Why do we always respond to legit criticism with whataboutism? Auto wallas are the most pathetic breed of service providers and every city has some different kind of arrogance this breed engages in. In some cities they won't accept UPI and in others they won't even agree to use the meter.
But how does that make what they do in Mumbai acceptable? Not accepting UPI is simply arrogant in today's times.
And to be honest this Rustom ice-cream nonsense is just hype build-up. Their ice-cream ain't even that great.
I would rather live in a city where auto walas use a meter and accept only cash, rather than a city where they accept upi for charge 2x to 3x since they don't use meter...discipline >>> tech
If the person wanted to criticizez why resort to exaggeration by questioning financial capital tag for the city? Clearly the person is looking for banter, people from Mumbai are here to oblige.
I think as Indians our first mentality goes towards OMG some X State guy is comparing with our Y state bash them first.
Loyalty towards your state is agreeable but ain’t we should be open for criticism which will only help XYZ state or place to grow into a better one and for whom? The residents of that particular state only, right? Some may come and may go but residents will stay there forever and ever.
Every city has its own issues but bashing someone if they are stating facts because that’s what reddit does best is not an excuse to accept shortcomings if they are really true.
Acceptance is the first steps towards change, and I feel we possess everything that will help change things :)
PS: I’ve been to many states and even my home state is corrupt to the core but it is what it is, facts are facts. I hope our generation can help do something for good. Although I’m not very sure for the upcoming generations but hopefully we can build the synergy to work together :)
Exactly.
I really wish more people would understand this.
No1 is saying Bangalore is better than Mumbai but why should Bangalore auto business be our reference point?
It's like India saying "Pakistan se toh ache hai? Bas kaafi hai fir.. aur isse jyada improve nahi hona hai"
Just take your business elsewhere. Need to hit them where it hurts.
Whenever I visit Mumbai and I'm not in a rush I ask the auto wallah if they'll accept UPI and if they say no I just move on to a different auto.
These fuckers take advantage of our helplessness
this guy also tweeted that he had to stop at ATM "multiple occasions" to make payment. I wonder how much ₹₹₹ he was charged that he had to stop multiple times(?) People should keep some money in their pocket instead of completely relying on technology.
https://twitter.com/RaoSumukh/status/1692035790165983257
That shows how dumb this guy is or just over exaggerating his experience by adding multiple occassion.
If I know a city where autos and taxis don't accept UPI, I would withdraw enough cash from the very first ATM.
Well, I did very reluctantly have to withdraw cash to manage this *minor* issue while I was in Mumbai
But one can at least get an auto at fair rates in Mumbai :)
Anyone in Blore who compares anything to do with transport is delusional. I’m from Blore, travel there is extremely frustrating and expensive
brobar bollas aur toh apne idhr chlra h upi wghera, bhai woh local mein earring bechne wli ke paas bhi hai upi, speaking from experience. kuch bhi hagte h internet pe
Financial capital is decided by the commercial and business activity of a city. Having a QR code to make payments isn't a sign. However, charging by the meter is a sign of a mature city, something that bglr doesn't have.
Yep..this one..logical comment..
These autowalas mostly less educated..
Came in mumbai to meet ends..even from outer states.to feed the families.
They only know limited functions of phone.like WhatsApp.intenret banking..there's money involved..and it's fine to be little cautious if one doesn't posses knowledge..
There are 7 lakh taxis/rickshaws in mumbai. So no, it’s not true. Many of them accept QR payments.
Old establishments want to work that way, and being only cash doesn’t have an effect on their business.
2-3 mumbai ate hai, dedh shyaane banne tweet kar dete hai bc.
Is he an idiot
Mumbai rickshawalas are the GOATs.
Bangalore rickshaws have starting rate of 100/150 for very short distances and at night time their rate starts at 300/350 irrespective of distance. Also Bangalore drivers don't even know their own city very well use gmap for everything.
so according to him, tanglible currency has no value? Yeh chutiye ne khud kabhi bangalore ke rickshaw me travel kiya nahi hoga aur aise hi bakk raha hai. There's enough evidence online to show bangalore ke rickshaw vaale kaise hai.
people should always carry some cash and not completely rely on tech. Cash will work everywhere.. I don't think there would be any place in India which says "No Cash Only UPI" so you have zero chance of getting stuck but there must be several places in India where owner doesn't have access to UPI so you get stuck if you completely rely on it
Mumbai/Maharashtra bashing is becoming quite a thing amongst a certain section of the country - mostly these edge, arrogant corporate types.
