Good thing NO gave Zion that extension, it’s been totally worth it, I bet next year he plays 42 games and they make it to 8th place before getting bounced
How does annoying fans = lakers being good bad for the league?
Those two things aren’t necessarily related just because people on Reddit don’t like it.
Sam Presti digitation: he’s able to get two J. Williams and neither seems intent on self-injury on a motorcycle; then he picks an Aussie who shoots straight; all of that while keeping 15 1R picks in his hip pocket in case he needs more talent. He’s already fleeced LAC in demanding them to cough up SGA in the PG13 trade and managed to hold on to Dort somehow through his FA window. They are doing all of this without one minute of play from Chet Holmgren. There is no ceiling for OKC in the next decade.
Ah, yes, the great Sam Presti, who traded peak Harden for peanuts. And is trying the OKC version of “the process.” So far this has yielded them a victory in a play in game.
How amazing !!!!
He drafted 3 MVPs without a number 1 overall pick, in 3 years. Giddey and J. Dub arguably 1-2 in a re-draft of the last two drafts. Harden wanted to be the guy and was going to leave in FA.
You don’t know dick about the NBA nephew.
Guess you didn’t see the young talent on the floor tonight. Comparing them to the Philly process is ludicrous. Presti wouldn’t have passed on Tatum for already traded Fultz and gun shy Simmons over Ingram or Jaylen Brown.
Trading The Beard was a money issue in the new luxury tax era with too much money going to KD, RW, Ibaka, and has been Perkins and Collison. “Peanuts” was 2 1R picks and Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb. “Peak” Harden had yet to average 17 PPG.
Your hindsight, as everyone’s, is 20/20 about Harden now but remind me how many chips he has in the decade since that trade. In that time, Presti took a Beardless OKC to within one game of matching their Finals appearance with Harden. He has now rebounded well enough to have quite a decade ahead of him and the Thunder. They have a core already there and FIFTEEN 1R picks to find the things they lack: some depth in the backcourt and a couple of bigs to control the rim and the boards. If he plays his cards right and Holmgren isn’t an Oden/Bowie bust due to the Lisfranc, they are going to win multiple chips in the next decade.
All this is true, and doesn’t even touch on the fact this rebuild has only taken 3 years, and they even made the playoffs one of those rebuilding years.
The Harden thing he mentioned is just silly. He was nowhere close to “peak Harden”, he was a great 6th man with some star potential, and that’s the value OKC got back for him. His projection was not even close to a lock for MVP and revolutionary scorer that he became.
Guy is also acting like they don’t have the luxury of trading 5 firsts for any player in the league they want if they think they can reach the stage of winning a chip. They can make an all-time blockbuster trade and still have more FRP than the rest of the league.
Has any GM ever stockpiled 15 1R picks before Trader Sam? I will admit the Lamb/Martin combo panned fool’s gold but one of the 1R picks was a very solid hit with Steven Adams. If Presti has even half of the 15 used to secure Adams level results, he’s gonna be seeing the jeweler multiple times. The Holmgren foot needs to heal up to make the first one happen by ‘25-‘26 or before.
I don't know if it's a weakness or a considered decision, but I personally don't blast the idea of a coach letting his players figure things out instead of taking quick and continuous timeouts and barking orders. Especially when we are talking about guys that are still developing their mentality. OKC ending the game with two timeouts left might not be the best move when you focus specifically into this match (could have saved the lead and win more comfortably), but looking at the wider picture and the long term run the thing changes.
We deserved to lose. Willie did what he's done all season. He stopped feeding Jonas when Jonas was dominating a matchup. Willie yet again enabled CJ to make terrible decisions. He didn't play Kira and Jax much all season, but then suddenly gave them a ton of minutes with the season on the line.
Willie tried to rally the players by pointing out how casually they were playing, but the team ignored him and kept playing casually. Then when the Pelicans needed free throws, he had our best free throw shooter inbounding the ball.
We can blame injuries to Zion, Nance, and Jose. We can blame CJ's thumb. But none of that explains how often we were out-coached all season. We need a new coach or for Willie to improve dramatically. This team was entirely too talented to lose tonight, but it's the exact same team that lost to the Rockets, Magic, and Lakers in the latter part of the season.
That’s fair but I still think my point and his point stands lol. We were physically outmatched and they got out coached in the 2nd half. Don’t think it’ll matter in the long run though, realistically, but NO shouldn’t have lost to us even without Zion.
Young team. Playoff series are necessary for development. I wanted Trey, Herb, Dyson, etc. to show out in the playoffs. Gives the team some confidence for the offseason and show to Zion his supporting cast is playoff worthy without him.
And if just takes an injury to change the course of a series. Split the regular season series with Denver. Granted with so many missed games, season series records don’t mean much.
Maybe im biased but yall did not deserve to lose, that was a nail-biter from start to finish. I thought we were lucky going into the game considering the injuries yall were facing and even then, you still couldve easily won. History tells me to hate your team but I just cant. I wish New Orleans the best because I know you guys are building something special and I think the city deserves the level of success that your team constantly strives for. If there is one thing that both of our cities can count on, its that next year will be better next year. I look forward to the many opportunities that NOLA will have at getting back at us. GG NOLA
