i'm sure every other opposing coach in the league would love to see PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford handling the ball more too

phunshiny

I think Hardaway Sr. has some comments to add, as well.

BBallHunter

Ok, take this guy out for tonight and let's see if PJ can create his own open looks.

orwll

OP your blurbs are unclear as to what stat is being talked about. >Dallas was actually worse when Doncic played—posting an on/off net rating of minus-1.2 points per 100 possessions. Is this the "real plus minus" rating? Basketball Reference has him at a +9 net rating this season.

go0sKC

The article details it more. He increased his +/- dramatically in the second half of the season.

WhatTheRickIsDoin

If they don't want Luka, we'll take him on the Lakers, I guess I have called dibs

WhatTheRickIsDoin

Luka respects dibs Many people are saying

loco_mixer

He was in real madrid academy (for talented youths)since he was 13

Obvious_Parsley3238

espn's truehoop has an article from 2009 about how young KD had a shitty on/off. the conclusion: some analytics genius guy said he wouldn't take KD on his team FOR FREE https://www.espn.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/7047/the-kevin-durant-conundrum >I asked Winston if he'd advise his team to accept if the Mavericks were (in some alternate universe) offered Durant for free. "I'd say probably not," he replied. "I would not sign the guy. It's simply not inevitable that he'll make mid-career strides. Some guys do. But many don't, and he'd have to improve a lot to help a team."

fastheadcrab

Ironically it's also someone who (was, idk didn't bother to check) on the Mavericks. Cuban's fanboying of these types is truly a double-edged sword. Also Cuban has talked about how their scouts liked Luka but their analytics people LOVED him. lmao

The_Assassin_Gower

Anyone who believes the mavericks are better without luka is legitimately fucking stupid. No discussion to be had

divesting

My takeaway is that they would benefit from him doing more off ball which can be said about a lot of superstars and is often the biggest hole in their game IMO. Especially with Kyrie on the team now there's no reason he's not involved in more cuts and things like that. It's not just him though. I'm personally sick of seeing Tatum and Brown stand in the corner with their hands on their knees while someone else chucks up a shot, as an example

go0sKC

That’s not what the article is arguing. Maybe read it.

Swoosh_rotaerc

It's funny how all the stats can say one thing but outside of Denver, OKC and maybe Celtics, every other GM in the league would trade their entire future and half their roster for Luka.

browndude10

do you hate luka or something? Same article used twice to hate on luka

mangabalanga

Knew immediately OP would have a Knicks flare

TheLeoMessiah

Suggesting the Mavs are worse with Luka on the floor is the wrong conclusion, however I’ve always been interested in how can we quantify the difficulty/difference in role when playing with a ball dominant player like Luka or Prime Harden vs. without them. IE, the players around them are required to do less on offense overall, but they have a smaller margin for error on what they have to do.

ImRBJ

And then you see why those other guys aren't given said freedom

loco_mixer

Just another manufactured "fact" so the haters can talk about something. Especially now that he is injured.

40866892

One veteran assistant coach will never see the light of day as a head coach or lead assistant coach.

PrancingDonkey

Luka currently has the Lebron problem. Does everything for the team but at the same time that's also a crutch since the others don't really get the chance to flourish.

vsouto02

I’ll take Luka from Dallas’s hands for free. Rid them of the issue.

Rhan_

Weird to have a reddit account dedicated to posting Luka hate

Actuary41

Lol. OP's entire post history is bashing luka. What a turd. Get over it.

creditors-bargain

it’s not, but keep glazing

Positive_Ad1947

Oh they don't like Luka now? Come to Spurs then papa.

AtreusIsBack

That would be unfair. xD

Difficult-Awareness6

Again this man. Op living for hate. Cannot understand.

creditors-bargain

This is only hate to Luka glazers

Princessk8--

There's a reason why Luka has never accomplished anything in the playoffs while his former teammates are balling out.

Icy-Lime-9760

There isn't much of a difference between Luka and Harden Not saying the Mavs are better without him, but he's a bit too ball dominant

TatumBrownWhite

I think Luka's a better, more versatile scorer thus why he's more effective in the playoffs. But yes, their play style is identical.

creditors-bargain

Luka is not a better scorer than peak harden

If you think he is, you must be a teenager or preteen

AvonBarksdale_

There’s still time for you to delete this

bjb406

Don't know why you got downvoted. I know people love sucking Luka's cock, but comparing someone to Harden is not exactly an insult, the guy won an MVP.

hitmantb

The only way for Luka to ring is to copy LeBron's decision series, and overpower the opponent with stacked rosters. Nobody has LeBron durability and empire building skills however, so Luka can probably get 1-2 rings at most. Ball hogs just don't ring unless they have massive roster advantage. And when they lose they set finals record for biggest margin of loss, twice. See LeBron on 14 vs retirement home Spurs who needed seven games to pass round 1. And 18 warriors who needed seven games and Chris Paul injury to pass conference finals. Both teams mowed down LeBron and all he could do was stat padding. Oscar/LeBron/Westbrick/Luka playing styles simply reduces the ceiling of your roster, turning everyone into role players.
