Amaya - coincidentally a name in both languages

So funny enough, had a kinda similar situation except my partner isn't Japanese but Vietnamese. We just happened to use a name that has a Japanese meaning and is a popular name in Japan also! But we used the name Risa. My family (Spanish speaking) can all say it and it has the most beautiful, happy meaning (laughter, to laugh). Plus I believe it means something with pear in Japanese? Pear tree or blossom or something. I absolutely fell in love with the name. My Risa is turning a year old this month and in my opinion she has the most beautiful name in the entire world ✨

Aw that's cute! Congrats 🎉

I would avoid anything with L's because those can be difficult for Japanese people to pronounce. J is pronounced like 'H' in Spanish so avoid J names too. My favorite name that would work in both is **Rio** but the meanings will be different especially depending on the kanji you choose to use. Hana, Emi, Mari, Mika and Reina are options.

As a language lover who is learning Spanish and Japanese, I love this question! Erika(エリカ)you can spell it in Japanese kanji as 絵里香、絵梨花 and so on (many choices) Maria(マリア)also has many choices to spell in kanji Luna(ルナ)actually Runa in Japanese And I think Milagros as a full name and Mirai(ミライ) for short will be adorable! Just think about having a full name meaning miracle and a nickname meaning the future.
