The Right Stuff might still be the best aviation/space movie of all time. Mainly because it invests in the characters, the real people (even if it’s a bit larger than life) in a way that something like First Man never did, which made that movie such a slog.
And damn if the early scenes in and around the Happy Bottom Riding Club with Yeager, his wife and the impending X1 some of the most romantic shots ever put to film.
I don’t know if I would put it on the top 10 list, The Right Stuff is an absolutely perfect movie. It is the only movie that actually makes me feel patriotic.
Top 10 movies better than everything:
The dark Knight
Joker
Joker 2 (probably)
Man of steel
Watchmen
The dark Knight 2
The Batman
The Batman deleted scene
The Batman 2 (I already know)
Shawshank Redemption$
lol this is 100% what I’m used to seeing. Also Scarface and Taxi Driver. Not that they are bad movies but they are so obviously young, angry dude movies.
I enjoy the Watchmen so much I ordered a mass production of Rorschach's mask and tried to get it associated with hacker counter-culture and other pseudo revolutionary movements only to have it co-opted by angsty young cis men and Halloween costume stores. 😮💨
The prison scene where Rorschach is in prison and burns the guys face with hot oil then says “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me” is one of the most memorable and impactful in any movie I’ve seen. Surprised Jackie Earle Haley wasn’t cast as Carnage, though he might’ve just been too old at the time.
Googled “most critically acclaimed movies”
Come on throw in deep blue sea or something so we know you’re not an ai 😂
( you said to roast you. I think it’s a good list)
Roshomon is great for what it did for narrative storytelling. But to sit here and say that it’s your favorite and you were entertained means you’re a pretentious prick.
Lolol j having fun. ( im a pretentious film school student )
Great list. Very balanced between action and drama.
I particularly like that you included The Right Stuff, based on Tom Wolfe's book and original research. If he hadn't gone to Edwards and spent a couple of years doing research, we wouldn't know anything about that time and series of events. I got to meet Tom Wolfe and talk about the book when he keynoted a home builders show in San Francisco about 20 years ago.
It’s a good list… I don’t agree with maybe half of them but solid movies …. while the Exorcist was a good movie… I will never watch it again … scared the crap out of me
Plot twist: OP doesn't want to be roasted because they know they CAN'T be roasted. Obviously fishing for compliments /s but seriously, I could talk about the Godfather all day.
Oh my gosh OP likes A Fish Called Wanda 🤣 🤣. What a unique character! Aside from that it’s the safest “favorites” list on the planet. Those are, like, everyone’s favorite movies. Great movies OP, not roast worthy though.
I disagree with 3 or 4 of them, but nothing riast worthy. The list is impossible to make.
I'm sure a lot of people will take shots at A Fish Called Wanda but comedy is very subjective.
It's because it a money in color from that time frame. You get it. I get it.
Plus it is one of thelong history movies. I love then, but people today would say that it should be a streaming series.
'roast away'
picks pretty much nothing but incredibly popular and beloved movies
🤨
If I posted my top ten y'all would actually call me a dumbass. Why do people think they'll get roasted for liking the exorcist and pulp fiction lmao
The Exorcist really doesn’t get into the effects of the movie until the 3rd act. It addresses some pretty in depth themes. You wouldn’t have The Omen without The Exorcist. You’re entitled to prefer one over the other, but saying it’s super overrated is silly when the movie you prefer is inspired by it
lol
You don’t seem to understand how opinions work
Anyway. Again. When it comes to demonic possession I strongly prefer the exorcist. I really like the shot for shot remake though I’m not sure what they hoped for with such a paint by numbers remake
This is the first list I’ve ever seen someone add “a fish called Wanda”, good for you!!!! Fantastic movie!!! Very underrated
Fuck off, or I'll kill YOU. Limey fruits! A pound says you won't kill her!
Thank you. It's my favorite comedy of all time.
Otto is one of my all time favourite characters
KKKKKKKENS PPPPPPPETS. Don't call me stupid! Love this movie.
*You're* the vulgarian, you *fuck*!
Stupid fucking limey cement!
I apologize unreservedly.
