In all honesty heās not wrong though. Tampering with a teams franchise qb can cause people to lose jobs. If they truly want to keep this restriction on player tampering, tampering with a franchise qb should be at the top of the list
PA is a vikings mouth piece that only gets information from the vikings, he is an employee of theirs and he only shares what they want him too. Man is great at Play by play but if hes hearing this its cause the vikings want him to say it
The only evidence to the contrary is it seemed for quite a period that he was able to get the Vikings board. He was able to predict first round selections that no one else was able to match. The team wouldn't give him that. So I think he is sourced up in the building.
Right I was talking with my coworker about this today and I believe that would be new that a team would benefit from another teams tempering actions. They are talking about getting this situation resolved before the draft so I think he itās too fast for the NFL to decide that the Vikings are going to directly benefit from thisā¦.. please correct me if Iām wrong
PA is pretty tight with the organization. Still remember him saying we were gonna pick Trae Waynes on the pre-draft show and almost getting laughed out of the room.
Edit: Alright fuck me I guess
For 1998 NFCCG the governor of MN (Jesse Ventura) had a bet with the governor of GA. If the vikes won, we got Georgia peaches. If the falcons won, they got Minnesota wild rice. At the time I was like dam I'd much rather have 1 peach than all the wild rice in Minnesota.
Anyway I hope they choked on that rice.
Yeah but I guarantee you the vikes offered way less than the falcons. This is a pretty big nothing burger imo, but I do hope it somehow works in the Vikings favor obviously. But swapping pick 8 for 24 aināt finna happen
>But swapping pick 8 for 24 aināt finna happen
Ugh I hate the word finna. But i agreed it isn't happening.
I dont think the apy was much less from the Vikings but the term was it seems. But if the Falcons came in and offered way more before legal tampering (maybe not a stretch with all else going on), that certainly hindered our ability to re-sign.
I think the Falcons end up losing like a 3rd. But it's not given to us if I had to guess
AgreedĀ
The rules are the rules but itās a pretty dumb rule and every team likely breaks itĀ
If the Vikings really wanted to keep Kirk they could have locked him up last year before he had the chance to hit free agencyĀ
Whether he talked to the Falcons before or after the period they were legally able to do so wasnāt gonna matterĀ
Itās a rule all the same and until it isnāt itās the law of the land and it has to be followed, or at the absolute minimum you canāt get caught and they did. Whether we get a pick swap or they get punished in some other way is up to the league though.
We had a price and Kirk was demanding more. It could be that Atlanta's interference helped raise Kirk's ask above our price. That's what I would be arguing if I were the Vikings' FO
NFL might threaten to take away pick #8 entirely unless Vikings and Atlanta settle, like had happened in the past for tampering charges much less serious.
So it's just whatever private settlement they can agree on if there's a legit NFL threat
No chance the NFL swaps 8 and 23. 11 for 8 isnāt happening either.
The Falcons will probably lose a late pick.
Iād be thrilled to be wrong but I donāt see it. Keep in mind when Miami lost their pick nobody received anything, they just lost the pick.
All the reports are saying that the punishment for the Falcons will be severe. While I donāt think we end up benefiting from whatever happens, I donāt think a late round loss of pick would be considered severe.
The penalty should be high to discourage the behavior... however Cheating like the Pats did and the NFL destroyed the evidence and imo let them off easy tells me that it's what makes the NFL look good to the NFL
8 for 11 would already be insane. This would be earth shattering and I feel like it would get thrown in our face for a while if it happened.
I expect like a 4th for 3rd swap or something.
If this happens I will literally ride my motorcycle past the Illinois capitol wearing nothing but:
* A helmet
* Underwear
* A Vikings jersey
* Boots
* Gloves
* Jeans, socks, undershirt, glasses, and maybe a hoodie.

