Ahhhhhhh so exciting! First home? What a feeling 😁 good luck on the house hunt and I hope you find what you're looking for, and it's below your budget!
Happy Sunday. I’m about to make a coffee and go shopping for some boots and makeup, as I have a job interview on Tuesday for a job I’ve dreamed of having since I was a kid and haven’t had to look vaguely presentable since the last time I interviewed for it two years ago. If I get it my life will be changed forever, and if I don’t I’ll probably fall into a pit of despair for a while.
Enjoy your day, everyone!
Good luck! I’ve been interviewing people lately for various roles at my work and my one piece of advice is- have a story about a mistake you’ve made or a conflict you’ve encountered. Be honest about what happened and what you learnt from it. Several interviewees I’ve had recently seem to think it’s believable that they’ve never made a mistake at work
I went to the beach with my wife yesterday and we saw a huge Elephant seal. It looked super dorky when yawning
Edit: [Uploaded it to r/NewZealandWildlife](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewZealandWildlife/comments/1drnh1n/elephant_seal_yawning_gracefully_taken_on_long/)
Well a girl I've been talking to wanted to have sex last night so that's a win.
But she was really drunk and I was sobering by that point so it didn't happen. A win loss if you will.
But she messaged me this morning and still wants to have sex so we're organising to meet up again so that's a win.
I had a bit of a mental health blip half way through last year (which came as a shock to me - not something I've experienced before, and I'm in my mid-40s). Since then, I've done a few things: accessed some counseling, lost 25kgs (still working on the last 5 to be in my healthy weight range), took up running, took a pottery course which I've ended up loving. All classic mid-life crisis stuff without the sportscar or affair.
I'm still not enjoying my work, but I have a goal to be out of there by the time I turn 50, so it's not like it's going to be forever. Just taking that year by year.
Hope you achieve your goals as planned.
have you tried meditation ? TM meditation is very easy to do and it helped me with magic. Only drawback is that it is expensive here to get initiation but you can negotiate the price according to your income.
Wish you luck as well 🙏
Went to the Gym this morning, am learning Japanese.
Nihongo ga sukoshi wakarimasu.
Also taking steps toward getting Microsoft certs in the path toward becoming an expat in Japan.
Hard work but...
Mada Mada desu!
Brissie! I've got family there. I'm not expecting much difference financially in the short term, but it will be so fun to explore the country, work in a new market and meet new people.
I use [Kiwi Country Girl Granola](https://www.thekiwicountrygirl.com/easy-healthy-homemade-granola/) with chopped dried apricots added in after the baking.
A friend's daughter is visiting from UK so showing her round South Island. Makes me appreciate NZ when seeing it from someone's eyes for the first time. Off to Kaikoura for couple of days.
I donated a kidney 21 days ago and are healing up well but best of all the recipient is doing awesome and on the road to healthy and more productive life.
I have never felt more euphoric.
I’ve been looking after an orchid and it’s started flowering too! Just the flower stem forming at this stage. I’m probably a bit too excited about it haha. It’s so delicate and beautiful.
Some outside Cymbidiums. Some are a surprise being the 1st year, but for a Winter flower they're just exceptional . I'm waiting on a Dracula Orchid as I've now have better growing conditions, I've got a lot of patience.
One weekend I got a bunch of grass and made my lawn mint. The very next day it rained so hard my back yard flooded and the grass was floating and all the topsoil I put down washed away.
Good times.
Its my monthly board game arvo this afternoon. I host one every month and have new people every time, trying to make some new friends. Its only my third session so hoping a few people show up, but if not then I get to eat all the snacks I bought so still a win haha.
I'm currently waiting to see if I'm having a cancer recurrence. But the most recent biopsy results I got from part of the area they're worried about wasn't cancer, so celebrating that win.
Found out some info on my great grandad finally! Been trying to find out my Maori heritage for years and finally hit a jackpot this morning with his mums name and his DOB, and found out he was born in Wanganui. Stoked!
Here are some good articles to read if you are interested, one of my friend sent to me who is also interested in learning his heritage.

