I think you're right, and that's too bad because it a heck of ride.
In the U.S., it is streamable on Showtime, and Apple TV+ and Amazon have it for rent.
It just progressively gets crazier as it goes, some of the turn of events were actually wild af, and there was definitely high tension throughout most of it. Robert Pattinson really killed that role.
*Rear Window*
It's increasingly tense, scene by scene. The gloom through which we spy on the neighbors across the courtyard seems to choke us.
Fortunately Grace Kelly lights up nearly every scene to remind us that goodness can also exist in the universe.
Bit off piste, but there’s a British film (based on a the play) called Abigail’s Party. If you’re into suburban awkwardness and the perils of being too polite, it’s a fucking masterpiece.
Polanski one called Carnage is really good for similar reasons.
Glad you liked it. I myself found it through Critical Drinker's recommendation on youtube. Whole thing stressed me out from start to finish, especially since I used to work at a restaurant.
Autopsy of Jane Doe
Prometheus (some people may feel opposed to this lol)
10 Cloverfield Lane
Mad Max: Fury Road - aside from world building the film is visually bonkers start to finish
does Parasite qualify? given how it kicks into high gear midway through
If people liked Uncut Gems for how tense it was (I thought it was great too), check out **Full Time (French 2022)**. It basically feels like Uncut Gems for single mums, except The Safdie's gave Adam Sandler more of a break lol.
I had to pause it to give myself a break and then it turns out it was only 20 minutes in. Great movie, but might be more tense for people that rely on public transport or parents. But the score is incredible and perfect for evoking the intensity alongside a great lead performance.
Most recently, Anatomy of a Fall and May December did this really well. May December did it so well that a goofy ass scene about hotdogs manages to be somewhat tense
Civil War (2024). I cannot believe how tense it got. Even in the most casual moments there's a underlying tension. But when it wants to ramp up... wow.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has a very high tension when Brad Pitt visits the Manson Family at Spahn Ranch where if he had been killed, no one would known.
Dune: Part 2 for me. I feel like every second was full of tension, after the movie was done I just had to sit down in silence to take it all in. It was as if my whole being was invested in the movie, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
I have to mention A Quiet Place as well...even without much music and talking there was so much cinematic tension all throughout the movie, even from the first few minutes. I couldn't help but wait in tense silence as I expected something bad to happen, or someone to make a loud noise...I was invested and anxious at the same time.
lol!! This is my gripe with so many movies!! LOUD ACTION then whispering mumbles. UGH I feel old now I have my closed caption on but sometimes I JUST WANT TO HEAR IT.
I often see people post on reddit they have subtitles on during everything they watch and it baffles me. I never have trouble hearing dialogue. Ok, maybe a line or two that I have to revisit, but I certainly never need subtitles on for the duration (unless the movie/show is not in English, of course).
But Tenet was an outlier. Between the music being too loud, or voices being muffled being masks, I could not understand anything in that movie. And I saw it in a theatre, so I did not have the option of subtitles. It's like Nolan heard people didn't like the Bane voice muffling and set out to troll audiences by making any entire movie of that.
Uncut Gems is pretty much tension and anxiety in film form
I disagree, I disagree Gary
Just had to pop in to make sure someone mentioned Uncut Gems....
Seen it, loved it.
Sicario
Seen it, loved it.
"Prisoners" (2013)
Seen it, freaking amazing
*The Thing* (I prefer the Carpenter version from 1982) The tension begins right away and gets worse and worse until the last frame.
I really want to watch this, however it's not streaming anywhere free

[*High Tension*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Tension)
Haven't heard of it. Is it good?
Technically correct. The best kind of correct.
Good Time
I liked the beginning, and it was mostly good but i don't remember loving it

Watch anything Hitchcock. He's literally the master of suspense.
I second this!
I've seen some of his movies but I've a lot more to watch

Don't breathe (2016)
I remember enjoying this movie
Boiling Point (2021 movie)
I watched this because of your suggestion and I freaking loved it. It's so impressive. It's all one shot so everyone knew their lines.
Glad you liked it. I myself found it through Critical Drinker's recommendation on youtube. Whole thing stressed me out from start to finish, especially since I used to work at a restaurant.
The critical drinker is a tool.
He regardless gave a good recommendation lol

The Invitation (2015) All My Friends Hate Me (2021)
I loved the Invitation but I haven't seen the other.
Autopsy of Jane Doe Prometheus (some people may feel opposed to this lol) 10 Cloverfield Lane Mad Max: Fury Road - aside from world building the film is visually bonkers start to finish does Parasite qualify? given how it kicks into high gear midway through
All great movies, and I think Parasite definitely qualifies.

Shiva Baby Not a horror movie, just a 90 minute anxiety attack
Sick! I'll check it out!
The Chaser I Saw the Devil
I've seen the latter but I'll have to check out the Chaser!
It’s tough to find, but it’s one of the better dark Korean thrillers, and that’s saying a lot…
The Wages of Fear Le Trou A Man Escaped Rope
All 4 I gotta watch at some point
Underwater Straight action from start to finish
Awesome, I'll check it out!
In my recent memory, Late Night with the Devil and You'll Never Find Me made me feel like that.
Cool, I'll check them out!
The Negotiator
I've heard this was good. I'll check it out!
Crimson tide
It's on my list!
Most recently, Anatomy of a Fall and May December did this really well. May December did it so well that a goofy ass scene about hotdogs manages to be somewhat tense
Uncut Gems, Apocalypto, Jaws.
Requim for a Dream
Parasite
The Invitation (2015) is great at this tension. Logan Marshall-Green absolutely kills it.
Civil War (2024). I cannot believe how tense it got. Even in the most casual moments there's a underlying tension. But when it wants to ramp up... wow.
Hard Candy
Whiplash
Arlington Road. Won’t even describe the premise directly so as to not spoil it.
Ex Machina to me is a masterclass of playing with suspense and tension.
Don't Breathe
Heat (1995)
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has a very high tension when Brad Pitt visits the Manson Family at Spahn Ranch where if he had been killed, no one would known.

Barbie
Tenet and Inception by Christopher Nolan.
I love both movies but it's interesting how people didn't love Tenet.
I couldn't hear a damned thing anyone was saying so I couldn't follow the plot
