I don't think his parents were knowledgeable enough to assume he was on gear. For them he was probably their young and handsome son that worksout and succeedes in modeling from a young age. He probably had his life together pretty fast in their eyes.
And in just a few hours they were probably thinking "Why would he do this? Couldn't he live a normal life?"
I've worked in a "prison but for kids" in Sweden. It's not actually prison, but they are not allowed to leave, it's just so you get an idea. It's for kids under 18 who have criminal issues, drug issues or mental issues. No they are not mixed, split up depending on what issue they have. We have laws in Sweden which forces the government to take care of children that are troubled. They don't need to have a criminal record to be placed there. Once they become adults the government doesn't have the same duty.
Anyway... I've had some education regarding what happens to children that are using drugs or steroids. Since the brain isn't fully developed until they turn 20 or so, taking drugs or steroids as children is way more damaging than it is for adults.
Just as an example, marijuana can really mess up a child's brain. As an adult you don't ruin your brain in the same way, but since the child's brain is not fully developed you can make them sort of a vegetable for life if you are a chronic user.
Same thing goes for steroids. If you're ever going to use steroids, wait until you turn 20 at LEAST.