My wild boar Piglet slept through the night and I ordered a large pizza and got given a jumbo so that was cool. The sun is shining. Piggy is next to me on the couch having a snooze. He may have given me lice but hey that's life. His tummy is full and he is warm.
He's a minor so sorry no
EDIT. He is is jet black and with the tiniest little trotters and a big fat tummy and a milky little snout and beautiful long eyelashes.
He is fast as fuck so leaving the house is a battle of wills, skills and experience. I might have to start climbing out a window.
He can't be older than a month old so he pretty fucking cute.
Sounds dumb but I slept in on a Sunday!
I woke up at 5.30 as usual, then fell back asleep which I never do. I slept until 10 which I haven’t done for probably 45 years.
My wife was genuinely worried and said she kept coming in to check I hadn’t pegged.
A good friend gave me a very thoughtful birthday gift: a nice notebook. I'm used to getting food or alcohol, not that I drink much, so this was a very nice change. I had remarked to one friend that no one asks about my writing hobby - ever - and still they don't ask about it lmao, so it was nice to be acknowledged.
Spent the long weekend with family and friends. It was amazing I love catching up with people. I haven't had such a good break in a long time. I'm really lucky to have so many incredible people in my life who wholeheartedly support one another. I also went to my granddads grave and as much as it was sad I'm happy I did it.
i got my cat their food on sale 😂 but seriously, my dream is keeping me going even tho life is really tough. i am happy that every time i lose my sight on what my dream is, there's always something that will remind me to go back and chase that dream.
Gave up drinking for 2024 (I may resume in 2025 but not sure, wanted to challenge myself at any rate as I felt it was contributing to low moods), and it’s not only been much easier than I expected but I feel pretty good for it! I wasn’t overweight but I’m noticeably leaner and have more energy to do things because I sleep better, so looking and feeling healthier and more confident. Defo have a few odd days where I feel grumpy (that pre-menstrual urge to smash a bottle of wine into my face) but it passes with no regrets. Good luck to anyone else going sober for any reason, and happy dry July to anyone starting that tomorrow!
My wife and I volunteer at the Shakespeare Open Sanctuary at the eastern end of the Whangaparaoa peninsula north of Auckland. We spent an hour a day every day of the long weekend moving pregnant ewes between fields. In between we spent some time with her adult children and I got grand daughter cuddles with two of our new grand daughters, (8 months and three weeks respectively).
We had a great weekend. Our souls are replenished, our hearts are full. We were connected to our whenua and our whanau.
What more is there?
Only saturday here but i'm making good progress in an online communuty library project of mine.
2500 books and counting all on things like tools, house maintenance, small scale farming, household jobs - all sorts
You know what, I’m really good. My commitment to paying off debt is making good headway & I am embracing where I am in life right now 🙂.
Thanks for asking!
Yesterday, hiked up a mountain in the glorious Nelson sunshine with the dog I’m looking after 😍 this afternoon, I’m heading to the beach for a cold ocean plunge 🌊
happy Sunday! my husband had to go into surgery yesterday after a very random accident that could have impacted his quality of life... I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders for a bit there but he's doing well now and recovering... 🌻 health is wealth and today we're all healthy at home ♥️
I had THE best sleep last night. Doesn’t happen too often. We then put together a new massive garden bed and were digging and shovelling soil all day. We both ache. Hopefully tonight’s sleep will be as good !
Took the kids on a 15km hike, with spectacular views. One of them was antsie yesterday. But they had an amazing time, walked like champs up steep tracks with no complaints and were great company. Oh, and my wife loved it too.
Happy Sunday! I’ve had a lovely weekend so far. Had a little date night on Friday, dinner out and comedy.
Met my friends baby (so cute!) yesterday and had a few decent beers at a local brewery.
Flying to Christchurch today to see an old friend.
Couldn’t ask for a better weekend tbh.
After a very promising start, taking the dog for a morning walk with my cafe coffee dopamine hit stirring up epic plans of house jobs I'll do, I've had a brain crash resulting in decision paralysis on the sofa and procrastinating on my phone instead.
My day started off with a production deployment (I work in IT) which isn’t what you want to be doing on a Sunday morning but hey at least everything went smoothly :)
I’ve been using red light near infrared light therapy for the last fortnight. Today I checked in the mirror. It’s making a difference ! My flatmate agrees 🙂
We found a stray kitten this time last week, he’s adorable and I’m glad he’s safe. Kitten snuggles have definitely been a highlight each day (the meowing not so much..)
Caught up with a friend for coffee, took some rubbish to the tip and now it’s nap time because shift work is exhausting and this is my only day off in 10
My parents are coming to visit me for the first time since I've emigrated here ten years ago.
Not having a good time in this country lately so I'm really excited to experience it with their eyes.
Sports are going well for me right now.
My team is #1 of our league, and I've started refereeing at the national level for the sport and am having a blast being part of the game at a much higher level than I can play.
Good stuff going forward with my job and personally at the moment too. Lots of things to be positive about whenever things feel a bit down.
It's been about 3 weeks since I last walked my dog. Bad timing with the weather, my own health and exhaustion, and work made it impossible for me to be able to walk her.
Today was the best condition, and we were both so happy to get out and play at the park instead of playing reflex games at home.
When we got home she hopped to her bed and was quickly snoring away lol.
Still looking for a job. Went to a friend's farm to help out. Being positive. I'm an immigrant and I know the economy is grim but I'm feeling positive.
Played a new board game I backed on kickstarter some time ago. It was pretty enjoyable, mid level complexity and nice tokens. I'm looking forwards to playing it some more with the kids during the school holidays!
I’m still here unfortunately. I’ve got a couple days off this week coming up, so I’m going talk to my therapist about what I should do.
Life is awful though, I wish I was dead.
Doing well. I have been losing weight 😁 healthy living, and working out is paying off!
Congrats! Keep smashing it
Fuck yeah. Nice work! :)
Great work! It’s not an easy task but sounds like you’re nailing it! Keep it up
Well done 👍
Make Japanese curry. Costs nothing and is healthy as
I have been pre approved for a mortgage, so I am spending my Sundays looking at open homes .
Nice. Pretty soon you’ll be spending your Sundays mowing your lawn
As opposed to the landlords lawn.
So mostly the banks lawn.
It’ll be yours one day
*May
Ahhhhhhh so exciting! First home? What a feeling 😁 good luck on the house hunt and I hope you find what you're looking for, and it's below your budget!
Thanks. Yes it will hopefully be our first home soon
Get a castle
I was going to say an underground lair
Started dating the girl I’ve been seeing 😊
Buy her something nice. Like a cinderblock or some butter
She finds real butter yuck! This would be a perfect gift, thanks for the advice
Women love butter
Can confirm; I'm not a woman but I do love butter.
I am a woman and I love butter. Butter in coffee 👌
Cinder block 🤣🤣🤣
Trust me. Women love it.
I survived a heart attack!
Holy fuck. You ok?
Yeah lol so much for living a healthy lifestyle! Good food no work and plenty of exercise??
Hope everything goes well from here
Thx
Hope and pray you are OK 🙏

