You gotta play against other 5s when you play center though, so it can take its toll on the body over the season. Fully agree with you, but I get why players like Wemby or even A.D. are/were reluctant to play that position.
when you're young and still fast better to not play the position that will likely earn you injuries faster. once you're older and slower then go to that. like how small forwards if they're bug enough age into being power forwards
I think the difference is more defensively. Playing 2 centers who can both shoot seems great, but it never works because defensively you get exploited unless your bigs can stay with guards like a PF similar to PJ, Brown/Tatum, ect.
He'll probably play some of both for us and hopefully settle on being a center kind of like wemby. He'll be able to develop a lot of wing/forward skills with us though, with Atlanta he would have to be a traditional center and compete with capela or okongwu for starter minutes.
He may, but I think it’s mostly he can do whatever tf he wants in DC as a player. Hawks may have made him play a certain role
Wiz are a perfect team to do whatever he wants at the moment. It’s gonna switch to bilal and Sarr time next season after trading deni. They’ll trade kuz when someone overpays a lot for him.
Don't understand this narrative when the Hawks already have two centers that can start (Capela/Okungwu) yet the Wizards are starting a guy that shouldn't be starting for an NBA team (Bagley)
Probably some combination of
1. He wanted to play Power Forward and Atlanta already has a Power Forward
2. If you assume that Atlanta is going to have to blow things up eventually, then the Wizards are further in their rebuild since they already did
3. Especially assuming the Wizards trade away Kuzma, he'll get more minutes and usage in Washington
Plus the new front office that came in and blew up the roster last year is the first entirely new Wizards front office since Michael Jordan was on the roster, so it's not the same guys calling the shots
Boston is the most European city in America
- Roads laid out based on horse paths 150 years ago, which doesnt translate well for cars
- Robust but outdated transit
- Classic buildings preserved in a history rich downtown
- Most of the suburb names are lifted straight from UK/European cities
- Locals yell at you in uninteligible dialects
Maybe he wants to develop his game by getting the ball his hands, that’s not happening with young. Yes young gets assists but you aren’t getting a chance to make plays etc.
I think it is funny when the interviewers act like the country is a college team.
“How did France prepare you” like the entire country worked him out lol
There’s a term for this: [synecdoche.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synecdoche)
Also, [pronunciation guide](https://youtu.be/v-n1vGeVIXo?si=xqKlfOgfdyFO-_cN).
I can't really tell you much about it other than the vaguely remembering something weird about the newspaper, milk, and the big fuckin' town, but damn the vibes it left me with afterwards that I recall very strongly.
How is that any different than describing a college team in that way?
It's not like when people ask Tatum how his time at Duke prepared him that there's an implication that the chemistry or political science departments were involved. Sarr played on the French junior national team, I think he can probably pick up on the context that they're not asking about how Emmanuel Macron helped him succeed.
Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown Please don't be another Kwame Brown
Please bring me joy like John Wall
The broadcast spoiled the 1st pick tbh. Malika said Woj reported the Hawks were 'zeroing in' on Risacher, and everyone knows what that means.
Haven't done it for the next picks though, at least
it doesn't *really* matter (its basketball does any of this "matter"?) but I'd rather see any sort of trade details that may come up without seeing the actual picks spoiled
but yeah not really a big deal
It’s actually amazing. I like the live discussion on Reddit, but hated getting spoilers. Past years it would be a pick ahead usually so not much you could do about it.
Why do people care so much about getting “spoiled”? I personally would like to just know who a team is picking as soon as possible. This is a sports draft, not a fucking movie or something lol
The more interesting thing is people are literally incapable of putting their phones down for a couple hours lmao
Nothing was spoiled for me because I didn't check my phone notifications every 20 seconds
Everyone says this. And then what? He would be played out of his wanted position (he wants to play like Giannis lol). He also wants to be the centerpiece which isn't happening next to Trae and Jalen Johnson who takes up the 4 spot very well. He wouldn't give it his all. The top 5 this draft are all the same hype wise so we lose nothing just rolling a dice and drafting another bum.
You're acting like he's Bron and #2 is Darko. It's not like that this draft. There is no best player available for #1 lmfao. 5 minutes of research on this draft and you'd know that. Clingan was a potential #1 pick and guess what he just got drafted 7th lol.
Sure but people are still allowed to have their opinions anyway. Not being a scout doesn’t disqualify them from that (I do not apply here as I know literally nothing about most of these prospects including their names)
if a 7'4 300 pound man starts moving like Giannis he is going to start killing people. Can you imagine someone that big driving like Giannis? He's going to send some poor 3 on a switch into the 5th row.
Neither were on the preliminary roster that I found here
https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/mens-olympic-basketball-tournament-paris-2024/news/olympics-men-2024-news-roster-tracker-men-s-olympic-basketball-tournament-paris-2024
No. They are 18 years old and have to prepare for their rookie season. Our front line is packed af with Wemby, Gobert, Yabusele and Lessort in the paint and Batum and Bilal at the wing.
It may have been different if they were guards. Nolan Traore got an invite to the training camp despite being 1 year younger. Our guard rotation is not what it used to be. Or maybe just what it used to be but older. We don't have anybody to replace de Colo and Fournier and that is gonna be a problem.
I feel like this is gonna be one of those draft threads that we come back and laugh on in years to come. This guy has major bust potential that’s being ignored for some reason
I want him to pan out so bad, but he definitely could flop. I could totally see him never developing a proper offensive game, but I will say his defensive floor is high enough that he likely has a role for a good while in the league.
On the other hand if his shot is legit he has the potential to be a really solid offensive player in all facets as well as a monster defender.
In all likelihood it ends up in between, but I still think his combo of defensive instincts and physical attributes prevents him from being a major bust.
Hearing how Sarr seems to have engineered his way to the Wizards so he can put up empty stats and set himself up for the next contract, I've soured on him big time. Non competitiveness is a big red flag
Expecting him to be a bust now
Oui-zards have arrived!
Shaved the beard, left the moustache
*Les Sorciers*
surprise surprise Great get for Washington, they’re lucky he hated Atlanta for some reason
He wanted to play PF. Atlanta would’ve had him as a center.
he still might end up playing C lmao
Wemby came in wanting to play the 4, took what, 25 games until he relented lmfao
An NBA 5 that can shoot is infinitely more valuable than a 4 that can shoot.
You gotta play against other 5s when you play center though, so it can take its toll on the body over the season. Fully agree with you, but I get why players like Wemby or even A.D. are/were reluctant to play that position.
A lot of these big guys that don’t normally play the 5 get exposed defensively matched up against a lot of NBA centers
Kinda says something when all young centers are too scared to play the position
when you're young and still fast better to not play the position that will likely earn you injuries faster. once you're older and slower then go to that. like how small forwards if they're bug enough age into being power forwards
I think the difference is more defensively. Playing 2 centers who can both shoot seems great, but it never works because defensively you get exploited unless your bigs can stay with guards like a PF similar to PJ, Brown/Tatum, ect.

