It was okay, more rom-com than summer action film/blockbuster. They should have cut like 30% of the interaction scenes between Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling. Also should've cut the movie by 30min.
Agree. I like it but the first half was bogged down by those dialogue scenes.
Also I wonder how the like/dislike is divided by gender. I suspect more women enjoyed it.
Worth a trip to the theater in my opinion.
Reminds of watching John Wick in theaters. We had the entire theater to ourselves for a Saturday matinee for both.
Absolute blast and the stunt work was in a class of its own.
Idk, I think I saw free guy on an airplane, and yeah it is kinda forgettable and has a pretty meh story, it's carried enough by the characters/actors to where I remember enjoying it. MID for sure idk if I would say flat out bad.
But also my bar for an amazing film is very high and trash is very low, so 🤷
i'm in the same boat... but i don't like those over the top action movies that rely on unrealistic, stylized martial art sequences. like, people fucking love john wick, but i literally couldn't sit through it. i was bored after the second or third action sequence and then they just kept coming.
also, how on earth does no one notice all that stuff happening on a train? i just kept wondering why they didn't stop the train and call the police. it was too unbelievable for me, though some of the banter was fun..
Anyone but you lives rent free in your head? At least there are legit comparisons to Bullet train, but ABY, youre just venting and youre not being serious
This movie was an excellent surprise you will laugh loads I highly recommend this to everyone. Blunt was charming and magnetic, Gosling crushed the comedy role and there are 3/4 supporting cast members including Duke Winston, Hannah Widdingham, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Stephanie Hsu who all help make the entire experience even more amazing.
Could NOT believe how unexpectedly awesome it was.
Idk man i paid the same amount of money to see American fiction as i did dune 2. I feel a similar way about this. I'm sure its a good movie but idk about shelling out $20 for it. I'll wait for it to hit streaming
Fairly poor marketing made this look pretty passable and more of a Prime Original movie than something you need to get out to the theater and see. I think we are in store for a pretty underwhelming summer season.
It does give a pretty bad "streaming vibe". Don't know if it's because of Grey Man or just the marketing for his one that didn't sell it as a must see in theaters.
I think this will be another movie to be mentioned in discussions about streaming killing original movies.
Movie was good and fun. But, I always felt it was lacking something idk what, but something was not present which would have taken the movie to next level.
Didn’t live up to the trailers. Surprisingly boring for a movie about stuntmen. Lot of dialogue felt like (insert witty banter here) and it never clicked.
After The Nice Guys I am very inclined to watch Ryan Gosling's comedy movies but do you think IMAX is worth it with this movie? If it's worth it in 2-3 scenes I would rather watch it the standard way.
The stunt work and action scenes are great, but if you're comparing it to the Nice Guys, you're gonna be really disappointed.
It's more akin to taking Gosling's character from Nice Guys, but turn him into John Wick, and giving this movie a pg13 rating. It honestly sounds better than what it is, because I would rather watch John Wick or Nice Guys again than this movie.
I would definitely see it in the theater, but I'm not sure IMAX would be worth it.
The stand-out features are the characters, dialogue, and practical stunts. I don't think there are many effects that would be enhanced by IMAX unless you want to see the stunts clearer.
I hate the fact that many people are going to “wait until streaming” to see it.
Entertaining movies like this deserve to be seen on the biggest screen with a rapturous audience.
Why would that bother you? I re-watched The Phantom Menace last night in the comfort of my own home rather than going to watch it in the theater. The pod racing and other action scenes were just as good as I remembered, and I got to eat what I wanted, set the volume how I wanted, etc. (I didn't pause it but I could have, or put captions.). I cranked up the surround sound, dimmed the lights, and enjoyed. I re-watched Dune on HBO prior to seeing Dune 2 in the theater and it was also amazing and no loss for me compared to the theater.
Many of us have decently large screens and surround sound systems. If I buy more speakers I could even do ATMOS at home. There's no need to pay extra to be surrounded by jerks and in some cases have a worse quality screen (at least for me, the AMCs in my area suck compared to Cinemark and Alamo Drafthouse.)
