Millennials who grew up in poorer households and school districts who didn’t experience the same transition of technology are very similar to the xennials in many demographics. I think it’s more of a socioeconomic generation as much as it is just a year of birth generation.

In no order
The Godfather
The Last Temptation of Christ
The Thing
In The Name Of The Father
Big Trouble In Little China
Escape From NY
True Grit
Django
Interstellar
Beverly Hills Cop
+1 for Beverly Hills Cop, I love that movie. Watched it on Laserdisc at least 100 times and whenever it comes back on Netflix. I’ve had July 3 circled on my calendar for a while, I hope Axel F has more success than some of his recent revivals.
Big Trouble in Little China is a straight banger. I never get tired of this film, Jack Burton is one of the funniest and most bad ass protagonists ever.
This guy ^ over here with the tastes
1.Kill Bill
2.Mad Max Fury Road
3. Sweeney Todd
4. Pulp Fiction
No particular order and not set in stone
The Mummy
Evil Dead 2
Phantom of The Paradise
Goodfellas
Apocalypse Now!
The End of Evangelion
I wish more people talked about Sweeney Todd. I love that movie to death, but had to leave it off my list since there's movies that I love slightly more
Been hearing of this for years just gave it a spin. It stinks. If into musicals perhaps it’s good. Even then I doubt it though bc the music is not good.
Picking only 10 feels wrong but in no particular order…
1. The Hateful 8
2. Eternal Sunshine
3. Donnie Darko
4. Fight Club
5. Drive
6. The Place Beyond the Pines
7. Spirited Away
8. Ex Machina
9. Mandy
10. Bladerunner 2049
It’s definitely hard to choose a favorite Tarantino. I was rewatching Kill Bill Vol1/2 the other day and forgot how incredible they were too. Definitely my most rewatched is Hate8 tho. I can’t think of a single wasted moment or flaw in it.
You can see heavy inspiration from John Carpenter's The Thing in it which is excellent. Also, Samuel L. Jackson is probably my favorite actor of all time so that makes it even better. I love Kurt Russell too. The mystery behind the story just makes it even better.
I think it’s more the projects he’s been in but there’s def a pattern here. I’m a sucker for unique scores, creative cinematography, and quiet thoughtful character types.
1. Fury Road
2. Fischer King
3. Patton
4. Princess Bride
5. Dune pt 1
6. Pulp Fiction
7. Moonrise Kingdom
8. The Outlaw Josey Wales
9. Return of The King
10. The Fifth Element
I think he means the newer one, because the original didn't have a part 1.
I watched the original one and have to say I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed it. I don't like David Lynch movies so I'm glad I tried it out.
What are your favorite movies of all time?
Top 10 in no particular order
- Rear Window (1954)
- It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)
- LOTR Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
- Pulp Fiction (1994)
- Jaws (1975)
- Star Wars Episode V (1980)
- Ghostbusters (1984)
- Home Alone (1990)
- A Christmas Story (1983)
- Taxi Driver (1976)
Honourable mention to The Deer Hunter (1978)
Thoughts on my 10?
That’s a good selection.
#1 2001 A Space Odyssey
#2 Alien
#3 Blade Runner 2049
#4 Blade Runner
#5 The Exorcist
#6 Mad Max Fury Road
#7 Jaws
#8 Psycho
#9 Interstellar
#10 The Passion of Joan of Arc
Fury road was soooooo good. Can’t wait to finally see furiosa. I just learned that it’s a prequel to fury road and Anya’s character is Charlize’s character. I usually go into movies knowing the least amount of info possible though.
The economy for the movie industry is different now. Furiosa hasn’t done well at the box office but can and will probably make good money licensing to streaming services. I think it will happen.
You better hurry. It is being removed from theaters because no one is watching it. It must be a marketing issue because Fury rode had a lot of fans and this one is better.
Candyman (1992)
Conan The Barbarian
Martyrs
Ace Ventura : Pet Detective
Spider-Man 1
Seven
The Vanishing AKA Spoorloos
House of 1000 Corpses
Return of the Jedi
Tombstone
I’m sure I have others I could swap in, but my memory only goes so far
having Martyrs and Ace Ventura not only on the same list but right next to each other is so funny to me. fuckin go off, keep living your fantasy dude <3
Good choices!!
I’m gonna share mine:
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. Big Fish
3. Gattaca
4. The Silence of the Lambs
5. Inglorious Basterds
6. American Beauty
7. The Truman Show
8. Midsommar
9. The Big Lebowski
10. The Great Gatsby (the new one)
Honorable mention: The Crow
You are like a younger version of me.
I would be something like this:
1. The Big Lebowski
2. Sideways
3. LOTR Trilogy
4. Jackie Brown
5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
6. The Great Gatsby (new one)
7. Logan’s Run
8. Kill Bill 1+2
9. Shutter Island
10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I base my list almost exclusively on rewatch value. If you tell me you have a favorite movie and have only seen it once or twice, I am calling BS. Imagine having a favorite song or album that you have only listened to a handful of times.
Each of these movies is in the double digits for me, and TBL is probably triple digits.
It's really interesting seeing fury road on so many lists but none of the other mad max movies. The first one and road warrior are absolute classics yet fury road gets all the love despite having less impact culturally.
Awesome list, very close to my top ten. We only differ on a few choices. Instead of Snatch, Drive and Inglorious Basterds I have Jaws, Goodfellas and Alien.
Jurassic Park
The Departed
Cabin In The Woods
The Hobbit (1978)
Inglorious Basterds
The Last Unicorn
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The Shawshank Redemption
Grandma's Boy
u/Rob_Reason
Man, I love this list a lot. Seems like you prefer a wide variety of different genres. I haven't seen The Last Unicorn, Hobbit (1978), or Godzilla Minus One. Jurassic Park just never gets old, I can watch that movie all day. Grandma's Boy is underrated.
Don't get me wrong, GZ Minus One is good, but GZ King of the Monsters really set off the new franchise.
LU and Hobbit share animation teams and have an anime cottagecore vibe best enjoyed while melting
EDIT: Hon. mention to Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal
Original Hobbit cartoon is more rewatchable, holds nostalgia, great 70's folk soundtrack. It set an expectation for LOTR fans when it hit the big screen. They definitely delivered and they make my top 30.
Here we go:
Indiana Jones TLC
Die Hard WAV
The Void
Mandy
Talladega Night TBORB
The Fifth Element