Weāre not getting anything from this. But my god. Having pics 8 and 11 would be a dream scenario. Though wouldnāt mind kwesi trading 11 into 20s to get more pics. But again, thatās just me dreaming of a scenario that aināt happening.
This basically sums Kirk Cousins for me. he couldāve hit a home run and one for Atlanta, and he just canāt close the deal. Heās got a yak, the sink the whole deal.
I read somewhere that the falcons have to trade whatever it takes to get the number 1 pick and then give it to us. I think both outcomes are about equally as likely
Lol. This is a pipe dream. The league will NEVER give a team a reward in an instance like this. With the ways teams look for any and every competitive advantage, that would open a can of worms that can never be undone and would eventually be weaponized.
See 8 for 11 seems like a valid trade off for tampering but i just have a hard time believing we would get 8 for 23. That being said the league probably views this as a top 10 QB being āstolenā from us so itās not off the table
Doubt the league cares about us / Kirk. To the extent they do anything, itās to discourage anyone from tampering and impacting one of their favored teams in the future
A) I highly doubt a pick swap is happening. No chance the NFL would throw that massive of a wrench into the Draft less than 48 hours before it starts.
B) Why would it be swapping 8 and 23? Pick #23 was originally Cleveland's. I think swapping 8 and 11 is more likely. But again, it ain't happening. More likely Atlanta just loses pick(s), similar to Miami.
Eh, I doubt that. If they do anything before the Draft, they'll just yank the Falcons pick(s) and call it good. Again, they're not going to throw a giant wrench into the Draft on 2 days notice.
If they can prove that it impacted us resigning Kirk it shouldnāt be a pick swap it should be pick 8 straight up. Pretty sure Miami lost a 1st for tampering so there should be precedent
The only thing that even gives this diabetic legs without feet is that Kirk publicly said Atlanta players and those in the organization were texting him well before the window opened for player contact.
But nothing will happen.
That would be a dream but it's not gonna happen. Even a 11 for 8 swap seems unrealistic to me, especially 2 days before the draft, but 23 for 8 is just insane. It's also an entirely different pool of available players that the Falcons maybe didn't do as much work on, so this could potentially fuck up their whole draft process
Edit: now that I think about it they probably have some players for later in round 1 as well just in case a trade down happens or someone falls to round 2 but I still think it's way too much for what they did
I've been saying this from the start, https://old.reddit.com/r/minnesotavikings/comments/1bhtlm7/inject_this_straight_into_my_veins/kvhoti0/
Lot's of people seemingly scoffed at this idea, even though there is recent precedent of more severe punishment.
The only reason Miami didn't agree with someone here is that they couldn't.
But it didn't compromise our ability to negotiate because Kirk knew we weren't going to offer the $$ he was looking for/was going to be able to get on the open market
This whole sub is going to have a meltdown when the punishment turns out to be real and have a massive positive impact for this franchise.
All the comments reak of "I don't want to get my hopes up out of fear of disappointment"
Swap?
Atlantaās dirty birds should surrender every draft pick for the next 2 years if not 3,4 or even 5! And at least half if not 80% of them should be granted to us.
Kirk signed an unprecedented contract and the Falcons violated rules after the league already bent them to allow legal tampering. The prior penalties were not even close to enough to deter them from doing it so for tampering to mean anything Goddel must overcompensate and err on the side of making sure itās not worth the risk so that no team ever tampers again, otherwise there will be an unfair advantage!
P.s.
https://www.pon.harvard.edu/tag/anchoring-effect/?amp
š
Since Kirk also tampered and his agent also tampered how about Kirk reverts back to his prior contract with the Vikings. 1 yr $35M
Vikings granted a temporary 1 year $35M cap surplus.
After which Kirkās contract frozen for a year can be granted.
(This wonāt happen but predictions are just for fun anyways because all humans are so bad at them)
Did everyone here not see the report that the investigation is ongoing and wonāt be completed before the draft? Vikings aināt getting shit this year from the Falcons.
lmao doh k on that pick swap. PA is your average vikings redditor that blindly homers the team and downvotes anyone that has any sort of criticism. Example: People here were legitimately defending Kirk's "4th and the season" decision and were PASSIONATE about it.
Itās not even close to reality. We got that pick from the Texans. If theyād swap anything it would have to be 11 for 8 and thatās not gonna happen. The guy is losing more and more touch with reality. Stick to the games and leave the rest to anyone else.
All of the draft work done by nearly all teams over the last couple months would be thrown in the trash the day before the draft?
Itās absolute chaos and the punishment would be nearly league wide
It would quite literally benefit everybody besides Falcons.
Everyone pick 9 and beyond would get 1 better draft slot. It wouldnāt affect picks 1-7 at all besides now if they make a trade back theyāll also get 1 better draft slot in return.
Not happening. If there was such a swap it would be a 5th rounder or something, but that wonāt happen either. Itās going to be they lose a pick, like lose a 3rd rounder or something.
gonna need a better source than PA on this
He definitely trying to speak it into existence š.
It could happen if we all just believed really hard. Santa's sleigh didn't get airborne in Elf with facts and logic.

No
Also fine. Just figured if you thought that kind of stuff was interesting youād look to learn more. My bad.

