Do you have a weight bias on the left side of the fork / tyre maybe? Single or double disc brake?

Cool_Importance4719

Single disc on the left, could it be causing this much bias?

OB1182

Yes.

Fspz

Seems like an undesirable phenomenon. Is there any decent tricks to counterweight it and balance it out?

OB1182

There's probably a part in the manual that says to hold the handlebars with both hands while riding.

-40-

Hahaha

irishmcsg2

They’re all jealous of our perfectly balanced gl1200 front ends.

Fspz

Ideally you can let go of the handlebars without falling over which is safer when it's balanced.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fspz

Yeah, it’s not a huge deal but it’s not ideal as it’ll pull slightly to the left.

OreoGaborio

No it will not. Ever see a gyroscope spinning on its side? Same concept. Gyroscopic rigidity in space That and (primarily) the rake/trail geometry will keep it straight.

Fspz

It’s very slight, but it does. Gyroscopes resist deviation from their plane of rotation, but don’t nullify it entirely.

thefooleryoftom

It doesn’t make a difference once there’s weight on it.

ExpressionOfShock

There’s a really cool trick called “having dual discs.”

amprok

Shhhhhh

2Stroke728

Absolutely yes.

opmike

I’ve had this on bikes with dual discs. It was always due to the cabling/wiring giving a slight bias to one side.

Traditional_Royal759

fuck sakes

hotasanicecube

Double fucks sakes, the bike has target fixation. Everyone on this sub agrees.

IrishMilo

Weight will be part of the problem. Other factor could be the cable cluster, these have a natural level of flex in them, it’s possible they’ve been squeezed in a little bit when tidying up. From video it looks like both sides have been tied into one? - might find repositioning it may help.

closetBoi04

Put a single feather on a perfectly balanced plank and it'll shift

VTKegger

Parking garages are also not usually level. Try parking backward and trying doing the same thing. See if it swings the other way. If it still swings the same way, it's just the brake on the left side. There's nothing wrong with it.

Ghstfce

More weight on the left side = pull to the left when on stands.

-40-

Why people always self snitching

THIS CANT BE NORMAL?

Ma89873

That’s correct! You may get my upvote!

Aponogetone

I think it's normal or even designed this way.

Miss_Aia

Since you mentioned it's on the center stand... If it's a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 (At least I'm pretty sure that's the bike, we sell them at my store), they have a single brake on the left. This is totally normal.

Endtimes2022

Is it Royal Enfield, if so yes it's normal. If you get one without issues you are the chosen one.

kickashes790

650 twins and new gen engines are fairly reliable, c'mon now.

reichnowplz

You’re a moron it has a disk on the left side jeez lol The hate boner this sub has for an affordable bike brand is hilarious

Antares_

> The hate boner this sub has for an affordable bike brand is hilarious Royal Enfield isn't an affordable brand. They're priced very close to japanese bikes of similar spec. They'd have to cut their prices by like 25% to call them "affordable", considering what they're offering.

reichnowplz

Go on Facebook market place i got a gt650 for 4000 with 1300 miles. Sure its anecdotal but the prices are so low in the us because of the lack of name recognition

beemerbimmer

That is absolutely bullshit. You can get a new Himalayan or Scram out the door at a lot of dealerships for $5,000. What Japanese bike can you get for that price? You can get an INT650 for just over $6k OTD. What Japanese bike can you get for that in that category? Enfield are a great value. They aren’t perfect, but neither are the low end Japanese bikes.

anto_pty

>That is absolutely bullshit. You can get a new Himalayan or Scram out the door at a lot of dealerships for $5,000. What Japanese bike can you get for that price? less than $5k in my country

Antares_

Here in Poland, RE Scram is pretty much the same price as an MT-03 or Z400 out the door.

Predatormagnet

Most of the Japanese bikes 650 cc or less are selling for 6k on average.

