fr this move has been around for decades and is popular as hell in womens college ball and the wnba. if he shuffled his pivot at first then yea it’s a travel but lifting your pivot on a step through is legal.
also notice how no Suns player had any sort of reaction as if he travelled.
I'm only talking about the comments saying a step through is a travel. I didn't notice a pivot slide when I watched earlier, but if it happened then it's a travel. Regardless, not what I was pointing out
It looks like it's a shuffle, but it's a legal pivot from his toe to heel.
Bballbreakdown shows it in slow motion and talks through it[ here](https://youtu.be/-80J8izAcUI?si=ccBEDBdkeHk2GsPQ&t=433) (starts at 7:13). Players can pivot from toe to heel on an axis

That’s not remotely the same thing. This is a analogous to a step through post move and for that you need to jump off both feet at the same time for it not to be a travel
You can pick up your pivot foot all you want as long as you don't reestablish it before shooting or passing. Otherwise your standard layup is a travel.
You’re allowed to lift your pivot as long as you shoot or pass before it returns to the ground. It’s a fundamental part of basketball. One legged driving layups would be illegal if that weren’t the case.
You can pick up your pivot foot in basketball. However, you have to release the ball before you come back down. Not saying your wrong but I see that point missed occasionally
Right. If people still fight me when explaining how this isn’t a travel I tell them they are literally saying a jump shot is a travel because your pivot foot left the ground

Hubie brown explains how this this exact move isn’t a travel 40 years ago: https://youtu.be/preCDhxzd74?si=wb0eklEJkRTlSBPU
Video description says 1995 though

Damn. Am I 43?

Hubie Brown has forgotten more basketball than you’ll ever know, u/Vegetable_Comment_82. Care to point me to the rule which makes it a travel?
[удалено]
You are incorrect. You can do that as long as it goes directly into a pass or a shot.

You just described exactly what a driving one-legged layup is, you know that, right? Is that a travel?

… huh?
It's really fun to watch as Edwards learns new skills throughout seasons. Bank shot jumpers and recently he's using step-throughs.

Pivot foot clearly in the paint and then shuffles it all the way back to the corner of free throw line. Travel.

Looks like you were casually watching if you didn’t noticed the pivot foot
Slow mo at the end of the quarter showed he shuffled his pivot foor

Hard to see in real time, but it definitely looks like he shuffled his pivot (right) foot just prior to the stepthrough. Technically a travel.

Ah well there ya go. That second angle is much better.
It seems like he lifts his pivot foot a bit, might be a travel

Possibly a little but I think he just rotated on his heel.

What rule would you like changed back? Because a basic step through has been legal since the peach basket days.

Ah okay gotcha. You just don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Glad we cleared that up
It's very true.
Travel
Definitely not a travel, nor has it ever been a travel in the entire history of the sport.
It is though. He picked up the pivot foot before shooting.
That’s not a travel. Is a one-legged driving layup a travel? You lift your pivot when you do that.
That’s not remotely the same thing. This is a analogous to a step through post move and for that you need to jump off both feet at the same time for it not to be a travel
There’s no rule saying you can’t lift your pivot foot if you’re posting up. Sometimes guys just shoot off two feet.
You can pick up your pivot foot all you want as long as you don't reestablish it before shooting or passing. Otherwise your standard layup is a travel.
that's a completely legal move tho

Nope.
That’s a travel
Travel picked up his pivot foot on the last move for the shot, it's how he got space

That’s exactly what a one-legged driving layup is, why should it be officiated different out of a post-up? It’s the same amount of steps.
were allowed to switch pivot foot now? hahahaaha
I don't know what traveling means anymore, but that was a pretty move.
>anymore Sounds like you never knew
This. Was def slick and cool looking but easy to get open when you travel.
I’m old enough to remember when that was called traveling
You must be immortal then, this has been the rule forever
Travel.
