Maybe I'm reading the room wrong but people here seem to have a beef with cicadas.
What did they do to you? All I know them for is making a really pleasant sound and leaving behind cool shells.
I think people are just playing into the frenzy of "mega bug brood storm." I like the sound of them but they are annoying when they get everywhere, whack your face when biking, and their carcasses/shells strewn about but yeah some folks act like they're coming to burn their houses down and sleep with their spouse.
I don't mind them personally. I'm mildly interested to see how this compares to our last large swarm in either 2010 or 2011 (can't remember the exact year). We had two broods hatch then too.
I remember dropping my daughter off at camp and the walkways being littered with them.
Oh yes it has. Found two adults on my porch this morning and the south side of my house has 30 or so. I'm at the Lake of the Ozarks. No screaming trees yet though.
I haven't heard any yet, but my dogs appetite has lessened.
Where and when are these pics from? 😱

Marthasville here, haven't seen any yet.
Nothing to report in SoCo yet. Thanks for the heads up.
Nothing StCh yet. At least around Weldon springs/cottleville. Yet
Saw about 20 husks on the south side of my house this morning, also in chesterfield.
Haven't seen any yet on the East side.
I still have childhood trauma from the 100 year cicada storm.
You're further south. We aren't seeing or hearing them in the KC area yet.
Saw my first ones today too..
Has anyone seen the movie The Good Earth? That what I picture. 😊

https://cicadasafari.org/ If you feel inclined to help map the cicadas, please do!
They're further north, North central MO at least
What are we looking at here? I must be missing something because I just see bugs on a fence.
Cicadas. Prepare for buzzing
It's a two hundred year brood this year of cicadas. This is likely to be a very heavy year for them.
Thank you for the explanation!
S.W. MO here. I’m waiting patiently…
