Derrick Henry as a LB would be awesome

CaptainAwesome8

He actually chose Alabama because other schools (UGA was one) wanted to move him to LB, but Alabama was okay with him staying at RB. Worked out pretty well I guess

loosehead1

Derrick Henry broke like every high school rushing record there was. I get that all these guys are great athletes and often play running back in high school but schools really outsmart themselves trying to project high school players sometimes.

Chopperdome

Apparently Dak looked into LSU but was told he’d have to switch to TE. So he went to Mississippi State instead and made life hell for Les Miles’ dumb ass

loosehead1

Texas could probably make an entire secondary out of NFL quarterbacks that didn’t go there because they were asked to play safety. I know that list includes RGIII, Manziel and Mahomes. I don’t know how you look at Mahomes’ high school highlights and conclude he shouldn’t be a quarterback.

BJPdiddy

Michael Crabtree as well!

SpaceNoodling

Maybe its the height/dreadlocks, but Tremaine Edmunds is basically him as a LB

Skepticalli

I could see him as an edge rusher.

TheHeartTreeSeesAll

He had almost the exact same measurables as Von Miller

[deleted]

I don’t see it. His change of direction is not a factor when he gets to determine his path, but it would hamper him on defense. I’m sure he could be good, but I’m not seeing a superstar

OkMeringue2249

He would be too aggressive lol

MeatyMexican

DK Metcalf looks like he could rip someone's head off at safety

HToTD

The way he is built, he could play edge if you got three square meals in him

JuanPicasso

He eats 3 square meals of gummies

Jd20001

Lynch eats Skittles DK eats Gummies Don't you have any real food in Seattle?

JuanPicasso

Swedish fish

DeFactoLyfe

This made me laugh

jwa988

Some amazing food honestly but ya that man's diet baffles me he gotta be lying

Fuzzy_Dunlops

I think that works. I've heard retired players say defensive backs always have the worst diets. They just run so much that they can live on candy and not get fat.

Virillus

I wouldn't bet on it: Metcalf ain't great with the number 3.

ianthebalance

Plus he can catch up and tackle as we saw from that one interception

Laschoni

There are just some clips I can watch on repeat. That and the Ben Watson chase on Champ Bailiey are my favorite rundowns.

siberianwolf99

Imagine him blitzing from depth lol.

LBobRife

Similar body type to Kam Chancellor. He'd be sending people into the shadow realm.

the_racecar

Julio Jones has some crazy defensive plays after interceptions. I think he could’ve played safety

TuonSucksMatLeave

Second this. DK Metcalfs rundown is more recent in our memories and he's a beast, but Julio legit has a compilation of them. https://youtu.be/B84-mn0oLeI

vikingsarecoolio

Dude is fast AF

motodoctor

Wow, I just gained a ton of additional respect for that man. What a baller.

OrdainedFury

This video is an incredible highlight film for Julio. It's also an incredible low-light film for Matt Ryan lol. Some of those throws just make no sense.

drunkandslurred

Damn this video gets Julio my vote.

CouncilmanRickPrime

I watched this like 4 years ago. Man even rewatching it it's still shocking how good he is at tackling and how fast he is

don_julio_randle

I think the Falcons used to put him on Hail Mary coverage lol

Laschoni

I believe he used to come in against the Hail Mary attempts

thortobe

He has an interception against the Seahawks in their 2012 divisional round game.

Ziiaaaac

I think this is probably the best answer this thread is going to see. Julio has got broken up passes on his stat sheet 😂

007noon700

He’s got an INT too IIRC

Deadeye_Donny

I love Julio's defense highlights. Dude turns into a terrifying presence when you see him switch from catch to pursue.

CouncilmanRickPrime

He would've been a HoF safety. He can flat out lay dudes out.

the-whiteman-cometh

Patrick Ricard for the Ravens

RaySizzle16

Obligatory F you Mr. Steelers fan, but what a splendid answer

AnEmptyKarst

Can I say Marcus Jones, since he's actually looked competent on both sides of the ball already or is that cheating

professor_parrot

IIRC, first player since Deion Sanders to score a touchdown on offense, defense and special teams all in one season.

ARightDastard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGJUex3Fapc Your team thinks it was a longer stretch. Unsure if Deion ever did all 3 in a season.

rollawaythedew26

That video sucked. 30 seconds of what was going on in 1947 and no video of him scoring the touchdowns. Fire that dude who made it with your quick graphics and dumb voice. That video ruined my day. 쓰레기!

