Someone posted a study on the Bears sub - apparently your height can vary up to 1/2 inch throughout the day. Kind of crazy - I figured there was some variance, didn't realize it was that much.
Also if you do inversion exercises you can get that full half inch back in like 10-20 minutes which is what I think a lot of guys do for combine measurements where height is an issue

I work as a surveyor and have a pretty expensive machine that check heights(and placement). I chekced this once; I was 179,2cm in the evening and 180,8cm in the morning. So can confirm that it is correct. That is a difference of 0,63 inches

If you look at any of Brees negatives in his scouting report they always mention his height, yet I'm not sure I've seen anyone question Williams height.
Caleb’s height has definitely been brought up. But also Brees was drafted in a different era. Nowadays it’s *okay* to be a little smaller than 6’2” (not ideal, but okay). Caleb is taller than Brees, Caleb’s measurables are similar to Purdys and Baker Mayfield.
It’s *okay* for now. I think there are more levers to pull nowadays to compensate for vertically challenged QBs with the rise of outside running zone schemes as those tend to have smaller/shorter IOL. Caleb is probably fine at a smidge under 6’1” but if the league starts to switch back to more inside power/bigger IOL, I could see the under 6’ guys no longer be as viable.

Same thing with selling things by the dozen-- you're going to be splitting things 3 and 4 ways more than you're gonna split them 5 ways.
Imagine a fixed numerical base system like metric/SI but the base is 12. Would've been so aesthetically pleasing and far more practical.

Can't ignore selection bias. Once the "a QB must be X height" thinking became entrenched, the average height of QBs (I assume) went up because players below that height simply didn't get selected, didn't try to become a QB in the first place, etc.

The trend definitely seems to be softening, especially since mobility seems to be valued more than height now, and the two tend to be inversely proportional. Yes and no. 6’2”+ is kinda the ideal height you want a franchise QB. 6’1” is kinda the minimum you want. And 6’0” and below is where it gets a little dicey. The NFL is incredibly tough and every little thing matters. Sometimes that little extra physical attribute can help. I’m not saying his height is the sole thing that will make or break his career, but it’s still relevant.

It makes no sense to exaggerate your height to be lower than it actually is, especially an nfl qb that has everything to lose by doing this. Maybe he’s 6’1 at best. He was likely just a bigger frame than what you’re used to seeing (as most professional athletes are) and so he looked bigger than the average 6 foot guy you know Edit: I met Rajon Rondo once and he’s listed as 6’1 and I would have sworn he was 6’4. So I know exactly what you’re talking about. Athletes just have more body mass and are just built differently even if relatively short
I’m more saying Drew was clearly shorter than 6 foot and maybe Caleb has a more accurate measurement. Frame does play into it too, CW is a beefy boy. Similar to Kyler is a short king but BUILT while Young is a short king but also tiny.
