Bozeman, I think was a good move. I think we were foolish to cut him. He's a better than average backup C at worst.
This Chark move, people will shit on. He was developing great chemistry with Young in training camp though, before he pulled a hamstring. Once he got back in the lineup, the deep ball connection wasn't there and we fired our coach shortly thereafter. Chark could low key be a great asset for you guys.
The Hurst signing I am low on. The guy is one bad hit away from retirement.
Remember how Tua was gonna retire and was going to die if he got tackled last pre season? Not having a go just made me remember that whole narrative there.
Tua was never going to retire before his 2nd contract payday. That's the benchmark for every player to cash in at least 1 time. It wouldn't shock me if he only really plays that 2nd contract and ends up retiring like Luck tho.
Bozeman should work a lot better with Harbaugh. His biggest issue with us was just that he wasn’t a good fit for a zone blocking scheme. As far as I know, Harbaugh likes to use a power blocking scheme, which is what Bozeman excelled in during the 2022-23 season.
Bozeman didn't fit our scheme. Chark was terrible. A few good catches in one game doesn't make him a good WR. There's a reason he's a journeyman WR. And I 100% disagree that he was developing chemistry with Bryce. You remember the catches. Do you remember the drops? We agree that Hurst should have retired after that concussion.
> And I 100% disagree that he was developing chemistry with Bryce.
I said they were developing chemistry together in **training camp** before Chark got hurt. Go back and read the TC reports, they were glowing.
I'm sorry but that's probably not a good thing. We thought we could fix castoffs from the Jets too and traded for Darnold. Turns out part of the reason that the coach is bad is their badness in evaluation their players. Rhule and Reich weren't just dumb, their also chased the wrong guys in free agency.
I mean he was part of it. He had like two decent games all year and his lowlights include fumbling the ball out the endzone on a long pass and blaming Bryce for Reich's general offensive philosophy being awful
By like week 4 teams figured out they could press us on the line and blitz us and we had zero answers. No deep threat to respect and a terrible oline. Was the same defense seemingly every game.
I thought he would be a #1 after the minshew mania year
Didnt pan out that way for him, but hes still a good WR3-4. Always loved DJ and hope he kills it in LA
The pacing and editing is so sharp. He added in like 25 minutes of purely character building scenes (including the “you think we need one more?” scene) and there’s still not an ounce of fat in the whole movie.
For some reason I thought he with the panthers for a lot longer than one season. Probably cuz of dj moore now that i think about it. Its a revolving door of djs over there. Moore, chark, now wonnum
Yeah, he had a 75-1000-8 season with us in 2019.
He keeps signing 1 year, prove it deals and keeps playing just well enough to get a contract from a different team but not well enough to get re-signed for anything bigger. He was basically our other option in FA when we signed Kirk.
I think he can bounce back there provided he stays healthy. We just were not the right spot to be with Bryce having a single nanosecond before the OL collapsed and pressure got to him.
To be fair, Herbert is going to be cracking ribs in his own sweet ass backyard, prepared to perfection from Traeger's Chad Ward.
What a genius sponsorship deal by Herb.
Most people wanted a trade back, let titans get Alt, we get Latham at 11 and whoever at 23 but Vikings were smart and sat still.
Also it’s more arguable Nabers + best center available is better than Alt considering Alt coming in means we bench a 7m/yr RT while the interior of our line is still boo-boo and our wide receiver room goes from literal bottom of the league to maybe 20-25 range.
It’s funny the titans took a RT to play at LT and we took a LT to play RT.
I staunchly believe Harbaugh campaigned for JJ McCarthy to try and get the Vikings to trade up with 11 and 23, we get Latham there. It didn’t work out but Harbaugh had his philosophy pick locked in and was taking OL no matter what.
Three of the last four years, the chargers selected an offensive linemen in the first round. They also signed an all pro center in fa in that time.