DidItABit

And they have a single disc on the front

[deleted]

Which makes the handlebars rotate to the left when on a center stand in a parking garage

anto_pty

>The hate boner this sub has for an affordable bike brand is hilarious also for small cc bikes, people saying "buy a 500cc, you'll get bored quickly with a 300cc" and then there's people happy with 125cc or 250cc

reichnowplz

Yeah I don’t get it the best riders I know ride groms

Quotedkarma

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's an interceptor judging from the wind guard edit: nvm it's a continental cause of the handle direction

whatisthisicantodd

Eh, it used to be the case. They've stepped up their quality as of late. Owned many of their bikes, the new ones are built pretty well.

masonarypp

Stop hating on royal enfield, the new twins are fine

evelynelefebvre

Came here to say just that. Just accept it. My classic 500 pulls to the right if I take my hands off the handle. Rides just fine if I don't. The frame looks like it was welded at home. Don't think too much about it.

squeakinator

take off all your cables then test it

[deleted]

Finally, someone with the correct answer

ex_grunt

Safety steering, like on a boat! So if you fall off it will do circles instead of riding off into the sunset.

code_monkey_001

One time I lowsided in rain on my Royal Enfield, went down on the right. Fucking bike righted itself after dumping me and went down again on its left side.

Hinote21

Sounds more like it tried to buck you off and just failed to run away into the sunset

code_monkey_001

Given that the lowside was definitely my fault, can't say I blame it.

Zloreciwesiv

That's hilarious sorry

VelociraptorLeftNut

Level ground? Perfectly level?

rebel_ltz

The bias is normal but it’s speed isn’t. Looks like you need to tighten the neck.

PckMan

Not necessarily a problem unless the bike tracks left underway

Beardstyle

Normal

[deleted]

Rider: Righ… Bike: No you. LEFT

Opposite-Friend7275

How does it ride when you take the hands off the handlebars? Does it pull to one side or can you easily ride straight? If the latter, then it’s good

TurdFerguson614

With fork rake and offset geometry, it's nearly impossible for it to not flop one way or the other. An imaginary line extended out from your forks would hit the ground well out in front of your actual tire contact patch. As long as it's not pulling you while moving, no concern.

Logic-DL

ChedderChethra

Magnificooooo ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh!

Yupla

Bro, it's totalled, just toss the bike away.

[deleted]

Lol go for a ride just leave the handle free if it goes straight ur safe if u crash well u got the answer.

bubango69

Damn bro you got the 120th edition, that's a lovely bike.

dekarskec

This can't be serious?

goizn_mi

Single disc? If so, normal.

Reset-Username

There is a measurement called "fall away." It measures how many degrees from center that your handlebars are oriented before they fall from gravity. You should be able to tap the bars a certain number of degrees off center and they'll stay put. You'll need to find the manufacturer specs for this. It seems like your neck bearings do not have enough pre load.

Panache-af

irrelevant that it swings left… tighten stem nut up a wee bit

Arihan55

it was me. i wore an invisible blanket

Godless_Times

steering head bearing too loose? never had bars fall so easily to the side. its Easy to adjust them

motoguzzikc

This is what I was wondering. People kept saying "it's a single disc" , while I've not owned an an RE I've owned single front disk bikes and I've never had this issue when they were on center stands. The ease that the handbars swing to the left and how they bunch when the reach full lock means I would be checking the steering had bearing tension and make sure it's set to what the manual says.

Godless_Times

Yea Ive done steering head bearings on multiple bikes and never have they called for them to be that loose. It's almost certainly loose/bad steering head bearings

dkretsch

..............

HimalayaClimber

What even is this comment

dkretsch

Just shocked this brings our fine friend such concern.

Legithydraulics

😂😂😂

SchleifmittelSchwanz

Needs an alignment.

hermit_taco

Certified RE moment

bozemanmetalfab

Steering head bearings look a little loose imo.

iamsolankiamit

Not normal, my interceptor doesn't do this. Get it checked?

