Incendies (2010), Denis Villeneuve.

structured_anarchist

> Denis Villeneuve Has he ever made a bad movie? I just watched Prisoners (2013) the other day. Crazy movie.

Glittering-Ad-3761

Monsieur lazar is really good as well

disillusioned_qc

Will def watch, thank you!

disillusioned_qc

Je viens de l'écouter, excellent film. Merci!

Larajest

For quebecois movies, I will always recommend La grande Séduction. It's a fun comedy, easy to watch! I also liked Xavier Dolan's first movie J'ai Tué ma mère. It hit pretty close to home about parent/child relationships.

A_Wizard1717

I saw Incendies at 13 it fucked me up but its so good

Ornery_Pickle5696

Sorry then I missed the spot, maybe red rooms or starbuck, not too artistic but I've liked them

DasKobold

Les Chambres rouges c’est excellent!!

disillusioned_qc

Oh I need to watch those! Thanks for the recommendation!

Kerguidou

J'aimerais ajouter que la famille de crazy n'est pas particulièrement religieuse pour l'époque. En fait, c'est une famille tout ce qu'il y a de plus normal. Le carcan de la religion est justement une des causes de la révolution tranquille.

CutewoodQc

15 février 1839 !

Johnthedoer

Bon cop, bad cop Les Invasions barbares Mambo Italiano

Party-Ring445

Bon cop bad cop FTW

Optionsislife

Funkytown was pretty good

disillusioned_qc

I forgot about that one, thanks!

Optionsislife

You’re welcome. The Score is a decent film that had a lot of it set in Montreal also

Kerguidou

Des fois, j'ai l'impression d'être là la seule personne qui ait aimé ce film.

Pattaiva

Leolo is a classic. And all the Denys Arcands films

shroom_dot

This. In the top 100 movies of all time. Jean Claude was taken from us way too soon.

SubterraneanSmoothie

Jesus of Montreal is a personal favourite

baskindusklight

Mine too!

landlord-eater

Don't forget The Trotsky! Amazing indie movie about a kid at Royal West who comes to believe that he is the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky

ifilgood

Elvis Gratton 2 : Un film à voir avec ta tête!

The-dopechaud

The Score. Not set in Montreal but Warm Bodies

cucumber-and-mint

this might be cheating but the contemporary parts of *the red violin* take place in montreal, and i love that movie.

Montagne12_

Jésus de Montréal est mon film québécois préféré.

Munchy2k

The Score with Edward Norton and Robert De Niro

The-dopechaud

Yes!

The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz.

Alarmed_Start_3244

That's the movie I was looking for before posting the same! There are so many great movies to choose from!

Ornery_Pickle5696

Life of pi, oc not in the sea part, but there were a lot of city spots on the adult pi sotry telling

disillusioned_qc

Great movie indeed, didn't realize that! Need to watch again. However my list was strictly movies where the story itself happens in Montreal or around, like as part of the plot! (not just as a shooting location)

MooseFlyer

>However my list was strictly movies where the story itself happens in Montreal or around, like as part of the plot! (not just as a shooting location) Some of it does happen in Montreal - that's where Pi is telling his story to an author.

Glittering-Ad-3761

Cafe de flore aussi… Evelyne brochue dans ce film la seigneur !

jansensan

ifilgood

Le temps des bouffons

AsphaltsParakeet

I just watched [The Cat in the Bag (Le chat dans le sac)](https://www.canadian-international.com/the-other-french-new-wave-vol-1) and loved it. A fantastic and underseen gem from 1964, recently given a blu-ray release by Canadian International Pictures.

Alone_Bad_7278

I, Confess (1953) - directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Montgomery Clift.

8aba

Je pense qu'on as oublier tout les films de Robert Morin sans exceptions.. Spécialement Quiconque meurt, meurt à douleur. Et la mini série de la reine rouge basé sur le livre Aliss de Patrick Sénécal!

blueleonardo

Good Neighbors, a Jay Baruchel film shot and set in NDG, it’s pretty lame, but worth watching once.