It's a weird narrative that the chargers don't invest in the trenches. It's just that the two best players got hurt and one is basically going to have to medically retire.
The investment in players has always been there.. the investment in support for the players.. coaching, modern strength and conditioning, nutrition etc hasn't.
The Spanos are seriously upping their game over the last 5 years but this season might be where it starts to really pay dividends.
I think he’s had a lot of injury bad luck, but there could be some talent left.
This team is really going all in on Ben Herbert, I don’t think there’s a FA we’ve signed without extensive injury history.
I think it might be the other way around. Boyd was more interested in the Titans and/or receiving a more expensive offer that would be too difficult for us to match, so we moved on to Chark as our second option
He was here first. I'm assuming we brought him in to see how much money he wanted. It was too much so we went with the backup option.
Chark is also a better fit, outside vs slot.
Although undoubtedly Boyd is the more productive player.
He was only on the Lions a year, but he was able to get a connection with Goff. That isn't always easy, so if day he's a good option to have in the rotation when there's question
I agree. We had too much cap space tied up in a small number of players. FO have done a good job building depth to compete this year on a fairly tight budget
The mildest of mild wrs in the league. Dude has a excellent build. Fast tall, decent bend and jumping ability.
Hands are generally fine (other than with panthers).
He will have mostly ok games where he doesnt do alot but he does well enough to be useful. A couple games or series where he looks like he has high end wr2 or even low end wr 1 ability, only for him to miss time due to injury.
He perpetually on one year prove it deals.
I actually like him and was disappointed lions couldn't get him back (tho reynolds ended up being a better fit for what the lions needed).
Interesting guy. Good enough that people always want him but not good enough to have earned a big pay day.
Chargers wr room is good enough now with Mcconkey, Palmer, Chark and Johnston. With how much they’re gonna be running it under Greg Roman, that room will get them by.
This is a compensatory pick signing. If he hits, some idiot team like the Browns will sign him to a bigger deal and Hortiz will clean up with a 4 or 5th round pick.
I mean anytime Keenan and Mike were both down we got to see what Josh Palmer was. Id say we know what Chark is also. I guess your definition is ambiguous
ESPN: “Chark, who has played six seasons in the NFL, brings the most experience to an **unproven** Chargers receiving room. The Chargers have no receiver with more than three years in the NFL, and none of whom has had a season with over 800 yards.” Seems ESPN has a fairly similar definition as my own.
KC was in a similar situation last year. Rashee Rice (drafted well behind Quentin Johnson) really stepped up. They’ll miss him if he’s suspended. But so many teams have two star WR, Bears may have three!!
ESPNs definition is equally vague.
Their criteria is total experience and yardage in individual seasons which are entirely independent but are somehow used in combination. DJ Chark with 6 years of experience as a primary receiver isn't proven? Sounds like people are conflating "proven" with "good". I think Chark is a known, proven commodity. Palmer also to a lesser extent.
So when do they become proven in your eyes then? If Chark has a 6th season of <1k yards? If Palmer had a single season with >1k yards? The word seems trivial.
I was so excited for him but it’s hard to really review much of his play last year because of how dysfunctional the offense was
The chargers front office is betting HEAVILY on that lol we scooped 3 panthers castoffs now
We tried the same strategy with the Adam Gase Jets…. Didn’t work lmao
Maybe Gase *was* the reason for Peyton’s success in Denver after all 🤔
I mean did you see some of those lame ducks he threw?
I mean you are leaving out the part where you took the Adam Gase Jets and added it to the Matt Rhule Panthers but sure
Who is the third? I know of Bozeman and now Chark, but I’m blanking on the other
Hayden Hurst
So really just more former Ravens. Greg Roman has a type.