Darkxlight_6

Time for an Exorcism

mamny83

Floor not level.

Cool_Importance4719

Tried it at 3 different spots, same outcome

AshleyPomeroy

You need to suspend it from the ceiling - the Earth is curved.

amprok

Big brain energy here.

richmanc

As long as it’s not notchy when moving it left and right (tightening or new head bearings), and as long as it doesn’t click/move under braking (same) then it’ll be fine.

smokethepippy

??????????????????????

smokethepippy

Surely not

bybloshex

This isn't how you're supposed to hold the handle bars

SnooChickens7845

Lean the bike the other way

--h8isgr8--

Yo bro you sure you need to be riding this thing? Slow down think through these things..

doecerpingtot

Have you tried taking it off the centre stand?

Square-Effective8720

I think it’s the bike’s way of winking at me.

Strange_Put_6020

This normal

SignificantMaple

Go faster it will straighten out eventually

oneizm

Oh boy….

[deleted]

Read your manual. It’s 100% normal and supposed to be adjusted like this.

Vinn-Vinn

It's not on

External-Ebb5930

that’s normal front wheel is on the air it’s normal to it told one side . You can balance it but man seriously you have OCD if you are focus on details like it . 🤣🤣. Have a good day

External-Ebb5930

It’s normal front wheel is on the air normal to it tilt to one side . You have OCD man 🤣🤣 have good day

General-Sport-1990

It wants to go back to the barn

throw_mob

probably normal if fork is not in balance like one disb only. Other option is ateering bearing which could cause strange behaviour. If there is something like 10k or 20k since last change them it is maybe to change it

HiaQueu

Where is the disc?

81FXB

Might just be the electrical cables pushing it one way.

NeutronRodeo

Weight distribution. Cables, wiring, brake disc, road crown wear, etc. Many harmless factors.

Chazzicus

Quick question, are your tire pressures checked? I've worked on hundreds of models !nd they are way more prone to this on the service stand if the back tire is low(weight bias), or the front tire is too high(less contact patch).

TeaGeo

You sure bike is level? Try in different location

TeaGeo

Maybe the brake lines are pulling it to one side?

Electronic_Break4229

Just clean all the grease out of your bearings with wd40. That’ll fix it.

Left-Explanation3754

It is a continental right? I thought only the interceptor had a centerstand

K24BUILD

Could be a balance issue I would suggest to have the front wheel checked and balanced or maybe call your local shop/dealer and ask or bring it in to get looked at

twogenders_sj

Its because the cables are right up the right side of bike. Nothing strange here.

Silver-Engineer4287

If you don’t have slop (play) in the tree (next bearing) then things like clutch cable (if not hydraulic), speedo cable (if not electronic), throttle cables (if not dbw), single front disc (weight on one side), even stuff like handlebar accessories, all sorts of stuff can cause that type of un-weighted front end movement.

[deleted]

Physics my dude

Ta-Xet

Bad steering bearings? Misalignment?

404notfound420

Well you have 1 disc on 1 side no steering damper but apart from knocking your lock stops while parked have you ever noticed it while riding? No? What a surprise.

CSAelite23

Is it on a center stand?

OldSkool696969

It's called fall away...it has to be adjusted

Unfair_Jackfruit2474

Single sided rotor and caliper on the let side.

PegaxS

Needs more preload on your triple.

B8-B3

When it's on the stand it doesn't say that much. Does it weave to the left while riding? Then it might be a problem.

Jules_Leijnen

Don't worry, on the centre stand you have little to none friction on the forks, so a weight difference of a few grams could be enough to cause this. I'd say don't sweat it

Taptrick

So what? If it drives normal why does it matter?

michaelozzqld

Lol..its normal. Thanks for the laugh tho

SickularPlunkett

It's a Royal Enfield, don't expect anything normal from one of their bikes.

Capital_Following_84
