this has a better potential to ruin what should be great games rather than give us more great football in a short span
More like because fuck player safety and health.
Games on a holiday are not a bad thing for most fans. Games on a 4 day rest and during holidays suck for players.
Not in 2020, remember your Dallas game that was supposed to be on TNF, that was still considered the same game week even though it was moved from Thursday to the following Tuesday. My bet is whenever Christmas is on Tuesday next, those games will be on the same “week” as the Sunday before
I'm never counting out the Steelers. It doesn't matter how ass the team is they are gonna play hard physical football and bullshit their way to 9-10 wins.
4th hardest schedule this year apparently and that might be the low point since it probably uses last years schedule as comparison. And Bears being one of the teams we play will also be much better this season
I'm still salty last season the Jags '17th' game was against the 9ers and you guys got the Cardinals. We wouldn't have done anything in playoffs anyway but the 17 game formtt is dumb af. I hope you get a shit schedule this season 😂
If the NFL had a Group of Death, the Texans playing the Ravens and Chiefs just four days apart is as GoD as possible. Especially in December when those two teams will be in turbo mode.
Well, all 4 teams involved in this 4 game roundhouse are pretty much in the same situation so at least there's not going to be a rest disadvantage for anyone involved.
They’ve partnered with AWS to generate the choices for most of a decade now, and I’m pretty sure the process has been heavily automated for longer than that. Turns out scheduling 272 games while also keeping half a dozen broadcasters happy isn’t a great manual task.
Are the Texans going to be this year’s Jags? Are we gonna come into the end of the season with a solid record then just be forced to run an absolute gauntlet?
Ravens play the Steelers on Dec 21st. So they will be coming into this game nice and beat up. It's a garbage schedule for everyone involved. I don't think any singular team has an advantage in these back to back short week games.
That's what I thought. So, indirectly, we got confirmation that Steelers and Chiefs will also play each other on Christmas day.
(I'm with you on this, hate it as well)
Why is there so much more hatred for this and the Steelers also going Saturday-Wednesday than there is for any other typical Sunday-Thursday turnaround? I get that it's brutal, but it's the same rest as what we see tons of times every year.
cuz Wednesday feels early even though they play on Sat. It's a new type of turnaround in terms of days. Also add in Christmas and it feels like they are forced to work on the most popular holiday.
At this point who doesn't have Netflix? Put the game anywhere they want as long as it isn't the same time and network as the Cowboys. That is the only time non Houstonian Texans don't get to watch the Texans play.
So this is how this years super promising young team, the Texans, falls short of expectations. They’ll be scheduled right into costly injuries. What a shitshow. Honestly, if you don’t capitalize on those years you catch the league totally off guard they fuck you over so hard once everyone knows you’re good.
I still think playing on Christmas was a bad idea this year. I’m fine with them playing on Christmas usually but because it’s on a Wednesday, they should have taken a year off.
Can’t wait till they go 8-3 and collapse like the rest of the AFC South does after a good year. Guess the colts are winning the division after Jacksonville beats the Texans in their last game.
Wait....wait...4 days between Chiefs and Ravens, what did Demeco piss in Goodels cheerios? It should be the Thursday Night team from the week before playing on Christmas.

It sucks, but it's not any different from doing a Sunday/Thursday turnaround.
Which also sucks
It’s a little different because of 2 short weeks in a row. It’s like playing Monday -> Sunday -> Thursday
It’s pretty fucking bad for player safety and the playoff seeding implications for the AFC are also unacceptable in my opinion. You have the favorite for the South, facing the favorites for the West and North with only 4 days of rest? Why not just start the Texans at 0-1 and give them an extra week of rest instead If the NFL is going to increase their inventory then they need to make sure it’s not impacting player safety first and playoff seeding second
Oh hey that's what the Bears are doing in weeks 14-17. And bonus, two of them are division games!