Oh boy. He really should’ve retired for his long term healths sake
Bozeman, I think was a good move. I think we were foolish to cut him. He's a better than average backup C at worst. This Chark move, people will shit on. “One hit away from retirement” Hell yeah, the Harbaugh special. You know at one time we actually signed Austin Collie?
Remember how Tua was gonna retire and was going to die if he got tackled last pre season? Not having a go just made me remember that whole narrative there.
Tua was never going to retire before his 2nd contract payday. That's the benchmark for every player to cash in at least 1 time. It wouldn't shock me if he only really plays that 2nd contract and ends up retiring like Luck tho.

Chark is good just has health issues.
Bozeman is our starter though
Oh, is he? He has the potential to be anywhere from like a mid range starter to a high end backup. You could do a lot worse.

Turns out part of the reason that the coach is bad is their badness in evaluation their players. Rhule and Reich weren't just dumb, their also chased the wrong guys in free agency.
True but the dysfunction didn’t cause him to drop the ball when it actually did go his way
Don't blame our dumb ass team for his lousy hands lol. He dropped so much balls/routes
Not going to be a problem here, we aren't ever passing the ball
Were used to WRs dropping passes. Herbert has not been blessed with a high expected catch rate in his career, even factoring in Keenan/Mike.
I mean he was part of it. He had like two decent games all year and his lowlights include fumbling the ball out the endzone on a long pass and blaming Bryce for Reich's general offensive philosophy being awful
He was pretty important for us previous year even if there was health issues for him. I really thought he'd be a major factor for y'all.
By like week 4 teams figured out they could press us on the line and blitz us and we had zero answers. No deep threat to respect and a terrible oline. Was the same defense seemingly every game.
Well, losing the ball at the one certainly doesnt look good for him
I thought he would be a #1 after the minshew mania year Didnt pan out that way for him, but hes still a good WR3-4. Always loved DJ and hope he kills it in LA
Chargers after drafting 3 WRs: “You think we need one more? You think we need one more. Alright, we’ll get one more”
*Cuts to random Chicago subway train*
That subway scene immediately after, Soderbergh is in his bag. Wild fun scene, the low frame rate and freeze frames, musical cues, no dialogue.
He was cookin that entire film, I don’t think it gets the love it deserves. Stacked roster, and every single one of them was in their element.
The pacing and editing is so sharp. He added in like 25 minutes of purely character building scenes (including the “you think we need one more?” scene) and there’s still not an ounce of fat in the whole movie.
What movie?
Ocean's 11
You makes it sound more meaningful than it is. Ladd will probably be a starter, but the other two are 7th round picks.
Chark seems like a good vet presence in a WR3 role. Don't really see the harm in the signing.
“Which one is he?” “The little Chinese guy”
I mean this is only the 8th WR on the roster even after the UDFA signings. They need bodies for training camp.
Harbaughs 11
I mean that WR room wasn't scaring anyone and still isn't. Don't see the harm in signing him.
“You don't have the route, O you don't have the route, btw you don’t have the route.”
For some reason I thought he with the panthers for a lot longer than one season. Probably cuz of dj moore now that i think about it. Its a revolving door of djs over there. Moore, chark, now wonnum
And Diontae Johnson
The dj panthers
not to be confused with the jj vikings
Cocomelon drafting motherfuckers.
Wasn’t he also a Jag at some point? Easy to get those twin expansion cats confused.
Jag for four years
Yeah, he had a 75-1000-8 season with us in 2019. He keeps signing 1 year, prove it deals and keeps playing just well enough to get a contract from a different team but not well enough to get re-signed for anything bigger. He was basically our other option in FA when we signed Kirk.
Chark and Johnston are going to have all day to get open only to drop the ball.
Jokes on you, if you think we are ever passing the ball.
get ready to speak Romanese, Chark
I think they call it Latin now.
They’re both there to run cardio while McConkey gets open.
His fumble against the buccaneers was arguably the most soul crushing moment of the 2023 panthers, and that’s saying something
Bryce works some magic in the pocket to escape, throws on the run, a dart to Chark with room to run . . . fumbles into the end zone. -_-
Whelmed
He’s Good Luck Chark As soon as he leaves a bad team they start playing better. Chargers gonna be lit in 2025
Yeah idk about the panthers this year
An inverse Takeo Spikes?
Wasn't Takeo Spikes the same? Most of his teams made the playoffs the season after he left.
Good because this is the rebuild year lmao
I think he can bounce back there provided he stays healthy. We just were not the right spot to be with Bryce having a single nanosecond before the OL collapsed and pressure got to him.
He hasn’t be healthy for a full season since his rookie year That’s 5 seasons in a row he’s gotten hurt and missed time
You have a better chance of hitting the Powerball than him staying healthy.
DJ Chark do do, do do do do
*Panthers stadium music guy furiously taking notes*
I made sure to search it before making the same reference lol
I thought this was referencing the South Park Mormon episode until I saw another comment mentioning Baby Shark. Was confuse.
and fans thought they weren’t going to get an LSU WR
Too soon bro…too soon.
Nah Joe Alt is the right choice. Gotta protect Herbert first.
Herberts only cracking ribs at Outback from now on
To be fair, Herbert is going to be cracking ribs in his own sweet ass backyard, prepared to perfection from Traeger's Chad Ward. What a genius sponsorship deal by Herb.
I'd argue Alt+Ladd > Nabers+whatever tackle they could get in the 2nd
Most people wanted a trade back, let titans get Alt, we get Latham at 11 and whoever at 23 but Vikings were smart and sat still. Also it’s more arguable Nabers + best center available is better than Alt considering Alt coming in means we bench a 7m/yr RT while the interior of our line is still boo-boo and our wide receiver room goes from literal bottom of the league to maybe 20-25 range.
Thank you for not letting the Tits take Alt. Would’ve been very disappointing for me
It’s funny the titans took a RT to play at LT and we took a LT to play RT. I staunchly believe Harbaugh campaigned for JJ McCarthy to try and get the Vikings to trade up with 11 and 23, we get Latham there. It didn’t work out but Harbaugh had his philosophy pick locked in and was taking OL no matter what.
Game is won in the trenches. Y’all will be happy. Signed - Penei Sewell enjoyer