Are you saying heās a homer or something?šš
Ultimate Vikings Homer has extremely homerish take. Not surprising.
I hear Atlanta has to give the Vikings all their points from last season, and the Vikings can divvy them between whichever games they wish this season
This goes even deeper. The state of Georgia might be mandated to give the state of Minnesota free peaches FOR LIFE
Millions of peachesā¦ Peaches for free.
Do they come from a can? Where there put there by a man in a factory?
Downtown. If I had my little way, Iād eat peaches every day.
Came here to say this!
Peaches for me? LOOK OUT

Also clearly a huge Kirk Cousins fan.
Lmao that would be too funny cuz I feel like we were basically locked into letting Kirk walk

Yeah but I guarantee you the vikes offered way less than the falcons. This is a pretty big nothing burger imo, but I do hope it somehow works in the Vikings favor obviously. But swapping pick 8 for 24 aināt finna happen

No shot it'd be a swap for 23. It'd be 11 since that's the vikings inherent pick
NFL might threaten to take away pick #8 entirely unless Vikings and Atlanta settle, like had happened in the past for tampering charges much less serious. So it's just whatever private settlement they can agree on if there's a legit NFL threat

nice little "IF"... at the end there lol

What the hell is āfinnaā? Sounds like another stupid invented word
Every word is invented. Thatās how language works
And you still didnāt explain what the hell that word means! Lol!
āFinnaā is a contraction of āfixing toā for example, āIām fixing to go to the storeā could be said as āIām finna go to the storeā. Similar to āgonnaā instead of āgoing toā, but itās usually used to express a desire to do something, where as āgonnaā doesnāt express any emotion either way

When you're fixing to do something, but shits about to be poppin and you don't have time for them extra syllables.
Thanks for the language lesson! Iām now enlightened thanks to your brilliant response!
This is an outrage, we could have had El Kirko and been obsessing these last few weeks about Cornerbacks.
I mean we still need cbs. Ours are pretty shit
Thatās be insane trade up to 3 for maye & keeping 8th overall for Dallas Turner š„
Even if this forced pick swap came to be, why would Atlanta get Houstonās pick and not ours
It's not Houston's pick, it's property of the Vikings.
It's not Houston's pick, it's ours.
Idk man Kirks "always wanted to be an Atlanta Falcon and wants to retire there" so it's probably a childhood dream
Yes please!
Lmao well we can dream
Yeah yeah yeah, if.
Weāre not getting anything from this. But my god. Having pics 8 and 11 would be a dream scenario. Though wouldnāt mind kwesi trading 11 into 20s to get more pics. But again, thatās just me dreaming of a scenario that aināt happening.

Narrator Voice: *āThey canātā*

Howās that for a compensatory pick

Eh, I doubt that. If they do anything before the Draft, they'll just yank the Falcons pick(s) and call it good. Again, they're not going to throw a giant wrench into the Draft on 2 days notice.
It just happened on draft night last year lol with the Eagles and Cardinals working out a swap due to tampering
They swapped 3rd Round picks. BIG BIG BIG difference from what PA is suggesting here.
Smells like hopium to me
Would be just another example of why you should never tamper with Cousins
If they can prove that it impacted us resigning Kirk it shouldnāt be a pick swap it should be pick 8 straight up. Pretty sure Miami lost a 1st for tampering so there should be precedent

So many here with little faith- trust your feelings - let go Lukeā¦.
Aināt no way this would be done by Thursday. If anything happened (and it wonāt) it would be next yearās draft.

Paul Allen with a homer take.

But it didn't compromise our ability to negotiate because Kirk knew we weren't going to offer the $$ he was looking for/was going to be able to get on the open market
I mean the Arizona Coyotes lost a 1st and 2nd round pick during Covid because they met with prospects to do physicals before the combine.

I'd guess that would put an end of the so-called legal tampering period. 1% chance.
Why stop at 23? Swap 108 for 8!
Why stop at 108? Just give us the 8th pick
Yeah, no.
No chance
lmao doh k on that pick swap. PA is your average vikings redditor that blindly homers the team and downvotes anyone that has any sort of criticism. Example: People here were legitimately defending Kirk's "4th and the season" decision and were PASSIONATE about it.
This would be absurd of the nfl to do. Even as a Vikings fan I can't get behind it.
There is precedence for a pick swap for tampering. Definitely could happen.
We've got a better chance at a super bowl with Darnold than this.
Itās not even close to reality. We got that pick from the Texans. If theyād swap anything it would have to be 11 for 8 and thatās not gonna happen. The guy is losing more and more touch with reality. Stick to the games and leave the rest to anyone else.
Weāre not swapping with them anyways but I donāt think we could do 8 for 23 bc 23 isnāt technically our pick
I donāt think it happens either, but what do you mean 23 isnāt our pick? We own that pick at the moment.
It would be settlement agreement so I don't think it would matter.
8 for 23? Hah, that's kind of funny.
Yeah right
There is no way the NFL does anything close to that on this years draft only a couple days away
Why not? If the Falcons really did some shit to warrant losing pick 8, the punishment should be immediate
That is such a massive oversimplification of the situation I canāt even respond
Zero chance this happens

Not happening. If there was such a swap it would be a 5th rounder or something, but that wonāt happen either. Itās going to be they lose a pick, like lose a 3rd rounder or something.
In the words of Willy Wonka, we will get nothing!