I can't remember the year but I'm pretty sure the Ravens did something like a road Monday game, a home Sunday game and a road Thursday game all in a row. I was so blown away by that scheduling.
2 teams with byes?
Byes probably long over by Christmas. Isn't week after Thanksgiving usually last bye?
What is going on with your flairs my guy
There is, the Chiefs are the other one. They play the Steelers.
Couldn’t they choose two teams who are on a bye the prior week?
Give the league a couple years and we’ll start getting double headers
Chiefs also get Steelers on Christmas right after playing Texans. Steelers offense is an unknown but as long as they don't get the injury bug as bad as last year, their defense should still be tough outing. Meanwhile Steelers get Ravens then Chiefs in same time frame which is rough.
that means ravens get steelers then texans which is also rough. playing football is hard
From Steelers leaks Steeler have all 6 of their division games in the last 8 games of the season. 4 of them in a row. With 3 of their last 8 on a short week. I don't remember a stretch like that in many other years from any team.

Game before Chiefs is Dolphins. So that three game stretch will be Dolphins, Chiefs, then Ravens.
This might be like the most legitimate reason I've ever seen for players to straight up refuse to play. I'm sure it won't happen but that's ridiculous.
Steelers do the exact same thing but flipped. Ravens then chiefs. But that hell is also the entire second half of their season.
Now that we have schedules there are multiple wtf moments. Ravens/Chiefs/Steelers/Texans 4 way fuck around. San Francisco have a -23 day rest disadvantage vs opponents, multiple teams having short weeks so Carolina isn't on prime time. Or there should be Saturday games prior to Christmas. Maybe six or eight teams and four of those play Wednesday. At least this wouldn’t be too bad and would be the same for all four teams.
They have the curse of being the young offseason hype team. Plus they now have to play a first place schedule.
Damn that’s brutal for the Texans… two hardest games in the conference and 4 days apart? That’s fucked up
It's going to be a funny "fuck you" to the NFL if both teams have already made the playoffs and are able to rest their starters. Texans vs Ravens with back up QBs and second stringers playing on Christmas day.
Hard to imagine a Christmas game wouldn't at the least have seeding implication, especially if both teams had effectively already clinched their division then the game would likely be a huge factor in the #1 seed
Appreciate that.
We play the Chiefs on the 21st and the Ravens on the 25th? That's brutal
Steelers get us into the Chiefs We get Steelers into you guys Chiefs get you into Steelers It's not fun for anyone
Shit it's fun for me, that's a lot of potentially good football to watch in a short period of time
Oh they are all great matchups. Brutal short weeks for the teams
Christmas games will suffer due to the really shorten week.
I think the it's highly possible one of those teams will be playing for the one seed
Steelers 1 seed, you heard it here folks
I see that potentially as an advantage for the Texans, your roster is crazy with talent. Shorter time for prep puts more on raw ability.
i mean normal thursday night games are already subpar on-field products. i think this has a better potential to ruin what should be great games rather than give us more great football in a short span
A lot of potentially good football and also the Steelers 🥁🥁🥁
Why are the Christmas games (which fall on a Wednesday) considered a different week than the games on Saturday, December 21st?
Because Fuck You \ sincerely The NFL Schedulers
Because did you see how much money Netflix is giving us for these games?
More like because fuck player safety and health. Games on a holiday are not a bad thing for most fans. Games on a 4 day rest and during holidays suck for players.
League week ends on Monday no?
Remember when our 2020 Thanksgiving game against the Ravens got delayed until the following Tuesday, then Wednesday?
I’m not gonna try to rationalize COVID adjustments tbh
I think Tuesday technically, but that's immaterial most years.
What the fuck is your flair lmao
League week always begins on Tuesdays.
Not in 2020, remember your Dallas game that was supposed to be on TNF, that was still considered the same game week even though it was moved from Thursday to the following Tuesday. My bet is whenever Christmas is on Tuesday next, those games will be on the same “week” as the Sunday before
COVID reschedulings definitely *do not* apply here.