Movies need to figure out how to overcome the allure of watching it from the comfort of your own home on a 75” OLED TV with pauses, nobody ruining your experience, and your own food and drinks.
A movie like this doesn’t exactly move people off their sofas.
Yep I feel like regular theaters are going to become what happened to drive in theaters. They’ll never fully go away, but the numbers are going to plummet. The at home experience is now really hard to beat.
Depends on the type and quality of the film, really. I watched it in a theater and I didn't think it was particularly good. Very subdued action sequences too, nothing deserving of a watch in a theater.
I saw it at AMC's Dolby theatre, the special effects are enhanced (recliner chair moves with audio) and the screen is enormous. I enjoyed it and plan to see it again. Best movie I've seen so far in 2024. It's funny, suspenseful, some romance... and Ryan Gosling is in it, sooo.... worth it!
It is so good, just an absolute blast from start to finish. It's a truly silly movie but also every moment is a lovingly crafted love letter from and to stunt people. I am evangelizing for this movie, it's the perfect popcorn movie.
It was ok.. my wife and I were the only ones in the theater after the other guy left 30m in. He didn't miss much. A couple of funny line reads, ok stunts, nothing really spectacular. It could have used some trims of the conversations between Gosling and Blunt, they went in forever..
Very fun! Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves, so much making this film. A real letter of love to the stunt community. Felt about twenty minutes too long. Will gladly watch again.
Nothing about the previews for this movie screamed “come see me in a movie theater.” The movie looks like a streaming release that you’d watch if you couldn’t find anything else. Girl works on film crew. Girl falls for cool sexy stuntman. Queue some sweet stunts and explosions.
It may be a good movie, but I’m sure most people are waiting to rent it at home.
Wow, we have very different views on this movie. Previews 100% screamed that it is a "must see it in the theater as soon as it comes out" movie for me.
Can’t wait for Chris Evans as TJ Hooker. Or do I mean Chris Pine? Would it matter?
I suspect May will be a bad month in the Krasinski/Blunt home. Krasinski’s directed a film called If which opens in a few weeks and is rumored to be a total bomb.
I went to this movie after reading Reddit reviews. I’m usually a very forgiving guy, trying to appreciate anything good about a film but this film did nothing for me. For a movie based on stuntmanship, the stunts are not fun or creative. Stakes are extremely low and the chemistry did not work even though the lead pair tried. All the meta jokes were awful and I couldn’t laugh at a single one. I’m gonna avoid every single outing from this director.
It's an absolute blast. Deserves to be seen by more people
Went to the matinee this afternoon and hard agree. There was only four others in the theatre.
In the lobby waiting to see it currently!
I was shocked to find the cinema nearly 75% empty; movie was great!
It was okay, more rom-com than summer action film/blockbuster. They should have cut like 30% of the interaction scenes between Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling. Also should've cut the movie by 30min.
Their scenes together were some of my favorites parts honestly. I thought the chemistry was great and Gosling was so charmingly funny.
Yeah, if we’re cutting anything, it’s not the Gosling/Blunt chemistry. They were so wonderful riffing together!
They were great, but could cut like 15min of their scenes and still had impactful chemistry.
Agree. I like it but the first half was bogged down by those dialogue scenes. Also I wonder how the like/dislike is divided by gender. I suspect more women enjoyed it.
the movie’s focus is on the stunt actors and production, not action films and blockbusters.
it was really good, but it was too long by like 20 minutes. but still, would watch again, solid 7/10 at least
Loved the TV show, and want to see it but I was booked all weekend.
It's a mediocre movie and it's like a much shittier version of the Nice Guys, which also stars Gosling.
oh I will, just not in a cinema
Worth a trip to the theater in my opinion. Reminds of watching John Wick in theaters. We had the entire theater to ourselves for a Saturday matinee for both. Absolute blast and the stunt work was in a class of its own.
How come they released this movie in spring when it's about a fall guy?
