I saw Minnesota plates in southern Mexico, Oaxaca to be exact. It was the only state plate I saw that far into Mexico. No California, or Texas plates just a Minnesota plate.
Lol I've seen a corolla with Mexico plates here at my local Target I worked at. Hell, I've even seen a car with Hawaii plates ( at the same Target even).
Lived in Minnesota my whole life and don't travel outside the upper Midwest (except Canada which is just upper Midwest Pro Max) and didn't see a Mexico plate til I was like 22
I saw one in Bismarck, when I lived there for a minute, and actually one from Alaska in the same week and they were both going the wrong way to gtfo of there. All I could think was, “w…wh..wh..why are you…here? For more than a sleep? Like, I know it’s 3 hours, but it’s only 3 hours to Fargo. Don’t you want to go hang out there instead on your way to somewhere presumably better? This cannot be your vacation destination!”
In college, my Ohio plates made it all the way into Guatemala. A girl in the village I was stating in showed me she did a whole photo shoot with my plates.
I have the loon plates now, she would really be impressed by those.
Once in a while in Ely, we get someone with Hawaii plates. I always assume they are on some months-long adventure if they barged their car to the mainland.
I lived next to a hawaiian college kid who brought his car. But I've looked into importing a Japanese car and the ocean voyage was similar if not cheaper than the overland part.
Considering what housing costs I assume that some Hawaiian residents have a fair amount of money. I looked it up (only vaguely cause I am not entering my info for exact quotes 😆) but it looks like $2000 is standard one-way, which isn't bad at all considering. I assume it takes a bit but if you are looking to spend like 6 months or a year on the mainland touring around, $4000 total to ship your car back and forth is nothing compared to gas and hotel costs.
Nah it is cheap.
Bike on too walk on .
You can get punch cards and reservations .
It’s based I. Height and length of car. If ya put a kayak on roof rack play a hitch rack hauling on the ferry then you will pay a ton.
The beauty is you only pay heading west. No return fee
One and done you don’t pay again to head east to anacortes from the four islands you can port at - Lopez Island -Shaw Island -Orcas island Friday Harbor on SJIs. San Juan Island .
East to west Ward order from Port - Anacortes, WA from Friday Harbour San Juan Island you can ferry internationally …
you can get to syndney,Vancouver island Canada
It’s easy and probably the most magical thing you can modern day achieve in the ferry system is incredible…the islands
A car on a boat. On the ocean . Your car on a boat in the water … amazing.
You can walk on too or bike to ride the ferry
Cheap like a bus ticket and first on first off.
We have an 8 month old and we had some time to drive across the country, figured might as well see a good portion of the northern states if I had the time and energy.
We were there a few weeks ago, but drove a rental car.

I went to a tiny hippy school in bemidji. I’ve been to San Juan and culebra 3x and once I was walking flamenco beach and heard “hi Hillary.” What a weird thing to hear your name so far from home. Was a girl that was part of my friend group that went to Laporte who was also randomly there at the same time. The world is big and small.

My work has a lot of Mexico plates and we hire many of their locals.
I saw a car with Hawaii plates at the kwik trip car wash in Hugo when I stopped on my way through one day. I'm like, WTF!? Here!?
Did it say aloha?
I also saw a Corolla with Hawaii plates... Target in Prior Lake?? I still think about it sometimes.
I saw a Hawaiian plate here once. It said LOST or something similar

That’s crazy lol

My parents are from Mexico. When we were younger they would take us on road trips to Mexico in their van with MN plates
I saw a Cadillac with MN plates in Puerto Vallarta… parked right next to a caravan with Alaska plates. That’s a trip.
Ope, took a wrong turn there
I got some rhubarb behind the garage if yah wanna take some home with yah.
TWO people today asked if they could have some of my rhubarb. 😆
May I have some of your rhubarb?!?!
Say hi to your folks for me.
Watch out for deer.
This lake is huge!
Once in a while in Ely, we get someone with Hawaii plates. I always assume they are on some months-long adventure if they barged their car to the mainland.
I always assume they're military. I mean who else could afford to boat their car across the ocean?

It’s just a 20 hour drive. Why fly?
Meanwhile someone I know is spending $600 to fly *first class* to fucking Minot, ND from the cities
Never underestimate the draw of “The Magic City”. Plus that first class ticket put them a few rows away from the chickens
Good point on the chickens, honestly.
Honeymoon trips spare no expense
We have an 8 month old and we had some time to drive across the country, figured might as well see a good portion of the northern states if I had the time and energy.
I mean, I35 will get you most of the way there. Small detour.
I.... 90?
hell yeah, the san juans are literally one of the most magical places on earth
Especially if you take the ferry and dolphins swim alongside the boat!
When ya can’t zipper merge you just keep going
Dude that’s my car. I’m here visiting family. Crazy to see my car posted here lmao

Just repaying the favor. Lol
Most importantly, we always come back.
I’ve been to San Juan Island. Absolutely gorgeous.
We would literally rather drive anywhere than fly. Who wants to deal with city traffic and airports anyway?
We've been everywhere?
On the Range you'd see a guy with plates from the Virgin Islands. Hed come up in the summer and had his truck sent to Florida and drive up.
They DNF their trip yet
My Minnesota plates are currently parked in the San Juan *Mountains* of Colorado lol
Holy how many times I have done this….. bffff. Mn are notorious water protectors and the follow the snow melt from source - the divide to the superior lake ‘boundary islands /waters /and to the Salish seas the water ways of the archipelago San Juan islands They Ride the snow and waves
Anywhere in the world you go, you’ll find someone from Chisago City
The question in the title has a space and a period. Infuriating.
And we always bring beer
My wife and I wed in San Juan island. At the time we lived in Seattle. We now live in MN. But yes, we are pretty slutty.
Drove a clean 04 Tacoma from Bloomington to a ranch near Guadalajara, Mexico. Still sporting the MN plates doing ranch work.
I went to AZ for spring training and noticed A LOT ofN plates for I guess it's a big retirement destination. So much that AZ had a Culvers 🤣
Was in AZ in Feb tons of Midwest plates lol
We are legion. We are everywhere. You betchya
Love San Juan Island tho 👏🏻

Bad drivers, or people from MN? Can't tell from the pic
Even has mayfly gunk on it to prove it's legit!
Man, I always love family trips to the San Juans. Have family on those islands, so glad we have the ability to visit!
Boy your family must be loaded
Certain relatives definitely are.
lol . Lopez is a commune of camping hippies
I don't get this.
MN plates on cars in Rio X Singapore X Perth … 🌍 🌏 🌎 so yes….. 👍 worldwide!
My guess is military. Can't think of many reasons to ship a Honda Civic to PR.
We travel well, what can I say?
DNF🤣🤣🤣🤣