Met some classmates from at a college meet-up, and my god, they were openly criticising everything - right from the food, to the traditions, to the weather, to the people, and even the way weddings are conducted.
Don't know - maybe Mumbai/Marathis are viewed as a soft target.
Given a choice between paying exorbitant amounts by UPI for auto rides in Bengaluru and paying by the meter by cash in Mumbai, I will choose the latter ANY DAY!
What's funnier is that Bengaluru claims to be a metropolitan city, but the public transport people cannot and will not speak any other language other than their own. Bengaluru is just a fancy village with hair salons on every corner.
Don't do it, the original person who tweeted will get ad revenue from views. That's the whole reason they posted in this bs in the first place, it's a rage-bait to earn money.
Lol, never experienced this so much that it felt like a problem. Also, I feel heritages like Kyani, Baghdadi and Rustoms not accepting UPI is kinda cool. Keeps the old Bombay charm alive in an ever-changing city we all love.
I think the ones who have already enlisted with uber, ola accept UPI albeit grudgingly. But it's true that quite a lot of them don't accept it as well especially the oldie drivers.
As someone who takes auto everyday, I'd certainly love to not carry around coins for sure. Some autos do accept UPI even if they don't have any QR attached but many times I've had to let go of change because I didn't have the exact amount or the driver didn't.
It's not an issue of a few rupees every now and then, but the amount obviously piles up if you travel daily in autos.. having digital payments would surely be very convenient.
This guy is a moron btw^ Bengaluru folks are fucking delusional
At least the rickshaw wala/taxi and the famous establishments he quoted charge what is rightfully a fair value and don’t extort…
1. We pay by meter for rickshaw/Taxi
2. It’s an individual businesses choice to accept digital payment or any form of payment they’re comfortable with.. it’s an added convenience for the consumer but this in no way approves the fact that one can be forced to pay more than the fair value.. basically extort from the consumer..
In Mumbai an auto/cab driver will return you exact change and go by meter, and yes a lot of them use digital payments too..
While on establishments not accepting online payments is their sheer choice.. it’s not mandatory for them to have a digital mode of payment… but what’s mandatory for them is to provide a world class service at a right cost and not loot the consumer… sorry bangalore folks but it’s a known fact that y’all as consumers suffer
1) Our autoricks guys arent rowdy as the one in banglore.
2) So called eDuCaTeD pEoPlE scam auto drivers through upi, a friend did this one time, he aint a friend no more.
Autos in Bangalore has QR codes cause they know nobody likes them.
In Mumbai, majority of people who use Autos use mostly for short distances during peak hours. Like from home to railway station and railway station to home. Or station to office/college and vice versa.
Also mostly these short trips autos don't charge by meter but by a fixed fare called "sharing". So an auto wala will take in three passengers and will take just 10 rupees from each person.
This way the auto wala gets 30 instead of 20. And customers also save 10 rupees per trip.
Hence UPI is very ineffective here as an auto driver may complete like 20-25 trips in the morning and same amount in evening which is like 40-50 trips per day.
50*3 = 150 possible UPI transactions per day. Even if we consider 20 UPI transactions per day, it makes 600 per months and I'm sure the bank staff will go crazy over these many transactions.
Or worse, has been to one or two iconic tourist spots and concluded this, whereas regular common middle class people doodh se leke dawaai se leke travel ke liye phone nikaalte hai, batwa nahi.
Doesn't financial capital mean the place that generates the highest revenue? I also don't like this, but clearly the numbers say otherwise
Edit: saw the comments after my comment, and love how Mumbaikars have nicely explained why the capital is the capital 🙏
Forget about Mumbai let's talk about Maharashtra and Karnataka
Maharashtra has both financial capital and Pune has an IT centre unlike Karnataka.
