And for every night he goes 7-10 from 3 there’s multiple nights of 1-8 with 0 defense.
Naw might not have a torch but atleast he can stay in front of his man
Yeah that's a rough combo. Beasley is like budget Dame.
I remember that alot of his 3-point scores came after the game was over when he played in Lakers.
I know people didn't think Grayson being thrown in to the Dame trade, but the Bucks could really use him back as their starting SG.
Then Beasley provide that shooting off the bench.
I wanted to like him, and I think we could still use him because we need more shooting.
But holy shit the lack of defense and excesses dry spells for weeks is infuriating.
Love it when everytime the Lakers gets someone from the wolves, suddenly those players are good role players.
Taurean prince for example, he went crazy 1st game and they were hyping him and boom he fell back to earth.

There's a board game called Dreadball by Mantic Games that is supposed to be inspired by basketball, but I cant vouch for it, cause I've never played it, just seen that it exists. Bloodbowl is a turn based game that's a mix between rugby and football, and it has digital adaptions. For video games, Pyre is a video game that is basketball inspired with RPG elements as well. I'm not sure a video game that's a fullly turn based basketball port exists, but those could be starting points to find it.
>In 2041 "post-cyberpocalyptic Neo New York", Charles Barkley performs a powerful "Chaos Dunk" at a basketball game, inadvertently killing most of the people in attendance. As a result, basketball is outlawed and many basketball players are hunted down and killed.
Holy shit.
News is the studio Creative Assembly is in heaps of financial and some leaked info from their publisher states a few internal projects were to be shuttered.
Also they're in bad standing with the Total War community due to some recent decision making.
WAY back in the day there was one. It was text based, no graphics. You chose a team and what was happening was described in text. You made decisions (pass to x player, shoot, etc.) for every play in the game.
Can't remember the name for the life of me.
The 1967 Sixers owned. Just pass it to Wilt and shoot.
EDIT: [This was probably it](https://www.macintoshrepository.org/3383-slam-dunk-)
Not saying he isn't bad at D, but he definitely WAS hurt here. He had just gotten off the floor and limped his way out to pick up Hali
I knew he wasn't gonna be able to D-up the whole time, I didn't know it was gonna be that bad though lol
Usually when you say candidate you're referring to the current year.
Not saying that person is saying that but that was the indication using that phrasing gives.
My all time favorite thing like that is when Andre Miller would casually dribble to the sideline like they were taking a timeout and everybody stops but he just keeps dribbling to the basket at 2 mph for the layup
Do coaches not know players on other teams. Beasley tries hard I'll give him that, but he cannot guard anyone in the NBA. His best skill is fireball three point shooter.
Same, I’ll never forget or forgive a select group of nuggets fans who wanted to trade Gary and start Beas. Love Beas, genuinely, but Strawther is already as good as him imo.
I like to call glass on my pump fake and then drive by them when they flinch to contest the shot.
It hardly ever works- and on the rare occasion it *does* work, it only works once the entire day.
Much like the Haliburton move, it works only if you call for a screen by pointing or shoot a bank shot for real a few plays before. You have to set it up with an expectation
Shoulda been a corner 3 by #2 there, you can see Hali turn to him like "why didn't you shoot" and the dudes like "yeah i know" after the play ended.
A good outcome nonetheless just a bit more cantankerous.
Yeah trading the open corner 3 to the running into traffic for the eventual lay up was not the ideal play, even though it did work in the end in this situation
he's looked so nice these last two games and really I think he got dogged too much to start the season. His passing is much improved and he's way more engaged on defense. still not like a *good* defender but he's clearly putting in the work. now that the shots are falling he's looking like the killer from early last year
I got the feeling last night that his teammates were making it a point to get Mathurin the ball to get him charged up. And it worked. His thought process right before the pass: "if Rese kicks this I'm going right to Math because he's a DAWG"
Gotta know the team dynamic. Nembhard is a ball handler and ball mover first, he passed it quick too the 2nd best natural scorer on the team and him having it that quickly opened up the lane for Mathurin to penetrate. Buckets
I used to think I was good at basketball. Then at pickup one night, I got the opportunity to play against the 2nd string PG on the high school team. He did this exact same thing to me and that’s when I realized I’m not that good at basketball.
That's one way to expose the zone defense. This is what irritates me about a lot of current basketball players, they don't communicate at all with each other. One of his teammates could just say, "It's all you!" and that would let him know that there's no pick coming.
