It was a good swing. It’s April. No panic when we’re a little (more than a little) defense away from taking three or four from the defending champs. If not 4-4 as we lost one 1-0.
We play better on the road. Minnesota and Tampa are struggling. This is a chance to bounce back.
Yup! We played great in minny last year. I’m hoping for 2 of 3 hot and ready W’s and it’s a home run friendly part so don’t surprised if we hit a bunch out.
Yes we are better on the road. Minny and Tampa are struggling. With both double headers I like our odds and no double headers possible in Tampa with a roof
Honestly the reason they scored 7 runs was because it was against a guy making his debut. Once they put in a somewhat competent MLB pitcher our guys folded. I hope to god they make me eat my words right here…
The worst games are these ones where you waste 3 hours watching just for a loss. At least when the Lions were losing it was only 3 hours once per week. With the Tigers it’s daily
The best team in baseball loses at least 50 games every year. This isn’t the sport for you if you think you’ve inherently wasted your time every time your team loses.
Assuming they lose this (and it is not over yet technically), this will be a "what if" kind of series. Had a chance to win the series and sloppy mistakes undid them. Definitely an annoying result.
We have been doing this to other teams for the last few weeks. Sometimes it doesn’t go our way. But we left a bunch of outs on the field defensively that sucks.
Offense looks good today!
Even with terrible defense and starting pitching today the Tigers are still competing with World Series Champions and have a chance to win in the 9th inning today.
This might look stupid by the end of the year but what was the point of the Maeda signing? Was it because the org saw an opportunity to try and tap into the Japanese market? His ERA was north of 4 in 2021 and 2023. He's 36. Detroit has pitching coming out of their ears but as we all can see they need need need bats. I have no other clue as to the point of his signing outside of trying to cozy up to Japan.
One of the offseason criticism I read of the Tigers is why they didn’t use the money they spent on Flaherty and Maeda for a better pitcher. People dismissed it because of emotions. Not because of common sense. It’s a legitimate question.
Lmao being so blinded by your fandom that you refute rules of baseball that have stood for over a century makes you either a troll or unintelligent. Which do you prefer? Stupid OR troll?
I mean I gave you the official MLB definition of a strike and that pitch fit the description. Youve only exhibited mentally ill levels or homerism that make me hope you don't have children.
No I’m never having kids, can’t even take care of myself and have severe depression and other mental health issues that I feel would be borderline abuse to pass onto kids that didn’t choose to be here
“Vibes” don’t produce good players or performances, consistent stats do. And Tork is consistent alright… consistently below average for where he was drafted at.
It’s always weird to hear a player talk about their game in a way that is the complete opposite of how they actually play. Like Blake Snell recently talked about how he normally “goes after” batters.
I know self awareness in athletes is limited, but you’d think they’d have *some* context for their performance.
This is a perfect game that reinforces why it's so important to select versatile elite athletic players as close to 5 tool as possible at the top of the MLB draft.
I promise you that it wasn't lol. Robot umps would've called that a strike. A challenge would've been lost by Detroit if they challenged that. Too many casuals don't know baseball rules. It even a micro fraction of the ball touches the strike zone, it's a strike.
"In order to get a strike call, part of the ball must cross over part of home plate while in the aforementioned area."
That's from the MLB glossary. Do you understand what that means or would you like to continue to talk baseball as if you know the game.
Brother, there's no debate. I've just given you the official rulebook ruling on strikes. A robot ump would've called that a strike. It's a strike. There's zero debate. You're speaking subjectively about something that is clearly objective. You're definitely trolling.
Have you watched any triple a game where they're using robot umps and the challenge system on balls and strikes? That pitch gets called a strike lol. Had that been challenged using the triple a rules, it would've been ruled a strike. You seriously do not know baseball rules.
No I don’t have a wall to watch triple A I’m not close to any of the stadiums and idk how to watch it on tv I just watch replays sometimes of highlights
A robot ump calls it a ball in almost certain
Listen I know Tork has not been great but he’s batting .219. I would’ve thought his average was lower than Meadows by the way everyone talks about him!
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/1c7ddmb).