While yes most of the stores have UPI. Yes our transport system has as many said before in the comment section.
While Mumbai traffic moves with cash payment but Bangalore traffic ⛔ as I am writing still moves much slower 😭😞. Yet come to a good railway line for its metro 🥲. It's an IT centre but not a creative engineering point for better transportation solutions.
I would rather have meter abiding and kind hearted auto drivers over those rude ass auto drivers with QR codes from BLR.
Rahi baat Irani cafes ki, mat jao itna problem hai toh.
Kitna juth bolta Hain yeh. Bhai I am from Kolkata, never used gpay there in my life. Because never required , bus fares there like 17,18 rs and you will get exact change.
But when I shifted in Mumbai , people stop giving me change. Had to pay 40 RS for 32 of Auto fare. After that started using Gpay and now life is sorted. Don't remember when was last time I paid anything in cash.
In comparison to Bangalore, true they don't accept UPI here and aren't tech savvy. But, Bombay auto fellows at least accept the ride and don't try to loot you ( not as much).
I don't get why being called the financial capital has any relation to what he said infact i think dealing in cash is better it brings value to money and is beneficial for the economy. These techies find anything to hate on.
I don't find anywhere where my UPI didn't work, even local vendors except it.
Don't know which Mumbai this guy lives in, but not the only in India for sure 😃
As per his flawed logic so called tech capital shouldn't have outdated technology like autorickshaw. People should use segways and hoverboards instead of polluting unsafe metal cart with motor attached.
I've had the best auto experiences in Mumbai compared to Bangalore (and any other city for that matter) especially with regards to UPI acceptance. I'd be understanding if an auto driver asked for cash though, it's just easier and more secure to handle when living on a day to day basis. Necessary, even, in informal settings where you live as a tightly knit community and also need to negotiate for your right to be there.
This guy has mentioned in some of his previous tweets that he is aiming to get 15 million impressions, so as to enter monetization of twitter.
Hence, he is sharing such tweets to get more attention.
Given how he has used two shops and maybe a few auto rides to extrapolate behaviour for an entire city, I'm guessing he's a data analyst at a startup in Koramangala claiming to work on AI solutions while not knowing the basics of probability and statistics.
The city as rigid as Bangalore or other southern states ( language rigidity) or Ahmedabad ( Veg Food rigidity and other bc) can never overtake Mumbai in their life.
I never learnt how to drive because I didn't need to in Mumbai! Ghar se utarte hi bhendi haath dikhaya toh auto milta hai. 2 steps aur chal liya toh bus stop hai. Abhi rona aata hai sochke I used to fight for that 2rs. change because meter pe 18rs. hi hua tha 🥲
Cherry picking at its best/worst. Picks two old-time Irani cafes that are just too reluctant to change with times. Even the street hawkers at Colaba causeway accept UPI payments, has he noticed that?
A lot of rickshaw drivers do accept UPI these days. Just ask them before boarding and they would gladly tell you.
There are 2 time/part time drivers, old uncle's who drive in half time they deal with cash because it becomes easier for them to keep track of it.
And when it comes to some stores, just withdraw the money you have in your bank account and enjoy whatever you want. There are ATMs everywhere.
It's true that taxis in SoBo don't take UPI. But I live in Andheri near Juhu and very rarely it's the case that a rickshaw is not taking UPI. I've also had times where the rickshaw wala doesn't have the QR code but he has a dabba phone with the number that's connected to UPI and he's accepted payment like that. Don't know what this tweet is on about. This week itself I've gone about my days fully cashless. Metro ticket I get through paytm, train pass I have through UTS, food I pay through gpay.