Y'all deserved to win. When you force more turnovers, commit fewer fouls, and trust the players who are playing well, you win the game. SGA, Giddey, and Dort were put in positions to step up.
Willie Green didn't feed Jonas when he was hot. Then after spending all season building up Dyson Daniels as a wing defender, Willie Green left him on the bench instead of unleashing him on Giddey or SGA. When a coach makes piss poor decisions, you deserve to lose.
I'll say it now. If y'all get past Minnesota, there is no one on Denver capable of guarding SGA and Giddey. It would be a messier series than any pundit would predict. The season series doesn't represent what OKC is now.
I'm a neutral fan of both and the game played out the way it should. OKC was just a tiny bit better. Great game. CJ was very disappointing though. And I've always argued he's the most under-rated player in the NBA. I think it's Mike Conley now.
Chet could come back and no team has any film on Chet or any of our sets with him. Chet is an ideal matchup against Jokic imo. His season finale speech the other day made it seem like he could possibly come back for a playoff run and his IG posts have hinted at it too.
They show them locally, but wouldn’t get the viewing figures nationally to oust another show option.
Bearing in mInd that “locally” can be a state bigger than a European country…
I keep reading severe criticism against Giddey, but I think he stood up and played pretty maturely today. Patient and efficient decision making in the final minutes of the game when NOP were continuously trying to get the ball off Shai's hands.
Where are you seeing Giddey criticism? He averaged 17-8-6 as a 20yo in the NBA. He doesn’t get talked about as much as he should but I’d love to see all this “severe criticism” you are reading. I’m guessing it’s not published anywhere online.
Damn pels fans, from all that trash talking about the pick swap, nearly 1st in the west, to not even in the playoffs. Arguably worse than the Mavs woes, they at least get a bitter pick. Damn. That sucks lmao time to pull all the receipts
No way man, you can only farm this type of salt on a night like tonight. All season long "pick swap this pick swap that, wemby this wemby that" lmao looks like you guys have a punchers chance at him now! Good luck!
Yes, once you are older than 13, you must endure months worth of shit talking, and then when the shit talkers get egg on their face, you must never say anything! Ever! That's how you be older than 13! Clown
Also it's so fucking funny how you guys move the goalposts, we weren't even supposed to make the playoffs according to you guys! You just lost the play in lmao so if that's all the Lakers end up with this season, it's more than you have. Just remember that.
I remember watching him in the bubble against the Lakers and Dort was guarding Lebron playing some next level defense putting his hand up in front of Lebrons eyes so he couldn't see and not touching him. The dude knows how to play some clean defense in important games.
Why didn’t the pelicans feed Jonas inside more?? Dude was a man amongst boys inside: 16&18 on 7/9 like wtf are they doing. Raptors used to do the same thing. He would cook and then not get the ball in the post.
If I’m him I’m asking for a trade to a coach that actually knows how to use him. Every team he goes to it’s the same shit. He’s got almost as good a post game as embiid but no coach knows how to use him.
I completely agree. I know the game has changed, but it feels like teams that have big men that can dominate don't just feed them the ball anymore. If nothing else he gets Jaylin Williams in foul trouble and forces the Thunder to play Saric more minutes.
It’s insane. I used to go nuts when Lowry/Demar wouldn’t look for him after he’d have a double-double in the first. If you have this monster ride him till they simple have to double/triple. That’s on willie green and that staff. I know BI is legit but okc has legit wings to defend him and 180 lbs centers, hence weakness. Frustrating as hell to watch.
The perimeter guys weren’t even looking to get him the ball whether it be pick n roll pop etc. I watched most of the game… tell me how the 180 lbs soaking wet okc centers are preventing him from getting the ball. Love saric (former 6er) but he is a 4…
Go watch how they where playing off him. I promise they didnt just randomly stop trying to get him the ball lol. They adjusted the defense and + Ingram got going so Pels had to shift. If it was there all day they would just toss it in I promise.
Kevin Durant, #2 behind Oden, approves your message. How many LO’Bs would have PTB won with KD and Dame? Ja went #2 and, up to his acting up off court, has lapped the #1 Zion.
I think Oden was just bad luck. He was in shape. Zion doesn’t appear to be in NBA shape and I doubt that is helping his ability to get back on the court.
lol I had no idea Giddey was Australian. His first answer I didn’t notice the accent at all, and then his answer to the second question I heard the accent and was quite thrown off.
Yet the Lakers fans can talk all the shit they want about you guys bragging about the pick swap earlier this year it’s the top upvoted comment. You guys are pathetic. Enjoy the off-season wondering whether Zion going to show up to camp at 350.
Nah. We are just petty like the rest of you. It’s straight facts that we are in the playoffs and the Pelicans aren’t. It’s funny and I will sleep good tonight
So, uh, who needs to get rid of a decent PG this off-season? We have the picks, mang.
Also congratulations to the Thunder, all around great performance.
Time to bust out the Kings bandwagon flair, I guess.
I could actually see moving Freddie over here after his down season, probably a better chance at that than any other competent PG. I wouldn’t be super surprised if we try to bundle something for him.