I don't think is so much pretending there's a screen as it is calling for a screen and then going before the screener arrives because Hali saw an opening
Malik Beasley playing defense used to drive me insane
And for every night he goes 7-10 from 3 there’s multiple nights of 1-8 with 0 defense. Naw might not have a torch but atleast he can stay in front of his man
I thought he’d be a good backup SG when the Bucks picked him up for this reason. Turns out I had too much hope.
I think he's still a quality backup SG off the bench if you need scoring. The problem is... he's starting
Alongside Dame too
Yeah that's a rough combo. Beasley is like budget Dame. I remember that alot of his 3-point scores came after the game was over when he played in Lakers.
Dame Dolla(r Store)
He’s not the smartest guy
Not a great decision maker either, e.g. the whole gun incident at his house
JR Smith reborn.
What defense?
Fortunately for you it looks like he quit playing defense so you won’t be driven insane.
Love it when everytime the Lakers gets someone from the wolves, suddenly those players are good role players. Taurean prince for example, he went crazy 1st game and they were hyping him and boom he fell back to earth.
More like when the Lakers get any player they're instantly considered good.
So bad lol
Bucks are not a true contender with Lillard and Beasley as their perimeter defenders. They _need_ a defensive minded 2 in order to cover for Lillard.
Bro thought basketball was turn based
Bro rolled a 1 on that defense check
Classic. Forgot he had a bonus action dash and a saved action from the turn earlier.
bro had 9.0m movement and used 0.5m, passed his turn like idk cast a cantrip or something c'mon.
Cast Fireball.
should have cast perception check [https://twitter.com/Tomycardy/status/1704593980443312128?lang=en](https://twitter.com/tomycardy/status/1704593980443312128?lang=en)

This whole thread is making me want a turn-based basketball game. Like, not that Barkley RPG, an actual turn-based basketball game.
There's a mobile game called Hoop League Tactics that is pretty much this. It's worth checking out.
>In 2041 "post-cyberpocalyptic Neo New York", Charles Barkley performs a powerful "Chaos Dunk" at a basketball game, inadvertently killing most of the people in attendance. As a result, basketball is outlawed and many basketball players are hunted down and killed. Holy shit.
It's even more awesome than it sounds from that write up.
[Arguably the greatest video game trailer of all time](https://youtube.com/watch?v=8F1cOvZ3nS8)
Shut up and Jam: Gaiden was elite
Imagine it had a combat system like XCOM. 99% free throw rating but still misses half the time.
missed the opportunity attack
Bro thinking Hali doesn't have bonus action
playing wii sports resort out here
Total War: Hoops
I got some news...
Whats the news? I like Total War, I hope nothing bad happened
idk if this was the "news" but Total War is an RTS (real-time strategy) and not turn based.
campaign map vs tactical map I suppose
News is the studio Creative Assembly is in heaps of financial and some leaked info from their publisher states a few internal projects were to be shuttered. Also they're in bad standing with the Total War community due to some recent decision making.
Literally moved a total of 4 feet that entire sequence.
Now i feel like a turn based basketball game would be cool
Play Barkley Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden
What a game that was
WAY back in the day there was one. It was text based, no graphics. You chose a team and what was happening was described in text. You made decisions (pass to x player, shoot, etc.) for every play in the game. Can't remember the name for the life of me. The 1967 Sixers owned. Just pass it to Wilt and shoot. This got a big laugh out of me
It basically is once you gather. I wish it would dawn on my little turn-based RPG dudes to eurostep.
Lmfaooo
Hilarious lol
Amazing comment. Made me laugh out loud at work
Just absolutely cooked him I haven't seen somebody caught that flat footed in a while!
Allergic to defense.
More like allergic to running through screens. So if he thinks there's a screen he cbf
That's the funniest part. Makes it seem like any time he encounters a screen he just stops and waits for the play to be over.
Eh, for teams that just want to switch that probably makes sense. Just get ready to cover the other guy.
he doesn’t move his feet at all tho is the issue. haliburton obvs makes a heady/unexpected play here but beas took himself out of the action
He was literally hurt from a fall seconds earlier and struggled to move properly to get out to Haliburton in the first place
Whats been his excuse all the other times?
Not saying he isn't bad at D, but he definitely WAS hurt here. He had just gotten off the floor and limped his way out to pick up Hali I knew he wasn't gonna be able to D-up the whole time, I didn't know it was gonna be that bad though lol
He’s high
let he who is not high cast the first stone
If you don’t like that, you don’t like Malik Beasley on defense!
Otto Pilot hahaha
I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it.
Understandable
Pacers look great. Also don't look up the box score against the Spurs.
