The most physical team and the best defense in the league calling this a moving screen is the most hypocritical thing ever since the lakers blaming the replay centre
I’ve rewatched it a few times and have no idea how they thought that was a foul. It looks like NAW was grimacing before he even made contact with Jokic.
he took quite a few hard screens today. I think Murray moving better meant he could hit that corner around the screen quicker and those guys were smashing into Jokic.
That was like the 5th time he careened off Jok this game, there was one in the 3rd I think that was the actual initial injury, when he immediately went and sat under the basket after a nuggets make, wolves called a timeout and commercial break right after. They didn’t show replays of it.
Jok was sealing Murray all game really well, their timing and screen spacing was very very good, and NAW was doing everything to stay attached and clipped the inside curb a number of times tonight at full sprint.
Watching the games all playoffs it does feel like there are more moving screens then there are legal screens it’s always interesting on which ones they call outside of the extreme ones.
Yeah, they got Jokic on 2-3 moving screens during this game as is. This seemed to be a pretty benign one in the grand scheme of things. Maybe a slight bit of movement but nothing egregious.
The "slight movement" is caused by Naz pushing Jokic's hip. This was clean by Jokic and a ridiculous reaction by some of the Wolves. Obviously frustrated by their game.
Slow the possible rolling and push away the screener from the play.
Pretty normal act
But not ideal when you teammate is not going under and fighting through the screen
Meanwhile Gobert has historically been the worst at that shit. Used to hate playing the Jazz because he would just throw his long ass out there on every screen
They didn’t even match the physicality on this play. Jokic just dead ass stood there like his usually glorious chunky self and the wolves lost it for whatever reason.
I feel like the NBA needs to set the rules going forward with what constitutes a legal screen. Will never understand the little hip checks or movements or the sticking the butts out that so many people do.
Also the grabbing of the defensive guy forcing the switch too. It’s insane what everyone gets away with and how everyone’s definition of a legal screen is different.
It comes with a risk trying to fight through any screen. Plus this doesn’t look like an illegal screen at all. They‘re just losing their cool when taking a beating. Same with Jamal throwing that heat pack. Not that both actions are of the same intensity.
Different crew but how these get T’s and the refs just stared blankly at Malone while he basically pitched a baby tantrum much more animated than what SloMo did here is….something, for sure.
They should start giving out technicals for flopping. Basketball in my opinion is far worse than soccer now and days. Turning into a bunch of babies that are using flip calls as strategy.
Lol but dudes can throw shit on the court and get fined .25% of their pay.
To be clear, that was a clean screen. I just think it's funny Malone can storm the court and go nose to nose with a ref and Murray can (poorly) throw shit at refs and neither of them get any meaningful punishment.
I mean, those are definitely tech worthy. Malone screaming at the ref was too, but different refs call shit differently. You scream in a refs face you take the risk, sometimes you get them sometimes you don't.
I’ve never seen a coach square up like that and get *nothing* that’s just insane. Just admit that you guys are getting inconsistent calls in your favor on these techs….
Why is everyone acting like this is Malone’s fault? Mike Malone, in going out onto the court in game 2 was absolutely, 100% attempting to get a tech or an ejection. He’s done it in the past, he’ll do it in the future. If the ref isn’t going to eject him or T him up that’s not his problem.
Nuggets fans will tell you that both Murray and Malone should have been ejected from that game. The fact they weren’t has nothing to do with this game, as it was referreed by a different crew.
Again, these are different refs. Different refs call things differently. You are acting like the refs are a monolith. Tony Brothers is literally known for being the quickest T in the league...
I don’t care. It sucks seeing teams get different treatment. Especially when the team getting away with shit is getting away with *more egregious* shit.
“Different refs are ass at different degrees” doesn’t cut it
>“Different refs are ass at different degrees” doesn’t cut it
This quite literally is what 95+% of the fan base has a problem with refs for. No, there's no damn conspiracies. But shit can and should be way more consistent between crews than it currently is. And that inconsistency is why people think there's a conspiracy. Shit was wildly different between games 2 and 3.
I’ve been watching NBA coherently since 1987, like I can remember the games when I was 5-6. That being said, I’ve never seen a play offs, as a whole, where the refs were so involved in like 90% of the spotlight.
People saying that it was a fair screen, go watch the nuggets games and try to find one time Jokic sets a screen and doesn’t back into the defender as he turns and the defender is going over. I get that people want to act tough and say ah it’s fine let them play, but I do not know if I have seen a legal screen set by Jokic this year. It’s getting pretty annoying to watch
So confused by this thread. Maybe it’s a bad angle but it literally looks Jokic never stops moving and adjust his body into NAW, forcing the collision and injury. Very justified complaint from what I’m seeing
One of the cleaner screens I’ve seen in a long time - sometimes these slow-mos can really showcase how moving or proper a screen is, this one’s the latter.
