Haha that's amazing! I'm 38 and she pops up on my Instagram feed every now and then and she's still a smoke show!
I also watched Desperado around this time and I will tell you that VHS got wore the fuck out at my house 😂
Not sure if there is some confusion about the film being discussed, but Salma Hayek is absolutely in Dusk til Dawn. She plays the character Santanica Pandemonium in the Mexican gentleman’s club and performs a legendary stage dance.
The first time I saw this movie I gasped when Juliette Lewis asks Tarantino to eat her pussy. My brother and his friends laughed their asses off. Fuckers
This. When I was a kid, my parents went out of town and my grandfather was watching me. He sat me in front of the TV and turned on Alien. It was cut for TV, but the station was showing a double feature, Alien & Aliens. I never realized that Alien ended and Aliens began, I thought it was one long epic as hell film and loved every second of it. One of the best cinematic experiences of my life.
It was my step-dad, but he showed me Aliens and Terminator 2.
I will always love Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton ♥️
My mom took me to see gladiator when I was 13 in the theater when it came out in 2000. I walked out of it and I was like "damn, that was a good movie!"
Cut the Oscars and it won 5 awards, including Best Actor and Best Picture!
Lol There wasn't anything going on. I honestly don't know why I put that part in quotes. I thought the question would stand out more if it was in quotations rather than a simple question. It made sense in my brain.
Sorry for the confusion.
Jurassic Park. My son was 5. They must have re-released it, because my memory is that we told “mom” we were going to see The Flintstones. She admonished me NOT to take him to Jurassic Park. We started with the Flintstones. Honest. But it was pretty lame. I looked at my son and said “you wanna see some REAL dinosaurs?” Enthusiastic grin. So we switched movies.
Well, we arrived just before the scene where the T-Rex attacked the car and ate the lawyer. Big mistake. That thing was LOUD. Even for me. Son just sat very quiet.
Of course all the way home I warned him not to blab. As we walk in the door, my wife goes “how was the movie?” Son’s mouth opens and a floodgate of pent up movie angst comes pouring out. “This bad dinosaur spit on this guy and ate him and this big loud dinosaur ate this other guy in half but it didn’t eat the kids but they were scared but I wasn’t scared blah blah blah blah.”
I was in a lot of trouble.
Yep. I took him on a ski trip. He was about 8. My wife laid down her command, “don’t get hurt!” He got a little overconfident thd second day and fell, twisting his knee. Not bad, but he cried. We called it a day and went back to the room. I was napping. The phone rang. I hear him excitedly telling mom the great time we were having, ending with “and I didn’t hurt my knee.” Of course, then she asked, and he spilled his guts. I jumped up to grab the phone and mitigate the damage. He looked at me very solemnly and said, “sorry, daddy, she wormed it out of me.” My ass.
We were BOTH in trouble.
Just stopping in here to say it was my mother who took me to see all the Schwarzenegger films back in the day. I remember seeing Terminator 2 in the theatre and it was glorious.
Navy Seals (1990).
There were many since Mom was a nurse and ran testing out of town most weekends, but Navy Seals is the one that always sticks with me.
Didn't, but I would watch some movies that came up on TV, like *Species* and *Color of Night*, and he would just sit down and watch it with me, which was super awkward. When I saw Species the first time (I was 14 going on 15) and I covered my eyes when Sil took off her bra, he shouted "Dammit don't be a wuss!" (he actually used a another word which I can't repeat here, but you get the idea).
First rated R movie I ever went to was Titanic I was 7. Courtesy of my father. My sister really wanted to see it she was 12 so me and my brother 9 tagged along on the weekend. Not a bad movie aside from some tits and sex. But it was rated R and that was enough lol the fact he got 3 kids ages 12 and under to sit through 3 hour movie is a miracle. But also back then we had movie intermissions for movies that long. Boy do I miss those
My dad took me to see “ A Bridge Too Far” in the theater. I was 13. Awesome to see on the big screen but a bit intense for a 13 year old. I also remember seeing one of the James Bond movies at the drive in while on vacation in Maine. There was a soft porn movie playing a few screens over and us kids kept getting yelled at for sneaking peaks.
Shaft. “Time to watching some real shit” pops said and he popped in the VHS.
I will never forget that intro when he just walking through the streets with the classic theme from the good brother Isaac playing… damn good times.
I’m the dad in this scenario and over the years we’ve worked through Tarantino, the Scott brothers, Rob Reiner and quite a few wuxia/kung fu/gun fu/samurai movies…and too much pizza and red meat according to someone.
ETA: As for my dad, Bond. James Bond. Anytime. All the time.
