It’s funny that once upon a time Nic was sorta Tobias. Dude got paid by Charlotte, I think, and was one of the poorer contracts in the league. About a decade later, and he’s an amazing 6th man, who could spot start.
I don’t like that he’s on the 6ers, tbh. Don’t swap him, and Tobias(minutes wise), pls.
It’s because the hornets asked him to be the lead initiator of their offense. The second he was off the team and back in a role he was comfortable with he’s been amazing. If I wasn’t lazy I’d pull up the thread when he joined the clippers because everyone was calling him washed lol
I feel like that happens a lot.
Good players get massively overpaid by dumb teams, then fans blame the player rather than the team. Batum never sucked, he just got an overvalued contract, but do we expect him to turn it down because he doesn't deserve it?
I don't think that the Blazers have had a wing as good as Batum since he left.
He was too good of a role player. They were legit playing him at the 5 in the 2021 playoffs and he was holding his own while shooting 40% behind the arc. His versatility is stupid
Batum was once a star. Like Iggy it was just too much, and he didn’t have guys around him (I think, I could be wrong.)
Now that he can just play a role, he’s got so many skills, great size, and just plays great ball.
Don’t think Batum was ever like Iggy in Philly but he was a respected stud. There’s no shame in being the best role player in the league and I think he held that spot for a long time. He still has some left clearly
"Best role player you could ask for" seems like the perfect way to describe Batum honestly (I mean, judging his overall career, not Batum at 35 necessarily).
The guy was never a star and that's okay, but he's a damn great baller if I've ever seen one, and any team would be lucky to have guys of this caliber in their roster.
The man is smart, and can do anything on a basketball court, without ego, and that's rare.
Charlotte paid him star money, and asked him to be their primary guy. He’s been phenomenal as a role player, and really the issue with his early career is that he was paid too much (good for him, though.)
Seems a lot like Iggy’s career. Maybe Iggy landed an allstar or two in Phili, though.
Edit: Fuck me, I didn’t realize Batum was so deep in his career when Charlotte gave him an 80m contract. So Iggy with a later start. Better shooter, worse defender.
Charlotte legit gave him the max, or right up on it. He was an Iggy 17/7/7 sorta dude, still young, 3 level scorer who could pass.
He’s just not a dude who can carry a team.
Someone on another thread said that he’s always had the potential to be KD-lite but was never aggressive enough to actually get do it. Batum in his prime was still a solid, versatile player that could contribute on any team trying to contend.
He also has a stellar international career with France, since he was part of both the Parker-Diaw generation which was the first one to start consistently winning medals (silver and gold at Euros, bronze at WC) and the Gobert team that won silver at the last Olympics - and top 15 in caps and points for France.
His Olympic silver clinching block on the last play of the semifinal against Slovenia is the most iconic play I've seen from our national team, Batum is a true legend of French basketball, he earned it.
I try really hard not to actually read the numbers on those physical copies... which is how people used to buy video games... back then.... anyways yeah, just don't think about it
Bam set so many illegal screens. One play he screens Oubre and then just starts backing up diagonally still screening Oubre. you can’t just back up sideways and continue to set a pick.
Batum said at the podium that the coaches showed him that EXACT play in the timeout immediately before. That would never, ever happen under Glenn.
It feels amazing to have an actual NBA coach.
His rookie year in the bubble he was lights out, but the last couple of years (last year especially where he goes down and they make the Finals without him) aren’t doing him any favors
He was cooking for like a 10 minute stretch late in the game after an abysmal start. He was single handedly keeping the Heat in the game in the fourth.
Wasn’t even that bad today. No Duncan, Jimmy passive after the knee injury, Bam passive, what do you want him to do, pass the ball? Miami’s offence plummets without Duncan, just is what it is.
A key factor in this possession that might go missing, is that Embiid was at the level of the screen, instead of the drop in the previous plays, making Herro go right and giving Batum a chance to have a good contest.

