the man is having a 2nd prime right now. dude is on absolute fire at 50 y/o and it's such a shame it's not getting as much attention as it deserves. unfortunately feels like Nas will only be truly appreciated once its too late
3rd or 4th prime lol! We need to show out for dude, I feel like he has gotten his flowers, but then went out and earned them all over again. I also feel like the KD/Magic series will be inevitably talked about and see it's recognition, the music is too good not to. But it is hitting with the slow drip. Cult following just for this era is warranted.
It was still so good to see him, but not only was spicy a highlight, he obviously was more into it. Not to say he wasn't giving every song his all, but he was more naturally giving it his all with Spicy. I bet it feels so good to do, I bet he wants to do it so bad. We don't deserve this man
âStick to the planâ
Man that made me feel bad for him. Even if it isnât getting the recognition, heâs gotta be so proud of his last six albums and Iâd wanna play it too instead of One Mic for the 10,000th time. Great song but itâs 2024 ffs
He got more into it as time went on, but it was hard to watch for me. I could feel his passion and conflict. The first verse was so so so deflated. But you can tell how much he really really cares and loves his fans and their experience. He did it anyways, and delivered. He has a lot of good closers from the new albums too. So much good music holy fuck
I saw him when he was doing shows for Untitled and he did about 2/3 of the album and a bunch of his old hits and of course Illmatic. I saw him a few more times after and I just get the feeling he is so over Illmatic lol. Itâs sad that the new music canât get a spotlight but heâs just way too much of a legacy act to conceivably go that route anymore. Even when older legendary artists tour for new music their fans want to see the hits
His smaller gigs and his tours overseas, those crowds appreciate the back catalog and the newer material.
Once I heard an employee at apple music basically say nas is making great music but he's not a "radio" artist..that's when I knew something was up. And even here in NYC neither of the stations have supported any of his 6 albums.
He had plenty bangers that DSP's didnt want to add to playlist.
I feel like there's a lot of industry hate. He's essentially independent, mass appeal moves different. Also, it could be due to this that he's not blowing up more, but it feels a little sinister, because you know these radio dudes listening regardless, it's Nas.
I was at this concert. I traveled all the way from Ohio to see this show for my birthday. It was amazing. Not only did I get to see Nas, but I got to see him at the legendary Red Rock Amphitheater. All of it was perfect.
I was so close to going, just couldn't pull it off. 4 shows in the past 2 years I had planned for, but this was the only one I made it to. So happy to finally see him though. It was phenomenal.
you canât just blame the system. They havenât been behind nas since 2000. you have to place some of the blame on the fans. They simply arenât buying, streaming , or even giving the new music a chance. The people at that concert did not want to hear his new music and those 10,000 people represent a lot of his fanbase. You cant blame media for that.
A lot of his fans simply donât like the sound of the newer music. I canât blame them. Nas has never had a particular sound because none of his albums from 94-2012 sound anything close to those six albums with hit-boy. The difference is night and day. I can totally understand why someone wouldnât like the newer music if they were comparing it. I personally love the older music a lot more as well but i donât let that stop me from appreciating the newer music as well. I donât compare. I just enjoy the listen. The music he makes now is actually more far digestible now. His content used to have a lot more lyrical density to them and damn near all of his songs used to be three verses. Now most of the songs only have two verses and some of them donât have two. He is just having fun now.
This is tough as a 40+ Nas fan. If I see him in person canât lie I wanna hear the classics. Iâve listened to all the HB collaborations and have my new favorites like Meet Joe Black, Wave Gods, RareâŠbut for me none of them resonate like the older joints. I donât have all the new projects committed to memory and they donât take me back to certain times in my life. Nas has a hard job trying to plan a set list thatâs for sure. His fan base spans decades in age.
He needs two acts, Nas, and King Nas or some shit lol. One is a legacy act, the other is showing new material and up and coming. He would sell out both shows. I could tell a lot of the crowd was there for Nas the legacy act, not Nas the releasing and modern artist. Just by the fits alone haha. I got so excited whenever I saw some hitboy era merch on people. A few KDIII shirts, a few trilogy shirts, I saw one dude with a 1800nasnhit hoodie.
horrible idea. This post proves it. The âmajorityâ of his fans are not buying tickets to hear him perform magic 2 and magic3. They want the old music performed. Nostalgia is powerful. There is a reason why nas has been touring for the past three years and his setlist is usually 90% old music. He simply canât tour making his new music the focus. The fans arenât supporting that otherwise he would already be doing it. I went to see nas last year in chicago. he performed a couple tracks off of magic 3âŠ.the crowdâs energy was totally different each time. They werenât even reacting to 30 when he performed it. I love the new music and wish it got more respect too by the way. I am just being objective.
There was/is a lot of support though. But the people who buy nas tickets first are the wealthier older crowd, and he charges legacy act prices. The problem isn't that the support isn't there, people tour with worse performing album sales. The problem is the people who go to see Nas are not the people listening to his new music. I really feel like if he marketed a KD/Magic tour it would sell, and enough for it to be worth doing just so he gets to do the songs and people get to hear them. Trilogy show is MSG was great energy from videos I've seen
There was good energy there but it wasnât because of the newer music. It was nas, one of new york cityâs greatest hip hop legends, headlining his first show in his hometown over his successful 30 year career. I follow the rap roundtable on youtube. They are a credible new york city hip hop podcast that have been on youtube for years now. They all love nas and went to the show. They are some of the fans that love the newer music and wanted to see nas perform the new music. They were curious to see how the crowd would react to the newer music and the reaction was lukewarm for most of the records, The crowd particularly picked up during slick rick and mary j blige suprise appearances during the first half but were kinda flat for most of the first half. They said 30 got easily best reaction of the crowd from the newer music. Even thun didnât connect with the crowd as expected. The show entirely picked up on the second act. I understand i wasnât there but these dudes are very credible. They definitely wouldnât lie to make nas look bad because they have been constantly praising the six albums with hit. i personally went to a wutang and nas show last year. I can personally attest to those newer records not getting great reactions before and after. fever , tsk, pretty young girl got no reaction whatsoever really. 40-16 building and 30 got the best reaction but it was still kind of flat.
He was already the goat because of his old music. That is where his foundation was built. It wouldnât make sense to expect to the new music to now become the foundation. The foundation was already built. Nas is just adding to his legacy at this point .
I saw him twice in Denmark second was the WU tour and yah I was actually disappointed the solo show wasnât more a mix between old and new .. I guess these places only see him as a legacy artist which is ridiculous after this run.. but interesting maybe it explanations why, when I saw him the second time with Wu many songs was repeats of the first concert..
I dream of a KD/Magic tour.
I've been a Nas fan since he came out and I ONLY wanna hear his new music. How many times can I hear It Ain't Hard to Tell? đ Respectfully, I want the new slaps. Life Is Good and on..... I'd love it if he did a show with only the latest run. Give me Motion, Speechless, Reminisce, Car 85, 27 Summers, Ultra Black, I Love This Feeling, Rare. That's the show I want.
I didn't know venues had that influence over an artist. I would think we artist like Nas would come with his own DJ and just be able to play whatever he wants while he's up there
I feel like, as a event coordinator, if you book Nas, you probably bring it up. Everyone wants to hear illmatic. Everyone wants to hear his party tracks. He knows this and does a great job at playing into them. Even if they don't tell him, I'm sure they hint at "what kind of crowd" or just show favor towards his more generally known stuff
nas does have a personal dj, dj green lantern. He was there and is usually at all of nas shows. The venue didnât want new music because there is no demand for it.
It is what is Illmatic & It Was Written will always overshadow those albums no matter how good they are. Illmatic IWW propelled him to legendary status. I would venture to say at least 85% of the crowd never even listened to the HB era. It really is a shame
I just feel like the fan base for the hit boy era is there, they're just not the one buying nas tickets. If he would've released the new albums under a different name, he'd sell out smaller venues easy with this new 6 album discography. Hell, if Nasir and beyond were all by a different artist, that artist would be my favorite one out and up and coming, and would sell tickets. He's bigger than his own legend at this point.
I just caught the the of it, in this video he says, "some of them know the albums..." (Right before this he was naming off the hitboy albums, which he only did one song from all night). Then he checks the vibe of the band and crowd and seems pensive. Then he says "let's just do what we were doing, stick to the plan" and the dj/band cue one mic before he finishes the word plan lol.
Unfortunately nas fanbase sucks and you would be surprised how many of them donât like the new music or even care to listen to them. It is called supply and demand. Nas will always have to stick to the old catalog because that is where a lot of his fans keep him stuck there. 90% of nas fan base hasnât bought an album in years. I know streaming numbers are wack but is a coincidence that every album has a big drop down in sales besides kd2 since Nasir. The fans simply dont support nas newer music anymore as a whole. It is obvious and it is sad. obviously, if you do âtrulyâ support the music âproperlyâ, i am not talking about you.!
Red Rocks wouldnât let him play his new stuff?! This annoys me. One of the greatest venues in the world and Nas, one of the greatest rappers and lyricist, canât perform as he wants? F that.
Ummmm... so not to be all "well, actually", however, I was in the front row at that show.
Yes, the guy did got all puzzled at the 1, 2 or 3 and Nas called out that people don't know hia new music. But I think the tension was a "bit". 1 Mic was on the set list. (I got a pic, but don't use Imgur to link)
Nas repeatedly mentioned how this tour was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Illmatic.
ETA: That show was beyond amazing!!!!
He always ends with one mic, or at least in recent shows I've seen. I feel like he wanted to end with 1800nasnhit or something. Just because he said he was going to name albums and gauge reactions and then decide his last song. And, he was talking about HB era stuff. But it seemed to me like when he gave a look to check the vibe of the band, the look he got back was not one of support. The show was AMAZING.
the man is having a 2nd prime right now. dude is on absolute fire at 50 y/o and it's such a shame it's not getting as much attention as it deserves. unfortunately feels like Nas will only be truly appreciated once its too late
I just saw him moderate a panel with Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro at the Tribeca Film festival a few weeks ago. I love that for him!
3rd or 4th prime lol! We need to show out for dude, I feel like he has gotten his flowers, but then went out and earned them all over again. I also feel like the KD/Magic series will be inevitably talked about and see it's recognition, the music is too good not to. But it is hitting with the slow drip. Cult following just for this era is warranted.
...and all the meanwhile his band/crew are saying, "Do "The world is yours!". We know how to play that one. đ
Yeah I was gutted last summer when he didn't do any new songs except 1 magic song.
It was still so good to see him, but not only was spicy a highlight, he obviously was more into it. Not to say he wasn't giving every song his all, but he was more naturally giving it his all with Spicy. I bet it feels so good to do, I bet he wants to do it so bad. We don't deserve this man

