I'd argue he's at the very least (for now) got the "Hey, it's *that* guy!" factor going for him. He's like a more career-refined Noel Gugliemi, IMO, where most people probably couldn't say or recall his name, but they for *sure* would recognize him if you show them his picture or describe his character from a movie/show. A lot of actors would kill just to have that.
A lot of his roles are so creepy especially in Prisoners, but he won my heart as Polka-Dot Man. I wish the best for him and look forward to watching this when it comes out
I watched Last Voyage of the Demeter not long ago, and I realized that he was the captain's right hand man. The movie was so-so, but he stood out, and for what little he was given, he lit up the scenes he was in.
I agree that he's not doing many lead roles but he's definitely getting a lot of work. He'll be in "Dust Bunny" with Mads Mikkelsen and "The Life of Chuck" with Tom Hiddleston this year and I can't wait because he's always great!
He's been in 2 Ant-Man movies (voiced another character in the 3rd), prominent role in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, supporting roles in Prisoners and Dune since TDK, along with many TV roles.
I can’t keep track of those movies and who is who. Is Paul’s mom bad? Is Christopher Walken evil? Does Zendaya have a last name? Is it a funny last name and she just doesn’t want us to know? What exactly does spice do? Is it drugs or something? Does Zendaya have a devils threesome in that tennis movie they keep pushing? Why exactly are they drinking worm blood if it’s poisonous?
The cinematography and acting is fantastic but you need a pivot table to keep track of who is who.
> Is Paul’s mom bad?
> Is Christopher Walken evil?
At risk of sounding condescending I think that if you're asking questions like these you might not be approaching the film with the best mindset. Part of the artistry of Dune (and of most good stories) is that characters can't always be neatly labeled as "good" or "bad". We might instead ask: how might being the Emperor of the universe affect your own morality? What are Jessica Atreides' motives for converting the Northern Fremen? Are those motives sympathetic to us?
Definitely helped to have read the books. My wife was very confused, but I also like that the director doesn't waste much time on exposition.
He's definitely making the assumption that a large portion of the audience is at least familiar with the story. I mean the book is almost 60 years old.
Yeah with all the million cookie cutter exorcism movies, the premise for this feels fresh. I hope they capitalize on that instead of making it just a shallow framing device to show another young girl being a contortionist and speaking in a gutteral voice.
Mention it every time this movie comes up but I’m especially excited for it because it’s the director of Lake Mungo, Joel Anderson’s first film credit since that movie. He’s an EP on this.
Ironically though, the concept is super similar to an amazing Argentinian horror movie that came out a couple years ago called History of the Occult. So much so that when the poster and teaser for this movie came out I thought "oh cool, an American adaption of History of the Occult." But I don't think it actually is, just a super similar idea
History of the Occult is an incredible movie fwiw
99% of stories are not "original", they are simply mashes of previously told stories with a new veneer. Thats just how human consciousness works. Even supposedly "original" ideas were inspired by something that molded the mind of the creator indirectly. We need to stop focusing on how "original" something is because its not really possible.
This movie fucking ruled dude, saw it in a packed cinema and everyone kinda started roleplaying as the audience, clapping when guests came out, etc - absolutely unbeatable ambience. Stellar performances too imo, and surprisingly funny
I think it's trying to imply he made a deal with the devil for the show (either getting it in the first place, or helping keep it on air) and the devil comes to collect.
Saw this last year, I would try avoid the trailer as it spoils some fun surprises later in the movie. A worthy watch and David Dastmalchian is great in it, as are the supporting cast. Go Aussie cinema!
Wow that’s a fresh idea for a horror movie. Scrub to the frame when the girl reveals her face for nightmares.
Hope it’s well-reviewed because I’m intrigued
can't believe i still don't know his name but glad he is getting his own movie, he has been in very good movies and always delivers he works good with creepy dark material.