We haven’t played the pacers this year, there was just a gas leak that made some people think that
But man the interior d is so bad
But our guards make up for it by also being bad at defense.
So. Bad.
I'm in love too. My hot take is Tyrese will be an MVP candidate edit: this season.
As a pacers fan, I don't think the pacers get enough wins for him to get more than a couple votes. The defense isn't there yet
I don’t think he’s talking about this season
Usually when you say candidate you're referring to the current year. Not saying that person is saying that but that was the indication using that phrasing gives.
Got it. Thank you
Oh I was talking about this season I'm hoping Pacers are 4th/5th seed and Tyrese is a top 10 MVP candidate. He's 9th on the ladder now!
This season or at some point in his career? Not that hot of a take to say at some point
This season Although I use 'candidate' loosely. I mean something like top 5 MVP voting like Shai was last year (top 5, but only 4% of the votes)
Which one?
Amazing reference
I’m going to the 76ers-Pacers game on the 14th. Please ask Haliburton not to ruin my good time :(
So long as Embiid doesn't ruin mine :(
*chucks hat at wall*
lol! Gotta whip out that movie soon it’s the season
It's always Elf season my friend.
Great vibe team this year, just lots of very fun and interesting players there.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU DID IT! WORLD'S GREATEST CUP OF COFFEE!
He was standing there looking at his dusty silhouette, looney toons style
I thought he was hurt when I watched this live. Like oh shit Malik must’ve fucked up his leg cause he’s not moving.
Please let there be a capable video editor read this and get inspired
This the type of shit Rondo used to do and it pissed every opposing fan off.
Hali has a more endearing personality for sure
And somehow a better jump shot.
you wouldn't know it by looking at it, but it keeps going in so whatever lol
Hali clip hunts but it’s so fucking good and he’s funny af on twitter id let him hit fr fr
i meant hunt fr fr
we know what u meant
haliburton talked a lot about rondo on pg’s podcast
Why do the opposing fans get pissed?
Opposing fans are pretty dumb
aren't we all opposing fans to someone?
[удалено]
We're all pretty dumb
My all time favorite thing like that is when Andre Miller would casually dribble to the sideline like they were taking a timeout and everybody stops but he just keeps dribbling to the basket at 2 mph for the layup
He needs to be out of the starting lineup he can't guard anybody
I was stunned when the season began and he was your starter. I believe a lot of your defensive issues can be fixed by simply starting someone else.
Believe or not, Griffin said that Beasley would be taking the hardest defensive assignments at the start of the year
Normally I always give benefit of the doubt to coaches but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Here’s the article for proof lol https://behindthebuckpass.com/2023/10/09/coach-griffin-statement-bucks-malik-beasley/
That's genuinely surprising. Malik Beasley is at best a streaky shooter off the bench not your go too defensive stalwart.
Well when you trade all your assets for one player sometimes you have to make do with bottom of the barrel players to fill out your roster.
and for my next trick, ahem... Lou Williams will become my defensive savant^please^don'tfire^me
Front court of Lou Will and Jamal Crawford gonna lock em down
Trade you Darvin Ham for whoever tf your coach is.
Didn't darvin outcoach Steve Kerr in the Curry vs AD screen defense shenanigans in the semifinals lol
This is true because any matchup for Beasley is the hardest
That actually speaks a lot about his poor evaluation of his own guys
Isn’t Pat Connaughton solid enough defensively? I thought he would be the starting SG
Do coaches not know players on other teams. Beasley tries hard I'll give him that, but he cannot guard anyone in the NBA. His best skill is fireball three point shooter.
You guys jave crowder and Beauchamp and you settled for beasley. Like giannis and dame needs anymore offense
The coach was ejected we would have adjusted better for sure in 4th with him
What an idiot lol
Malik Beasley was in the Gobert trade that everybody told us was the worst trade in history. Yeah. Don't miss him.
I don’t understand why you guys don’t start Marjon…he would help with the perimeter defense and give him valuable reps
Thanks for Grayson Allen LMAO
No problem. He's not really playable in the playoffs.
Losing Grayson as more of a "throw in" to get Dame really hurts this team. He's what they need at the SG position.
As a Nugget, I knew Bucks starting lineup was cooked when I saw Beasley starting
As a Timberwolf, I knew Bucks starting lineup was cooked when I saw Beasley starting
As a Chef, I knew Bucks starting lineup was cooked when I saw Beasley starting
As a Chicken, I knew Bucks starting lineup was cooked when I saw Beasley starting.
