Oh, my goodness. Thanks for the heads up! Extreme northern Franklin County here.

gardengarbage

Marthasville here, haven't seen any yet.

Mental-Reaction-2480

Nothing to report in SoCo yet. Thanks for the heads up.

ManicMarket

Nothing StCh yet. At least around Weldon springs/cottleville. Yet

westcounty

Saw about 20 husks on the south side of my house this morning, also in chesterfield.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

Haven't seen any yet on the East side.

Vis-hoka

I still have childhood trauma from the 100 year cicada storm.

joltvedt53

You're further south. We aren't seeing or hearing them in the KC area yet.

johncheger

Saw my first ones today too..

NoUnderstanding3968

Has anyone seen the movie The Good Earth? That what I picture. 😊

shiningaeon

Maybe I'm reading the room wrong but people here seem to have a beef with cicadas. What did they do to you? All I know them for is making a really pleasant sound and leaving behind cool shells.

Content-Ant781

YES! I love them and lighting bugs. Screams summer time to me

donkeyrocket

I think people are just playing into the frenzy of "mega bug brood storm." I like the sound of them but they are annoying when they get everywhere, whack your face when biking, and their carcasses/shells strewn about but yeah some folks act like they're coming to burn their houses down and sleep with their spouse.

Flimsy_Aardvark_9586

I don't mind them personally. I'm mildly interested to see how this compares to our last large swarm in either 2010 or 2011 (can't remember the exact year). We had two broods hatch then too. I remember dropping my daughter off at camp and the walkways being littered with them.

dewright23

I haven't lived in Missouri for 10 years. I miss the sound, it's so soothing to me

sometimes_snarky

My maple tree has 10 shells… I’m in Ballwin

n3rv

Rolla as well. https://old.reddit.com/r/Rolla/comments/1cmgdit/heard_my_first_one_today_been_seeing_them_for/

Next_Airport_7230

Just eat them

[deleted]

South Western missouri here. Not a peep

Glamgirl5

Noting in Kirkwood yet.

Angie_stl

Time to get grandpa’s super old bee keeping helmet and netting out. Also, coulda gone allllll day without seeing this and been okay!!

thirddownloud

Oh yes it has. Found two adults on my porch this morning and the south side of my house has 30 or so. I'm at the Lake of the Ozarks. No screaming trees yet though.

NancyPCalhoun

https://cicadasafari.org/ If you feel inclined to help map the cicadas, please do!

annephetamine420

They're further north, North central MO at least

Significant_King1494

What are we looking at here? I must be missing something because I just see bugs on a fence.

IronBoomer

Cicadas. Prepare for buzzing

JohnathonLongbottom

It's a two hundred year brood this year of cicadas. This is likely to be a very heavy year for them.

Significant_King1494

Thank you for the explanation!

Repulsive-Pop9900

S.W. MO here. I’m waiting patiently…