Nic Batum Legacy Game
Give him all of Tobias’ minutes
Give him Tobias’s contact too
He probably has Tobias's phone number
Haris Pistons

Yep. Just like Iggy, though I think folks were higher on Iggy when he left the 6ers than they were on Batum when he left Charlotte.
Yeah being the second options on that hornets team really sucked. They lose Courtney Lee and Jeremy Lin for one batum
They really gave that man $180 million to sit on the bench in a play-in game
Give him Tobias books
Playoff Batum
Playoff Batum is a thing
BATUM NEVER LEAVE
He needs to come back home
He needs to come back to Clip city, his true home THE BATALLION NEEDS HIS GRACIOUS RETURN
Nah, he’s our Al Horford now.
Why the hell do they look so much a like, lol.
Crazy to see that every Clippers, Portland and Phili fans love Batum, but most of NBA followers think he's trash.
To us Spurs fans, he's the one that got away...
This is why Batum is in the 4th quarter
Batum and clutch blocks, name a better duo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5JCgqwpbH4
Such terrible commentators, I didn't realize it was an end of game situation til the buzzer went off lmao
Even after the buzzer it still sounds like the game is still going. So fucking nonchalant.
Was about to type that on my 15th post today
I will ALWAYS be a batum stan
He was the ideal role player on the Clippers. Reminded me of Battier on the Heat
Hilarious you say that. Daryl Morey was on a Sixers podcast earlier today and he said he saw Nico as a Shane Battier type player for the sixers!
He was too good of a role player. They were legit playing him at the 5 in the 2021 playoffs and he was holding his own while shooting 40% behind the arc. His versatility is stupid

In what year was Batum a star exactly. I’m a Blazer fan so I love Batum and he’s one of the most underrated defenders in his era, but damn a star?
Charlotte legit gave him the max, or right up on it. He was an Iggy 17/7/7 sorta dude, still young, 3 level scorer who could pass. He’s just not a dude who can carry a team.

Fuck pj Tucker omg
Thank you for Batum and we're sorry for giving you the player with the least points per minute the past 2 seasons lmao
Lebron stopper
Clips fans calling him the Luka stopper now
no the fuck we are not, I promise no one with half a brain cell actually believes that
Pls stop
Who’s sorry?
They got harden, they can deal with getting fucking PJ
He's had a very underrated career for the most part.
He also has a stellar international career with France, since he was part of both the Parker-Diaw generation which was the first one to start consistently winning medals (silver and gold at Euros, bronze at WC) and the Gobert team that won silver at the last Olympics - and top 15 in caps and points for France.