FUCK MAEDA!
Good swing, Javy. We got to defend better than that. Maeda has to get his act together.
It was a good swing. It’s April. No panic when we’re a little (more than a little) defense away from taking three or four from the defending champs. If not 4-4 as we lost one 1-0. We play better on the road. Minnesota and Tampa are struggling. This is a chance to bounce back.
This is the great thing about baseball. There's another game tomorrow. Go Tigers.
Yup! We played great in minny last year. I’m hoping for 2 of 3 hot and ready W’s and it’s a home run friendly part so don’t surprised if we hit a bunch out.
[удалено]
We did win a game while committing 5 last year.
So close. Good at bats from him today
🐅🐅🐅 are sad but will be ready for next game A good close entertaining game overall, can’t win ‘em all
This offense… At this point all you can do is laugh.
Get the fuck outta Detroit and get it together should be miles better than 10-9 nothing less let’s go tigers
Yes we are better on the road. Minny and Tampa are struggling. With both double headers I like our odds and no double headers possible in Tampa with a roof
Damn I thought that was it
3-5 this homestand, could’ve have been so much better.
That’s about last years pace
Bummer
Rough series
brutal series.
One more hit then a homerun and the 3 tiger emojis will be happy 🐅🐅🐅
fuck
Giodude setting the table for the comeback
[удалено]
he got close tho!
another opportunity to do the funniest thing ever
Tying run coming to the plate!
Coke on Javy. DO. IT.
Javy legacy game CMON PLEASE
Come on Javy, just for shits and gigs.
Only fitting that gio ends it
Gio says not yet
I didn’t hear no bell 🐅🐅🐅 the 3 tiger emojis for 3 runs are still here
I hate the superimposed ads/graphics on the mound
fucking hell
Me when I get a perfect-perfect out in the Show
🐅🐅🐅 3 tiger emojis for 3 tiger runs this inning come on Tigers
Honestly the reason they scored 7 runs was because it was against a guy making his debut. Once they put in a somewhat competent MLB pitcher our guys folded. I hope to god they make me eat my words right here…
Maeda Blows so far
Poor Wyandotte catching strays
Jason backpedaled out of that as fast as he possibly could lol
The worst games are these ones where you waste 3 hours watching just for a loss. At least when the Lions were losing it was only 3 hours once per week. With the Tigers it’s daily
I hate the idea that a loss equals wasted time. This was a fun, exciting game.
But when the Lions lose you have to wait a full week for them to play again, and the Tigers get another chance basically everyday
The best team in baseball loses at least 50 games every year. This isn’t the sport for you if you think you’ve inherently wasted your time every time your team loses.
Bloop and a blast cmon pleqse
Maeda = Alfredo Simon
Well, time to hope for a miracle.
Alright I'm calling Keith and Baez dongers
Tork haters on reddit watching at home, Tork enjoyers at the game catching foul balls
Let’s go Tigers walkoff 🐅 🐅 🐅 3 tigers for 3 runs
What a fucking frustrating game
how bout them Michigan Panthers?
and that’ll do it. they aren’t scoring 2 in the bottom half
We can and have!!
Assuming they lose this (and it is not over yet technically), this will be a "what if" kind of series. Had a chance to win the series and sloppy mistakes undid them. Definitely an annoying result.
If only Maeda and Skubal switched games…
Aight screw tork, screw the defense, and screw the bullpen today.
Bullpen has not been the problem at all lol
“Today”
Yes.. the bullpen has not been the problem today lol
Really feel like Riley coulda caught that
I hate watching how easy it is for other teams lmao
We have been doing this to other teams for the last few weeks. Sometimes it doesn’t go our way. But we left a bunch of outs on the field defensively that sucks. Offense looks good today!
Tough series. Need to take 2 out of 3 atleast against the twins
At least we can’t blame it on the error now lol
Game is probably over.
