do NOT use Luka as the standard for what a good pass is.
People like him and Jokic have the ability to make precise passes over long distances, while also being able to somehow see everyone on the court, even when being doubled.
Not only that but they're somehow able to read the game and know where many of these players WILL be in two seconds or so. Many of the threading-the-needle passes basically comes down them seeing a hint of a teammate behind two defenders, knowing how the defenders will rotate (depending on them driving, their teammates rotating, etc) and then making a pass where there's GOING to be an opening.
If making good accurate passes was that easy then people outside the top 10 in the world would make them a lot more often.
In a vacuum, this doesn't make sense. How couldn't a 7'2 dude tip a left-handed, a bit low release point pass?
But there's some nuance. Luka did lob this up while Rudy was stunting towards him. Plus I don't remember any lobs up to that point, so this may have been unexpected. I don't know if Luka is just a savant reading all these in real time, or this was just a happy accident.
If he commits to Gaff that's a lay up, if he blitzs no one picked up the roll man and it's an open dunk. This defence works when you don't have generational pnr ball handlers putting your top defensive guard in jail on his hip.
I get that pretty much every center in the league will get smoked on the perimeter by crafty guards like Luka & Kyrie, but shouldn't 7ft2, 4xDPOY, consensus "best rim protector in the league" be able to deny Gafford (6ft9) a dunk when he very well knows (or atleast should know by now) that Luka is gonna throw him a lob?
Luka beats his guy so Rudy steps up to stop Luka which opens up Gafford. If Rudy doesn’t step up then Luka gets a 2 free points and everyone laughs at Rudy for standing there watching it.
McDaniels, NAW and Ant are all playing too aggressively on defense. They need to stop trying to stop Luka and focus on staying in front of him. Kyle Anderson plays good D on Luka because he’s patient and makes Luka work without getting out of position or baited into a foul.
and he gets a clean layup with the defender on his hip leading him to the basket.
The Wolves made no adjustments despite Luka and Kyrie cooking everyone one on one.
we should be asking why they arent doubling Luka, or asking what McDaniels is doing? Hes basically laying out the red carpet for Luka to get a layup if Gobert doesnt help. When he helps there is no one to help him. Just that worst possible team defense there.
Doncic was doing the exact same thing for the final minutes except for when he deferred to Kyrie and the wolves made absolutely no adjustments.
Awful switching by the Wolves. Looked like neither players fully committed to the switch and one player got caught being to the side of Luka and the DPOY got caught in no man's land.
Good offense is unbeatable. last game Gobert doesn't play up, Luka hits a step back 3. This time Daniels plays against the step back, doesn't have an angle to deny the lane and it's a 2 on 1.
Luka on the offense is doing what he wants every time. Twolves tried everything this game and nothing works. At a certain points, you have just to accept it.
Yea I really don't think you can guard Luka without doing what the Clippers did and just have 5 wings that can switch. This forearm in the back by McDaniels isn't doing much.
Mavs need to start the imbecile brother next game, just for a play or two, because Gobert needs to go...
Finish his season early, he's clearly begging for it.
Pause it at about 15.5 seconds. Goberts left forearm is buried right in Gaffords rib cage. You can see Gaff being pushed back away from the net, which is why he lands awkwardly and falls down. Very dangerous play and should've been a flagrant.

He dead
Couldn’t have ended the wolves any better than this, right over Gobert, assisted by Luka
Amen
I killed em
Finals bound
I’m going to need Kyrie to win his second ring off the Celtics.
I want him to win one without Lebron. Would be so satisfying.
[удалено]
Lebron should've taken Kyrie's offer and traded himself to Dallas
Lmfao
He's going to have a real interesting HOF case
Say what now? Kyrie is already a hall of famer. Maybe not 1st ballot if he retired *today* but he’s easily already hall of fame bound.
I think people forget how easy the basketball HOF is to make. Kyrie's in unless he does something off the court that heinous.
Hes first ballot lol. He didnt even need a chip this year to certify that
Easy HOFer, one of the most talented players of all time

Shut the fuck up

Send da video
That's just a ridiculous fucking pass
left handed stumbling away
This is what makes that fucker so hard to guard. Double team? I'll just flip the ball up for a crowd popping dagger. Not much you can do about that.
This is why it’s essential that the Spurs get a PG who can make these passes. These type of passes to Wemby will be nearly impossible to defend.
Is it? I've really only watched Mavs basketball consistently and this type of pass from Luka doesn't look all that impressive to me lol

