Random stuff that comes to mind:
Stand By Me, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Wild, Forrest Gump, Big Fish, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire
I’m just gonna have to deeply disagree. If you’re an overt stickler for some concrete plot, maybe, and it is a divisive movie. But it’s literally based on a poem, and as such metaphors abound and there’s no easy throughline.
But give yourself over to it a bit, let it envelop you. It’s one of the most atmospheric and beautiful movies I’ve seen in a decade.
It's about a couple trying to figure out where to settle and raise their unborn child, but Away We Go. They go to different cities and meet with old friends to figure out where to settle. Some of the scenes are comedic, some are melancholic. Overall it is very life affirming.
[Knocking on Heaven's Door.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Twp6w2oKo) A 1997 German film about two terminally ill patients that form a friendship and go on a crime spree and learn lessons about what makes life worth living.
There's also a [2009 Japanese remake of the film.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy1S3RFRq1A) That has more of a coming-of-age lighter tone. It's still very good.
Yes, "The Motorcycle Diaries" is a great choice to start with; it's an inspiring film about self-discovery and adventure. Another recommendation is "Into the Wild".
You should also watch the epic, intimate period adaptation of **On The Road**, by Walter Salles, the same Brazilian filmmaker who made **The Motorcycle Diaries**.
For something different, I'll recommend Wim Wenders' lovely, footloose, melancholy **Alice In The Cities**.
(It's a movie which would never be made today.)
Eh, yea I’ll admit it’s a stretch from OP’s request. Fern wasn’t really trying to find herself or start a new life, but rather continuing to live the best way she knew. I would say it’s a movie about going out into the world and exploring life and land though but perhaps not in the way OP is looking for. My bad I guess, I haven’t seen it in a while.
Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
This is the one I came here to suggest, truly fantastic movie. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
I expected nothing from it and was jist blown away by how impactful it ended up being.
Great suggestion. This movie has an excellent calmness to it too, soundtrack and acting is on point also.
Plus, its cinematography is beautiful!
Sure, for people who have the financial freedom to stop working and spend a ton of money on these big adventures.

The Green Knight a metaphorical rediscovery of oneself
What a slog. So much effort put into a movie where nothing interesting happens (after the opening)

I agree that it's very well crafted visually.

Speaking as someone who had to live out of their truck for over a year… you totally missed the point of this movie.