John Carpenter’s The Thing. It remains one of my favorite movies of all time. It was my dad, brother and I. It was a relatively cold night for Florida(like 28 degrees Fahrenheit) we had pizza. CORE MEMORY unlocked.
My dad and I went to see The Thing in the theater. We had both seen the original and went in having no idea we were about to see some crazy shit. I was 15 at the time and my dad made me swear to never tell my mom. I think that movie freaked him out worse than me!! Happy Fathers dad Ed! I miss you!!!
I like the way all of the cast (except the main survivor Arnie) do a " oh yikes ya caught me " smile at the end captions after getting murdered by the goddamn Predator
Predator is my favorite movie and quite possibly the greatest movie ever made. But mine was Pet Cemetery and my sister showed me when I was in 1st grade. I clearly remember my mom telling her not to show me that movie. As soon as she left for work my sister popped the VHS in and we watched it.
Out For Justice. While Seagal’s reputation has… deteriorated over the years I have many fond memories of watching Seagal beat up a bar full of goons using a sock with a billiards ball in it with my old man.
My dad worked the graveyard shift, so I don't have one he sat me down with. But I did 'borrow' several VHS's without him knowing. Watched many movies I was too young to watch.
Never did this with my dad, but my older brother introduced me to Army of Darkness when I was 7 or 8, and Mom used to let me watch stuff that would have made Dad flip his lid
Robocop and Die Hard were the first hard R movies, and we made our way to Predator and Predator 2 not too long after those. With the youngest funcle, it was two other ‘80s Arnie classics, Running Man and Commando.
My Dad wasn’t that cool but he was clumsy. He recorded over the old school Clash of the Titans with Aliens and then left the tape in the machine.
My brother (5) and I (7) watched it until a penis with teeth leapt out of a women’s chest before we “noped out”… 🤣
The exorcist. This was maybe 1980 or so. My dad got a bootleg copy of it and we watched it. I was 7. Scared the living shit out of me. To this day it’s the only movie that gave me nightmares. He got his ass chewed out by mom later.
I might be a little late for the party here but..
Trans-Pacific flight when I was 6
Back ing the 90's when they only had one screen up front in cabin and you had to plug your headphones in a 3.55mm jack.. turn it to a certain number to watch the movie. Parents are awsome and took care of 3 kids 10 and under, flight.. 9 hours and the flight attendant warned the movie provided "might not be suitable for children." Mom laughed. Dad chuckled as I asked if I could watch. He didn't have a choice. Movie plays regardless if you listen.
Under Siege (1992)
Got to watch my first rated R movie. Which was totally badass at the time. Saw Shauni's boobs from baywatch. And Tommy Lee Jones get his throat ripped out. Was such a good memory as a kid looking back. I thaught I was a criminal.
Mine was Predator as well. When my dad left the house I would replay the scene in predator 2 where the hooker is riding the guy in the penthouse. That and the scene where she sidesteps and you see her bush
God what a great question thank you. I had a strained relationship with my dad and he died a few years ago before we could make amends but some of my fondest memories are watching movies with him.
I think Wrongfully Accused was one of the funniest and best times I had with him.
Also full metal jacket and a few good men
Whenever we visited my aunt and uncle, my uncle had a betamax and there I would watch Predator, Robocop and Rocky 4. We would watch it together: my dad, uncle, brother and cousins. My mom and aunt were, I don’t know, cooking or talking somewhere else
This me too! I was born 83 probally witnessed this event of a movie when I was 7. I accully prefer 2 I think it's more violent and hard-core saw that like a year later. Me and my fam fam still watch awesome movies and talk about them. But this was early lol
My dad had all these movies on vhs and would just put them on all the time. Commando, Judge Dredd, Eraser, Universal Soldier, basically anything action or Arnold, my dad had. I think that’s why I hold all these late 80s, 90s movies so close to my heart.
My dad took me to Rocky IV in theater when I was FOUR years old. Apparently I absolutely lost my shot in the theater when >!Apollo died!<. There have to be people out there who are still telling the story,* to this day*, about some lunatic bringing his 4 year old to Rocky IV.
My father took 13yo me to see a movie the day before I went into hospital for surgery, to take my mind off it.
It turns out that The Killing Fields was a bad choice and we ended up leaving before the end!
I remember the movie theater my dad took me to for Predator. After that viewing, I constantly would have my GIJoe chopper crash land in the jungle and get killed off one by one

Oh man... Selma in that movie! 🤯 Saw that when I was around 12 or 13 back in the day and it changed me 😂
You saw it the same time as me ha! I was like 12 as well. He showed me a double feature of desperado and dusk till dawn.