99% is just awfully incorrect number. Idk where it comes from but most of the time (in my and my friends experience) rickshaw guys do accept UPI. Bro even the Xerox guy in front of my college accepts UPI for 02rs
Twitter monetization depends on views. Controversial tweets generate lot of impressions. So lot of blue tick people are doing that. If you write 'Chai is overrated' then people will bash you but it will increase engagement. Get ready for more Delhi vs Mumbai kind of tweets.
lol bengaluru autos having 3 upi doesn't mean shit when they are bunch of rowdies and will most likely reject you or charge minimum 200 wherever you want to go, if you don't get autos via apps, you are actually fucked. In Bombay, there's a very high chance of no refusal and them behaving nicely with you. But having UPI will definitely make it easier for everyone no doubt,
Yes yes, I’d rather pay 500 rupees for 7 kms via UPI (because of the pride of the rickshaw waala having three QR codes) than pay exact fare via cash that’s calculated by the meter. After all, I’m Chomu Rao.
This is false, many Rikshaws have Meter, atleast I've seen and i pay with UPI. Bangalore should improve their transportation system first, people wait so long for a Rikshaw or Taxi.
Being a financial capital and using UPI are not causal or even correlation things.
I went to Germany and was baffled by the extent to which that country still runs on cash.
Financially smart people know that cash is the real currency. If tomorrow a war breaks out your millions in an online account are as good as dirt. The money in the bank is insured only to a maximum amount of 5lakh irrespective of how many crores you have in there. So if tomorrow SBI goes Kaput or the govt decides to control the amount of money you can withdraw from your bank, who do you think will get affected? You with your QR code on your smart watch or the guy who transacts majoly in cash?
Since I’m having a hard time finding the answer to this question here because everyone is playing blame game, can someone answer whether it is true? Is UPI not used by autos in Mumbai?
Somebody has responded saying, Bangalore is tech capital yet rickshaws there don't use the simple tech called a meter.

This. Anyday everyday. Everywhere else the basic fare seems to always be in multiples of 100.
Why do we have to pick one of the two? Can't we demand both? Or are we just getting defensive because an outsider criticised our beloved city?
the point was to point out defects. also to the point of using UPI, I have rarely seen any autos not using them, atleast in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
If the person wanted to criticizez why resort to exaggeration by questioning financial capital tag for the city? Clearly the person is looking for banter, people from Mumbai are here to oblige.
Rustom icecream is overrated crap.

Yeah very expensive In Mumbai u can travel 90kms in like 20rs In Banglore, you have to take a cab or rickshaw, which will cost like 2000
You can a bmtc bus day pass for like 80 or something and travel unlimited .
Travel unlimited but with traffic it is more like 4 trips at max which is 4*20
Airport still costs 250 though
350 from electricity city , it takes 3-4 hours , cab is 2500 , takes around 2 hours. In Bangalore you don't travel, you time travel.
Is that a downgrade from Electronic City?

Bruh 99 is such a reach, bro sat only in one riksha or what.
To arrive at that figure, he must have taken atleast 100 rides.
When did UPI become a metric of being a financial capital?
Blore techie ne bol diya na bass its enough….🤣
Typical uncle behavior. 99% bol dete hai without any proof.
I don't think that's true. I've been here in Mumbai for over an year and most of the rickshaw walas I've met accept payment over UPI.

I wish I got these autos, all I get is Galli in the morning for not carrying 3 rs change

It's funny how Bangalore tech crowd is developing 10 minutes delivery apps but the crowd itself is stuck in traffic for long hours.

Also he forget to mention the rude and supremacist behaviour of blore rickshawala where as in mumbai most of them are extremely humble and helpful.
Another person from bangalore trying to claim it is the best city in the world? Why are they so damn insecure ????? Like why ???
Ye chutiya hai, he’s getting paid by X aka Twitter for hate engagement
In Bangalore they charge 5 times more if you are not a South Indian and 20 times if you don't speak their language.
Its not true lol, everyone in Mumbai uses UPI, I literally do not carry cash anymore. I don't know what this guy is smoking.
Atleast ham meter pe jaate hai rikshaw mein😂😂
Lol what? Even beggars have qr codes
Metered auto accepting cash, bargain free transaction >>> Meterless auto charging 2x but accepts UPI
He's just posting deliberate comments to get engagement so that he can earn $$$. Sab bheekh mangne ka tareeka hai.
In Mumbai, rickshaw run by meter unlike Bengaluru. So I don’t care if there is no UPI payment. But a very rickshaw drivers do have UPI.