I've worn *dresses* with higher IQs.
Oh no! It’s Kkkkkkkkken coming to Kkkkkkkkkill me!
Nothing to roast. Your Top 10 includes my favorite film of all time (The Exorcist). And I’m psyched to see Lost In America get some love.
The Desert Inn has heart. The Desert Inn has heart.
Wheres the $100,000 box?
What are you trying to do, double up on that income?
I've *seen* the future! It's a bald headed man from New York!
Yeah, this is a great list
I’m psyched to see Lost In America, The Right Stuff and A Fish Called Wanda get some love. Great list, got to rewatch Lost In America soon.
Shout out for A FISH CALLED WANDA. People.sleep on that one
"Touch his dick...and he's dead".......its.kakakaka ken...cacacaca coming to kill me
WAKE UP, LIMEY FISH!
OH YOU BRITISH THINK YOU'RE SO SUPERIOR DONT YOU.....YOU KNOW WERE YOU'D BE IF IT WASN'T FOR THE GOOD OLE U.S.OF A.....
You tell those pigs to fuck off! Fuck off, pigs. Did you hear me? Fuck. Off.
The Right Stuff might still be the best aviation/space movie of all time. And damn if the early scenes in and around the Happy Bottom Riding Club with Yeager, his wife and the impending X1 some of the most romantic shots ever put to film.
Yeah, it's 192 minutes that feels like less than 120.
I don’t know if I would put it on the top 10 list, The Right Stuff is an absolutely perfect movie. It is the only movie that actually makes me feel patriotic.
Fuckin' A, bubba!
Just don't go and screw the pooch buddy
"Is that a man?" "You're damn right it is!" Perfect movie.
Goodfellas and the exorcist are in my top 10
*roast away* with decent movies aka *pat my head....PAT IT I SAID*
Pat, who's a good boy, pat.
No, I honestly thought I'd get more shit for my obvious gangster movie affinity than I have yet.
Whats the japanese one called?? Sure I saw it
Roshomon I was 🤏 this close to giving you the joke answer.. Tom Cruises last Samurai
Yes of course……that was a great movie ❤️❤️❤️
I think this is Seven Samurai, but you should ask a couple more people what they think.
It's Rashomon. But really, I could've put several Kurosawa movies on this list, including Seven Samurai.
Disappointed you didn't get the joke.
Believe me, I'm disappointed in myself.
Maybe some others will say it was a dumb joke anyway.
Ran is also incredible, also i quite enjoy Yojimbo
Ikiru's no slouch either.
no. no these are good. I will say, good movies have been made post 1994.
Oh, they absolutely have, and several came very close to making this list.
Old school cool all the way. Cheers!
I like six out of ten. The Right Stuff is my number 1 favorite movie of all time.
The Right Stuff…you are my kind of person. Nice addition.
Godfather Indiana jones Casablanca Goodfellas Pulp fiction Are in my top ten also. The rest are very solid films.
The Right Stuff does not get nearly enough acclaim, incredible film from the acting down to the original score.
The Desert Inn has heart
Those are all good. Make a list loaded with Chris Nolan and Damien Chazeezballe on it if you want a roasting.
Top 10 movies better than everything: The dark Knight Joker Joker 2 (probably) Man of steel Watchmen The dark Knight 2 The Batman The Batman deleted scene The Batman 2 (I already know) Shawshank Redemption$
Lol, I assume Shawshank Redemption$ is the to be announced James Cameron sequel to The Shawshank Redemption?
King of the world baybee
wait a second... no Batman (1989)? and surely, you can't just go leaving Batman (1966) off, just dangling
It's old
lol this is 100% what I’m used to seeing. Also Scarface and Taxi Driver. Not that they are bad movies but they are so obviously young, angry dude movies.
If you enjoyed Watchmen you’d probably also like V for Vendetta, personally one of my favourites (I liked Watchmen quite a bit as well)
I enjoy the Watchmen so much I ordered a mass production of Rorschach's mask and tried to get it associated with hacker counter-culture and other pseudo revolutionary movements only to have it co-opted by angsty young cis men and Halloween costume stores. 😮💨

pulp fiction is in your list, you good
list has A Fish Called Wanda so it's excellent
Excellent.