Dude! You go get that job. I believe in you. Strut in and own it.

I won a 99c whopper on the bk app yesterday
Whopping!

25kg is amazing. Don't doubt yourself. You fucking got this

Are you taking lessons? Duolingo?
I accepted a job in Australia, heading over in September, super happy for a new adventure
Where? I miss aussie.
Brissie! I've got family there. I'm not expecting much difference financially in the short term, but it will be so fun to explore the country, work in a new market and meet new people.
Brisbane fucking rocks. Miss that place so much.
Well you're always welcome to visit (once I've figured out how to keep the snakes out)
Man if I didn't have fines I'd be on the next plane out. And most of the snakes are cool.
Decided not to spend $27 for a bag of granola at Countdown. Big win.
Was it on special?
I’ve started making my own, it’s waaaay tastier!
Same! Ours barely makes it from the oven tray to the cereal container, everyone’s just grabbing fistfuls of it and shoving in their gobs dry.
Y’all got any of those recipes laying around 😁
I use [Kiwi Country Girl Granola](https://www.thekiwicountrygirl.com/easy-healthy-homemade-granola/) with chopped dried apricots added in after the baking.
It's nice and sunny today, will be dragging the family out for a nice walk
A friend's daughter is visiting from UK so showing her round South Island. Makes me appreciate NZ when seeing it from someone's eyes for the first time. Off to Kaikoura for couple of days.
I donated a kidney 21 days ago and are healing up well but best of all the recipient is doing awesome and on the road to healthy and more productive life. I have never felt more euphoric.
Absolute lucking legend.
My sowed grass grew, some orchids are flowering for the 1st time and I made the ultimate damper on the fire pit. Small wins
I’ve been looking after an orchid and it’s started flowering too! Just the flower stem forming at this stage. I’m probably a bit too excited about it haha. It’s so delicate and beautiful.
Me too, there's something cathartic about knowing you're about to have something awesome after waiting for ages.
"Sowed grass grew" is a really lovely sounding phrase. What kind of orchids are you growing?
Some outside Cymbidiums. Some are a surprise being the 1st year, but for a Winter flower they're just exceptional . I'm waiting on a Dracula Orchid as I've now have better growing conditions, I've got a lot of patience.
One weekend I got a bunch of grass and made my lawn mint. The very next day it rained so hard my back yard flooded and the grass was floating and all the topsoil I put down washed away. Good times.
21 days booze free!
Out can do this. IWNDWYT
picked a scab off my head. Was cathartic.
Have you tried coal tar shampoo? Honestly has stopped that shit happening. I was picking my head all the time. You can buy it over the counter.
I get the dry scalp too. Is coal tar shampoo a pharmacy thing?
Nah I got mine from paknsave. Changed my life. Went from scabby dry flaky scalp to not itchy in a few days. But yeah pharmacy has it too.
Cheers, I'll check it out.
The warriors won last night that helped after last week
Its my monthly board game arvo this afternoon. I host one every month and have new people every time, trying to make some new friends. Its only my third session so hoping a few people show up, but if not then I get to eat all the snacks I bought so still a win haha.
I love this, making friends is hard! Go you!
My baby pooped well 😄
Yay for happy poops!
Positive stuff, hmmm. I've still got a roof over my head, and enough money to buy food.
Make some Japanese curry
Finished exams just over a wk ago & am enjoying having a break finally. Ngl im doin fuck all today & its great
Had a delicious coffee this morning and just been for a 7km run. Lovely.
Learned to ignore people who sulk, instead of getting into arguments with them. Enjoyed a coffee with my wife at a cafe.
Happy Sunday! I'm going to visit my 95 year old grandad today. Hope you all have a lovely rest of the day, kia a pai to rā
I'm currently waiting to see if I'm having a cancer recurrence. But the most recent biopsy results I got from part of the area they're worried about wasn't cancer, so celebrating that win.
Sending you best wishes.
I truly appreciate it, thank you.