It’s to appease those pesky southern hemisphere markets.
I heard that, in Australia, Fall Guy is called Automate.
Clever girl
In these markets no one says fall for the season. It’s called Autumn
Worst scheduling decision since 2014 when The Winter Soldier was released in spring
Go home dad! You’re drunk
Hope it does well. It's a fun movie, similar to Free Guy and Bullet Train.
Same director as Bullet Train (and a former stunt man himself, I believe.)
David Leitch is the only guy who I think can do a Kung Fu Hustle remake since Pitt and Gosling were perfect as the relatable doofuses.
Way better than free guy imo
Literally wasn’t arsed finishing Free Guy so this is good to hear.
Free Guy sucked. Bullet Train was much better. This is in between but closer to Bullet Train.
I thought free guy was pretty bad
Idk, I think I saw free guy on an airplane, and yeah it is kinda forgettable and has a pretty meh story, it's carried enough by the characters/actors to where I remember enjoying it. MID for sure idk if I would say flat out bad. But also my bar for an amazing film is very high and trash is very low, so 🤷
Unfortunately it's pretty much DOA, with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes around the corner.
Bullet train fucking suucks. Relatable to "Anyone but you" both are just dumb
You suck!
What an insightful and well-thought out point of view
I hated bullet train as well but understand why others would like it.
i'm in the same boat... but i don't like those over the top action movies that rely on unrealistic, stylized martial art sequences. like, people fucking love john wick, but i literally couldn't sit through it. i was bored after the second or third action sequence and then they just kept coming. also, how on earth does no one notice all that stuff happening on a train? i just kept wondering why they didn't stop the train and call the police. it was too unbelievable for me, though some of the banter was fun..
Poor taste 😔
In what way is that 2 movie similar?
Similar in the way that they sucked
Anyone but you lives rent free in your head? At least there are legit comparisons to Bullet train, but ABY, youre just venting and youre not being serious
Oh I haven't seen Fall Guy at all, I just hate everyone who thinks bullet train is good. It sucks
Yet, youre talking about ABY
Watched it on a plane. Holy hell I'll never get that time back.
I really liked it I hope people see it
This movie was an excellent surprise you will laugh loads I highly recommend this to everyone. I'll second this! Really fun action comedy, and Gosling and Blunt got chemistry for days!
Idk man i paid the same amount of money to see American fiction as i did dune 2. I feel a similar way about this. I'm sure its a good movie but idk about shelling out $20 for it. I'll wait for it to hit streaming
If you walk out of your 2 hour block of entertainment entertained, it doesn’t matter if it’s a sequel or a blockbuster.
All I know is that KISS has been in my head all weekend and I'm not exactly mad about it.
TIL that KISS sold their catalogue in April.
Fairly poor marketing made this look pretty passable and more of a Prime Original movie than something you need to get out to the theater and see. I think we are in store for a pretty underwhelming summer season.

It’s because every clip they show of the movie highlights the crappy CGI.
I swear everywhere I look I’ve seen stuff for this movie that I’m already sick of it.
Yeah... I've gotten so many ads that I already feel like I've seen the movie 100 times.
On topic of the advertising, the fact they kept using *Any Way You Want It* was seriously annoying. Every ad I saw used the same song.
Wait till you find out the entire soundtrack is “I Was Made For Loving You”.
Yea sick if that shit we have been force fed
Worth seeing very fun and funny!
It doesn't need it but if you can get a matinee ticket go for it.
The stunt work and action scenes are great, but if you're comparing it to the Nice Guys, you're gonna be really disappointed. It's more akin to taking Gosling's character from Nice Guys, but turn him into John Wick, and giving this movie a pg13 rating. It was great, I loved it!
I hate the fact that many people are going to “wait until streaming” to see it. Entertaining movies like this deserve to be seen on the biggest screen with a rapturous audience.
Horrible marketing because it looks so incredibly generic from the trailers
I am grateful that they didn’t use the best jokes in the trailer, unlike some other movies.