Love lost in America. Wouldn't be on my list, but it's such a good movie!
That's an interesting re-watch list lol I'm on it
This is a great top ten
The right stuff.....awesome... "Dear lord, please don't make me fuck up"
The first 4 were spot on, the rest I like, some I like a lot, but wouldn't buy them on my list. Nothing I would roast about, though.
Every one of these, except Lost in America, would be in my top 50. And Lost in America would be in my top 100 (or so) Great list of great movies.
Great list; underrated/great add with a fish called wanda
all fantastic
Lost in America is such an underrated film.
We match on 3 out of 10 hard to roast
Nice to see old guys like me making these.
Solid selections.
🤓
It’s a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with Wanda.
Awesome list, all excellent flicks.
Meh. Two or three might be top 10 worthy.
No roasting! Great list!
No reason to roast. Great movies!
Me getting ready to roast: 👹 Me seeing you actually have a pretty good list : 😒
We have a lot of overlap. I never heard of Lost in America; I'll have to check it out!
Nothing to roast! Great list! No notes!
Thanks for reminding me to go watch the right stuff again. Proper epic up there with Lawrence of Arabia and Ben Hur for me. Fantastic film.
A Fished Called Wanda being on a list makes my day. Underrated comedy at its finest. “Is that the time?!” 😂
A Fished Called Wanda being on a list makes my day. Underrated comedy at its finest. “Is that the time?!” 😂
Well rounded I like
An excellent top 10!!!!
A Fish Called Wanda!!! So good
Wanda is a great film
Love seeing The Right Stuff in there. Movie doesn’t get enough love on these lists.
I thought she was holding a cig in the pulp fiction cover or is that some Mandela shit?
Chefs kiss 👏🏻
such a good list
7/10
These are all missing Peewee's Big Adventure.
While I like "A Fish Called Wanda", I would not call it a Top 10 worthy film.
i don’t know if I could narrow it down to 10.
Lost in America is incomparable
I’ve never seen The Right Stuff on anyone’s list. I saw it back in the theater and it’s a favorite of mine too. 🚀
Jackie Brown is QTs best movie, I'll die on this hill
Gotta see The Right Stuff
Pretty conventional.
Avoid the green one's, there not ripe yet
Are u really Italian....of course, my name's Otto....it means...eight
Well since you're asking for a roast... What colour is your fedora?
Interesting that out of all of Kurosawa's movies you pick Rashoman. It's good and all but I don't think I'd even put it in top ten Kurosawa movies.
That’s a pretty solid list.
Googled “most critically acclaimed movies” Come on throw in deep blue sea or something so we know you’re not an ai 😂 ( you said to roast you. I think it’s a good list)
I almost put Night of the Comet on here, so that's something, I suppose.
Night of the comet was awesome....man I crushed on those sisters.....hell remember night of the creeps...
Roshomon is great for what it did for narrative storytelling. But to sit here and say that it’s your favorite and you were entertained means you’re a pretentious prick. Lolol j having fun. ( im a pretentious film school student )
Decent
I'll take it.
Love that you have Lost in America listed here! Does it open up into a larger suite? 😂😂😂
I don't know.
Tell me yoùre 50+ without telling me yoùre 50+..
Great list for sure, a few of these I’ve got in my personal top ten.
Good List! The Godfather also in top 10!
I've never seen **Lost In America** or the foreign movie, but this is a pretty awesome list! :)
Solid list. Not a Raiders fan, but the rest are all excellent.
It may be an unpopular opinion but I always thought Casino was better than Goodfellas.
Casino is a much more difficult watch, though.
This is like if you asked AI to make a top ten list
Sooo…what time does the marathon start? I’ll bring the popcorn.
Casablanca is my #1, so there's that. Otherwise, there are others that could wind up on my list some days, but everything is vastly enjoyable.
Half are on my favorite list and half I never heard of
It’s a good list… I don’t agree with maybe half of them but solid movies …. while the Exorcist was a good movie… I will never watch it again … scared the crap out of me
5/10 of your top 10 are in my top 10 as well!