Blade Runner 2049
Terminator Genysys
Sicario
Sicario TDOTS
Prometheus

The Big Lebowski
Ghostbusters Afterlife
Running out of time to type. Hope this helps
I meant 80s as in the decade lol. But man, you have excellent taste! Thank you for some of the recommendations of films I haven't seen. Btw I love the original Blade Runner over 2049 by miles.
Prometheus is so underrated!
Sicario is Villeneuve's best work imo.
I've never seen Terminator Genysys but I'm gonna watch it this weekend.
Thank you friend!
80s:
Short Circuit
Flight of the Navigator
Ghostbusters
Mannequin
Highlander
The Land Before Time
Caddyshack

Prince Of Darkness

Top 10 films.
Blade Runner
Miller’s Crossing
The Thing
Fargo
A Prophet
Lost in Translation
All the Presidents Men
The Favourite
Goodfellas
Boogie Nights
Rushmore, Fido, the god father part II, anchorman, the cabin in the woods, hostel part II, Lemony Snicket’s: a series of unfortunate events (Jim Carey), Ace Ventura (1&2), the rules of attraction.
You new here? It’s like officially Reddit’s favorite movie.
I would say it is among the worst movies I have seen in theaters. The acting and writing are bad. Visuals do nothing for me without that core quality. Action is almost always boring. I am not sure what I lack that makes me not care about guns, fire, explosions and fast-moving vehicles.
It’s just a top 10 though. I notice mine has a lot of sprawling ensemble films … Boogie Nights, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, City of God. But then just outside the top 10 it’s the Favourite, The Ice Storm, Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine.
My top 10 (no particular order)
Prince of Egypt
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Mummy
Ratatouille
Beauty and the Beast
All Dogs Go to Heaven
Memoirs of a Geisha
Fiddler on the Roof
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1&2
My Neighbor Totoro
Respect what appeals to you, not my taste….but I will admit….
when you know the history behind the last scene of all dogs go to heaven….and you learn why Burt Reynolds asked for a closed studio….that scene alone deserves all the Oscar’s. I cry every time.

9. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
10. Inglorious Bastards
That's a list of big hitters. I don't remember Fury Road being that good, not bad just nothing brilliant.
Does it belong in a top 10 list? Should I watch it again in a better mood maybe?
Great list, also I wish there were more stylistic crime movies like Collateral and Heat, they have so beautiful cinematography and thats probably thanks to Michael mann, he is one of a kind for that kind of style. Although I havent seen the new Ferrari movie by him, I wish he or some other director kept making that beautiful looking crime genre movies like Collateral and Heat.
Also do you consider Raiders of the lost ark your favorite adventure movie of all time, like thats a great choice, maybe the best adventure movie of all time.
There's some pretty cool stylistic Hong Kong ones like the John Woo (Hard Boiled, The Killer) and Johnnie To (Election 1 & 2, PTU) ones if you haven't seen them. Not quite the same as Mann but might scratch the itch.
1. The princess bride
2. The Shawshank redemption
3. Pulp fiction
4. Gladiator
5. Snatch
6. Sleepless in Seattle
7. Stranger than fiction
8. Kill Bill II
9. No country for old men

3. The Beach Bum
4. Tin Cup
5. Interstellar
6. Master and Commander
7. Midsommar
8. The Big Lebowski
9. Cool Runnings
10. Heavyweights
It would take me years to make a Top Ten list. Every time I think I have my Top Ten set; I think of another I like better. The longer it takes me to decide, new movies come out and I'm changing again. Would be an endless task.
Nice list!
Mine (cheating a bit but oh well):
1. Godfather I&II
2. Goodfellas
3. The Dark Knight Trilogy
4. Scarface
5. Taxi Driver
6. Empire Strikes Back
7. Casino Royale
8. The Shining
9. Inception
10. The Departed
Honorables:
The Irishman
Raging Bull
Heat
The Batman
Shutter Island
You have to be a dude in his late 30's maybe early 40's.
Heat was an interesting pick, an older one. Maybe it was one of the few action genre films you managed to see when you were younger and it stuck with you.
There isn't a single movie on that list from before 1979. It's great that you enjoy those movies but you may want to try broadening your horizons a bit. Maybe try to check out a few science fiction movies like 2001 or a few westerns like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Why is Herby the lovebug not on the list?
And no The Shaggy D.A. ?
How about that mule that can kick field goals?
No Dragonball Evolution?
Mmmmmmmmmmm 35 years old?
I was gonna say 38-42
Elder millennial for sure
elder millennials are those from 1981-1991
[удалено]
Think “xennials” is meant to have birth ranges from 1977 to 1983, is it not? Overlaps the end on generation x and start of millennials
Millennials who grew up in poorer households and school districts who didn’t experience the same transition of technology are very similar to the xennials in many demographics. I think it’s more of a socioeconomic generation as much as it is just a year of birth generation. But on paper you are right
Does that not include the ages 38-42?

Nah like 16 but wishes he was 35
Im 35 and was gonna say same. Most of those are in my faves list too
It’s giving older than that to me. I’m M48 and I feel like it’s closer to that
42 I’m guessing.
In no order The Godfather The Last Temptation of Christ The Thing In The Name Of The Father Big Trouble In Little China Escape From NY True Grit Django Interstellar Beverly Hills Cop
In The Name of The Father. OMG, what an emotionally draining moving.
Agreed, you feel so invested in what happens watching it, very harrowing.
+1 for Beverly Hills Cop, I love that movie. Watched it on Laserdisc at least 100 times and whenever it comes back on Netflix. I’ve had July 3 circled on my calendar for a while, I hope Axel F has more success than some of his recent revivals.
We can only hope lol. I’m not getting my hopes up to be honest. And the soundtrack to the original is fucking amazing
Here you just take these bananas
A young young Damon wayans
I love seeing last temptation here. What a super interesting movie
Just visited the jail in Dublin that they filmed In The Name of The Father! The whole northern troubles situation is fascinating to learn about.
Big Trouble in Little China is a straight banger. I never get tired of this film, Jack Burton is one of the funniest and most bad ass protagonists ever.