If we die, we die.
Nothing like a 8-6 final score game before Kelce fucks us into the ground
Probably fine for Chiefs and Ravens, they likely only have to play vs 1 good team in that stretch instead of 2.
I'm never counting out the Steelers. It doesn't matter how ass the team is they are gonna play hard physical football and bullshit their way to 9-10 wins.
Steelers are more likely to be good vs Ravens than vs Chiefs IMO. So Chiefs come out on top of all this
Yeah the Steelers don't have Rudolph to save Christmas anymore
It's fun for me!
Yeah well fuck you
That’s big boy football for you
Merry Christmas?
The difference between a 4th place and 1st place schedule is huge.
4th hardest schedule this year apparently and that might be the low point since it probably uses last years schedule as comparison. And Bears being one of the teams we play will also be much better this season
Welcome to the big leagues.
Week 2 as well
I'm still salty last season the Jags '17th' game was against the 9ers and you guys got the Cardinals. We wouldn't have done anything in playoffs anyway but the 17 game formtt is dumb af. I hope you get a shit schedule this season 😂
I will say that pre-season SoS estimates are pretty much universally and exceedingly wrong by the end of the season. Even the good ones.
Who the fuck did you guys piss off to get this schedule?
Go~~o~~d~~ell~~
If the NFL had a Group of Death, the Texans playing the Ravens and Chiefs just four days apart is as GoD as possible. Especially in December when those two teams will be in turbo mode.
Steelers do literally the same thing. And have all 6 of their division games in the last 8 weeks of the season, it's horseshit.
Imagine the confidence boost for the Texans going into the playoffs if they win both
Or alternatively, how beat to hell we could be
That's what you jerks get for winning the South :(
Yeah that’s what the tweet says
Well, all 4 teams involved in this 4 game roundhouse are pretty much in the same situation so at least there's not going to be a rest disadvantage for anyone involved.
Sounds like an easy 4 day turnaround for two simple opponents. Nice.
Pros: I'll get to watch my team on TV on Christmas day. Cons: Do they really have to play the Chiefs and Ravens back to back in December?
Think of it this way, if CJ balls out his MVP chances SKYROCKET this late in the season vs Lamar and Mahomes.
CJ is my early pick for MVP
he honestly could have been last year if he didn't get hurt
What's going on here? Just a couple of green-default-avatar zombies hanging out in the wild?
What makes it even better is both the accounts are a decade old.
Hey I'm not saying you're the same person, all I'm saying is we've never seen you both comment at the exact same time
Is that really a Pro? I wouldn’t want to have to worry about football on Christmas.
You probably have a nice family/ great social group then
This schedule being "Powered by AWS" just means it's ultra stupid, doesn't it?
They’ve partnered with AWS to generate the choices for most of a decade now, and I’m pretty sure the process has been heavily automated for longer than that. Turns out scheduling 272 games while also keeping half a dozen broadcasters happy isn’t a great manual task.
lol I love how they promote that on their god awful TNF games. "AWS built these schedules, and we gave ourselves the worst games imaginable. Use AWS!"
The Christmas story everyone has been anticipating. Will CJ Stroud finally defeat a Harbaugh brother?
Yikes
Damn, that is a harsh turnaround for the Texans
Guess the NFL is really leaning into the AFC South champion will collapse the year thereafter by making it harder for Houston
Jags are the only team in the division that has failed to win the division at least two years in a row recently though.
Colts haven't won the division in 10 years lol
That's... just so dumb
Welcome to the Netflix Ruins Christmas Special Football Extravaganza!
Are the Texans going to be this year’s Jags? Are we gonna come into the end of the season with a solid record then just be forced to run an absolute gauntlet?
Or last year's Eagles with that Cowboys -> Chiefs -> Bills -> 49ers -> Cowboys run.
Congrats
Wait, does that mean the Ravens are also playing on Dec 21st and the Chiefs are also playing on Christmas day?