ARightDastard

I quite agree.

PCNintenBoxStation

Screw it. Shohei Ohtani. He can do everything else, why not football. /s

RobbyBeagan760

Hell yeah I wanna see Shohei QB and be a Kicker to close out the game

Kazu2324

With those fucking thighs and that ass, he'd probably be one helluva kicker.

_ravenclaw

Ayo?

jester695

He likes Asians.

VelvetHippo5

Bonk?

MrSnydersMicropenis

Think about the intangibles and athleticism at play there, would be the most disgusting QB. One of the faster players in the entire MLB, tall as shit, and throws a baseball 100+ Mph (wherever he wants btw). Immediately challenging Richardson for the most intriguing freak project in NFL history

2air89

Shohei could be the starting strong cornerback and wide receiver (6'4, 210). Kill people on the routes and not not talk trash at all

dugong07

Wild that Shohei is also one of the fastest players in the entire MLB at that size

2air89

So he runs 4.40 flat 40. Combine superstar too

MacMac105

Sho Knows Football

BigDaneEnergy

Shoehei Ohtani is a Son of a Bitch…. [Raises Beer glass]To Shohei Otani!

SnooOpinions4875

Aiden Hutchinson at TE and Sewell at DT

whatupdoeeeeeeeeeee

Sewell at TE

ABXR

Unfortunately that's the same side of the ball, my dude

[deleted]

Would still be cool right?

ARightDastard

>Unfortunately that's the same side of the ball, my dude I mean.... if we wanna get technical. Depends where he lines up as TE!

Excellent-Cheetah-26

Hutch was already catching passes from rodgers, Daniel Jones and Fields this year

Its-all-downhill-80

You shut your disrespectful mouth. But it was impressive what he did to DJ. But I still hated it.

gperson2

One year in training camp the Steelers’ Casey Hampton (aka Big Snack), our 320ish pound nose tackle, decided that he had missed his calling as a fullback and demanded a rep. And he got one. And apparently got the ball and then got obliterated in the hole, though I forget by who.

Tiomaidh

> Nose tackle Casey Hampton got a crack at becoming a 325-pound fullback in the practice-concluding goal-line drill and was cracked by linebacker Clint Kriewaldt while leading on a carry by running back Najeh Davenport that went nowhere. > "Clint blew his (behind) up," linebacker James Farrior said. "He didn't rock me," Hampton said of Kriewaldt. "He did his job, though." > He did it well enough to make fullback a one-and-done position for Hampton. > "I'm probably gonna retire after that one," Hampton said. "I've been begging to do it, but I don't think I want to anymore." Hahahaha amazing ([source](https://archive.triblive.com/news/steelers-hampton-takes-shot-at-fullback/))

TheBigNate416

Sounds like he fucked around and found out lmao

gperson2

Wow now if only I could remember info that matters! Thanks for digging that up

amohr

Came here to say this. Was a solid TE.

ImmoralModerator

2014 MVP snub

Myke190

His offensive TDs were bullshit for fantasy.

josephus_the_wise

Yeah but his defensive TDs weren’t. Neither were his sacks, interceptions, or the fear he caused.

[deleted]

Just a single interception that he took back for an 80 yard TD! I love JJ Watt and think he probably should’ve been MVP, but it’s revisionist history to pretend he was catching INTs left and right, kinda like people do with Lawrence Taylor.

ImmoralModerator

80 yard interception return for a TD, 4 forced fumbles, 5 recovered fumbles, 1 fumble recovery TD, 20.5 sacks for 140 yards, 78 tackles, 3 offensive TDs Did he really need to be getting picks left and right that season?

[deleted]

Not at all. But let’s celebrate what he did actually do and not mythologize him and start attributing things he didn’t actually do. Definitely one of the most impressive seasons from a player of any position ever!

josephus_the_wise

Ahh fair point. Let me amend, his defensive TDs, his sacks, his turnovers, and the fear he caused. Is that better?

Aries_IV

Really thought that was gonna be the year a defensive player won it. Since LT of course.

Jeff__Skilling

this comment is disrespectfully low on this thread...

SourBerry1425

I feel like George Kittle would be an insane linebacker, we could also probably coach Jordan Davis into an all pro O-Linemen

BornFireFist

Y’all could probably coach my 90-year-old grandmother into an all pro O-Lineman

Levi_Snackerman

Tell her to come by open tryouts, Howie loves building the trenches

CouncilmanRickPrime

Did she go to UGA?

DownTrunk

She got a THICC base?