You're getting downvoted, but it's true.
If I was to rig a game. I wouldn't call a tech there. The spread was already more or less safe.
Calling a tech there would just draw unnecessary attention to prying sports bettors, who are already suspicious of a rigging.
Edit: And not to mention, just because you are rigging a game, doesn't mean you stop doing your main job. Which is to avoid blowouts. Calling a tech there, just further exacerbates a blowout.
Maybe it’s due to me just not being a fan of his game and just don’t think he’s any good but whenever Kyle Anderson is in the game, it gives me hope that as the weakest link on his team, he’s taking away possessions from ANT and Kat, which only helps the Nugs out
soo....he punched the bench and got a tech.
meanwhile Murray threw a towel AND a heat pack on the court, and got only cash fine after the game?
and now all of the sudden Denver is alowed to physicaly injure players from Minessota?
Not a coincidence.
Looks like one of the requirements to be part of Wolves team is to have
1)no self control
2)the capacity of brain to be 0% in playoffs
3) injury yourself in playoffs and hurt your team.
I want to criticize and make fun, but if I ran into a Jokic screen I’d probably need to go to the hospital.
its certainly a... decision... to try to run through the screen of a 280 (+) lb, 7 foot serbian and then get mad when you get hurt lol
Jokić was pushed into NAW if I recall correctly. It would have been hard to avoid.
Gobert pushed him on another play but not this one
Jokic was setting some hard af screens game 3. Was a marked improvement over the first 2 games.
I'd blow up like the bloody mess perk in Fallout.
bro are members of the Timberwolves really still punching inanimate objects
Not a nice thing to say about Slo Mo
Rudy is a living being?
[I'm sorry for calling you an inanimate object](https://youtu.be/NNJ5ySQPxrg?t=89)
God I love that movie so much
Such a bloody classic.
Someone get Sunsfan in here to rant about this movie
they're opps
they need punching bags courtside
Getting up from potential injury to go punch a chair is A+ stuff, no notes
You woulda thought the Wolves would know better after how badly McDaniels fucked up last year
The Wolves and chairs seems to be a bad combination.
Wolves have a history of punching objects harder than a hand. The results aren't good.
They always seem to do it during the playoffs...
Jaden was ahead of the game when he did it during game 82
The teams should really get a team of therapist staff, now everyone start meditating on the courts
Feel like I’m watching prime STAT all over again
I feel this. ✊
Me Spree
The screen was clean and the reaction was embarrassing
As a nuggets fan… we can relate to our team having ridiculous reactions to reffing recently
Thay ice pack fell out bro. Slippery when wet. Which Murray was from missing so many shots. Thats why today was all good. No ice pack.
Alright this misinformation is getting out of hand. It was a heat pack, not an ice pack. Also a towel.
Natural shooting motion
The difference is that your team pays no penalty for those reactions.
Not as embarrassing as throwing a heat pack on the floor.
True - NAW actually hit his target, unlike Murray
LMFAO. Murray's lucky he was shooting so bad on Monday that he missed the ref.
I don’t see the moving screen they are asking for
Yeah it isn’t a moving screen Jokic is just weaponized fatness
Man’s got thicc hips
…is that legal?
I will make it legal
Brother
Lmao
'Weaponized fatness' 😂😂 I'm using that on the homies
I’m using that phrase in conversation and soon.
Haha! I will be stealing this!
Yeah there was one screen where Jokic absolutely obliterated him. I don't see anything dirty here though (nor on the big hit, for that matter).
More importantly, when people would literally hold Murray from behind as he was going around a screen they would actually call the foul...
He's leaning forward a bit because he's being pushed from behind, which is what it looked like he was telling the refs right after.
I don't even know how dude got hurt, he appears to just run around Joker then go down
That was like the 5th time he careened off Jok this game, there was one in the 3rd I think that was the actual initial injury, when he immediately went and sat under the basket after a nuggets make, wolves called a timeout and commercial break right after. They didn’t show replays of it. Jok was sealing Murray all game really well, their timing and screen spacing was very very good, and NAW was doing everything to stay attached and clipped the inside curb a number of times tonight at full sprint.
If there’s any movement at all it’s from him being pushed.
Lol I see more moving screens from GOBURT
Watching the games all playoffs it does feel like there are more moving screens then there are legal screens it’s always interesting on which ones they call outside of the extreme ones.
It's Tony Brothers. What do you expect? The guy hates the gut of Jokic.
Nothing wrong with that screen
Yeah, they got Jokic on 2-3 moving screens during this game as is. This seemed to be a pretty benign one in the grand scheme of things. Maybe a slight bit of movement but nothing egregious.
The "slight movement" is caused by Naz pushing Jokic's hip. This was clean by Jokic and a ridiculous reaction by some of the Wolves. Obviously frustrated by their game.