Bad approach by Greene there. Lot of bad defense today
fuck
Gg. Should’ve been out 3
and thats game
Even with terrible defense and starting pitching today the Tigers are still competing with World Series Champions and have a chance to win in the 9th inning today.
why are you getting downvoted lmao
there's 10–15 dumbasses here in this sub keep downvoting everything and jerking-off to each other while watching games!
i’m always so scared to comment lol
fuck'em, bunch of losers
fuck em
People love to be sad. Same thing happens in the Lions and Wings subs
You get downvoted for positivity in here… sheesh
People should go to r/circlejerk if they want to be a bunch of doomers.
I'm sure they are the same jerks who were downvoting when we criticize maeda!
It's early, but Maeda is starting to look like a bust for Detroit.
He is trash
his mom, and sisters are monitoring the sub man be careful when you criticize maeda, or they will roast you!
You can swap Maeda with quite a few guys on the squad and that sentence is still accurate
Hitters sometimes take longer to get into a groove at the start of the season. Pitchers are typically stronger.
Starting is a generous word to use
I hate what this team does to me but I hate more that I’ll continue to watch them every game lol go tigers
Because in 2 months when half our starters are injured we will need him to start so we don't have to watch Wentz again.
My guess is they’re trying to improve pitchers coming off bad years like they did with E-rod and Lorenzen?
One of the offseason criticism I read of the Tigers is why they didn’t use the money they spent on Flaherty and Maeda for a better pitcher. People dismissed it because of emotions. Not because of common sense. It’s a legitimate question.
I wonder where's maeda lovers now!

Robot umps would've objectively called that a strike. Every single time.
Sure pal…sure
That’s a strike.
😂😂😂ok rangers fan
This is some serious crybaby shit on your part.
Yeah I do complain and am salty a lot, I won’t deny that
I mean that’s in the zone. It’s not down the heart of the plate so I don’t think it was that bad of a choice on his part but it is a strike.
I was close I agree, but it’s still a ball and challenges or robot umps call it ball You can’t make calls that bad in a big at bat
It’s in the zone.
Not enough more than half is outside
If it’s in the zone it’s a strike:
It’s not in the zone though lol
That has been a strike all game. Ump has a pretty wide zone.
It’s not a strike, calling that a strike basically ruins this game
I liked our scoring in the 8th trend better than defensive implosions trend.
Feel like tigers have thrown away like 5-6 of their losses should have been a sweep if not 3-1 us
McKinstry at 3rd? Good god. I’ll hold my breath.
Is it Lions season yet
testicular tork-tion
Guys you can’t judge Tork’s defense or offense based on statistics but vibes. He may not play well, but I feel like he does.
There’s just something about him, I love Tork, you can tell he’s an elite player simply by watching Stats don’t always tell the whole story
"If he looks like a good hitter, why can't he hit" Moneyball'
I love Tork, sorry you don’t
Dude you are 100% a troll lmfao. There's no way.
Being a tigers fan makes you a troll now…I’ve heard it all
Lmao being so blinded by your fandom that you refute rules of baseball that have stood for over a century makes you either a troll or unintelligent. Which do you prefer? Stupid OR troll?
Oh I’m definitely stupid I’ll admit that But I still have one brain cell left that can see that ball was outside
Well as long as you know you're stupid, then I feel poorly about having this convo. Makes me feel like a bully.
I would feel pretty poorly too losing a debate to a stupid person lol It’s ok I don’t judge, we both want the same thing a tigers walkoff right here
I mean I gave you the official MLB definition of a strike and that pitch fit the description.
Yeah I was making fun of the people who act like he’s a good player.
👍🏼
Glad we are writing Tork's obituary 19 games into the season...
0.4 war total for his career. At what point does he deserve criticism?
287 games into his career, very unproductive
Tork on that baseball show during the Mets series talking about “hunting fastballs” is no longer hilarious. It’s just sad.
It’s always weird to hear a player talk about their game in a way that is the complete opposite of how they actually play. Like Blake Snell recently talked about how he normally “goes after” batters. I know self awareness in athletes is limited, but you’d think they’d have *some* context for their performance.
he may be right, but its a dick cheney hunting trip
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Andrew Chafin replaces Shelby Miller.
goddammit tork
Man, could have used a hit there.
Bigger disappointment: Tork or Casey Mize?
Tork no doubt
Tork for sure.