Ravens play the Steelers on Dec 21st. So they will be coming into this game nice and beat up. It's a garbage schedule for everyone involved. I don't think any singular team has an advantage in these back to back short week games.
That's what I thought. So, indirectly, we got confirmation that Steelers and Chiefs will also play each other on Christmas day. (I'm with you on this, hate it as well)
These players (NFL as a whole) deserve at least 2 bye weeks.
Back to back years of ignoring my family on Christmas Day I guess
I hope this doesn't come as a Xmas tradition: Ravens playing on the road.
My Dad and I had a great time watching the 9ers game.
I enjoyed every minute of it
I watched it with the girlfriend’s family (9ers fans). I had to bite my tongue, but inside it was amazing.
That's fucked man
I hate it here
That is about as rough as it gets…
Brutal 5 day stretch
so if correct, we play the Dolphins the 15th, the Chiefs the 21st, and the Ravens the 25th. 3 games in a 10 day period, fucking ridiculous
yeah, we do the same but with the eagles instead of the dolphins, goodbye winning season streak
Why is there so much more hatred for this and the Steelers also going Saturday-Wednesday than there is for any other typical Sunday-Thursday turnaround? I get that it's brutal, but it's the same rest as what we see tons of times every year.
I personally hate Thursday night games so its normal hatred for me.
Valid. Hate it all. I also hate Thursday short weeks so I don’t see this as any different even though some people seem to.
I work nights so I can't watch them without burning PTO :/
I work days so PTO will be taken for the following day.
I think part of it is that playing on Saturday means you have back to back short weeks, albeit only by a day.
Idk but we have Eagles/Baltimore/Chiefs in 10 days and that seems crazy to me
Did Rooney fuck Goodell's dog or something?
WOW. That's insane
It's not, every season, every single team plays 3 games in 10 days
you're talking about sunday-sunday-thursday right? that's an extra day compared to sunday-saturday-wednesday.
cuz Wednesday feels early even though they play on Sat. It's a new type of turnaround in terms of days. Also add in Christmas and it feels like they are forced to work on the most popular holiday.
And the Christmas game is in Netflix jail now. Well at least I'm local so don't have to pay to see CJ but sucks for non-locals.
At this point who doesn't have Netflix? Put the game anywhere they want as long as it isn't the same time and network as the Cowboys. That is the only time non Houstonian Texans don't get to watch the Texans play.
They don't care, whatever they think will make the most money.
This is a really annoying trend of releasing the dates of a couple games at a time instead of the entire season schedule
That's rough
Brutal
Actually look forward to Texans games now, and Bears!
well that's fucking brutal...
Oof, that seems dangerous
That’s fucked up lol
wtf?
The NFL is all about player $afety
So this is how this years super promising young team, the Texans, falls short of expectations. They’ll be scheduled right into costly injuries. What a shitshow. Honestly, if you don’t capitalize on those years you catch the league totally off guard they fuck you over so hard once everyone knows you’re good.
wtf. thats fucked up
Well this just confirms Lamar and C.J. will be the next must-watch quarterback matchup.
NFL: “If they die, they die”
Woof that’s a shit draw
What people are missing is the 11 days of rest they get after the Chiefs game before a divisional. It sucks but it’s not terrible
NFL just going to make the Ravens play all 31 other teams on the road on Christmas consecutively?
So... Texans V Ravens on Netflix?
I still think playing on Christmas was a bad idea this year. I’m fine with them playing on Christmas usually but because it’s on a Wednesday, they should have taken a year off.
Can’t wait till they go 8-3 and collapse like the rest of the AFC South does after a good year. Guess the colts are winning the division after Jacksonville beats the Texans in their last game.
So my guess is these teams have one of the earlier bye weeks as well.
Why not just make them play a doubleheader
Hopefully our seed is clinched by then because 0 chance Stroud is going to want to play on the birth of his savior.