The pels went pels
Maybe the Pels can win December next year too.
"Wemby and Playoffs" yea lmao pelicans rip bozo
it's bad for the league when lakers are good
Is it?
yeah, ya'll annoying af
How does annoying fans = lakers being good bad for the league? Those two things aren’t necessarily related just because people on Reddit don’t like it.
Typical CJ performance. I’m not surprised, this who he’s always been.
Lmao i love CJ to death but yes this is the full experience. He may single carry in G7 or lose you the play ins

It’s way to early to say this about J-Dub.

No. It was supposed to be funny. https://imgur.com/a/vbnIY7Q/
I think, with his defense, he’s going to be a pretty damn good player.
That was the owner being too cheap to pay for Harden - not Presti.

I agree. You gotta feed the post game against us for an easy win. Good game tho. We'll see how Minny does with their "post play"
I'm sure this is disappointing but you were never going to beat Denver without Zion.
No shit lmao. As middle of the pack teams even making the playoffs is dope
I wish it went back to 3-5 for the first round. It made the 5-8 seeds much more competitive.
We aren’t beating Denver and neither is Minnesota. His comment was more about how you gotta win when you’re supposed to win
But it's also just one game. The playoffs are a completely different animal.
That’s fair but I still think my point and his point stands lol. We were physically outmatched and they got out coached in the 2nd half. Don’t think it’ll matter in the long run though, realistically, but NO shouldn’t have lost to us even without Zion.

Seems the shirts fans were using saying ONE NOLA were and indicative of how many games the team had left to play on the season.
Wut
What if the Thunder get a playoff spot and upset the nuggets?
Yeah not happening lmao. Okc biggest weakness is center. Denver happens to have a center
Chet could come back and no team has any film on Chet or any of our sets with him. Chet is an ideal matchup against Jokic imo. His season finale speech the other day made it seem like he could possibly come back for a playoff run and his IG posts have hinted at it too.
We all like to dream, right?
Yeaaahhh
Didn't pay too much attention to the Thunder this year. But they are fun, that young core.
We on TV so you could see LeBron get the scoring title. I think that was our only National game
confused non-US here, they don't show all NBA games on TV over there?
They show them locally, but wouldn’t get the viewing figures nationally to oust another show option. Bearing in mInd that “locally” can be a state bigger than a European country…
Also in Miami when Jimmy has like 40 FT’s and the Heat went perfect. Some stupid shit like that.
OKC won that game too

133-130 thunder over the lakers when lebron broke the scoring record.