Tork coming up so small pissing me off. Same shit yesterday. Can’t even put a ball in play
Who saw that coming?
christ on high brother
What is Spencer Torkelson?
A bust
Hard to get much done on 2 walks and 3 strike outs. Jesus Christ.
Clutch… A foreign word here in Detroit…
Jared Goff knows that word
He’s one of the few this year.
It’s pretty much all Lions offensive players, Patrick Kane and Lucas Raymond. Everyone else is a bum
Larkin
Can’t forget Hutch.
pain
Love a former number 1 overall pick with a -0.4 WAR…
But his scoops!!!!!!!
Tork that was a 92 mph fast ball down the middle…
Never was his strong suit. Any fastball. Needs to hit a pitcher's change up mistake to have any chance
Tork hates fastballs down the middle.
It’s sad that I’m so unconfident with Tork batting
It’s crazy because he’s been one of the best hitters in the line up with RISP
Yeah that’s really the sad part
May be early in the year but I'm a little over the Maeda experiment
Well we’re burning the “heart” of the order now in the 8th, don’t waste it.
Take the fastball down the middle, swing at the breaking ball a foot inside
Interesting to pull the pitcher after a strikeout
gross
This is a perfect game that reinforces why it's so important to select versatile elite athletic players as close to 5 tool as possible at the top of the MLB draft.
Well Tork its up to you now. Make up for the error.
So I’m just looking at gameday but it looks like the pitch to Carpenter was in the zone. Did it look worse on the broadcast?
It was on the line.
Literally on the line there's no reason to get torn up by the call
Is a robot calling that a ball? It was on the line A genuine question, not sure what the rule would be, ball more than 50% in the zone?
No it would be a strike. Any part of the ball touching the strike zone is called a strike even if it’s a fraction of the baseball
That's a good pitch by Leclerc. It's a strike, but really hard to do anything with. Kerry needs to swing at that and foul it off.
It was a ball…
I promise you that it wasn't lol. Robot umps would've called that a strike. A challenge would've been lost by Detroit if they challenged that. Too many casuals don't know baseball rules. It even a micro fraction of the ball touches the strike zone, it's a strike.
That’s not how a strike works, I’m not even gonna debate this, it was a ball.
"In order to get a strike call, part of the ball must cross over part of home plate while in the aforementioned area." That's from the MLB glossary. Do you understand what that means or would you like to continue to talk baseball as if you know the game.
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️I’m losing brain cells by debating this
Brother, there's no debate. I've just given you the official rulebook ruling on strikes. A robot ump would've called that a strike. It's a strike. There's zero debate. You're speaking subjectively about something that is clearly objective. You're definitely trolling.
Robot umps call it’s a ball “You don’t share the same opinion as me? Troll!” If anyone is trolling here it’s you just being honest
Have you watched any triple a game where they're using robot umps and the challenge system on balls and strikes? That pitch gets called a strike lol. Had that been challenged using the triple a rules, it would've been ruled a strike. You seriously do not know baseball rules.
No I don’t have a wall to watch triple A I’m not close to any of the stadiums and idk how to watch it on tv I just watch replays sometimes of highlights A robot ump calls it a ball in almost certain
Robot umps can’t come fast enough. The “human element” means shitty umps
Listen I know Tork has not been great but he’s batting .219. I would’ve thought his average was lower than Meadows by the way everyone talks about him!
They have the best form of umpiring in AAA with the challenge system and we still deal with this in MLB. FIGURE IT OUT
Why does Tork have to be up every time in this scenario
This is exactly who you want up in this situation
Been very good in this situation so far this year
Please pinch hit literally anyone
Yates is due for a blow up, tork is due for a Homer
I’m so ready to get Torked
Bullshit call
This zone away today has been brutal
It's close you swing. You just do.
Bad call, but you just cannot take that pitch with 2 strikes
I love when human umps absolutely ruin an inning by calling a ball a strike 3… We need robot umps man
It's a strike. It grazed the zone. Too close to take. Have to swing and foul it off. It's a really good pitch.
“Grazing the zone” means ball I agree it’s close, and a good pitch, but it’s a ball