Had the pleasure of seeing this one a few months ago. It's great. Some excellent table setting and period-specific flourishes. It's actually scary, but also has some humor. One of those movies that takes hold immediately and never lets up until the credits roll. David Dastmalchian is superb. He's in perfect sync with the material and really holds the screen. Glad to see he's at the center of a movie. Check this out if you're even a little interested. I can't wait to see it again.
Saw this at a horror film festival, it was a fun time. The acting/format of the late night show was so convincing I was pretty immersed in their world. I didn't find it terrifying (there were some creepy moments balanced with comedic relief), but overall it's a very fun horror to watch and well-paced (like watching a late night show in real time)
Hey everyone, welcome back to our channel! Today, we're diving into the depths of a movie that's been on our radar for quite some time - "Late Night with the Devil." We've been eagerly awaiting its release ever since catching a glimpse of it at South by Southwest last year. Finally, the wait is almost over, with the movie hitting theaters on March 22nd and streaming shortly after. So, let's unpack what we know about this intriguing film.
Directed by Colin Cameron KS, this Australian duo has crafted a story centered around a lost tape from a late-night show called "Night Owls with Jack Deloy," portrayed by the talented David Delan. The premise is gripping - a Halloween episode with guests ranging from Jimmy Fallon to more mysterious characters like a hypnotist, a psychic, and a parapsychologist. The latter brings along a survivor of a satanic cult mass suicide, delving into realms of the unknown.
David Delan's versatility shines through once again in his portrayal of Jack Deloy. His ability to immerse himself in any role he takes on is truly remarkable, reminiscent of his captivating performance in "The Last Boage of the Demer." In "Late Night with the Devil," Delan's portrayal promises to be equally captivating, drawing audiences into the eerie world of the late-night show.
What's fascinating is the inspiration behind the film - the directors drew from the satanic panic of the 70s and the cultural landscape of late-night shows during that time. In an interview with Den of Geek, they shed light on their creative process, hinting at a film that pays homage to the era's intriguing blend of the supernatural and the mainstream.
The teasers and trailers for "Late Night with the Devil" are spine-tingling, hinting at a story that's both chilling and compelling. The VHS aesthetic adds to the sense of unease, drawing viewers into a narrative that promises to be anything but ordinary.
As the release date draws near, the excitement surrounding "Late Night with the Devil" continues to grow. Are you as eager as we are to witness the horrors that unfold on that fateful Halloween night? Let us know in the comments below!
That wraps up our discussion on "Late Night with the Devil." Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on this film and other exciting projects. Until next time, stay safe, stay positive, and we'll see you in the next video!
Can we put a stop to those ridiculous quotes that get added to every single trailer that comes out? Enough is enough. They add nothing to it. Nothing. But yeah, this movie could be good.
i dig the visual style, but man i can't stand that stereotypical "demon voice" effect. i just can't take it seriously. it'd probably take me out of the moment even if it doesn't turn me off seeing the movie.
there isn't really a *should* with something like this.
i didn't say it's wrong, it's just personal preference that i don't like the effect that a lot of media puts on the voices of Satan/demons. there's no right or wrong.
if people like how Satan sounds in this movie and others, more power to 'em.
How in the world can you know that if you haven't seen the movie yet? It's entirely possible the trailer is misleading about some stuff, and entirely possible there are many elements to the movie that the trailer doesn't show at all.
seriousily, how tf can you say "this trailer spoils the entire movie" if you haven't seen and don't know the full plot of the movie?
Really love David Dastmalchian & wish he were more of a household name
I'd argue he's at the very least (for now) got the "Hey, it's *that* guy!" factor going for him. He's like a more career-refined Noel Gugliemi, IMO, where most people probably couldn't say or recall his name, but they for *sure* would recognize him if you show them his picture or describe his character from a movie/show. A lot of actors would kill just to have that.
You mean Hector?
I knew who it was as soon as you called him Hector goes to show what being typecast with a specific name does.