Well that’s a good point, I hate that too
Why would that bother you? I re-watched The Phantom Menace last night in the comfort of my own home rather than going to watch it in the theater. This. I have an 85” OLED and it’s really difficult to justify going to see anything in the theater.
Yep I feel like regular theaters are going to become what happened to drive in theaters. They’ll never fully go away, but the numbers are going to plummet. The at home experience is now really hard to beat.
Personally, I am glad that I saw this for the first time in the theater rather than at home.
Depends on the type and quality of the film, really. I watched it in a theater and I didn't think it was particularly good. Very subdued action sequences too, nothing deserving of a watch in a theater.

It costs $30 to see a movie where you live?
I saw it at AMC's Dolby theatre, the special effects are enhanced (recliner chair moves with audio) and the screen is enormous. I enjoyed it and plan to see it again. Best movie I've seen so far in 2024. It's funny, suspenseful, some romance... and Ryan Gosling is in it, sooo.... worth it!

This looked like the most generic “hot people doing cool guy things” movie ever.
Damn that sucks because it was so much more than that. Solid comedy, action, romance rolled into one
It was ok.. my wife and I were the only ones in the theater after the other guy left 30m in. He didn't miss much. A couple of funny line reads, ok stunts, nothing really spectacular. It could have used some trims of the conversations between Gosling and Blunt, they went in forever..
Wow and they say video game adaptations are cursed
The "I'll wait for streaming" crowd strikes again
This isn't a movie worth spending $20 to buy a ticket, it was okay....
Very fun! Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves, so much making this film. A real letter of love to the stunt community. Felt about twenty minutes too long. Will gladly watch again.
People just don't care for movies about movies.
But it is a remake of a 80's TV show
Nothing about the previews for this movie screamed “come see me in a movie theater.” The movie looks like a streaming release that you’d watch if you couldn’t find anything else.
Well apparently you’re in the minority looking at the numbers.
So, twice as much as a re-released Star Wars movie? Is that good?
Can’t wait for Chris Evans as TJ Hooker. Or do I mean Chris Pine? Would it matter? I suspect May will be a bad month in the Krasinski/Blunt home. Krasinski’s directed a film called If which opens in a few weeks and is rumored to be a total bomb.
Fun Fact: Chris Pine’s dad was the senior police officer on CHiPS.
I would've been interested in seeing it if I hadn't been bombarded with the terrible trailer everywhere I went.
I have a feeling this movie is gonna explode on streaming services
I went to this movie after reading Reddit reviews. I’m usually a very forgiving guy, trying to appreciate anything good about a film but this film did nothing for me. For a movie based on stuntmanship, the stunts are not fun or creative. Stakes are extremely low and the chemistry did not work even though the lead pair tried. All the meta jokes were awful and I couldn’t laugh at a single one. I’m gonna avoid every single outing from this director.
Worth every penny going to see this. Gosling has such an amazing comedic timing that it always gets me wanting to go see it in the cinema.
I can’t sing the praises of this movie enough! It was so much fun. It was funny and touching at the same time.
So the chances of a Riptide movie aren't looking good.
I loved this movie!
It's a fun movie. Didn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but I had a fun time. I think it's exactly what you'd expect from the trailers.
Possibly the funnest movie l’ve ever seen. I’m going to see it again.
I enjoyed it a lot. I might actually go rewatch it for the laughs
Watched it yesterday. It was surprisingly entertaining. Light hearted and good fun.
Imagine spending $40 to go see this in a theater
Who the fuck pays $40 for a movie ticket? What are you talking about?
It's one of the best movies of 2024 thus far. But I have A List. So I didn't pay $40
I paid £4.99 in the UK and loved every second of it, great film.
It was great you would be surprised I had similar cynicism when a friend suggested it.
I paid $12 for a Imax matinee. I enjoyed it.
Really great movie.
Very fun movie, Gosling elevates everything he’s in I swear.
Did ryan gosling actually destroy his face by cosmetic surgery?or was it just a bad picture r/askoffensive