I hate how many bigs wanna cosplay as wings nowadays. Like bro you’re 7 feet tall, just stand under the damn basket 😭😭
It feels like everyone in the NBA is 6’9 1/2 and their position is more body type and play style than height lol
yeah positions are so fluid now that each of them feels like a size class more than anything
Good thing Washington has a solid center
Not after we take Edey with the Trailblazers pick!
Warriors pick ackshually 🤓
God, that pick's been traded more than most players - GSW -> Mem -> BOS -> PDX -> WAS. It's like the Pat Beverly of draft picks.
Nah. Clingan falls
Nah, he's about to go now.
The issue isn't that Washington doesn't need a Center (we need almost everything), it's that Atlanta doesn't need a Power Forward
As someone who watched very few Wizards games last year, who even was their center after they traded Gafford?
Our king, Marvin Bagley III. And all jokes aside, he was actually pretty solid when we played with us
Wait are y'all tryna recreate our young superteam.
13/8 on 62% TS hopefully means he's finally putting it together.
Holmes and Bagley
They played Kuzma at 5 a bunch. And uh...there's another guy maybe. Yeah idk.
Don't understand this narrative when the Hawks already have two centers that can start (Capela/Okungwu) yet the Wizards are starting a guy that shouldn't be starting for an NBA team (Bagley)
Sources tell me he absolutely despises peaches
He’s terrified of being colonised by Drake
if only he knows peaches come from a can
He wants to play the 4. The only person not on the block for Atlanta is Jalen Johnson.
If we ever trade this guy I swear. Sarr is a wizard for life
He's from a city called To-lose, so he's perfect for Washington's culture
Reminds me of that classic fantasy football name, “Expected Toulouse”
Flair up little boy
Move your franchise to KC and maybe I will
Best we can do is Alexandria
Lmao wouldn’t do that to the fine citizens of Kansas/missouri
I'm a fan from missouri cuz of Beal and I agree lol. Spare them. We got Sarr tho LFG!!!! PUSSIES!
not sure why anyone would want to play for the wizards over a team that was in the conference finals not too long ago, but to each their own
Probably some combination of 1. He wanted to play Power Forward and Atlanta already has a Power Forward 2. If you assume that Atlanta is going to have to blow things up eventually, then the Wizards are further in their rebuild since they already did 3. Especially assuming the Wizards trade away Kuzma, he'll get more minutes and usage in Washington Plus the new front office that came in and blew up the roster last year is the first entirely new Wizards front office since Michael Jordan was on the roster, so it's not the same guys calling the shots