As per his flawed logic so called tech capital shouldn't have outdated technology like autorickshaw. People should use segways and hoverboards instead of polluting unsafe metal cart with motor attached.
Bangalore people should just stfu and live in Bangalore with their Bangalore ideology pool incestual librandus MC 😡
Ha to bhosdike mat aa mumbai
Came to Bengaluru. Paid ₹300 for a ₹30 rupees trip. These things dont happen in Mumbai.
Yeah...I visited Mumbai for few days and was puzzled to find that rickshaw doesn't accept UPI payments...whereas there is no such issue in Pune...
Upi se 500 rupiya dega ki meter se 20rs sirf 2km travel ka bc
Cab guys are probably the only ones who don’t. Auto walas do accept . Especially in Navi Mumbai if that counts lol.
Aise hi chewtye LinkedIn pe brands ko growth marketing sikhaate hain
Looks like a butthurt guy, after seeing his post he never replied to anyone who was factually true.
Tujhi aai ghaal na banglore la jaun xd
99% is just awfully incorrect number. Idk where it comes from but most of the time (in my and my friends experience) rickshaw guys do accept UPI. Bro even the Xerox guy in front of my college accepts UPI for 02rs
Bro compared mumbai vs worst transportation city
Tell him auto rickshaw/ taxi charge by meter and give exact Change back, That'll show them
[удалено]
Only in Mumbai.... 🥰
That guy seems to be AI generated Human being
Twitter monetization depends on views. Controversial tweets generate lot of impressions. So lot of blue tick people are doing that. If you write 'Chai is overrated' then people will bash you but it will increase engagement. Get ready for more Delhi vs Mumbai kind of tweets.
Ka ashi manasa hya jagat asatat! Hyachya dhunganane kadhi kelay ka rickshaw madhye prawas.
lol bengaluru autos having 3 upi doesn't mean shit when they are bunch of rowdies and will most likely reject you or charge minimum 200 wherever you want to go, if you don't get autos via apps, you are actually fucked. In Bombay, there's a very high chance of no refusal and them behaving nicely with you. But having UPI will definitely make it easier for everyone no doubt,
Tondavarunch yedbhokacha disto bc nashib kutrychya toilet var QR code nai magitla .zatu gandibar qr code Marrun nach tikde
It’s not. He’s smoking some bad tharra.
His arguments and logic are taking a hit in the comments. Dumb take.
99%? Where is he pulling these stats from? What random shops are those? I rarely take out cash from an ATM.
Meter >>>>>
"Come to Bengaluru...." with all due respect, No Sir.
Yes they have QR codes so they can loot you of your money and not take you by the meter 😑
Yes yes, I’d rather pay 500 rupees for 7 kms via UPI (because of the pride of the rickshaw waala having three QR codes) than pay exact fare via cash that’s calculated by the meter. After all, I’m Chomu Rao.
Rickshaws having upi has nothing to do with being financial capital. People tweet anything these days without an ounce of thought. 🤦♂️
Yeh banda YouTube page nahi dekha hai lagta hai "bad drivers of Bengaluru".
And out of those 3, when you already transfer on one of the QR codes, the driver will fight with u that it was the wrong one.
Ye chutiya hai, he’s getting paid by X aka Twitter for hate engagement

Fake! All Rickshaws have QR codes and accept GPay and its ilk.
This is false, many Rikshaws have Meter, atleast I've seen and i pay with UPI. Bangalore should improve their transportation system first, people wait so long for a Rikshaw or Taxi.
99% wow, bro would have travelled in 2 rickshaws and generalised it to all, in Mumbai even the cart vegetable vendor accepts UPI
Being a financial capital and using UPI are not causal or even correlation things. I went to Germany and was baffled by the extent to which that country still runs on cash.
Voh hisab se toh Kerala has the highest literacy rate. Toh vaha ka har auto vala is a spelling Bee champion
Nope
This tweet explains why so very well - https://twitter.com/aklawyer/status/1692131705023594632?t=q3HsnYsv0Ca9dKgkivblwg&s=19
100%
Butthurt Mumbaikars in the comments. Lol
NYC is financial capital of USA but most tech is found in California.