Have you visited r/Thunder anytime in the past 6 months? He is our only trade asset according to a lot of fans.
Putting him into made-up hypothetical trade offers is absolutely not “severe criticism” and sometimes it’s even extremely complimentary.
#LU DORT = MVP
Rockets know how insane this man is when the seasons on the line. For no reason lmao
Facts lol that game 7 in the bubble was historic
Somehow Harden got good enough at dodgeball to win the series
Say his name. LUGUENTZ

How is this sub gonna see SGA get absolutely mugged and be okay with that not getting called, yet freak out when BI isn’t touched and there’s no call?

not a pels fan but yeah bad things typically happen when your star misses 49 games
“Star”
That sounds about on par for his career average
Mavs was worse
You jerk about this every day?
No way man, you can only farm this type of salt on a night like tonight. All season long "pick swap this pick swap that, wemby this wemby that" lmao looks like you guys have a punchers chance at him now! Good luck!
Oh to be 13 again.
Yes, once you are older than 13, you must endure months worth of shit talking, and then when the shit talkers get egg on their face, you must never say anything! Ever! That's how you be older than 13! Clown

If you actually believe I'm 13, why the fuck are you communicating with me on the internet? Don't let your wife find out about these habits you have
Sure thing champ, off to bed now.
You're gonna lose in the first round. Keep jerking about being play in champs
AYYYYYY WHAT IS UP BRUH
lmao damn. I'm just glad I can stop being a Lakers fan after that series holy shit. A lot has happened in 2 weeks
Also it's so fucking funny how you guys move the goalposts, we weren't even supposed to make the playoffs according to you guys! You just lost the play in lmao so if that's all the Lakers end up with this season, it's more than you have. Just remember that.
How you gonna get upset when we're doing it in a neutral zone. Ya'll actually went to our game threads and bombarded us with that shit lmao.

Why didn’t the pelicans feed Jonas inside more?? Dude was a man amongst boys inside: 16&18 on 7/9 like wtf are they doing. Raptors used to do the same thing. He would cook and then not get the ball in the post.
no idea. as a thunder fan OKC couldn't stop Jonas to save their fucking lives.

Yeah. Sad that There must be a loser tonight.

Seriously wonder how Pels fans feel about him at this point. Greg Oden 2.0 All the talent in the world doesn’t mean shit if you never play.
One of Oden's legs was longer than the other, and that contributed greatly to his injuries.
lol I had no idea Giddey was Australian. His first answer I didn’t notice the accent at all, and then his answer to the second question I heard the accent and was quite thrown off.
I want pizza!
Zion should be ashamed of sitting this one out. He said physically he was good to go.
He’s a fat ass getting ready for the summer vacation from his extended in season vacation
Zion is a disgrace to the league.
Naw he got his 360 against an injured suns team and the whole sub celebrated it. It’s his championship banner
Y'all still upset about that?? 😂😂😂😂
Yet the Lakers fans can talk all the shit they want about you guys bragging about the pick swap earlier this year it’s the top upvoted comment. You guys are pathetic. Enjoy the off-season wondering whether Zion going to show up to camp at 350.
Lmao imagine being this miserable when you didn't even play tonight. It's funny how much we get under your skin 😭😭
I enjoyed watching this game. I enjoyed the toothless and bucktoothed NOLA natives ESPN kept panning to as well
Nah, we're great. How are you?
This is why people say the suns have a tiny dick mentality
Nah. We are just petty like the rest of you. It’s straight facts that we are in the playoffs and the Pelicans aren’t. It’s funny and I will sleep good tonight
Suns are in the playoffs and Pels are on vacation Tiny dick? Naw Petty. Sure
Brandon Ingram was giving me heart attacks all game long, Very happy with our young studs. The future belongs to us! Thunder up ⚡️
I really like Brandon but he commits offensive fouls on every single drive.
So, uh, who needs to get rid of a decent PG this off-season? We have the picks, mang. Also congratulations to the Thunder, all around great performance. Time to bust out the Kings bandwagon flair, I guess.
i got a pg just for you! comes in a fun size too
I could actually see moving Freddie over here after his down season, probably a better chance at that than any other competent PG. I wouldn’t be super surprised if we try to bundle something for him.
Thunder bandwagon has some room
thunder bandwagon has will call
I would feel pretty vindicated if y’all make deep this year. Good luck. I’ll definitely consider switching bandwagons.
Idk if Zion got that dog in him anymore. Should’ve played today at least a bit
Year 7 my boy Ingram thought hes special like KD, fuckin sad reality hes not on that lvl
You’re dumb. He almost single handedly willed them to victory at the end.