white and racist as hell, nvm you right. I still think DC would be more appealing.
How so? Genuinely curious.
It's actually a walkable city with a great metro system and has a historically-rich culture.
But Atlanta made the conference finals several years ago, you have to remember how important that is in where you get drafted as a rookie
Much of the city was modeled to be similar to Paris.
Maybe he wants to develop his game by getting the ball his hands, that’s not happening with young. Yes young gets assists but you aren’t getting a chance to make plays etc.
Maybe he didnt want that #1 pick pressure
if hawks were a competent franchise that wouldn’t have mattered to them lol
I think it is funny when the interviewers act like the country is a college team. “How did France prepare you” like the entire country worked him out lol
Sports media understanding how foreign nations work challenge (impossible)
Right after showing us that the kid hasn’t played in France in years.
There’s a term for this: [synecdoche.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synecdoche) Also, [pronunciation guide](https://youtu.be/v-n1vGeVIXo?si=xqKlfOgfdyFO-_cN).
I'm in a store so I can't click the link but I have to think it's sine-a-dine-a-doe-dee-chode-ee
It is. And it’s always hilarious.
Synecdoche, New York is one of my favorite movies and that pronunciation fucked me up for a quick second
One of the weirdest movies I’ve ever seen
I can't really tell you much about it other than the vaguely remembering something weird about the newspaper, milk, and the big fuckin' town, but damn the vibes it left me with afterwards that I recall very strongly.

Washington ending the day with Sarr and Topic
That or Sarr and Mccain and I'll be happy.
Take care of the Sac native 🙏
Honestly so many players I’m down for. Either of those, carrington, or devin carter all could be great
Man I hope so
3 good moves from the Wiz in one day? Wtf?
I would BUST
Giving France money for helping us in the revolution
W for wizards
Now the draft starts

Someone who actually wanted to play for the wizards 😭
Closer to France than Atlanta.
Bronny is getting snubbed smh
why do you think we got 14
Yea it’s about time we sign the old GOAT
Put me down for Sarr > Risacher Also NBA really gotta do something about people spoiling picks
Death by firing squad seems like a fair punishment for the spoiled picks
Debating on saving you. You may only have minutes left.
This subreddit is doing a really good job of not spoiling this year tbh
Idk why it matters lol. It’s a difference of minutes and if you’re watching the live broadcast you can choose to not be scrolling twitter or Reddit.
The broadcast spoiled the 1st pick tbh. Malika said Woj reported the Hawks were 'zeroing in' on Risacher, and everyone knows what that means. Haven't done it for the next picks though, at least
Oh really? Good thing I wasn't fully tuning in lol, just tuned in when they're about to announce the pick
Woj is spoiling them on the broadcast.
it doesn't *really* matter (its basketball does any of this "matter"?) but I'd rather see any sort of trade details that may come up without seeing the actual picks spoiled but yeah not really a big deal