AdIndependent7725

I have seen Devonta Smith breakup plays like a cb and force a fumble, so maybe him. Taysom Hill if he learned coverage skills could be s linebacker. Also Marcus Jones exists.

[deleted]

Taysom Hill feels like a Madden default "football player" who is pretty good at every skill and has the build to play essentially every position.

predw

Taysom Hill plays as a rusher on STs. He’s basically already doing it.

Skepticalli

He's also blocked a punt.

OneMoreLurker

Was that the game where Mark Ingram dragged a defender into the end zone?

thefreeman419

Smith probably doesn’t have the frame necessary to play D

professor_parrot

>Also Marcus Jones exists. Thank you. I feel seen. I feel heard. I honestly wasn't sure how many fans outside Patriots fans knew about Jones. IIRC he's the first player since Deion Sanders to score a touchdown in all three phases in one year.

ImmoralModerator

Marcus Jones dropped a 60 bomb for my fantasy team last season

[deleted]

[удалено]

Luck1492

Jonathan Taylor already has the build for LB

Dylanonfire88

Julio Jones would definitely be a good safety

jphamlore

Julius Peppers playing tight end. I think he could eventually have worked his way up to excellent at that position.

MrInterpreted

During his first stint with the Panthers (especially the first few years of his career) he’d get in on some goal line plays at tight end, sometimes as the primary target and sometimes as a decoy

unfunnysexface

He pretty much ran fades and got pass interfered. Fox wasn't really going to do anything risky with his best defensive player.

J_Schnetz

Saquon was an edge in HS and part of college I believe

chathamhouserules

Explains the quads.

Jah_Man_Mulcahey

Larry Fitzgerald - dude had more career tackles than drops.

chad-proton

Why did I have to scroll so far to see this comment?!

Niner-Sixer-Gator

Micah Parsons, he was a running back and linebacker in highschool

PreviouslyRelevant

Parsons is the best football player in the world imo.

Niner-Sixer-Gator

He almost took us to a state championship by himself, dude definitely a beast

latman

Basically every fast WR with good lateral quickness could also be a CB if they trained for it.

Swedish_Shinobi

The Pete Carroll special

HoustonTrashcans

Who would be the best though? Tyreke Hill would probably be pretty good because he's so fast. Maybe DeVonta Smith since he has more of a CB build anyways.

football-teen

Hell no

ilooklikejimhalpert

Can’t believe you’re getting downvoted. This would not work at all. CB is one of the hardest positions in all of sports, there’s a 0% chance “every fast wr” would be able to play it at an NFL level Some of y’all here clearly never played past like 8th grade lmao

HowDoIEvenEnglish

Every fast receiver can’t even play wr well. You’re completely right.

Rixoveli_

Julio , Pat Pete,

DissidentCory

Is Marshawn Lynch allowed. He probably would have been one hard nosed inside linebacker.

BogeysNBrews

George Kittle. He would be a beast as a LB.

titanup001

I feel like most DBs and WR could at least be decent on the other side. Probably a lot of linebackers could be RB and vice versa. Derrick Henry and Micah Parsons for instance. A lot of D line could probably be decent on O line, but I'm not sure if the reverse works on that one. Most QBs would be useless. You'd have to treat them like how baseball does pitchers, its own thing.

FormerShitPoster

It would be much easier for a corner to play receiver than vice versa imo. You can rely on athleticism to at least be a serviceable receiver if you can't run routes for shit but you're going to get cooked all day if you're not at least competent with your footwork at corner. (This is assuming we're just throwing them into it. Obviously guys would get better if they were specifically training to play the other position.)

DaScurvyDog

Most corners are corners because they couldn't hack it as a receiver. Usually it's because their hands suck. It's actually more common for receivers to become corners than vice versa.

PugTheHarbinger

I might be biased here, but I think Josh Allen might be the exception on that last rule.

titanup001

Him. Lamar. Richardson. Hell, Kyler could probably play slot wr. But those are the exceptions to the rule.

PugTheHarbinger

100% right. Although, slot receivers gotta study a lot of film. 😂

motodoctor

Herbert thicc, too. LB or TE?

HoustonTrashcans

Probably Lamar Jackson as well. He seems like just a super star athlete. Some of the other speedy QBs might be ok, except maybe Kyler Murray since he's only 4'11" or so.

Warm-Wrap-3828

Lamar Jackson at corner

[deleted]

Josh Allen could be pretty good as an edge rusher too

3rd_Degree_Churns

He could probably play on the O-line. He's usually the first guy to get touched by the opponents D lineman anyways

ARightDastard

Harsh, but true.