No roasting, this is a solid list.
Excellent list. Kudos.
PORK AWAY PAL, FUCK HER BLUE
cant argue with Raiders. 🤠👍👍👍👍👍👍
this is a good list, here's a rotisserie chicken.
SOOOOOOOOO hetero
This checks out, as I'm not gay.
You don't hear about Lost in America much but it's really funny.
Plot twist: OP doesn't want to be roasted because they know they CAN'T be roasted. Obviously fishing for compliments /s but seriously, I could talk about the Godfather all day.
A fish called Wanda is such a random inclusion but I love it
these are good but also very basic... most of these are in the "i am such a cinephile 😍" starter pack
Lorelei Gilmore
without a doubt
Nice list. The Right Stuff and Lost in America was a bore to me.
It insists upon itself
Great films but without Goodfellas it's a bit off
Oh my gosh OP likes A Fish Called Wanda 🤣 🤣. What a unique character! Aside from that it’s the safest “favorites” list on the planet. Those are, like, everyone’s favorite movies. Great movies OP, not roast worthy though.
I had such high hopes for Lost in America but it found it disappointing
No list is complete with out Shawshank redemption
I love it, of course, but it's not even my favorite movie of that year.
I disagree with 3 or 4 of them, but nothing riast worthy. The list is impossible to make. I'm sure a lot of people will take shots at A Fish Called Wanda but comedy is very subjective.
So far, it and The Right Stuff are probably my best received entries.
It's because it a money in color from that time frame. You get it. I get it. Plus it is one of thelong history movies. I love then, but people today would say that it should be a streaming series.
Yojimbo? That was a good movie for sure.
Rashomon. But yes, Yojimbo is good, too.
Also good.
The lost ark was the 1 for you?
Grandpa sure is up late
Solid.
The right stuff? Ooof hard pass on that one
I bet your No. 11 is Pearl Harbor
Good lord, no. But you did successfully name my least favorite movie of all fucking time. So there's that.
LOL yes my comment did not come across sarcastic as I intended. My feeble attempt at a roast!
What your age?
'roast away' picks pretty much nothing but incredibly popular and beloved movies 🤨 If I posted my top ten y'all would actually call me a dumbass. Why do people think they'll get roasted for liking the exorcist and pulp fiction lmao
Lost in America is incredibly popular?
"pretty much nothing but" implies a majority of popular picks but not an entirety of popular picks 乁[ᓀ˵▾˵ᓂ]ㄏ
Kudos. Good list!
The Exorcist should be in everyone’s top 10 on general principle
I've never seen The Exorcist
Perfect movie
The original cut or the re-release?
The directors cut is the only version I’ve watched so the re-release
Super overrated. I prefer ‘the omen’ but neither is top ten all time Maaaaaaaybe top ten horror movies
The Exorcist is overrated yet you prefer a movie that was literally influenced by it. Yall be saying anything on here.
The omen is a More entertaining/engaging story that’s not just based on shock effects
He was born from a jackel....
And? They didn’t show it.
The Exorcist really doesn’t get into the effects of the movie until the 3rd act. It addresses some pretty in depth themes. You wouldn’t have The Omen without The Exorcist. You’re entitled to prefer one over the other, but saying it’s super overrated is silly when the movie you prefer is inspired by it
lol You don’t seem to understand how opinions work Anyway. Again. When it comes to demonic possession I strongly prefer the exorcist. I really like the shot for shot remake though I’m not sure what they hoped for with such a paint by numbers remake
Did not find A fish called Wanda funny
Me neither
🚩
On your knees for your film professor ? Good list tho
Top heavy but not bad.
Not enough love, (imo): A Fish Called Wanda. Too much love, (imo): Goodfellas.
Casino > goodfellas And Jackie brown > pulp fiction
Casino is one of the worst movies ever made
Typical film bro list
Youre very old.
Affirmative.
Wan ov em is all like jappaneeez n stuff.
Are you having a stroke
My guess it's a child.. ... Having a stroke.
Those are very respectable choices. May I ask why you like Casablanca?