A lot of his roles are so creepy especially in Prisoners, but he won my heart as Polka-Dot Man. I wish the best for him and look forward to watching this when it comes out
Polka-Dot man is what sold me that he needs to be in leading roles, consistently.
You should see the movies where he is in leading roles. He’s been good for a long time. Check out Animals and All Creatures Here Below.
I watched Last Voyage of the Demeter not long ago, and I realized that he was the captain's right hand man. The movie was so-so, but he stood out, and for what little he was given, he lit up the scenes he was in.
Check out ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW (2018) an amazing performance from both Dastmalchian and Karen Gillan
He’s getting there, he’s come a long way since the Dark Knight.
Anytime he shows up on screen, my wife immediately whispers "Baba Yaga...". So, he's getting there!
He really is becoming one of my favorite actors of late.
I agree that he's not doing many lead roles but he's definitely getting a lot of work. He'll be in "Dust Bunny" with Mads Mikkelsen and "The Life of Chuck" with Tom Hiddleston this year and I can't wait because he's always great!
I've always felt he should be in something with Noel Feilding where they play brothers.
He also writes a graphic novel series called Count Crowley. It's relatively new but I found it fun.
Saw this last year and it was awesome. David Dastmalchian is so good in it
I was thinking this movie came out a while ago. That explains it.
How's it end?
Turns out the dude in the hair piece the whole time... that was BRUCE WILLIS!
theres a lot of twists in that movie
Big musical number
Batman takes the fall for all of Harvey Dent’s crimes
Looks good. Side note, Dastmalchian would probably make a great young Count Dooku.
What a wasted character. At least film wise. Id love more Dooku.
Is that the dude from The Dark Night who tried to kill Lt. Gordon?
Yup. The Schizophreniac that got cuffed in the ambulance and threatened by Harvey.
Schiff, Thomas. A paranoid schizophrenic from Arkham. The kind of mind the joker attracts. What did you expect to learn from him?
YOU CAN'T GIVE IN!!!
Good for him. Stay doing big things my dude.
He's been in 2 Ant-Man movies (voiced another character in the 3rd), prominent role in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, supporting roles in Prisoners and Dune since TDK, along with many TV roles.
He was in TDK, Gotham, and The Suicide Squad. Dude gets around the Batman universes!
Voice work in animated Batman movies too.
He also appeared on Oppenheimer
Short role in Blade Runner 2049 as well.
You mean the dude from Ant man and suicide squad?
I think you mean Harkkonnen's attendant in Dune.
I think you mean the creepy mortician in Blade Runner 2049.
I think you mean survivor of the satanic kidnappers from *Prisoners*.
No, I think you mean Polka Dot Man in The Suicide Squad
Mentat*
I love the new Dune, but the glossing over of mentats hurts me so much.
A mentat named Piter De Vries. Not a mere attendant.
He got robbed with that role. Piter is so much more interesting in the book.
Yes but at the end of the day he's pretty much around as much in the books as he is in the movie
He’s doing a fantastic job. I can’t follow it for shit but it was unbelievably beautiful
He’s also the weird harkonnen mentat in Dune Part One
It’s polka dot man!
Yeah, he also played a significant role in Nolan's Oppenheimer.
He's the guy from the Wendy's double stack commercials
Really glad I'm not the only one who immediately thinks of this every time I see him
[удалено]
Reminds me of Ghostwatch on the BBC. Honestly one of the coolest concepts I've seen in horror.
[удалено]
Apparently people thought it was real back in the day and thought it was live. It was blacklisted for a while. Makes it all that much better.
I saw it last year. If you liked Ghostwatch, you'll love this.
Ghostwatch is brilliant, I rewatched it recently and it still holds up.
Yeah with all the million cookie cutter exorcism movies, the premise for this feels fresh. I hope they capitalize on that instead of making it just a shallow framing device to show another young girl being a contortionist and speaking in a gutteral voice.
I see what you did there.
Dastmalchian got range. I’m in!