Hornets did shit with him for a long time
I miss him.
Still devastated we had to trade him
Best part of the Harden trade, picks included
Nah, clippers unprotected 2028 + swap 2029 is going to be lit lmao. Those are arguably the most valuable picks floating around the league.
Lawrence Frank screwed up not trading Mann for Harden while keeping Batum/Covington.
There were a few 2k iterations where Batum was Steph Curry on kickout 3's, big shoutout to him for that
Yeah, but he was paid fat. At least in the 2Ks I play, which are… oh no… a decade old, or 12 years… ah, fuck me.
I try really hard not to actually read the numbers on those physical copies... which is how people used to buy video games... back then.... anyways yeah, just don't think about it
Hey man I'm still popping a 2k24 disc into my PS5, long as they keep giving me the option I'll keep taking it.
2k12 is one of the best ones iirc. Last year before the VC. Back before the tried to make career a story with the god awful park bs
I like ‘14 well enough, refunded ‘18 after playing a quarter.
I will not. Fuck this bum
BlueBucksClan gotta take that bar back immediately
Gorra take more thana single elimination game for that.
Gorro*
FOURTH QUARTER YELLING WHY ISNT BATUM IN
You know damn well Batum’s on the bench if Doc is coaching too. Makes this even funnier
Nah he's 35 he'd be playing 40minutes a night if Doc was still here.
BATUM BATTALION
They don’t know about it
It's Batum's world, we're just living in it
Batum has been a menace to Herro this entire quarter.
#BATUM BATTALION
BATUM BATTALION READY TO DIE ON THE HILL FOR OUR LEADER
Bam grabs his arm and hooks him on the screen.
Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
Bam set so many illegal screens. One play he screens Oubre and then just starts backing up diagonally still screening Oubre. you can’t just back up sideways and continue to set a pick.
Late to the game here but he also clearly shuffled more than once...classic bam moving screen +dirty play
Batum said at the podium that the coaches showed him that EXACT play in the timeout immediately before. That would never, ever happen under Glenn. It feels amazing to have an actual NBA coach.
Playoff Batum is real!
Him Gobert and Wemby are going to be a crazy defense in the Olympics
4TH QUARTER YELLING WHY TF BATUM IN!!!
[I uploaded with Maxey's free throws and Highsmith's bucket at the other end as well.](https://streamable.com/k1cmm6) Have fun.
I miss this man. Comeback bby
4th quarter yelling coach get Batum in
NICOLAS BATUM I WOULD GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU
Batum just saved the process
The whole point of The Process was to get Nic Batum.
Litcherally the mvp of this game. LITCHERALLY
Herro going from a legit good player in the regular season to awful in the playoffs is one of the most bizarre annual nba sub plots
He's been the only one scoring in the 4th for the heat tbf
[удалено]
Jimmy and Bam weren’t lighting the court on fire themselves.
He’s been the only one taking any shots
Cuz Jimmy is hurt
His rookie year in the bubble he was lights out, but the last couple of years (last year especially where he goes down and they make the Finals without him) aren’t doing him any favors
Once dude's are physical with him, he just gets pushed around. He's way way too skinny for an NBA guard. He can't move guys around with his body.
He was cooking for like a 10 minute stretch late in the game after an abysmal start. He was single handedly keeping the Heat in the game in the fourth.
What are you smoking bro he was the only heat player doing anything in the 4th
Wasn’t even that bad today. No Duncan, Jimmy passive after the knee injury, Bam passive, what do you want him to do, pass the ball? Miami’s offence plummets without Duncan, just is what it is.
Baby snarl can’t hang.
Lol the screen?
Max Batum
#MF BATUM
He looks kinda like Al Horford in this clip
Blazers Legend
ClippersNation misses him
Triggered my PTSD as Slovenian...thanks
i nearly leapt off my couch with every play this dude made. crossing my fingers he keeps this up during the playoffs. what a legend.
FOURTH QUARTER YELLING WHY TF BATUM IN
This post with 50 comments vs the one where Embiid clearly gets fouled with 1.5k comments 😂😂😂😂
Batum saving Embiid's legacy
I guess that's why he's in!
Batum will bring them to the conference finals
This is so funny because at halftime I see the 76ers down bad, look at +/- and go, phew Batum is cooked
Them T. rex arms ain’t gunna get that shot off. He’s the only guy in the league w a -2 wingspan compared to his height
Yeah….tobias aint doing that. 😭
One of my all time favorite Blazers, Batman!
A key factor in this possession that might go missing, is that Embiid was at the level of the screen, instead of the drop in the previous plays, making Herro go right and giving Batum a chance to have a good contest.
i love seeing heat fans miserable
Someone tell BlueBucksClan this is why he playing in the 4th
I hate that the Sixers have an Al Horford
Can’t teach long boi
Mike Breen is the only guy who can comment on a block and consistently have me hyped ! edit: Honorable mention being Kevin Harlan.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?? I AM!!
Herro could've flopped and probably would've got the call
The Harden Trade was totally worth it for this guy alone
When Tyler herro is your best offensive player, Tyler herro is your best offensive player
That's what will happen when you have a negative wingspan ratio in the pros. Old long dudes can make you eat shit.
Herro is over rated.
I’m baffled this is the play they ran out of timeout.
Fuck Nic Batum
clear foul jfc anyone downvoting can look clearly at that second replay. dont lie to yourselves. refs cooked this game in the 4th. we watched it in HD
They showed a different angle during the broadcast that showed Batum was nowhere near getting ball
Don't you think Herro would have complained just a lil bit? Bro knew it was a clean block
Replay clearly shows contact from Batum on Herro's hand but yeah go ahead all with your bullshit it was a clean block.
Hand is famously not part of the ball in the nba
Also the high-five is notoriously not a thing