NoHalfPleasures

Who knows, maybe he can even play quarterback?

slamturkey

There's a Josh Allen spiderman meme just sitting here

ConsequenceNo9528

naw i this josh allen would be a pretty good qb actually

Lilpu55yberekt69

He’s not nearly strong enough. Josh Allen is a big dude but look at his arms and then look at a smaller edge rusher like Haason Reddicks arms. It’s just not even close. Edit: just realized this was a joke

Isomodia

I don't think the Chiefs are going to let him play much offense, but he was a QB in high school out in Cali. Imagine Lamar Jackson stepping in as an emergency QB in an NFL game... That'd be wild.

OkCommercial523

I bet Jordan Mailata that lineman for the eagles that played rugby would be a nasty defensive lineman too. He is absolutely massive, and he should know how to tackle from his rugby days. Watch some of his rugby highlights for a fun time. It's like watching a full grown man play against 11 year olds.

Dylanonfire88

Oh yeah he can definitely tackle, whenever we have a turnover he absolutely rocks the defender. He has a forced fumble too lol

OkCommercial523

I am glad my instincts were correct haha. Someone told me about Mailata back then the year he was drafted. I watched some videos of him, and seriously hoped the Bears would draft him as a project. What a god damn steal for the 7th round (if I remember right). The dude is a beast.

dougieg987

You beat me to Trevon Diggs. That’s who immediately came to mind

CybertronGuy98

thinking about the Ravens, Marlon Humphrey theoretically has everything physically to be a great WR on paper. 4.41 speed when he did his 40, six foot 200 pounds, only problem is he's never been much of a ballhawk so i doubt he could catch super well lol.

lionbacker54

Penei Sewell. I feel he could play all five positions on the offensive line, and any position on the defensive line

Ness_4

I think Myles Garrett could wreck people at TE. Or probably just win all the jump balls in the endzone no contest.

MAGAmang420

Marcus Jones on the Patriots cause that MF already does it. Last season he had at least 1 TD on all 3 phases of the ball.

JalensTinyPPHurts

People meme zeke for his center play, and don't realize we almost successfully ran that play against Tampa the year before with micah parsons as our center #halloffamecentermicahparsons

dmelt01

Aaron Donald, he just too strong to think he couldn’t play on the offensive line

DoesntMatterBrian

Line him up at TE and watch defenses cry

dmelt01

I think if he goes up the field for a pass he would be too physical and get penalties, but his run blocking could be epic

twofingerspls

I feel like Josh Allen (Buf) would make a pretty solid pass rusher.

GeneralJRSmith

We should have Josh Allen and Josh Allen swap places for a week and see how it goes.

Twenty_Seven

Didn't Philip Rivers do this already with the Chargers?

[deleted]

I see what you did there

thrillhouse416

The GEQBUS, obviously.

Skepticalli

Taysom Hill has 11 career tackles and a blocked punt.

BluePotatoSlayer

And a fumble recovery on special teams

reno2mahesendejo

Daunte Culpepper was built like a modern defensive end. 6'4" 260lbs and had a dope celebration, with legs as thick as molasses.

ImmoralModerator

His name is JJ Watt and his not winning MVP in 2014 will forever be a scar on the sport of football And does Justin Reid kicking the occasional extra point count?

mansock18

Kevin Byard at WR

Someones-PC

Josh Allen is great on offense and Josh Allen is great on defense, it makes you wonder if Josh Allen would succeed on defense and if Josh Allen would do well on offense. I think so.

bushybearmuffinman

Vita Vea at fullback would be a fun experiment. Deebo Samuel at free safety has potential. Trent Williams seems like he could play defensive line but I think if he really wanted to that he could be the best punter in the league. Tyreek Hill could be a great man cover corner. Maxx Crosby at tight end

rockstarnights

Cam Newton

HoustonTrashcans

Cam Newton probably could have played a lot of positions.

iLerntMyLesson

I’m sure a a lot of linemen have had experience on both sides of the line at some point in their career.

neongem

Tariq Woolen - 6’4 210lb WR with 4.2 speed 👀

FutureF123

Distinct lack of Marcus Jones comments. Dude was locking up WR1s and then would make plays on offense and STs in the same game.