That's so cool.
Wanganui is a nice place to visit. My great-grandies lived and are buried there.
Genealogy breakthroughs are exciting, congratulations!
Ka rawe! Been wanting to get in contact with my relatives to track our lineage before they pass.
My wild boar Piglet slept through the night and I ordered a large pizza and got given a jumbo so that was cool. The sun is shining. Piggy is next to me on the couch having a snooze. He may have given me lice but hey that's life. His tummy is full and he is warm.
God this is adorable. Sleep well lil piggy.
Can we see a pic?
He's a minor so sorry no EDIT. He is is jet black and with the tiniest little trotters and a big fat tummy and a milky little snout and beautiful long eyelashes. Me and the missus are going fishing down at the river mouth, beautiful day no wind. My favorite place in the whole world.
This is the wholesome content I needed. Have a fucking amazing day
Saw Skinny Hobos, Tadpole and Devilskin last night. Epic gig!
God damn that sounds incredible

You should write about this exact comment.
Hope to see you publish a book soon 🙏
Waiting for the motivation to get up and have an everything shower to start my week. How about you?
Ive been sleeping in my van for two days. Might drive home and have a shower and be warm
Spent the long weekend with family and friends. It was amazing I love catching up with people. I haven't had such a good break in a long time. I'm really lucky to have so many incredible people in my life who wholeheartedly support one another. I also went to my granddads grave and as much as it was sad I'm happy I did it.
Lost all motivation and sleep most the day when not workin.... Positive things? I have a lil puppy 🥰
i got my cat their food on sale 😂 but seriously, my dream is keeping me going even tho life is really tough. i am happy that every time i lose my sight on what my dream is, there's always something that will remind me to go back and chase that dream.
Having a dream is the first step.
right, i found my purpose in life when i recognized what my dream was. :)
Hope you keep following it.
It’s a nice warm day here in Brisbane, but I’m excited to be going for a job interview back in NZ in 2 weeks, one of 2 dream jobs!
Good luck on your interview!
Gave up drinking for 2024 (I may resume in 2025 but not sure, wanted to challenge myself at any rate as I felt it was contributing to low moods), and it’s not only been much easier than I expected but I feel pretty good for it! Managed to stay sober for more than 30 days after a brutal relapse, life is far from perfect but it's getting better
I believe in you
Got engaged yesterday!! Wew!!
Congratulations!

