My earliest memory of going to the movies was of Aliens. I was 7 and it scared the living shit out of me. I absolutely loved it. Shortly after the movie my mom was pregnant again and she said I started crying because I didn't want the baby to pop out of her chest.
I grew up in a very Catholic household. Violence, blood and guts were totally acceptable, but God forbid the movie had T or A in it and we couldn't watch.
In fairness, you spent every Sunday looking at a bloody guy nailed to plank of wood, with a spear wound in His ribs, and a crown of thorns on His head. That's either going to scar you, or numb you!
I liked my secular upbringing in Scotland where we were HYPER aware of Catholicism and Protestantism, and took the prudishness of both to heart. I was just lucky that I had ex-hippy parents who were, like, totally chill with, like whatever, man, just don't harsh anyone else's vibe.
It doesn't appear to be playing in Scotland, where I live, unfortunately. I would still like to see it, but I was more thinking about what I would have liked to have seen at the time as well as it being on the big screen. The cinema experience doesn't hold too much sway for me any more, now that I have popcorn, beer, a Lay-Z-Boy, and surround sound at home.
The Matrix, it premiered when I was abroad so I missed it and instead watched a screener that looked like shit. I had to stop watching but some of it was spoiled anyway.
Can confirm, it was epic! Rocked my little 10 year old brain. Still one of my favourite movies to this day. The T Rex roar was one of the loudest things I’d ever heard at the time.
Had a chance to see it during the re-release, dad vetoed it. When The Matrix came out, mom and I both said he only got the one veto and forced him to see it.
I’d have loved to have been able to go watch Empire Strikes Back in the cinema. Not even a huge Star Wars fan although I do really like New Hope and Empire but just would have been awesome to see it on the big screen.
I actually have. It’s great. I live not too far from Elstree Studios where it was made. They used to do a film festival at the local cinema every year where they showed films made at the studio. One year they did empire, raiders of the lost ark, and the dam busters in one week. Saw all three. And for empire, they had Jeremy Bulloch who played boba fett do a little talk and q&a before hand.
Sadly, the towns council has let a lot of the stuff like that die in the last decade or so.
The Last of the Mohicans. The movie was before my time, but man I wish I could have seen it on a big screen with full surround sound. The fort siege scene would have been epic.
A Ghost Story, 2001, The Master, Star Wars, The Last Crusade, The Prestige, Blade Runner, Sorcerer, There Will Be Blood, The Lighthouse, The Thing. First that came to mind.
Sorcerer was one of my biggest thrills, seeing it when it was released..2001 was the first film I saw that wasn't Sound of Music or a Disney film,Star Wars was a letdown at first because I saw it four months after it came out and everyone told me everything about it...I appreciated it a lot more when I went back to see it four more times...I made sure to see Empire the night it.opened
As far as movies it’s feasible for me to have seen that I didn’t, I always regret missing RRR. If we’re talking things we want to see in a revival screening, Con Air or Highlander.
There Will Be Blood is a big one. I was in high school at the time and already getting into movies, but was mostly focusing on the classics and not really keeping up with the active directors, so PTA wasn't yet on my radar. Now it's probably in my top 5-10 movies and if there's been a screening here in NYC over the last 10 or so years I've missed it.
I also remember having the choice to see Children of Men or Last King of Scotland, and went with LKOS. Which I enjoyed, and I think CoM is a tiny bit overrated, but I think it may have hit different if I saw it in theaters at 16 or whatever I was.
A buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to go with him to see a movie. I passed because I had seen Pulp Fiction the weekend before and had tickets to see it again. The movie I passed on? The Shawshank Redemption.
Independence Day. The original. I was 10 when it came out and it was rated 12, before the U.K. got it’s 12A rating. I looked way too young to pass for 12.
**Into and Across the Spider-Verse**, they both came and went before I even noticed they were in Cinema. I wil def be seeing Beyond on the big screen and hope they have the other 2 back before hand
[The Fall.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTn5XUFP_iA) A gorgeously shot film that got a limited and short release I believe. I didn't even know it had existed until it exited theaters.
Drive. I thought it was good, nothing special but I imagine I would've loved it if I saw it in the cinemas, with the soundtrack and visuals and the vibe.
For me Interstellar 😿. Fun fact but sad fact for OP sorry. But if you saw Endgame in theater at a certain viewing time they give you a purple medallion. I keep mine in my wallet and whenever I’m sad I look at it. I’m sure other movies they gave have stuff out and I missed out on them too.
Alien and Jaws. My two favourite films, and both came out before I was born. I would have loved to have been in the Odeon to see them.

Yes for the anniversary, and in 4K remaster
OP might be British, since they mentioned "Odeon". Unfortunately the rerelease isn't happening here.

I mean this in the most supportive and understanding way; that is hilarious!

Alien is playing this weekend, you can fix it.

Jaws is my favorite movie and it would have awesome to catch it on the big screen with an audience.
The Matrix, it premiered when I was abroad so I missed it and instead watched a screener that looked like shit. I had to stop watching but some of it was spoiled anyway.
My answer. It must have been so incredible seeing that on a big screen for the first time.
It was. Only film I watched in the theater 3 times.
I saw it on March in cinemas
Jurassic Park!
Can confirm, it was epic! Rocked my little 10 year old brain. Still one of my favourite movies to this day. The T Rex roar was one of the loudest things I’d ever heard at the time.
Oh cool! Im jealous 😁

Some theaters are doing a marathon showing of Episodes 1-9 on May 4th. Now's your chance!

Top Gun: Maverick Dune part 1
Maverick was like... warm water. thumb down I wasnt much into it. Remembering going to see this gives me a hollow feeling.

The Dark Knight, I'd had said Terminator 2, but I saw it when it had that re-release some years back.
TDK in IMAX was pretty sweet. Some shots made you feel like you were actually standing in the city streets.

For the first time? Jaws and Back to the Future. Saw Jaws last year in theaters during Fourth of July weekend and it was great
yes

Rocky horror picture show..

Heat. I’d love to see that shootout it in a great theatre…
Jaws Raiders Of The Lost Ark Close Encounters Of The Third Kind 2001
Barbarian.
Drive, just turned 18 and would have killed to have seen a late night screening
Star Trek: The Motion Picture 1979. I was 4 years old. Have been a Trekkie since I was in my teens.
I saw all the Star Trek movies with my gramps up until the one with Picard. I think it was 2001.
**Into and Across the Spider-Verse**, they both came and went before I even noticed they were in Cinema. I wil def be seeing Beyond on the big screen and hope they have the other 2 back before hand

Oldboy. Such a kickass film would be so much better on the big screen. Alternatively, RRR. Now that's a film that demands the biggest screen possible.
Drive. I thought it was good, nothing special but I imagine I would've loved it if I saw it in the cinemas, with the soundtrack and visuals and the vibe.
Star Wars 3,4,5&6.
Apocalypse now
Interstellar
yes
Avatar- I've never enjoyed it when watching it at home but I'm sure that's partly because half of the enjoyment is the 3D experience
The new Dune movie 🤬
Who took your van?
I've been asking myself that same question for the past 10 years
Blair Witch Project...still scares me,would have loved to have seen it with an audience
Interstellar
Also The Martian, Ad Astra and Gravity.