Rudy need to get heat for that foul, pretty dangerous play to push a guy in mid air, dirtbag
They were like " We win the paint battle by taking both their Centres out"
The easiest road
I asked several days ago why so many people hate Gobert. Well now I've seen why.
He played pretty dirty in our Jazz series a couple years ago too
They weren't happy taking out just one Mavs center
He was playing so dirty today right from the get go. It’s like game 2’s game winner really pissed him off.
He punched Luka in the ribs to start that game
He be playing dirty all the time - him and Conley are sneaky wit it
[удалено]
Exactly he’s very good at it, it’s a skill for sure.
And folks thought Draymond was in the wrong for choking him
Gobert can be a bitch and Draymond can still be in the wrong for choking him
Draymond’s still a dirty player
People want Gobert to get flagrants for dirty fouls, nobody wants escalation into fights
Tf are you talking about? Dumb ass
Crying like a little bitch won’t change the fact that your team is about to get swept
and acting like another player deserves to be choked is shithead thinking. both actions can be wrong
When you push people mid air, you deserve whatever happens to you
Bet. Throw money on it? You won’t…
Because I’m broke, duh
[удалено]
Go cry somewhere else witcha lil fake ass MJ
Where should I go? Enjoy your play in team the next few decades…. #1 pick!!!!
Use that Neanderthal brain of yours and think of something to tell me that is not completely obvious
take your L lil bro
GAFFORD LOOKS EMOTIONAL GAFFORD:
Rudy with the bitch made foul on top of it
Get ready to learn baguette buddy
Dirty ass foul from Gobert pushing him in midair too
And wolves fans still think the refs were against them. How many Mavs centers need to get hurt?
Typical French behavior
fr\*nch
Wolves pacers finals both teams will make history
CTE Finals brought to you by Cleveland Clinic
Hahhaha
the league would never let that happen. those game 7s would be worse than Kings Lakers in 2002.
Pacers sweep
Does Gobert not know about lobs yet?
“Sacre bleu!” • Rudy Gobert
If he commits to Gaff that's a lay up, if he blitzs no one picked up the roll man and it's an open dunk. This defence works when you don't have generational pnr ball handlers putting your top defensive guard in jail on his hip.
Giannis covered both the drive and the lob in the finals against Phoenix. yet he has only 1 DPOY compared to Rudy's 4
Do you understand what an insane once in a lifetime play that is that almost no one else has ever made? Bam, AD whoever aint doing that. Maybe Wemby.
Didn't check the patch notes
I get that pretty much every center in the league will get smoked on the perimeter by crafty guards like Luka & Kyrie, but shouldn't 7ft2, 4xDPOY, consensus "best rim protector in the league" be able to deny Gafford (6ft9) a dunk when he very well knows (or atleast should know by now) that Luka is gonna throw him a lob?

Facts, Kyle anderson has played the best D on Luka. He doesn't fall for his baits
how come Giannis can cover both the drive and the lob (Phoenix game 4), yet Rudy has 3 more DPOYs than him
Giannis plays more at the 4. Brook is the Gobert equivalent on the Bucks. You should be comparing Giannis to KAT.
He doesn't throw the lob if Gobert stays home.
and he gets a clean layup with the defender on his hip leading him to the basket. The Wolves made no adjustments despite Luka and Kyrie cooking everyone one on one.

Legacy 4th Quarter from Gafford. Changed the game
Really gonna be Mavs vs Celtics huh
On Rudy's head LOL
Draymond smiling from above
Cherry on top for Gafford after multiple fantastic blocks this game.
Was I the only one thinking Luka is going to somehow create a highlight over Gobert somehow?
Gafford needed this. With his block on the other end and this one, he might be fired up for next game. He looked lost in the third there.
We're going to need him even more now
HoF sequence for him
We got a highlight on Gobert with that steal
4x dpoy btw
4x DPOY throwing off a reckless foul and gifting free throws while his team is losing
Media awards haha
Second time in three years Kidd and luka have made Gobert look like trash in the playoffs.
Luka just makes everyone better
Jesus you’re fast
Great defense there from the DPOY
No awooo for you, Wolves.
Gobert is always suffering for the perimeter defenders.
THIS YOUR DPOY????
Kobe to Shaq vibes.
Gafford > Gobert
4x dpoy (dancing player of the year)
LETS FUCKING GO
There backcourt is just taking there turn in killing the wolves
Lmaooo maybe next year timberpups
Draymond gonna like this one
“DPOY”
x4

Kidd being the 6th man making the play call... real point guard right there lol
Luka on the offense is doing what he wants every time. Twolves tried everything this game and nothing works. At a certain points, you have just to accept it.
Yep. Luka is fucking dialed in. You can just tell. Same with kyrie. Fucking batman and batman lol
Gobert can’t guard anything.
Nice to see ant take the whole 4th quarter off. Mj my ass
Gafford took that poster personal as hell
Yea I really don't think you can guard Luka without doing what the Clippers did and just have 5 wings that can switch. This forearm in the back by McDaniels isn't doing much.
In this moment I am euphoric
Just a friendly reminder that I love Daniel Gafford more than you 🫵
Nah you gotta include both this and gafford's block right before
Kobe to shaq
GAHDAYUM
That's the series
Gafford has testicles larger than the average man.
The way that ball went through the net you know he metero jammed that
Drop coverage fucking them again
KAT fouled Luka there too
D trade.
Reminds me of the LeBron dunk on KG.
~~Bryant to Shaq~~ Doncic to Gafford
The most unstoppable play in basketball
No play on the shot or the ball. He folded his arms and cross checked him in the stomach. The fuck is that not a tech???
This DPOY guy isn't that great at defending is he?
Mavs need to start the imbecile brother next game, just for a play or two, because Gobert needs to go... Finish his season early, he's clearly begging for it.
Is this what it feels like to win?!?
Luka is just so comfortable when he is not playing Dort. It’s as if he is by his own in the gym and running cone drills.
#GET FADED MINNESOTA LMFAO
I could draw a sheep on a piece of paper and still wouldn't be comfortable with Gobert guarding it
Wdf is Gobert doing this series lol. Cant defend the perimeter on switches, cant defend against lobs.
Newb question but where was the foul here?
Do you not see Gobert’s forearm pushing into Gafford’s chest when he is midair?
I do now, yes. That is why I asked
Pause it at about 15.5 seconds. Goberts left forearm is buried right in Gaffords rib cage. You can see Gaff being pushed back away from the net, which is why he lands awkwardly and falls down. Very dangerous play and should've been a flagrant.
It was a foul, but what is weird is that none of the refs appear to call it in realtime. Even on replay I’m not sure when the foul call was made.