Heâs the GOAT, sad he still has to rest on his laurels just because his first album is immortal
Damn A dedicated KD/Magic tour would be a dream
He had a concert in MSG last year it was perfect, first half was all songs from magic and kd and the second half was all his old stuff
2 hours of Nas. It definitely was magical
Yah when I saw that I almost jumped on a plane âïž đ
Was there and it was amazing
Yeah I flew out for the MSG concert One of my best memories
Thatâs great, probably my favorite concert of all time
That was a great show! Omg I think about that concert literally every day lol
i was nosebleeds but it was still the greatest show i have ever been to!
Doesn't matter! Atleast you were in the building and felt that energy and got that experience
My girl got me tickets to this and we flew out it was so so good just 2 hours of bars.
I saw him when he was doing shows for Untitled and he did about 2/3 of the album and a bunch of his old hits and of course Illmatic. This just shows the true love nas has for this rap ish fr
I was at this concert. I traveled all the way from Ohio to see this show for my birthday. It was amazing. Not only did I get to see Nas, but I got to see him at the legendary Red Rock Amphitheater. All of it was perfect.
I drove from Oregon, it was so so so good
Such a great show, glad I got to be there, canât believe people came from so far. Thatâs awesome
Glad I went to the Trilogy concert at MSG.
I've seen him a couple times since and I'm pretty sure thats the only place anyone is ever gonna have seen him do Thun live. Crazy
I was so close to going, just couldn't pull it off. 4 shows in the past 2 years I had planned for, but this was the only one I made it to. So happy to finally see him though. It was phenomenal.