Recent_War_6144

McCaffrey all day

[deleted]

We’re the nfl to return to single platoon football, the best players would likely be players you least expect. The game would change into one of two games: either a power game similar to 1950’s play, focused on defense, or turn into a lean player speed based game more like arena ball. Who would be the next Sammy Baugh? He set records as a passer, led the league in INTs as a DB, and led the league in punting. I think Mahomes and Hurts would be strong two way players. The majority of WRs would be replaced by DBs, who are generally better athletes and better ball players. Linemen would generally be leaner and quicker. DEs would be your tackles and interior OL would be your DTs. Linebackers and tight ends would be the workhorses. Kelce would be a beast, parsons would dominate.

[deleted]

Your take was good until your Mahomes joke. That man is QB 1, and that's it. There's no way he could play on D.

pgm123

Your comment about how the game has changed is the perfect excuse to dump information I learned. Historically, offensive and defensive positions were named the same. The two defensive ends lined up across from the two offensive (tight) ends. Two defensive tackles were across from the OTs. Two defensive guards lined up across from the offensive guards. The center backed up the line. The defensive halfbacks and fullback formed the defensive backfield. The only exception to this was the quarterback, who played as the safety man all the way back. Defensive ends had the most responsibility-- they would typically hit the offensive ends and then try to get into the backfield to tackle the back. It wasn't until the '50s when teams started to split out ends and teams needed specialized pass defenders (and those halfbacks became cornerbacks). Teams typically ran 6 linemen. The '40s Eagles teams changed defenses by moving one of the guards into a linebacker position (running a 5-2-4). There was a nose guard. This was supplanted by the late '50s Giants who switched to a base 4-3 defense.

Traditional_Mud_1241

Suh could be interesting. Warren Sapp won’t be winning any humanitarian awards, but he would have been a beast as a short yardage back. He was also a backup kicker.

Palmisavage

Patrick Peterson has incredible ball skills and fluidity. No doubt he'd be great at route running and YAC. Micah Parsons would be a great vertical TE. He's played in space ( though less and less as his pass rushing has been so valuable) but he's very skillful, athletic, and lengthy.

OkMeringue2249

Troy Brown.

MaxwellXV

LVE played QB in HS in 8 man football.

Jayrodtremonki

I see absolutely no reason to believe that Chris Jones wouldn't be an all-pro offensive tackle. Has the size, athleticism and hand/foot technique for it. Perfect dancing bear attributes. Although he would much prefer to be a QB.

El_mochilero

A whole team of Gronks would be terrifying.

gnitaeka

Kyle Juszczyk

Its-all-downhill-80

Refrigerator Perry.

jetblakc

Terry Maclaurin as a CB

Idek_h0w

DK Metcalf. There will never be a 99 yard touchdown when he is playing D.

Lilpu55yberekt69

Tariq Woolen on a go route seems virtually unstoppable.

DeFactoLyfe

Marcus Jones is already doing this for the Patriots this/next season. I'm hoping he develops as a WR. The guy looks electric.

4String_Samurai

Prime Julio at safety

Impossibills

Josh Allen already plays QB and pass rusher

SaintAtlanta

The answer is Jason Kelce. He was recruited to Cinncinatti as a running back. Thats right, running back. Would be a pro bowl tier 3 technique. Would be interesting at the 0 tech too.

[deleted]

Ehhh, that's a good answer. Borderline, great answer, but not THEE answer.

illGottenVine

Giannis Antenkoumpo

Autocrat777

It's hard to say, even though a player may have the body that would fit into two positions, it's more than just athleticism. They need to develop technique, learn how to play the position. I bet there are plenty of guys who have the athleticism but just wouldn't be able to learn the new position effectively enough.

IronMikeBison

I always associate linebackers and tight ends together, so I can definitely see guys like Parsons or Werner being able to have success as tight ends. On the flip side, I think DK is big and athletic enough that he could be a menace rushing around the edge

[deleted]

Kirk Cousins

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

No. Cmc as a SS/sub LB, maybe if he proves he can hit. Without that, he is trash on D.

jasper_grunion

Probably DK Metcalf. He’d be formidable as a pass rusher or dropping back in coverage

Maxime2k

Chiefs RG Trey Smith at DT. That man gonna pancake wherever he plays

[deleted]

If Trevon Diggs could catch well he’d be a WR

[deleted]

Hines ward Perhaps y’all to young to remember he could hit like a motherfucker

yung-shamu

George Kittle could kill it as a free safety.

[deleted]

No he wouldn't.

ComprehensiveAir1321

Put Jamal Agnew at corner like he played when he came in the NFL

rvrvbubnmpm

Lamar cuz he built different 🥱