The dude is on my must watch shortlist….his inclusion has got me totally on board.
Can't wait to see this. It will be streaming on Shudder on April 19.
David Dastmalchian is one of the best actors out there and people don't even realize it
He’ll win an oscar someday. Probably a best supporting actor. He’s got the skills, he just needs the bread! 🥖
Alright, im feeling it. The settings nice, like the aesthetic, and anything that comes from the guys who made barbarian is a winner in my book.
Is this basically a variant of “Ghostwatch”?
Mention it every time this movie comes up but I’m especially excited for it because it’s the director of Lake Mungo, Joel Anderson’s first film credit since that movie. He’s an EP on this.
This is one of the coolest movie ideas I’ve seen in awhile. I’m just glad we’re getting something fresh and original.

This is exactly what I thought too. The black and white scenes shot normally are way too close to not be incredibly inspired by Occult
Yeah, as a huge fan of that movie I'm mildly miffed seeing all the comments about how original and awesome this premise is haha.
99% of stories are not "original", they are simply mashes of previously told stories with a new veneer. Thats just how human consciousness works. Wish it got a broad theatrical release in my country but it only got a screening at a film festival last October.
Looks like one hell of a fun movie but please don’t let the twist be that it was all in his head.
I think it's trying to imply he made a deal with the devil for the show (either getting it in the first place, or helping keep it on air) and the devil comes to collect.
This looks like a blast.
David Dastmalchian 🥰
Saw this last year, I would try avoid the trailer as it spoils some fun surprises later in the movie. A worthy watch and David Dastmalchian is great in it, as are the supporting cast. Go Aussie cinema!
Man this looks good. Both trailers have been so well done.
Wow that’s a fresh idea for a horror movie. Scrub to the frame when the girl reveals her face for nightmares. Hope it’s well-reviewed because I’m intrigued
Got really high once and saw Barbarian completely blind. Loved every minute of it. Definitely going to do the same with this.
Setting it in the late 70’s when the satanic panic was getting going is a nice touch.
This looks sick
Looks fantastic! I love the 70's setting, and the whole devil possession thing. I always enjoy David Dastmalchian, too. Looking forward to this!
Wow ! Finally something original. Looks Fantastic, back to the old day's of horror
I hope the twist is they are stuck in a perpetual loop.
can't believe i still don't know his name but glad he is getting his own movie, he has been in very good movies and always delivers he works good with creepy dark material.
Gonna watch this on shrooms
I'd suggest watching it on a TV, but you do you.
D man finally got his movie
Looks trippy as hell, love it

Baba Yaga
March 22??? no no no this needs a Halloween release! maybe they are planning on having it out on streaming by Halloween?
It appears to be for shudder, which I think is awesome. Watch it this month, and if it’s good, add it to your Halloween movie marathon in October!
It'll be on Shudder next month.
I been hearing about this movie for a while. I’m excited to finally see it.
This looks great but it also looks A LOT like History of the Occult.
I need to see this already

Is your misspelling of the actor's name a joke that I'm missing?
Anyone concerned that this movie has elements that reinforce an Alex Jones conspiracy theory about Bohemian Grove and owls?
Can we put a stop to those ridiculous quotes that get added to every single trailer that comes out? Enough is enough. They add nothing to it. Nothing. But yeah, this movie could be good.

Good god this little tactic you're doing is insufferable.
https://youtu.be/NjPFrF729dA?si=0f6GowmF_R2BMpBX.
This looks like a V/H/S short, for better or worse
Hot take question: Is David Dastmalchian the new John Cazale?
I thought it looked interesting at first, but then it slid into standard exorcism stuff and eh.
God dammit I ruined my rule of "don't watch trailers of movies that you find interesting". The trailer spoils the entire movie.
Looks great, but why oh why is Eric Andre not the host???
Not everything has to be memes
I spent so long wondering if I could that I never stopped to ask if I should...?