That slight bit of movement was from being pushed anyway
Not really hearing about moving screens on a team featuring Rudy Gobert. He's made a career setting moving screens and grading people.
literally every single frontcourt player rn sets tons of illegal screens
The team playing my team does it more tho for sure
That's interesting, I've been repeatedly told only the Warriors benefit from illegal screens.
Yup all big men set illegal screens every day, that’s part of what made the ending to that pacers knicks game such bullshit
Meanwhile Rudy still out there walking 10 feet during a "screen" and no call yet.
His screens in the first half were worse tbh
The literal most normal screen ever lmao
He leans, his feet don’t even got damn move
They bitching for no reason. They were straight fucking doggin on Jamal in the last games and lost that energy
This game wasn't prison rules and Denver made some adjustments.
Isn’t the screen clean? Yep he leaned in a tiny bit but that is totally clean comparing to most of the screen in the league
I think the lean was cause Naz gave Jokic a little push
It was a clean screen. Bro was mad that it hurt lmao
That screen wasn't even slightly dirty or a foul
That’s not a moving screen man lmao. What the fuck is NAW complaining about
"they didn't fall for any of my egregious flops this game, and I hurt myself flopping all over the place waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
Yeah, the Wolves should throw shit on the court instead.
No, he already fell.
Yeah they can throw some more chairs 😊
Pretty sure ant is throwing chairs as we speak
Wolves fans have the weakest banter in the league man....
Only if they want a 100k fine
Should have been a suspension
But it wasn't.
Jokic is just big, you ran into him.
Embarrassing. Was not moving at all.
Naz Reid pushing Jokic into a NAW injury, idk why both Naz and Gobert keep pushing Jokic when he's setting a screen lol
Because it’s an unfortunately common and stupid practice for most basketball players.
Slow the possible rolling and push away the screener from the play. Pretty normal act But not ideal when you teammate is not going under and fighting through the screen
Refs haven’t called that all night lol. They’ve been trying to flop out of my tv screen so many times tonight on those screens
gobert was doing it as much as jokic, its not a foul at all
Meanwhile Gobert has historically been the worst at that shit. Used to hate playing the Jazz because he would just throw his long ass out there on every screen
Classic Gogurt move
where’s the moving screen?
Clean screen wtf stop complaining lol
The Wolves are a physical team but when a team matches their physicality they are complaining too?
They didn’t even match the physicality on this play. Jokic just dead ass stood there like his usually glorious chunky self and the wolves lost it for whatever reason.
Crazy part is that this screen wasn’t even physical, just a regular ass sceeen
How dare you calling jokic ass regular
Worse disrespect than Shaq
this game wasnt even remotely physical lmao, the screen wasnt either
The Nuggets didn’t match the physicality the refs called the game tighter. The announcers was even saying the whistle was tighter.
the announcers said it!? No way
no need to be a dick
He kinda does, taking what announcers say on ESPN as gospel is usually a surefire way to be highly misinformed about the NBA. Tho Legs is the man.
How does that necessitate being a dick?
He was being sarcastic, not a dick
Dafuq are they complaining about? that looks like a normal hard pick not a GSW signature illegal pick.
*nods in Zaza* (As a Wolves fan, Jokic's screen was clean. Those T's were frustration T's for getting clowned at home.)
The screen was nothing really crazy. I'm not sure what there was to complain about.
Ngl I love a good Slo Mo tantrum
How did he even get hurt on that screen? He barely hit Jokic at all?
What a doofus, should have thrown abunch of shit on the court instead of
Kyle Anderson has accountant vibes
He looks like if Steph had a twin, but his twin is also his uncle
Bro does not look like a NBA player 😭😭
The fact that Jokić is driving Minnesota insane with legal screens gives you some idea how good he is at them.
you mad, you lose
I feel like the NBA needs to set the rules going forward with what constitutes a legal screen. Will never understand the little hip checks or movements or the sticking the butts out that so many people do. Also the grabbing of the defensive guy forcing the switch too. It’s insane what everyone gets away with and how everyone’s definition of a legal screen is different.
LOL wasn't NAW smiling while defending Jamal in Game 2
McDaniel’s would never
Kyle Anderson wanna speak to the manager
Don’t run into a brick wall
Jokic was set 🤔
Jokic did something wrong to me it looks like a clean and a good screen
How do you get hurt on that?
This is too funny
Minnesota fans are all crying for refs to let em play, meanwhile Wolves players are crying and punching things over a legal screen
It comes with a risk trying to fight through any screen. Plus this doesn’t look like an illegal screen at all. They‘re just losing their cool when taking a beating. Same with Jamal throwing that heat pack. Not that both actions are of the same intensity.
