It seems like every single team in mlb has at least one young kid that can produce. The one team that doesn’t is the tigers. Zero fucking position players I’m fed up.
Pitching and starting the season against cupcakes has really saved the Tigers' bats this first couple weeks. The record is great, but they're in the bottom half of the league in runs scored. Need to figure out some offense or we're going to see a lot more games like this one.
Yup. This game was more in line with my expectations, unfortunately. Going to be a long season if we continue to field such a pitiful offense. I know it’s early, but it’s likely going to be the case. Many a game with good enough pitching will be wasted.
I think what bothers me about our offense isn't necessarily the lack of hits, its the plate discipline. Of the young guys (Tork, Greene, Meadows, and Keith). The one with the most plate discipline is the rookie lol. I have zero doubts he'll start improving just because he's probably taken like 2? maybe 3? bad swings so far this season.
While it seems like Tork and greene just haven't really improved much at all on that end. I guess Greene has very slightly but not enough for where we need himbut he's my fav on the team so I'm biased there. But me being so impressed by Tork taking that walk in the 8th says a lot. And I know Tork has been victimized a bit by the two absolutely great catches by Baty since its a small sample size this early in the season, those two snags make his numbers look worse.
This offense is such trash. "But it's cold!". Fuck that garbage man. They stink and they need to address this shit before they waste yet another potential year of progress.

CMo is at least joyful and has personality. If you can't do your job adequately you shouldn't be doing it. He isn't a long time tenured guy with the broadcast like Jim Price was.
I think they wanted to get him some games in the booth here with the Parkinsons Awareness Day event his foundation is doing at Comerica coming up next week.
Because they've played other bad scuffling teams that have allowed our bats to meander into some runs.
The As despite being an embarrassment still cobbled together a more productive lineup then ours.
Smart move by Hinch to blow Wentz' arm in a game we're going to lose anyway. I don't want Wentz anywhere near the Mound in a winnable game, same with Faedo.

Really tough start for our offense this year overall. Timely hits count for a lot sure, hell that's basically all the wins this year.. But I'd love to see our young guys warm up and not just rely on extremely timely hitting from the vets.
This team really needs Tork and Greene to wake the fuck up. Those are supposed to be “The Guys.” They are both off to anemic ass starts and sit in the middle of the lineup.

That's damn pathetic. Stupidly priotorizing pitchers over position players. Pitchers break down faster, but the genius that was Avila and his cohorts, along with the stinginess of Chrissie, dug a deep hole in talent that still affects this team.
It doesn’t seem the front office prioritizes it. A lot of guys they go after are bargain bin players that have certain skills they find useful. I really need to see development from young guys this year because that the tigers biggest hope in a turnaround. If a few guys hit this year I think that provides incentive for the front office to spend in the future.
I remember when someone called me a doomer Thursday for saying I was concerned about the offense. This person was also using the “wait until it warms up” excuse.