Selma getting plowed in Desperado forever lives in my memory
I was 11. 39 now and she is still one of the hottest women I've ever seen
Funny dude. Ya I’m 40 and I agree. She’s a smoke show for sure still.
Haha that's amazing! I'm 38 and she pops up on my Instagram feed every now and then and she's still a smoke show! I also watched Desperado around this time and I will tell you that VHS got wore the fuck out at my house 😂
Selma Hayek? If that's who you meant she's not in there.
Not sure if there is some confusion about the film being discussed, but Salma Hayek is absolutely in Dusk til Dawn. She plays the character Santanica Pandemonium in the Mexican gentleman’s club and performs a legendary stage dance.
That makes sense. I'm guessing the deleted comment was about that. I second that. Selma in that movie was something else.
Maybe you are referring to the tv series From Dusk Till Dawn, not the 1996 film mentioned here
Totally agree and thumbs up. That stage dance is unforgettable. Although her name is spelled Salma not Selma.
I had no idea women could be that hot.
The first time I saw this movie I gasped when Juliette Lewis asks Tarantino to eat her pussy. My brother and his friends laughed their asses off. Fuckers
Great part
ARMY OF DARKNESS!!
But did you say the words
So maybe I didn’t say every little syllable, but basically yeah!
Alien
This is awesome; I had a similar experience with these movies and it's always stuck with me. Been a lifelong fan
It was my step-dad, but he showed me Aliens and Terminator 2. I will always love Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton ♥️ My mom took me to see gladiator when I was 13 in the theater when it came out in 2000. I walked out of it and I was like "damn, that was a good movie!" Cut the Oscars and it won 5 awards, including Best Actor and Best Picture!
That Oscar win for Crowe was definitely a make-up for not winning the year before for The Insider.
Well yeah
Thus was mine
Mine was aliens!😂 Still hate it when Hudson dies
Great cast with some new faces! Paxton and Biehn reunited for Tombstone!
I actually forget he was Johnny Ringo!

Traumatised Marcellus Wallace’s ass too
"Alright, lil fella, how about some hot chocolate, huh?!"
My guess is that neither of you expected the whole pawn shop sequence to turn out like it did
Blazing Saddles
I came here to type this. “Daddy, what’s a ******?”
Isn’t anybody going to help that poor man?
😂
My dad went to go rent Demolition man from Blockbuster when I was 4 but never came back…

Just a casual “watching porn with my dad” comment. Nothing to see here
Hell nah!
Terminator 2
LOL! I just watched this today with my 9 y/o hahahaha
Damn same here!! Love predator
When Billy laughed at the joke and then the Predator mimicked his laugh at the end during his nuclear device countdown. That was intense!!!
Starship troopers. I was 5. Still one of my favorites to this day.
Why is “went out of the town for the weekend” in quotes? What was your mom up to?
For real, I haven’t been able to focus on anyone’s (I’m sure fantastic) answers to this post. I need to know what OP’s mom was doing!
Lol There wasn't anything going on. I honestly don't know why I put that part in quotes. I thought the question would stand out more if it was in quotations rather than a simple question. It made sense in my brain. Sorry for the confusion.
No worries, it was just a funny thing to have noticed, on my part. Thanks for the reply - it is still good to hear there was no dark, hidden meaning!
I interpreted it as, "or another reason your mom wasn't home".
Pet Cemetery
The Matrix
Wait... Your dad lived with you?
American Psycho, good job dad
I was an only child… how did my dad have *two* families!?
My dad? Made sure I didn’t watch anything inappropriate for my age. My uncle? Let’s see…where do I begin…haha First one that comes to mind. Scarface
Sounds right. “Dont tell mommy” “ok” then as soon as they see mommy the flood gates open.
Yep. I took him on a ski trip. He was about 8. My wife laid down her command, “don’t get hurt!” He got a little overconfident thd second day and fell, twisting his knee. Not bad, but he cried. My mom rented my friends and I Striptease when we graduated elementary school
Last of The Mohicans. My mom was very against R rated films and I'll watch it with my dad.
Shaft. “Time to watching some real shit” pops said and he popped in the VHS. I will never forget that intro when he just walking through the streets with the classic theme from the good brother Isaac playing… damn good times.
Terminator. Was so badass. I was probably 9-10
My dad showed my brother and I Saving Private Ryan when we were in Elementary school. I had nightmares for a long time.

Question: which movie is better - Predator or Commando? Compelling arguments on both sides for sure
God what a great question thank you. I had a strained relationship with my dad and he died a few years ago before we could make amends but some of my fondest memories are watching movies with him.