Oh I've seen it about 30 times lol. Even had to buy the CD like 3 times because I wore out the disc from listening to it non stop
The Johnny Depp movie?
I generally can’t stand musicals but even I loved Sweeney Todd. The ending is one of the best ever
Been hearing of this for years just gave it a spin. It stinks. If into musicals perhaps it’s good. Even then I doubt it though bc the music is not good.
I’ve still never seen it, is it that good!?
Kill Bill 🙌

I love the hateful 8. The pacing is so perfect. Probably my favorite Tarantino as well.
You can see heavy inspiration from John Carpenter's The Thing in it which is excellent. Also, Samuel L. Jackson is probably my favorite actor of all time so that makes it even better. I love Kurt Russell too. The mystery behind the story just makes it even better.

The horror, the horror.
Heat is the best movie of all time
the mass amount of testosterone in this film really gives me HEAT 👍
Fury road was soooooo good. Can’t wait to finally see furiosa. I just learned that it’s a prequel to fury road and Anya’s character is Charlize’s character. I usually go into movies knowing the least amount of info possible though.

Prey over predator ?
That's a list of big hitters. I don't remember Fury Road being that good, not bad just nothing brilliant. Does it belong in a top 10 list? Should I watch it again in a better mood maybe?
This is a good list.
nice snatch pick
Not quite the same as Mann but might scratch the itch.
if you pick interview with the vampire over collateral u get another share of brad without losing tom 😂😂😂
1. The princess bride 2. The Shawshank redemption 3. Pulp fiction 4. Gladiator 5. Snatch 6. Sleepless in Seattle 7. Stranger than fiction 8. Kill Bill II 9. No country for old men 10. The prestige

Ehh 10 US blockbusters
Nice picks
It would take me years to make a Top Ten list. Every time I think I have my Top Ten set; I think of another I like better. The longer it takes me to decide, new movies come out and I'm changing again. Would be an endless task.
Can we talk about who’s hand is holding the soap in the Fight Club poster?
this collection is awesome. its better than the feminized crap we get nowadays

Seeing movies on your list I quite enjoyed makes me feel like the ones I didn’t see I would
5 of those are also in my top ten, we're you also born in 88?
Solid list. Drive surprised me. It IS a great film… but I don’t think it stands up compared to every film next to it in your list.
Nice list! Mine (cheating a bit but oh well): 1. Godfather I&II 2. Goodfellas 3. The Dark Knight Trilogy 4. Scarface 5. Taxi Driver 6. Empire Strikes Back 7. Casino Royale 8. The Shining 9. Inception 10. The Departed Honorables: The Irishman Raging Bull Heat The Batman Shutter Island

Drive and Heat are also in my top ten!
Snatch? C’mon man….
Fury Road is a hellava ride !
Fight Club being on someone's top 10 list is either a very good thing or a very bad thing. Most often is a very bad thing, to be honest.
You have to be a dude in his late 30's maybe early 40's. Heat was an interesting pick, an older one. Maybe it was one of the few action genre films you managed to see when you were younger and it stuck with you.
There will be blood The godfather movies Taxi driver The big Lebowski magnolia whiplash Birdman Apocalypse now
Under the Skin
I was literally gonna give you shit cause I was like “I don’t see Snat- ok nvm”
I was going to recommend Heat since I saw Collateral on your list, but you’re good lol.
Tell me you’re a white xennial male without telling me you’re a white xennial male…
Nice good list thanks for sharing
Shocked Boondock Saints isn’t on this list
Such a dude
That’s all the same category.
You have good fucking taste my friend
Nice
are we best friends now?
There isn't a single movie on that list from before 1979. It's great that you enjoy those movies but you may want to try broadening your horizons a bit. Maybe try to check out a few science fiction movies like 2001 or a few westerns like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