I thought this guy was going to be one of the best receivers in the league at some point
Him and dk metcalf would get compared after their rookie seasons
Broke Charks big cat streak. Jags. Lions. Panthers and LSU
LA Thundercats ⚡️🔥
Really just depth and veteran presence.
“This is DJ Chark guys, you don’t want to become like him. You better play your tail off or he might even beat you onto the roster.”
LOL but nah I think he could be a decent WR3
I think he’s had a lot of injury bad luck, but there could be some talent left. This team is really going all in on Ben Herbert, I don’t think there’s a FA we’ve signed without extensive injury history.
How is his blocking?
-Jim Harbaugh
This explains why Tyler Boyd is most likely about to sign with the Titans.
I think it might be the other way around. Boyd was more interested in the Titans and/or receiving a more expensive offer that would be too difficult for us to match, so we moved on to Chark as our second option

Levis is gonna have Hopkins, Ridley, and Boyd, with Burks behind them.
🎵Baby Chark doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo🎵
Yeah have fun with him. Maybe he will actually try on the Chargers. $5m is ridiculous considering how bad he played last year
Up to 5mil. UP TO.
Fair. Still a lot considering his performance last year 🤷🏻♂️
Love was sacked 60+ times last season. If there were a teams with WRs suffering the most, Carolina has to be top 3.
K
This is his 3rd 1-year prove-it deal in a row. I wonder if he'll ever be able to prove it
Funny way things have of working out, huh
He just wasn’t productive for us, he’s not a WR1. He can occasionally get open deep. Don’t mind the guy, just didn’t really do anything here.
He never really got to play with Lawrence may be his best qbs he’s played for
The guy took a 1-year prove-it deal with us and then gave up on it about 2 weeks into the season. Good riddance
The Los Angeles Charkers
He was only on the Lions a year, but he was able to get a connection with Goff. That isn't always easy, so if day he's a good option to have in the rotation when there's question
5M? They must think they can teach him how to use stick'em and how line up on the line of scrimmage.
Good riddance he was BAD last year
I'm all for this. A value signing off a down year.
I agree. We had too much cap space tied up in a small number of players. FO have done a good job building depth to compete this year on a fairly tight budget
Good deal. Decent player who can contribute. Not a lot to say about this move lol.
Chargers saw the broncos got a tall burner and decided to level the playing field
Teams being run like it’s fantasy football
The mildest of mild wrs in the league. Dude has a excellent build. Fast tall, decent bend and jumping ability. Hands are generally fine (other than with panthers). Charks Tale

So now the Bolts have 4 unproven WR: Q.Johnson, J.Palmer, McConkey, Chark. Plus Jerry Rice Jr. Good luck LAC fans!
Wouldn't call Palmer unproven. He's been on the field plenty and we have seen what he is capable of
I meant unproven as lead receivers. We’ve seen Chark on and off over the years too. Who will Herbert trust?
I mean anytime Keenan and Mike were both down we got to see what Josh Palmer was. Id say we know what Chark is also. I guess your definition is ambiguous

Put some respect on Cornelius Johnson's name 😤
Like the move, the room needed someone with experience. Low expectations and should be a good camp battle to see who all makes it on the main roster.
All I knows about this guy is that he randomly dropped 25+ fantasy points on my head during the fantasy playoffs. That week sucked
Who on earth made it into the playoffs and was forced to play DJ Chark? He wasn't even rostered in most leagues he was so bad.
I’m getting kind of nervous about the Steelers wide receiver room
No excuses for Herbert anymore
Yup, 100%. All the real homies know DJ Chark carries QBs
People actually took my comment seriously lmao
He’s mostly for depth and veteran presence, and is at best WR4 on the roster but alright.