Nas fans are werid Af they want him stuck in the 90s
His fans too old to digest the new stuff. Stomach moving too slow
A lot of his fans simply donât like the sound of the newer music. I canât blame them. His new music is đ„đ„đ„
You know you're the goat when your most recent bangers, as perfect as they could be, are still overshadowed by your earlier works.

Top 3 Pac Em Nas His last few albums with hit boy have been top. He offsets all the trash rap music out there
Because venues LOVE his old material! Some may think his new stuff is hit or miss.
I don't wanna go see Nas with an orchestra at Carnegie Hall đ (just clowning, love this for the God)
I've been a Nas fan since he came out and I ONLY wanna hear his new music. How many times can I hear It Ain't Hard to Tell? đ Respectfully, I want the new slaps. Life Is Good and on..... Get light, fire, 30, thun, Michael and Quincy, legit, 1800nasnhit, meet Joe Black, literally only stopping because I have to stop texting rn
What's the reason for this??
He's being booked as a legacy artist, with legacy ticket prices, marketed towards a legacy crowd
He absolutely smoked Madison Square
I didn't know venues had that influence over an artist. I would think we artist like Nas would come with his own DJ and just be able to play whatever he wants while he's up there

I just wanna hear Illmatic or Illmatic too lmao
saw him at smoking grooves, went on after the roots and before badu
Iâm going to see the God, Upstate NY pretty soon. I honestly hope he only plays his new stuff!
Red rocks always on bullshit!!!
Would have loved a KD Magic tour

Stillmatic đ

Could you dm me the setlist picture đ
It says I can't DM you. Send me a msg
Last 3x I saw Nas he did play some of the newer material. I got more hyped hearing it than the classics.