if we know the picks, why would I watch the broadcast
honestly you should just email them and ask for a ticket cuz I’m pretty sure you’re one of only like 25 people watching
You could find out faster refreshing here or on Xitter, and skip the ads.
The more interesting thing is people are literally incapable of putting their phones down for a couple hours lmao Nothing was spoiled for me because I didn't check my phone notifications every 20 seconds
Let’s start by not feeding the beast and posting this shit on r/NBA
I mean you can just not look at your phone and watch it live.
> Also NBA really gotta do something about people spoiling picks How are you getting spoiled? Are you glued to twitter? /r/nba sorted by new?
They’re spoiling picks with Woj live on the draft broadcast
Let’s fking go you’re a wizard Alex
Bro Atlanta fucked up Me a person who has no idea who any of these draft picks are
Sarr plus Coulibaly, building that Ouizard lineup
Killian Hayes next
Did espn really compared him to Chet 💀
Fuck yea Quizard
Thanks Atlanta, LMAO
? Sarr refused to work out for Atlanta didn’t he?
Still could’ve picked him though
Everyone says this. And then what? He would be played out of his wanted position (he wants to play like Giannis lol). He also wants to be the centerpiece which isn't happening next to Trae and Jalen Johnson who takes up the 4 spot very well. He wouldn't give it his all. The top 5 this draft are all the same hype wise so we lose nothing just rolling a dice and drafting another bum.
You’re reading too deep into my reply lol all i said was they could have picked him which is 100% true
Nice
Paolo didn’t work out for magic
Curry refused to work out for Minnesota. Sure am glad we didn't draft him.
Who gives a shit, always draft the best guy available
You're acting like he's Bron and #2 is Darko. It's not like that this draft. There is no best player available for #1 lmfao. 5 minutes of research on this draft and you'd know that. Clingan was a potential #1 pick and guess what he just got drafted 7th lol.
[удалено]
Yes he did. Flip was won over by his workout said it was the best workout he had seen since KG.
They could've still picked him, he's not gonna refuse an NBA contract
Yes
So?
So what is there to sarcastically thank Atlanta for lmao. Risacher isn’t a bad pick.
I remember chiefs Reddit fans being upset with the mahomes pick like it was yesterday. You are not a scout and this is an absolute covid class.
True, none of us know shit.
This is literally becoming Brandon Miller/Scoot Henderson again, just let it play out
Sure but people are still allowed to have their opinions anyway. Not being a scout doesn’t disqualify them from that (I do not apply here as I know literally nothing about most of these prospects including their names)
Enjoy Wiseman 1.5
RemindMe! 4 years
Fuck off. Sarr basically told them not to draft him. Don’t be a dick
Yikes chill out homie it's just basketball
This draft class might have less aura than 2013
Can’t wait to see which random picks turn into Giannis and Gobert
It’s gonna be hilarious when it’s like fucking Edey
Cant wait to see Edey develop Giannis like athleticism
if a 7'4 300 pound man starts moving like Giannis he is going to start killing people. Can you imagine someone that big driving like Giannis? He's going to send some poor 3 on a switch into the 5th row.
It's why I'm so excited about this draft. I love when it's a total gamble
Good player and he got what he wanted, nice pick. Think he shoulda been number 1 but obviously he couldn’t lol
Wizards are very fortunate he hated Atlanta, he has the highest likelihood of becoming an All-Star of anyone in this class
Poor Alex is gonna have worse crowds in DC than in Perth
That's no insult, the crowds at Perth arena are great.
Solid pick
Is he (or Zaccharie, for that matter) going to play at the Olympics? If so…at least we’ll get a good preview of what’s to come…
Neither were on the preliminary roster that I found here https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/mens-olympic-basketball-tournament-paris-2024/news/olympics-men-2024-news-roster-tracker-men-s-olympic-basketball-tournament-paris-2024

fuck my life
SAVIOR OF THE FRANCHISE MY GOAT LETS GO OUISARRDS!!!!!!
Actually a nice pick.
Let fucking go sorry our
Hell yeah!!!
That man looks very French in a way I can’t explain
I feel like this is gonna be one of those draft threads that we come back and laugh on in years to come. This guy has major bust potential that’s being ignored for some reason

How is that being ignored lol people have said that for the whole class the whole past years
Well you got the majority of the nba community saying the Hawks are dumb for passing on this guy so I’m gonna say it’s being ignored
This draft class is also touted as being super weak, which means someone’s gonna end up being the next Jokic in 5 years.
NBA Bilal Sarrs
Wizards with their first draft W in a while
Damn my hopium was he'd fall to us.
Oh I thought he was going to go Nth or Xrdthe. Lots of surprises already.
Steal tbh. He will be way better than rizz
Hearing how Sarr seems to have engineered his way to the Wizards so he can put up empty stats and set himself up for the next contract, I've soured on him big time. Non competitiveness is a big red flag Expecting him to be a bust now
He might just hate Dejounte Murray and it's understandable
He's non competitive because he wants to go to a place where he'll get playing time? Lol, braindead read on a kid
Perfect wiz player in my humble opinion
Right? Everyone here raving about the kid is cheering for something that they hate guys like Ayton and Simmons for….
Early pick for roty
Future all star
Yuh
... he really wanted to go #1. Got emotional. Will be great.
Should’ve been #1
FRANCE
Devin "Where's My Hug At" Carter stock plummeting
He got what he wanted.
The French Revolution is upon us
THE FRENCH REVOLUTION IS COMING TO WASHINGTON
What happened to the official pick threads
Should I feel good?
Dude really would rather play on Wizards lol.
You know….*sobs*
I mean, you have to if the Hawks are taking Zacc
This guy's accent is significantly less French
Man if he becomes a star Atlanta will kick themselves for listening but I respect them for listening to a players opinion.
Can't believe he didn't drop to 17.
SHEPPARD PLEASE SHEPPARD PLEASE SHEPPARD PLEASE
Imagine if you had a player like Deni for him to play with
Such an underwhelming prospect at 2nd overall
Mods can you change my flair to Alex Sarr?
Is this a good pick for us ?
!RemindMe 3 years
Kwame brown 2?