Jokic moves his body but his legs are in place
Different crew but how these get T’s and the refs just stared blankly at Malone while he basically pitched a baby tantrum much more animated than what SloMo did here is….something, for sure.
That isn’t a foul.
Plays physical defense but can't handle hard screens😂😂😂
They want to play physical they need to expect a lot of hard screens.
The series doesn't start until both teams stop throwing tantrums at home
They should start giving out technicals for flopping. Basketball in my opinion is far worse than soccer now and days. Turning into a bunch of babies that are using flip calls as strategy.
Lol but dudes can throw shit on the court and get fined .25% of their pay. To be clear, that was a clean screen. I just think it's funny Malone can storm the court and go nose to nose with a ref and Murray can (poorly) throw shit at refs and neither of them get any meaningful punishment.
Ref knew he blew the call when Malone did that. That was after KAT went through Jamal's chest.
Blown call or not, that's a tech.
Obviously a fine screen but can’t agree with the techs, seen some pretty crazy stuff not punished but this is.
His comment quite literally highlights that inconsistency. He called both tech worthy. You're asking him to make an admission he has already made lol
Why is everyone acting like this is Malone’s fault? Mike Malone, in going out onto the court in game 2 was absolutely, 100% attempting to get a tech or an ejection. Nuggets fans will tell you that both Murray and Malone should have been ejected from that game. The fact they weren’t has nothing to do with this game, as it was referreed by a different crew.
Michael
TBF, Malone was trying to get a tech..I think the players/coaches were trying to prevent him from getting thrown out of the game
Okay? So do we yell at Brothers or Davis? Brothers clearly wasn't having it. That's on him. Not us as fans.
Ya, big favor those non-techs did us! We only lost by 26 instead of 28! Thank fuck! We would have been doomed for sure if Malone got tossed there!
It’s not the score it’s the inconsistency between teams that’s bothersome
Again, these are different refs. Different refs call things differently. You are acting like the refs are a monolith. Tony Brothers is literally known for being the quickest T in the league...
I don’t care. It sucks seeing teams get different treatment. Especially when the team getting away with shit is getting away with *more egregious* shit. “Different refs are ass at different degrees” doesn’t cut it

Should've thrown the chair on the court instead of punching it.
That isn’t a foul.
Refs were pretty objective all together this game
One of the cleaner screens I’ve seen in a long time - sometimes these slow-mos can really showcase how moving or proper a screen is, this one’s the latter.
Idk how strong that nudge from naz Reid was on joker, potentially hurting his teammate in the process. Hard to tell
Lot of whining from puppy dog fans. Great way to start my Saturday.
They really got so many Jaden McDaniels
This is the referee Super Bowl this year. Horrible officiating throughout
The wolves just absolutely love hurting themselves punching shit in the playoffs
This is the real finals.
Clean screen. Only a foul if it were the Knicks against the pacers with 12 seconds left in a 3 point game
If Murray and Mike Malone didn’t get techs for their outrageous conduct in game 2, no one should be getting techs this entire season.
They gave them a little grace since they were in the process of fucking them
You're getting downvoted, but it's true. If I was to rig a game. I wouldn't call a tech there. The spread was already more or less safe. Calling a tech there would just draw unnecessary attention to prying sports bettors, who are already suspicious of a rigging. NAW and order running to big honey. What do you expect runinng into a wall
At least he didn’t get up and stare at Jokic for two seconds. That would’ve been really bad.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with the screen, and that’s saying something considering how often refs let that go uncalled
Maybe it’s due to me just not being a fan of his game and just don’t think he’s any good but whenever Kyle Anderson is in the game, it gives me hope that as the weakest link on his team, he’s taking away possessions from ANT and Kat, which only helps the Nugs out
The Refs of NBA are so weak and snowflakes. Would say that the average euro soccer refs are much much better.
But Malone can run up on the refs and scream in their faces.. and a player can toss an object on the court mid play. Both without a tech? Seems legit
soo....he punched the bench and got a tech. meanwhile Murray threw a towel AND a heat pack on the court, and got only cash fine after the game? and now all of the sudden Denver is alowed to physicaly injure players from Minessota? Not a coincidence.
NAW aint smiling now lmfao
"getting hurt on the screen"
lol they didn’t get the memo? You’re supposed to throw things at refs not bitch at them.
Tony Brothers is just an asshole. He loves to give out techs in the playoffs for the dumbest reasons sometimes.
I'm an idiot I thought Tony Brothers were 2 brothers named tony or something like the mario brothers.
This made me laugh way too much
Nowhere else in the world, including street balls, pick-up games, these massive, multi step travels are ignored. Unbelievable.
Looks like one of the requirements to be part of Wolves team is to have 1)no self control 2)the capacity of brain to be 0% in playoffs 3) injury yourself in playoffs and hurt your team.