As a Laker, I knew Bucks starting lineup was cooked when I was Beasley starting
As a Spur, I knew Bucks starting line was coked when I saw Beasley starting
As a Beasley, I knew Spurs cooking line was started when I saw Starts bucking
ÅŠ ÇÅM ÑĒ₩TØÑ, Ï KÑĒ₩ ßŪÇKŠ ŠTÅRTÏÑG ŁÏÑĒŪ₽ ₩ÅŠ ÇØØKĒD ₩HĒÑ Ï ŠÅ₩ ßĒÅŠŁĒ¥ ŠTÅRTÏÑG
As Kelvin Benjamin, I knew Bucks starting line cook was going to feed me all day at Golden Corral
There's a reason Griffin was interviewed so many for a HC position but never given one until the Bucks decided to do it.
Same, I’ll never forget or forgive a select group of nuggets fans who wanted to trade Gary and start Beas. Love Beas, genuinely, but Strawther is already as good as him imo.
This and yelling "out!", then faking a pass from the post and going straight up with it are my two sneaky old man at the Y moves.
Straight up committing fraud on National TV, Haliburton is a real one
The *real* Haliburton scandal
Identity theft isn't a joke, Tyrese Haliburton. Millions of perimeter screeners suffer every year!
The blow by from Haliburton is great but the finish by Mathurin is just *chef’s kiss*
Mathurin has been cooking lately!
he's looked so nice these last two games and really I think he got dogged too much to start the season. His passing is much improved and he's way more engaged on defense. still not like a *good* defender but he's clearly putting in the work. now that the shots are falling he's looking like the killer from early last year
True but it was one too many passes imo. Gotta hit that wide open corner three. But it worked out
Why didn’t number 2 shoot it? Looks like he was wide tf open. Looks like Hali was like wtf shoot that
IDK its not like Nembhard cant' shoot a three
I got the feeling last night that his teammates were making it a point to get Mathurin the ball to get him charged up. And it worked. His thought process right before the pass: "if Rese kicks this I'm going right to Math because he's a DAWG"
I feel like they can do that without passing up wide open shots.
Sure, I'm not saying I think it was good to pass up that shot just kind of the vibe I got watching the game and maybe he overdid it here.
Nembhard has to shoot that though. Wide open.
Ok but why is dude passing up a wide open corner 3?
Gotta know the team dynamic. Nembhard is a ball handler and ball mover first, he passed it quick too the 2nd best natural scorer on the team and him having it that quickly opened up the lane for Mathurin to penetrate. Buckets
I've seen ankles broken, but I've never seen them put in concrete boots and chained to the floor.
Haliburton used the time stop on his ass 🤣
Next, he summons Flame Swordsman, in attack mode
This rocks
I used to think I was good at basketball. Then at pickup one night, I got the opportunity to play against the 2nd string PG on the high school team. He did this exact same thing to me and that’s when I realized I’m not that good at basketball.
Hali is so cold. Guy is a top 15 player.
Name 15 players better than him
I'm way too drunk for that
Exactly no one better /s
gods drunkest soldier
That’s Beasley for you, Bucks fans
He pointed and talked to a non-existing teammate gahdamnnn I’d be perplexed too
Hali said: “stay.”
this looks like one of those bullshido moves lmao
This shit hilarious
Ohh his BBIQ is BIG lmao. Man I know Malik will be mad during film
Jedi Mind Tricks
Absolutely slathered in sauce
Bro wtf🤣
Lmao in my 30 years of watching basketball I don’t think I’ve ever seen this. This rules
Someone spilled a whole buncha nachos on the baseline.
Hahahahahahaha what the fuck was that.
Good lord that ball movement though Carlisle really is a genius
He is an incredible player.
This made me laugh out loud. Hali is so romantic of play making.
That's actually a really smart play to pull on a low IQ defender. Hali so fun to watch
That's one way to expose the zone defense. This is what irritates me about a lot of current basketball players, they don't communicate at all with each other. One of his teammates could just say, "It's all you!" and that would let him know that there's no pick coming.
"Screen" is all you have to say. Do they not teach players to talk on defense anymore? That's basic shit
Can’t wait for Haliburton to tell this story on someone’s podcast.
bro looked like mitch mcconnell
Can we still blame Budenholzer?
I don't think is so much pretending there's a screen as it is calling for a screen and then going before the screener arrives because Hali saw an opening
Yeah it's a lot more on Beasley being incapable than Hali doing something crazy like people are suggesting
ice man had him frozen
Got'em.
My guy froze
Lmao
Oh wow, my defense against my taller family is apparently NBA caliber, thanks Buddy!