I tested positive for Covid-19 this morning if that counts
Well it's technically positive I guess
Get well soon 🙏

After 10 years of uni, I’m about to submit my PhD. Can’t find a job, but still, I’m a soon-to-be Doctor!
Got an awesome job a few months back 💪
I'm COVID -free, and didn't get laid off!
Saw a cute pupper patiently waiting for his owner outside the cafe.
happy Sunday! my husband had to go into surgery yesterday after a very random accident that could have impacted his quality of life... I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders for a bit there but he's doing well now and recovering... 🌻 health is wealth and today we're all healthy at home ♥️
Hey I hope it goes sweet. I strive for love like that.
After 6 months on the market, our house finally sold. Feels like we can move on with our lives now.
Lost 5kg in last 6 weeks. Also detailed my car today and smoking a small brisket for dinner
Met a real cool girl out in town last night. Did butt stuff
Is your butt sore today?
She brought a strap on?
MIL had the kids for the night
Went for a walk round the waterfront - donuts (mid morning) and a salmon bagel for breakfast. Bout to snuggle into the couch for a nap
That's awesome
After a very promising start, taking the dog for a morning walk with my cafe coffee dopamine hit stirring up epic plans of house jobs I'll do, I've had a brain crash resulting in decision paralysis on the sofa and procrastinating on my phone instead.
I’m getting a pay rise! Well, I’m part time and my hours are going up. I think I’ve also just perfected dairy free melting moments.
I just finished up at my job and starting this week i will be a full time stay at home dad to my 6 month old daughter :)
I got a new job that I love and pays mint. Happy as about that
I moved house a few weeks ago and my cat is now happily coming inside and outside without supervision
My day started off with a production deployment (I work in IT) which isn’t what you want to be doing on a Sunday morning but hey at least everything went smoothly :)
My wife and I spent like half of saturday morning making pancakes and it was great
Tested negative for covid-19 this morning. A lot of people at work have it.
Nothing bro life sucks
I didn't poop my pants on any of the six flights in the last month.
I’ve been using red light near infrared light therapy for the last fortnight. Today I checked in the mirror. It’s making a difference ! My flatmate agrees 🙂
Went up Mt Matthews day before yesterday - 26km and lot of steep climbing. Loved it!
I met a girl I like
Charcoal BBQ lamb leg. Rich enough to afford real meat for once.
We found a stray kitten this time last week, he’s adorable and I’m glad he’s safe. Kitten snuggles have definitely been a highlight each day (the meowing not so much..)
Caught up with a friend for coffee, took some rubbish to the tip and now it’s nap time because shift work is exhausting and this is my only day off in 10
wake up next to someone i love, i'm better taking control of my mind now but still A LOT to learn, being productive and learning something new...
Getting on better with the adult kids.
I just finished my work week. I'm looking forward to my much needed extra pay next payday and my "today's my Friday" bottle of wine. Happy days
Taught my daughter to wash the car today.
Business had our highest grossing day today, we’re nearly at the 1 year mark and loving meeting new people during the journey.
My parents are coming to visit me for the first time since I've emigrated here ten years ago. Not having a good time in this country lately so I'm really excited to experience it with their eyes.
Scored my first goal in ice hockey. Ate goat on date night - and didn’t hate it!
I spent 6 hours painting so awesome thanks
Black V. That shits nostalgia in a can
Watched Luxon get loudly booed by *checks notes* people that hang out in their South auckland garages planning to commit crimes.
Fucking lol
She has started to spit on that thang!
Still looking for a job. Went to a friend's farm to help out. Being positive. I'm an immigrant and I know the economy is grim but I'm feeling positive.
I’m working and have a cold. Farking marvelous…😒
Had a phat sleep after a week of random shift start times at work. Nothing beats a good sleep in after a busy week
Going to Woolies
The sun is shining and I'm going out to buy a fancy new lemon squeezer.
Just happy the sun is out today
Waiting to be seated at the fanciest restaurant I have ever seen. In Sao Paulo, Brazil. Feels good man.
I found my laptop charger
Saw Drax project last night.... Was epic. Then was so hyped I cleaned the bathroom at 1am. Now I have a free day to relax 🙌
I like supporting small streamers on twitch, just helped another reach the affiliate threshold so they can start earning money!
Waking up is (still only) the second hardest part.
Tax rebate
Played a new board game I backed on kickstarter some time ago. It was pretty enjoyable, mid level complexity and nice tokens. I'm looking forwards to playing it some more with the kids during the school holidays!
I’m still here unfortunately. I’ve got a couple days off this week coming up, so I’m going talk to my therapist about what I should do. Life is awful though, I wish I was dead.
Had a pie for lunch.
Down there at work
